Description

Cosmetic product application device, application assembly and method for manufacturing such a device

[0001] The invention relates to the field of cosmetic product applicators, such as makeup remover applicators for keratin fibers such as eyelashes and eyebrows.

[0002] It should be noted that the invention is particularly aimed at the field of application of particularly viscous cosmetic products such as makeup removers in order to remove mascara.

[0003] The invention thus relates more particularly to a cosmetic product application device, a cosmetic product application assembly and a method for manufacturing such a device. Prior state of the art

[0004] Currently, for applying viscous products, such as mascara removers, it is known to use disc applicators like those disclosed in US patent 3033213. Such applicators are particularly well-suited for capturing viscous cosmetic products and applying them to ketamine fibers. However, these applicators have the drawback of not facilitating product removal after application. As a result, when removing the product, the mascara-laden product mixes with the "clean" product still present on the brush and is therefore redeposited on the eyelashes. Consequently, makeup removal remains only partial.

[0005] Therefore, there would be an advantage in providing applicator devices that, while allowing for the proper application of viscous cosmetic products, such as makeup removers, offer the possibility of removing them after the product has acted, with reduced or even zero contamination of the cosmetic product being applied.

[0006] The invention aims to remedy this drawback and thus aims to provide an application device which, while allowing good application of viscous cosmetic products, such as makeup removers, offers the possibility of removing it after the action of the latter with reduced, or even zero, contamination of the rest of the cosmetic product to be applied.

[0007] The invention relates to a cosmetic product application device, particularly of the makeup remover type, the application device comprising a longitudinal core having at least a first and a second longitudinal face, the first longitudinal face having a surface structure suitable for capturing the cosmetic product and allowing application of the cosmetic product onto keratin fibers, the second longitudinal face comprising at least one longitudinal organ extending from at least one end of the core at a distance from the latter so as to delimit between the organ and the core a housing forming a reservoir of cosmetic product, the organ comprising at least one row of pins, each pin extending from the organ at a distance from the core in such a way as to allow capture of the cosmetic product present on keratin fibers passing between the pins.

[0008] According to the invention, at least a portion of the pins of at least one row of pins of at least one organ comprises a body and two lateral fins, said lateral fins defining a guidance plane for the keratin fiber.

[0009] With this design, the first longitudinal side allows the user to apply a cosmetic product, such as makeup remover, to enable it to work (for example, by diluting a product previously applied to the keratin fibers, such as mascara). Once the cosmetic product has worked, the user can effectively remove it using the row of bristles on the second longitudinal side. Because this removal is performed from a side completely separate from the first, the removed cosmetic product, even if only partially contaminated, does not contaminate the first longitudinal side.

[0010] In addition to this low contamination of the first longitudinal surface, the reservoir of cosmetic product formed between at least one organ and the core allows the first surface to be supplied with cosmetic product, particularly when the organ presses against the keratin fibers to remove the soiled cosmetic product using the prongs of said at least one organ. In this way, the user can continue to apply the cosmetic product newly transferred to the first longitudinal surface onto a portion of keratin fibers that has not yet been treated.

[0011] In fact, with such a brush, the user is able to obtain a good application of the cosmetic product, such as a makeup remover, while providing effective removal of it after its application and action on keratin fibers.

[0012] The first longitudinal face can extend over an angular section of the web greater than or equal to 180°, preferably greater than or equal to 200°, or even 220°.

[0013] With such an angular section occupied by the first longitudinal face, the applicator device is suitable for allowing a significant application of cosmetic product (in particular a makeup remover product), without significantly affecting the ability to remove said product offered by the second longitudinal face.

[0014] At least part of the pins of at least one row of pins of at least one organ may comprise a body and two lateral wings, said lateral wings defining a guidance plane for the keratin fiber.

[0015] Such fins optimize the removal capacity of the cosmetic product present on the keratin fibers, in particular by offering a scraping capacity to said bristles.

[0016] The keratin fiber guidance plane is transverse to the core and preferably makes an angle between 0° and 30°, 0° and 30° inclusive, with a plane perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the core, or even between 5° and 20°, 5° and 20° inclusive.

