Abstract
Description
[0001] Medical pump sequence
[0002] SCOPE OF APPLICATION AND STATE OF THE ART
[0003] The invention relates to a medical pump segment, the use of the medical pump segment with a medical peristaltic pump, a medical kit and a medical peristaltic pump.
[0004] Peristaltic pumps are generally positive displacement pumps in which a fluid to be pumped is forced through a pump segment containing the fluid by external mechanical deformation. In medicine, peristaltic or positive displacement pumps are frequently used in the form of metered-dose pumps, such as infusion pumps, for the continuous, predominantly intravenous, administration of infusions. If the metered-dose pump is designed as an infusion pump, the pump segment is generally an infusion tube. The pumping principle of a peristaltic pump, especially an infusion pump, is primarily based on the system of so-called vane peristalsis, which generates a smooth flow with low pulsation and variable strength. To generate a flow, it is necessary that the vane peristalsis compresses the tube segment as occlusively as possible.
[0005] Clips are usually used to secure the pump segment in the peristaltic pump at the ends of the pump segment.
[0006] A disadvantage is that inserting the pump segment into the peristaltic pump takes some time, and incorrect insertion can lead to jamming or twisting of the pump segment.
[0007] TASK AND SOLUTION
[0008] The object of the invention is to provide a pump segment and a peristaltic pump that avoids the aforementioned disadvantages. Furthermore, the object of the invention is to provide a corresponding medical kit.
[0009] These problems are solved by a medical pump segment having the features according to independent claim 1, a use of a medical pump segment according to claim 13, a medical kit according to claim 14, and a medical peristaltic pump according to claim 15. Preferred embodiments of the invention are defined in the dependent claims. The wording of all claims is hereby incorporated by express reference into the present description.
[0010] According to a first aspect, the invention relates to a medical pump segment, in particular for a peristaltic pump, especially a medical peristaltic pump.
[0011] The medical pump segment comprises a hose segment and two fixing devices for securing the medical pump segment in a, in particular, a peristaltic pump, especially a medical peristaltic pump. One of the two fixing devices is arranged at one end of the hose segment and the other of the two fixing devices is arranged at the other, in particular opposite, end of the hose segment.
[0012] The invention is characterized in particular by the fact that the two fixing devices each comprise a magnetic or magnetizable material.
[0013] For the purposes of this invention, the term "pump segment" shall be understood to mean a complete, i.e., a whole, tube or part of a tube. The pump segment is advantageously designed to be pinchable. Preferably, the pump segment is an infusion tube or part of an infusion tube. Optionally, the pump segment may be a tube or part of a tube that is suitable for infusion, transfusion, or dialysis.
[0014] A magnetic or magnetizable design of the fixing devices offers the particular advantage of faster and, in particular, more accurate insertion of the medical pump segment into a medical peristaltic pump that has correspondingly counter-magnetized or counter-magnetizable holding devices for the medical pump segment. For this purpose, the medical pump segment only needs to be brought close to the holding devices of the peristaltic pump by a user, such as a doctor or other medical personnel, so that the interaction between the respective magnets and counter-magnets draws the medical pump segment directly into the correct position without any further adjustment by the user.
[0015] In one embodiment of the invention, the fixing devices each incorporate the magnetic or magnetizable material only in sections or areas. By designing the fixing devices to be magnetic or magnetizable only in sections or areas, the risk of the medical pump segment twisting can advantageously be avoided or at least significantly reduced.
[0016] Alternatively, according to the invention, the two fixing devices can each be made entirely of the magnetic or magnetizable material. Optionally, only one of the two fixing devices can be made entirely of the magnetic or magnetizable material, while the other fixing device is made only partially or in certain areas of the magnetic or magnetizable material.
[0017] In a further embodiment of the invention, only one side of the respective fixing device facing away from the respective end of the hose segment comprises the magnetic or magnetizable material. In particular, one side of the respective fixing device facing the respective end of the hose segment can be free of the magnetic or magnetizable material. The aforementioned sides can each constitute one half of the fixing device.
[0018] In a further embodiment of the invention, the magnetic or magnetizable material forms a surface or part of a surface of the respective fixing device.
[0019] In a further embodiment of the invention, the magnetic or magnetizable material is formed in the form of a layer, preferably in the form of a surface layer or coating of the respective fixing device. In particular, the magnetic or magnetizable material can be formed in the form of a strip of the respective fixing device. In other words, the fixing devices can each have a surface magnetic or magnetizable strip.