[0017] This orientation of the transverse guide plane allows the keratin fibers to be guided between the prongs while ensuring their contact with the fins to facilitate the removal of the cosmetic product. Furthermore, when the guide plane is at an angle perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the core, particularly within the angular ranges indicated above, the keratin fibers are guided while maintaining optimal contact with the fins.

[0018] At least part of the spikes of at least one row of spikes of at least one organ may have a flare at a free end.

[0019] Such a flare helps to limit the risks of keratin fibers coming out of the inter-pimple space and therefore presenting a portion on which the cosmetic product has not been removed by the pimples.

[0020] the second longitudinal face may include at least two longitudinal organs.

[0021] With at least two longitudinal contacts, we ensure that the keratin fibers can pass through two rows of pins and thus presents an optimal removal of cosmetic composition.

[0022] The pins of one longitudinal organ and the pins of the other longitudinal organ are offset from each other in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the core.

[0023] In this way, the keratin fibers exhibit a non-linear trajectory when guided by the bumps of the longitudinal organs and have maximum contact with said bumps, thus ensuring good removal of the cosmetic composition.

[0024] The surface structure of the first face may include at least one of the following: - ribs defining cavities for capturing cosmetic product, - a plurality of second bumps protruding from its surface and presenting on at least part of the surface of the first longitudinal face a density of bumps greater than 1 bump per square millimeter.

[0025] Such structures are particularly suitable for the application of a cosmetic product even when it has a relatively high viscosity, as is the case for cosmetic products of the makeup remover type for keratin fibers.

[0026] The surface structuring of the first longitudinal face may include ribs defining cavities for capturing cosmetic product, said ribs being partially circumferential ribs extending circumferentially around the core along the angular section of the core occupied by the first longitudinal face.

[0027] By partially circumferential, it is understood above and in the rest of this document that said rib extends along a circumferential of the core only on a part of the latter, leaving the part of said circumferential corresponding to the second longitudinal face free of rib.

[0028] Such ribs, by defining cavities for capturing cosmetic product, ensure good recovery of the cosmetic product when the device is brought into contact with it, for example in a bottle of cosmetic product, ensuring good application capacity on keratin fibers.

[0029] The first longitudinal face includes at least one through opening leading to the housing forming a cosmetic product reservoir delimited between at least one organ and the soul.

[0030] Such an opening allows for a direct, and therefore more efficient, supply of cosmetic product to the first longitudinal face via the reserve formed between the organ and the soul.

[0031] The first longitudinal face may have a concave shape, with at least one organ extending from at least one end of the soul, defining a convex shape with respect to the soul.

[0032] In this way, the user is more easily able to identify that the first longitudinal side is for applying the cosmetic product and that the second longitudinal side is for removing it after it has taken effect. As a result, the application device offers particularly optimized ergonomics.

[0033] The invention further relates to a cosmetic product application assembly comprising: - an application device according to the invention further comprising a preemption rod at the end of which is mounted an applicator head, - a reservoir of the fluid or paste product comprising a wringer system through which the applicator head is intended to pass during an extraction of said reservoir.

[0034] Such a cosmetic product set offers the advantages conferred by the application device it includes.

[0035] The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing a cosmetic product application device comprising the following steps: - defining a first longitudinal face having a surface structure suitable for capturing the cosmetic product and allowing application of the cosmetic product onto keratin fibers, - defining a second longitudinal face comprising at least one longitudinal element extending from at least one end of the core at a distance from the latter so as to delimit between the at least one element and the core a housing forming a reservoir of cosmetic product, the at least one element comprising at least one row of pins, each pin extending from the element at a distance from the core in such a way as to allow capture of the cosmetic product present on keratin fibers passing between the pins,- manufacture of said application device comprising at least the first longitudinal face and the second longitudinal face for applying the cosmetic product.

[0036] According to the invention, during the step of defining the second longitudinal face, at least a part of the pins of at least one row of pins of at least one organ comprises a body and two lateral fins, said lateral fins defining a guidance plane for the keratin fiber.

[0037] Such a manufacturing process enables the provision of an application device according to the invention and the attainment of the associated benefits.

[0038] The steps for defining the first longitudinal face and the second longitudinal face can be implemented by computer.

[0039] Such a computer implementation allows for the definition of the first and second longitudinal faces, taking into account the specific characteristics of the cosmetic product.

[0040] The invention further relates to a method of using a cosmetic product application device according to the invention for the application of a cosmetic product, the method comprising the following steps: - removal of the application device from a reservoir containing the cosmetic product, the surface structure having captured the cosmetic product and the cosmetic product reserve delimited between at least one organ and the core being filled with cosmetic product, - application of the cosmetic product onto keratin fibers by means of the structure of the first longitudinal face, - once the cosmetic product has acted on the keratin fiber, removal of the latter by means of the nubs of the at least one organ of the second longitudinal face, the pressure on the at least one organ allowing to transfer at least a part of the cosmetic product present in the reserve delimited between the at least one organ and the core to the first longitudinal face.

[0041] Such a process allows the application device to be used in such a way as to fully benefit from the advantages associated with it.

[0092] Detailed description of specific implementation methods

[0093] Laillustre un ensemble d’application 1 de produit cosmetic compris un device d’application 10 selon l’invention.

[0094] In a typical application of the invention, the cosmetic product is a makeup remover for removing makeup, particularly from keratin fibers. However, the present invention is not limited to this single application and can thus relate to any type of cosmetic product application, including moisturizing or treatment products, especially for keratin fibers, or makeup products, particularly when such a product is relatively thick / viscous and it is necessary to remove excess product after application.

[0095] Such an application assembly 1 comprises: - the application device 10 further comprising a preemption rod 12 at the end of which is mounted an applicator head 100, - a bottle 20, forming a reservoir, intended to contain the fluid or pasty product and intended to at least partially accommodate the application device 10, - a wringer system 40 arranged at the level of a neck 21 of the bottle in such a way that when the application device 10 is partially accommodated, in particular the applicator head 100, in the latter, said accommodated part passes through said wringer system 40 during its extraction from the bottle 20.

[0096] Within the framework of the invention, the wringer system 40 comprises: - a tubular body 42, intended to cooperate with the neck 21 of the bottle 20 and may include retaining elements, such as a stop 421, to allow the wringer system 40 to be held at the level of the neck 21, - at least one lip, not shown, made of deformable material, such as an elastomer, intended to come into contact with the part of the application device 10 which is received in the bottle 20 and thus allow the removal by wiping of excess product taken up by the application device 10.

[0097] While such a wringer system 40 is common for cosmetic product application sets 1, whether the product is fluid or paste, it can nevertheless benefit from the advantages already known in the prior art. Thus, according to one possibility of the invention, the wringer system 40 can conform to that described in document EP3731695 A1 and thus include rims facilitating its attachment to an internal shoulder of the bottle 20. Similarly, the wringer system 40 can be adapted to exhibit the properties described in document WO 2018 / 122472 A1. Likewise, this same wringer system 40 can have a split lip as described in document FR 3 016 274A1. As an alternative, or in addition, the spin dryer system may have one of the configurations taught by document EP 1275322 B1 and by document EP1797790 B1.Of course, the spin system configurations 40 are given only as examples and other alternative configurations of the spin system 40 are perfectly conceivable without departing from the scope of the invention.

[0098] According to a typical configuration of the invention, the application device 10 according to the first embodiment of the invention comprises: - a cap / rod element 13 comprising a skirt 11, adapted to cooperate with the neck 21 of the bottle 20, and a preemption rod 12 extending from the skirt 11 and having a first end, opposite the skirt 11, - the applicator head 100 arranged at the first end of the rod 12 which is intended to be introduced into the bottle 20 of cosmetic product comprising the wringer system 40 through which the applicator head 120 is intended to pass during an extraction of said bottle 20.