[0020] In a further embodiment of the invention, the fixing devices are each manufactured by multi-component injection molding, in particular by two-component injection molding. In this way, fixing devices with a magnetic or magnetizable section and a non-magnetic or non-magnetizable section can advantageously be produced.
[0021] In a further embodiment of the invention, the magnetic or magnetizable material comprises a permanent magnetic or permanently magnetizable material. Preferably, the magnetic or magnetizable material is a permanent magnetic or permanently magnetizable material. For the purposes of the present invention, the term "permanent magnetic or permanently magnetizable material" is understood to mean a material that generates a constant or permanent magnetic field or is attracted, particularly strongly, to a pole of an external magnetic field.
[0022] In a further embodiment of the invention, the magnetic or magnetizable material comprises a ferromagnetic material. In particular, the magnetic or magnetizable material can be a ferromagnetic material.
[0023] The ferromagnetic material can, in principle, be a metal and / or an alloy. Suitable metals and alloys are described in more detail in the following embodiment of the invention.
[0024] In a further embodiment of the invention, the ferromagnetic material is selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, cobalt, ruthenium, AINiCo, SmCo, Nd2Fei4B, NisoFe2o, NiFeCo alloys and combinations of at least two of the aforementioned ferromagnetic materials.
[0025] The alloy "AINiCo" is an alloy of iron with aluminum, nickel, cobalt, and copper. A corresponding alloy is commercially available, for example, under the name Oerstit®.
[0026] The alloy "SmCo" is an alloy of samarium and cobalt. The alloy "SmCo" can, for example, be the alloy "SmCos" without additional alloying elements, or the alloy "S ^Gon" with iron, copper, and zirconium as additional alloying elements.
[0027] The alloy “Nd2Fei4B” is an alloy of neodymium, iron and boron.
[0028] The alloy "NisoFe2o" is a nickel-iron alloy with a nickel content of 72 to 80%, as well as traces of copper, molybdenum, cobalt, or chromium. Such alloys are also known as "mu-metal." If the alloy contains 80% nickel, it is also called Permalloy.
[0029] In a further embodiment of the invention, the magnetic or magnetizable material comprises a ferrimagnetic material. In particular, the magnetic or magnetizable material can be a ferrimagnetic material. In a further embodiment of the invention, the ferrimagnetic material is selected from the group consisting of ferrites, plastic magnets, and combinations of at least two of the aforementioned ferrimagnetic materials.
[0030] For the purposes of this invention, the term "ferrite" refers to ferrimagnetic ceramic materials made of iron(III) oxide (Fe₂O₃) or magnetite (Fe₂O₄) and metal oxides and / or metal carbonates. The chemical composition of ferrites can be described by the general formula MeO • F₂O₃ = MeFe₂O₄, where Me represents the metals nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), magnesium (Mg), or cadmium (Cd) in the case of soft magnetic ferrites, and barium (Ba), strontium (Sr), or cobalt (Co) in the case of hard magnetic ferrites.
[0031] The plastic magnet may in particular be made of the material PANiCNQ, which is a combination of polyaniline (PAni) and tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ).
[0032] Alternatively or in combination, the magnetic or magnetizable material can be designed as an electromagnet.
[0033] Furthermore, the fixing devices can be connected to the respective end of the hose segment by form-fitting, force-fitting, and / or material-fitting means. In particular, the fixing devices can be attached to the respective end of the hose segment and material-fittingly connected to the respective end of the hose segment.
[0034] Furthermore, the fixing devices can be designed in a clip-like form, i.e., each as a clip, or each have a clip. In particular, the fixing devices can each have, in addition to a clip, further components, such as a semi-ring formed or arranged around the clip and / or a pin formed or arranged in the clip.
[0035] In a further embodiment of the invention, the fixing devices of the medical pump segment are designed to be countermagnetized or countermagnetizable with respect to the mounting devices of the peristaltic pump, wherein the mounting devices of the peristaltic pump are designed to hold or fix the medical pump segment in the peristaltic pump. In other words, in a further embodiment of the invention, the magnetic or magnetizable material of the fixing devices of the medical pump segment is designed to be countermagnetic or countermagnetizable with respect to a magnetic or magnetizable material of the mounting devices of the peristaltic pump, which are designed to hold or fix the medical pump segment in the peristaltic pump.