[0099] It should be noted that, of course, if in the present embodiment the application device 10 comprises an applicator head 100 mounted on a cap / rod element 31, it is of course conceivable, without departing from the scope of the invention, that the application device 100 comprises a cap / rod element assembly 13 and an applicator head 100 formed as a single unit, for example by co-molding, or even an applicator element 100 comprising a single application element having an end with a conformation of the type of the present applicator head 100. Thus, in particular and according to a variant of the invention, the present applicator head 100 can be formed directly by co-molding according to the principle of the manufacturing process described in document WO 2024 / 115817, the rod comprising an end then participating in the formation of the applicator head 100.

[0100] Regarding the applicator head 100 itself, according to this first embodiment and as illustrated in Figure 2, it has a generally elongated shape comprising a longitudinal core 130 having at least a first and a second longitudinal face 110, 120. The core 130 thus has an elongated shape, such as a cylindrical shape of revolution, as is the case in this embodiment, a frustoconical shape, a parallelepiped shape, or even a prismatic shape. In this first embodiment, as in those described below, in order to allow mounting of the applicator head 100 at one end of the cap / rod element, the core 130 includes a mounting portion 131. The mounting portion 131 is in the form of a cylindrical or frustoconical portion with a shape complementary to a receiving recess of the cap / rod assembly 13.More specifically, this complementary shape is preferably adapted to allow the mounting portion 131 to be inserted into the receiving housing and secured by crimping. Alternatively, the applicator head 100 can be shaped to be snapped onto the end of the cap / rod assembly 31.

[0101] According to the invention, the first longitudinal face 110 has a surface structure 111 adapted to capture the cosmetic product and to allow application of the cosmetic product onto keratin fibers. To provide such a conformation, the surface structure 111 may, in this embodiment, comprise a set of ribs defining cavities for capturing the cosmetic product. As is the case in this embodiment, the ribs may be partially circumferential ribs extending circumferentially around the core 130 along the angular section of the core 130 occupied by the first longitudinal face 110.With such partially circumferential ribs, as can be seen in the side view illustrated in Figure 1, they appear as partially circumferential ridges distributed along the core 130, two successive partially circumferential ridges being connected to each other by a partially circumferential valley forming a reservoir suitable for capturing the cosmetic product. This surface structure conformation 111 is also visible in the close-up view shown in Figure 1.

[0102] According to one embodiment of the invention, the spacing between said partially circumferential ridges is preferably adapted according to the viscosity of the cosmetic product and the material of the applicator head. Indeed, due to the phenomenon of surface tension, relatively large inter-structure cavities are more suitable for relatively viscous cosmetic products, whereas it is preferable to provide relatively small cavities for a relatively liquid cosmetic product.

[0103] The angular cross-section of the web occupied by the first longitudinal face 110 can be greater than or equal to 180°, preferably greater than or equal to 200°, or even 220°. Thus, in the present embodiment, the angular cross-section of the web 130 occupied by the first longitudinal face 110 is 300°. The second face 120 occupies an angular cross-section of the web complementary to that of the first longitudinal face 110, that is, in the first embodiment, an angular cross-section of 60°. Alternatively, as is the case in other embodiments described below, the angular cross-section occupied by the second longitudinal face 120 can be less than the angular cross-section complementary to that occupied by the first longitudinal face 111.

[0104] The second longitudinal face 110 comprises, as shown in the front view and the top perspective view, a longitudinal member 121 extending from at least one end of the core 130 at a distance from the latter so as to delimit, between the at least one member 121 and the core 130, a compartment forming a reservoir for cosmetic product. More specifically, in the context of this embodiment and all the embodiments described below, the member(s) 121 are formed by arches extending between a first end and a second end of the core 130. In the first embodiment, the applicator head 100 comprises a single arch 121.

[0105] Of course, if, in the present embodiment, the component 121 takes the form of a single arch extending along the web 130 and is anchored to it at both ends, it is also conceivable, without departing from the scope of the invention, that the component has only one end anchored to the web, the other end being free. This possibility is described further at the end of this description. According to another variant, the component 121 may comprise a double arch including a first and a second successive sub-arches extending from one end of the respective web. In such a configuration, the first and second sub-arches meet at a central portion of the web 130.According to another variant, described at the end of this description in connection with figures 10A to 11B and an eighth embodiment, the organ or organs may have a cutout to define a first and a second sub-organs 121A, 121B each extending from a respective end of the core 123.

[0106] As can be seen in Figures 2A and 2D, organ 121 includes at least one row of pins 123. This row of pins 123 is arranged along organ 121 extending from it at a distance from the core 130 in such a way as to allow capture of the cosmetic product present on keratin fibers when the latter pass between the pins 123.

[0107] In the present embodiment, the pins 123 of the component 212 comprise a body and two lateral wings 125, said wings 125 defining a guidance plane for the keratin fibers. Indeed, it can be seen in the figure that the lateral wings 125 of the pins 123 extend parallel to each other so as to provide guidance for the keratin fibers.

[0108] More specifically, the lateral fins 125 extend in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the web 130, either perpendicular to the longitudinal axis or at an angle to the perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. In this embodiment, the lateral fins 125 extend in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis at an angle of between 5° and 25°, or even between 7° and 15°, and advantageously equal to 10°, with the perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

[0109] The spike body 123 has a substantially frustoconical shape with a circular cross-section. Alternatively, the spike body 123 may have a different cross-section, such as an elliptical, rectangular, square, triangular, pentagonal, polygonal, orthogonal, or other type, without departing from the scope of the invention. The lateral fin 125 has a right-angled triangular planar shape with the right angle corresponding to the angle formed between the spike body 123 and a surface of the component 121, and the hypotenuse extending from the surface of the component 121 to the apex of the spike body 123.

[0110] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the pins 123 include a flare at one free end. This flare 124 takes the form of a pin head or a disc with a diameter increased relative to the rest of the distal portion of the pin 123 (or more precisely, the pin body). This flare ensures that the keratin fibers remain guided between the pins.

[0111] Such a flare 124 with the presence of the lateral fins 125 promotes the capture of the cosmetic product previously deposited on the keratin fibers when the latter pass between the pins, the lateral fins 125 allowing to "scrape" the cosmetic product and the flare ensuring that the keratin fibers do not escape from the inter-pin spaces delimited by the successive lateral fins 125.

[0112] Such an application device 10, and the applicator head it comprises, can be manufactured by means of a manufacturing process comprising the following steps: - definition of the first longitudinal face 110 having the surface structure 111 suitable for capturing the cosmetic product and allowing application of the cosmetic product onto keratin fibers, - definition of the second longitudinal face 120 comprising the longitudinal member 121 extending from each end of the core 130 at a distance from the latter so as to delimit between the member 121 and the core 130 a compartment forming a reservoir of cosmetic product, the member 121 comprising a row of pins 123, each pin 123 extending from the member 121 at a distance from the core 130 in such a way as to allow capture of the cosmetic product present on keratin fibers passing between the pins 123, - manufacturing of said application device 10,et notamment sa tête d'applicateur 100, comprenant la première face longitudinale 110 et la deuxième face longitudinale 120 pour appliquer le produit cosmétique.,

[0113] Advantageously, and similarly to that described in document WO2024 / 03577, the steps for defining the first longitudinal face 110 and the second longitudinal face 120 can be implemented by computer. Thus, the person responsible for defining the application device 10 can, with computer assistance, select first and second longitudinal faces 110 and 120 that are compatible with each other and with the characteristics of the cosmetic product. This selection can be made from a predefined database. Once the selection is made, each of the first and second longitudinal faces can be associated with relevant information, such as a corresponding reference number. This information relating to these longitudinal faces can be provided or transcribed in the form of a series of references, each of the references being associated with a respective longitudinal face of the database.

[0114] According to this possibility, the manufacturing step of the application device 10 can include the following sub-steps: - provision of a correspondence table between each reference and a mold section adapted to allow the manufacture of the element, and therefore of its corresponding longitudinal face 110, 120, - when defining the first longitudinal face 110 and the second longitudinal face, said longitudinal faces 110, 120 having been selected in the predefined data table and associated with a sequence of references as explained above, assembly of the mold sections on the basis of the sequence of references and the correspondence table in order to form an assembled mold corresponding to the application device 10 comprising the longitudinal faces 110, 120 selected by the user, - molding of the application device 10 from the assembled mold.