[0036] According to a second aspect, the invention relates to the use of a medical pump segment according to the first aspect of the invention together with a medical peristaltic pump and / or the use of a medical pump segment according to the first aspect of the invention for a medical peristaltic pump.
[0037] The medical pump segment is preferably an infusion tube or part of an infusion tube. The medical tube pump is preferably an infusion pump.
[0038] Regarding further features and advantages of the medical pump segment and the medical peristaltic pump, reference is made in full to the preceding description and / or the description to follow. The features and advantages mentioned therein in connection with the medical pump segment and the medical peristaltic pump also apply mutatis mutandis to the use according to the second aspect of the invention.
[0039] According to a third aspect, the invention relates to a medical peristaltic pump with two holding devices arranged in the peristaltic pump for holding or fixing the medical pump segment in the medical peristaltic pump.
[0040] Both mounting devices each comprise a magnetic or magnetizable material. The magnetic or magnetizable material of the mounting devices is designed to be countermagnetic or countermagnetizable to the magnetic or magnetizable material of the fixation devices of the medical pump segment.
[0041] Furthermore, the medical peristaltic pump may have a magnetic sensor. The magnetic sensor may, for example, be configured to detect the presence of the medical pump segment in the medical peristaltic pump and / or to measure the amount of magnetic or magnetizable material in the fixing devices of the medical pump segment and / or the mounting devices of the medical peristaltic pump and / or the strength of the magnetic field generated by the magnetic or magnetizable material in the fixing devices of the medical pump segment and / or the mounting devices of the medical peristaltic pump.
[0042] The magnetic sensor can, for example, be designed as a Hall sensor. For the purposes of the present invention, the term "Hall sensor" refers to a sensor that utilizes the so-called Hall effect to measure magnetic fields. The Hall effect is the phenomenon that an electrical voltage appears in a current-carrying conductor located in a stationary (unchanging) magnetic field.
[0043] Preferably, the medical hose pump is an infusion pump and the medical pump segment is an infusion hose or part of an infusion hose.
[0044] Regarding further features and advantages of the medical peristaltic pump, particularly with respect to the magnetic or magnetizable material of the mounting devices, reference is made in full to the preceding description, especially to the explanations given in the first aspect of the invention with respect to the magnetic or magnetizable material of the fixing devices of the medical pump segment. The features and advantages described therein, particularly with respect to the magnetic or magnetizable material of the fixing devices of the medical pump segment, also apply mutatis mutandis to the mounting devices of the medical peristaltic pump according to the third aspect of the invention.
[0045] According to a fourth aspect, the invention relates to a medical kit. The medical kit comprises, spatially separated from each other, a medical pump segment according to the first aspect of the invention and a medical peristaltic pump, in particular according to the third aspect of the invention.
[0046] Preferably, the medical pump segment is an infusion tube or part of an infusion tube, and the medical tube pump is an infusion pump.
[0047] Furthermore, the medical kit may include at least one additional component, in particular instructions for use.
[0048] Regarding further features and advantages of the medical kit, in particular the medical pump segment and the medical peristaltic pump, reference is made in full to the previous description, i.e., to the explanations given in the context of the first, second, and third aspects of the invention. The features and advantages described therein, particularly with regard to the medical pump segment and the medical peristaltic pump, also apply mutatis mutandis to the medical kit according to the fourth aspect of the invention.
[0049] According to a fifth aspect, the invention relates to a medical hose pump.
[0050] The medical hose pump contains a medical pump segment according to the first aspect of the invention.
[0051] The medical hose pump is preferably an infusion pump and the medical pump segment is preferably an infusion hose or part of an infusion hose.
[0052] Regarding further features and advantages of the medical peristaltic pump and the medical pump segment, reference is also made in full to the explanations given in the preceding description, i.e., in the context of the first, second, third, and fourth aspects of the invention. The features and advantages described therein, particularly with regard to the medical peristaltic pump and the medical pump segment, also apply mutatis mutandis to the medical peristaltic pump according to the fifth aspect of the invention.
[0053] In conclusion, the advantages of the invention are summarized again as follows:
[0054] The magnetic or magnetizable design of the medical pump segment's fixing devices, along with a medical peristaltic pump featuring correspondingly counter-magnetized or counter-magnetizable mounting devices for holding and fixing the medical pump segment within the pump, offers the distinct advantage of easy insertion of the medical pump segment into the pump, particularly without requiring any further or complex adjustments by the user. Furthermore, the risk of incorrect insertion of the pump segment, especially rotation, is eliminated. This enables safe or low-risk operation of the medical peristaltic pump. Specifically, delivery inaccuracies are avoided, and rapid insertion of the medical pump segment into the pump is achieved. This contributes to an overall improvement in patient safety. [0057] Fig. 2: an embodiment of a medical hose pump.
[0058] DETAILED CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
[0059] Fig. 1 schematically shows an embodiment of a medical pump segment 1 according to the present invention.
[0060] The medical pump segment 1 comprises a hose segment 2 and two fixing devices 5, 6 for fixing the medical pump segment 1 in a peristaltic pump. The fixing device 5 is arranged at one end 3 of the hose segment 2 and the fixing device 6 at the other (opposite) end 4 of the hose segment 1.
[0061] The fixing devices 5, 6 each have a magnetic or magnetizable material.
[0062] In principle, the two fixing devices 5, 6 can each consist entirely of the magnetic or magnetizable material. However, to prevent the medical pump segment 1 from twisting when inserted into the peristaltic pump, it is preferred if the two fixing devices 5, 6 each only have the magnetic or magnetizable material in certain areas.
[0063] Preferably, only one side 7, 8 of the respective fixing device 5, 6, facing away from the respective end 3, 4 of the hose segment 2, has the magnetic or magnetizable material. This ensures, firstly, that the medical pump segment 1 is pulled into the correct position when inserted into the medical peristaltic pump by means of counter-magnetized or counter-magnetizable holding devices of the medical peristaltic pump, in particular without the need for further adjustment by a user. Secondly, any rotation of the medical pump segment 1 can be prevented or the corresponding risk at least significantly reduced. Preferably, the magnetic or magnetizable material of the fixing devices 5, 6 forms a surface or part of a surface of the respective fixing device 5, 6. In particular, the magnetic or magnetizable material isMagnetizable material in the form of a layer, preferably a surface layer or coating, of the respective fixing device 5, 6. In particular, the magnetic or magnetizable material can be in strip form.
[0064] The fixing devices 5, 6 can each be designed in a clip-like form.
[0065] Preferably, the fixing devices 5, 6 are each manufactured by multi-component injection molding, in particular by two-component injection molding. In this way, a design of the fixing devices 5, 6 that is only partially magnetic or magnetizable can be achieved particularly advantageously.
[0066] The magnetic or magnetizable material is preferably a permanent magnet or a permanently magnetizable material. Particularly preferably, the magnetic or magnetizable material is a ferromagnetic and / or ferrimagnetic material. The ferromagnetic material may, in particular, be selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, cobalt, ruthenium, AINiCo, SmCo, Nd₂Fe₄B, NiisoFe₂O, NiFeCo alloys, and combinations of at least two of the aforementioned ferromagnetic materials. The ferrimagnetic material may, in particular, be selected from the group consisting of ferrites, plastic magnets, and combinations of at least two of the aforementioned ferrimagnetic materials.
[0067] Regarding further features and advantages of the medical pump segment 1, reference is made in full to the explanations given in the general description. The features and advantages described therein also apply analogously to the medical pump segment 1 shown in Fig. 1.
[0068] Fig. 2 schematically shows an embodiment of a medical peristaltic pump 100 according to the invention.
[0069] The medical peristaltic pump 100 comprises a medical pump segment 1 according to the present invention. Accordingly, the medical pump segment 1 comprises a tubing segment 2 and two fixing devices 5, 6 for fixing the medical pump segment 1 in the peristaltic pump 100. The fixing device 5 is arranged at one end 3 of the tubing segment 2 and the fixing device 6 at the other end 4 of the tubing segment 2. Both fixing devices 5, 6 each comprise a magnetic or magnetizable material.
[0070] The medical peristaltic pump 100 has two mounting devices 10 and 20 which are counter-magnetized or can be counter-magnetized with respect to the fixing devices 5, 6 of the medical pump segment 1. This ensures correct and, in particular, rotation-free positioning of the medical pump segment 1 in the medical peristaltic pump 100.
[0071] Preferably, the medical hose pump 100 is designed as an infusion pump and the medical pump segment 1 is designed accordingly as an infusion hose or part of an infusion hose.
[0072] Regarding further features and advantages of the medical peristaltic pump 100 and the medical pump segment 1, reference is made in full to the explanations given in the general description. The features and advantages described therein also apply mutatis mutandis to the medical peristaltic pump 100 and the medical pump segment 1 shown in Fig. 2.