[0115] In addition to the possibility of allowing a choice of the shape of each of the first and second longitudinal faces, such a possibility in accordance with the teaching of document WO2024 / 03577 allows an optimization of the conformation of the first and second application face with respect to the cosmetic composition to be applied (in particular with respect to the viscosity of the latter and its surface tension with respect to the material(s) in which the first and second longitudinal faces 110, 120 are made).

[0116] It should also be noted that while in the present embodiment and in subsequent embodiments the application device 10 is manufactured by injection molding or co-molding, the invention is of course compatible with other manufacturing techniques. Thus, an application device 10 according to the present embodiment (or one of the following) can easily be manufactured by an additive manufacturing technique without departing from the scope of the invention.

[0117] Similarly, the application device 10 can be implemented in a method for applying a cosmetic product, the method comprising the following steps: - Removal of the application device 100 from a bottle 20 (or reservoir) containing the cosmetic product, the surface structure 111 having captured the cosmetic product and the cosmetic product reservoir delimited between the component 121 and the core 130 being filled with cosmetic product, - application of the cosmetic product onto keratin fibers by means of the structure 111 of the first longitudinal face 110, - once the cosmetic product has acted on the keratin fibers, removal of the latter by means of the prongs 123 of the component 121 of the second longitudinal face 120,the support on at least one organ 121 allowing the transfer of at least a part of the cosmetic product present in the delimited reserve between at least one organ 121 and the core 130 to the first longitudinal face 100.,

[0119] As can be seen in the front view shown in Figure 1 and the bottom view shown in Figure 2, in the present embodiment, the second longitudinal face 120 and the two components 121 take the form of respective arches extending from the ends of the core 130 at a distance from it. In this way, at a mid-portion of the core, the components 121 define a compartment between themselves and the core 130, forming a reservoir for cosmetic product. Each component 121 is equipped with a row of prongs 123. The components 121 tend to move away from each other from their anchoring points on the core 130. Thus, the space between the components is maximized at the mid-portion of the core 130.

[0120] In the present embodiment, the pins 123 of each member 121 are oriented radially with respect to the web 130. As regards the lateral fins 125 of the pins 123, as shown in the figure, they extend in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis at an angle which is opposite to that of the lateral fins 125 of the other member 121.

[0121] An application device 10, and the applicator head 100 comprising it, according to this second embodiment, can be manufactured by a process similar to that of an applicator device 10 according to the first embodiment, except that the second longitudinal face 120 comprises two components 121 conforming to this embodiment. Similarly, the method of using an application device 10 according to this second embodiment differs from that of the first embodiment in that, once the cosmetic product has acted on the keratin fiber, its removal is carried out by means of the prongs 123 of the two components 121 of the second longitudinal face 120.

[0122] Figures 4A to 4D illustrate an application device 10 according to a variant of the second embodiment. Such an application device 10 according to this variant differs from an application device 10 according to the second embodiment in that the row of pins 123 of one member 121 is offset relative to the other member along the longitudinal direction of the core 130. This offset is advantageously chosen to be less than the pitch between two successive pins 123 of the row of pins 123 and is advantageously equal to half this pitch between two successive pins 123 of the row of pins 123.

[0123] It can thus be seen that, due to the offset between the pins of the rows of components 121, all the pins are visible in the side view, unlike that of an application device 10 according to the second embodiment. In addition to this offset between the rows of pins 123 of components 121, and as is already the case in the second embodiment, the guiding planes of the keratin fiber delimited by the lateral fins 125 of one component 121 have an angle opposite to that of the guiding planes of the keratin fiber delimited by the lateral fins 125 of the other component 121.

[0124] An application device 10, and the applicator head 100 comprising it, according to this variant of the second embodiment, can be manufactured by a process similar to that of an applicator device 10 according to the second embodiment, except that during the definition of the first longitudinal face 110, the pins 123 of one member 121 have an offset with respect to the pins 123 of the other member 121. The method of using an application device 10 according to this variant of the second embodiment is similar to that of the application device 10 according to the second embodiment.

[0125] Figures 5A to 5D illustrate an application device 10, and the applicator head 100 it comprises, according to a third embodiment in which the first longitudinal face 110 has a non-circumferential structure and a concave shape. Thus, an application device according to this third embodiment differs from an application device 10 according to the second embodiment in that the first longitudinal face 110 has a non-circumferential structure 111 and a concave shape, and in that the prongs of the components 121.

[0126] As can be seen in Figure 1, the first longitudinal face 110 has a concave shape. Indeed, the first longitudinal face 110 has, at least on its side opposite the second longitudinal face 120, a thickness (or distance from its surface) relative to a longitudinal axis of the core 130, which decreases in the directions from the extremities towards the middle of the first longitudinal face 110. In this way, the middle of the first longitudinal face 110 is concave relative to its extremities. With this concave shape, the first longitudinal face 110 has a shape complementary to that of eyelashes, thus encouraging the user to naturally use the first longitudinal face 110 to apply the cosmetic product.

[0127] In this embodiment, the surface structure 111 takes the form of lateral ribs arranged opposite the second face and extending in a rounded shape that follows the form of the core. The lateral ribs define valleys between them suitable for capturing the cosmetic product. These valleys extend in a substantially rounded manner so as to partially conform to the general shape of the core 130 while providing its function of capturing the cosmetic product in order to allow the application of the cosmetic product to the user's keratin fibers.

[0128] The first longitudinal face 110, in this third embodiment and as shown in the front view shown in, occupies an angular section of the web 130 equal to 180°, the second longitudinal face 120 occupying the remainder of the web 130.

[0129] The second longitudinal face 120, in addition to occupying a larger angular cross-section of the web, equal to 180°, has a configuration similar to that of the second embodiment, except that the pins 123 do not have flares 124 and lateral wings 125. Thus, in this third embodiment, the pins 123 have a frustoconical shape. It should be noted, however, that in this embodiment, in contrast to the first longitudinal face 110, the second longitudinal face 100, by virtue of its components 121, has a convex shape. For the same reasons, the components have a convex shape. Indeed, since each of the components extends from the extremities to the mid-portion of the web 130, moving away from the latter, the arch has a maximum arch height relative to the longitudinal axis at a mid-portion of the web.In this way, for the user, after using the first longitudinal side, it seems more natural to use the second longitudinal side 120 in order to remove the cosmetic product that has acted.

[0130] An application device 10, and the applicator head 100 comprising it, can be manufactured according to a process similar to that of an applicator device 10 according to the second embodiment, with the difference that the first longitudinal face 110 has a concave shape and occupies an angular section of 180° of the core 130, and that the second longitudinal face comprises frustoconical-shaped pins without flare 124 and without lateral fin 125. The method of using the application device according to this third embodiment is similar to that of the second embodiment.

[0131] Figures 6A to 6C illustrate an application device 10 according to a fourth embodiment in which the valleys defined by the ribs of the surface structure 111 are substantially rectilinear in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the core 130. An application device 10 according to this fourth embodiment differs from an application device 10 according to the third embodiment by the conformation of the valleys defined by the ribs of the surface structure 111.

[0132] In this embodiment, the surface structure 111 takes the form of lateral ribs arranged opposite the second face and extending in a curve that follows the shape of the core. The lateral ribs define valleys between them suitable for capturing the cosmetic product. These valleys extend substantially linearly, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the core 130, between two successive ribs.

[0133] In this fourth embodiment, the angular section of the web occupied by the first longitudinal face 110 is approximately equal to 220°, the angular section of the web occupied by the second longitudinal face 210 is approximately equal to 140°.

[0134] The manufacturing process for an application device 10 according to this fourth embodiment differs from that of the third embodiment only in the configuration of the ribs forming the surface structure 110 and the valleys delimited by the latter. Similarly, the method of using an application device 10 according to this fourth embodiment is similar to that of an application device according to the third embodiment.

[0135] Figures 7A to 7F illustrate an application device 10 according to a fifth embodiment in which the core 130 has a slightly elongated lateral section, the second longitudinal face 120 being substantially more flared than the first longitudinal face 110, the first longitudinal face 110 further comprising through openings 113 leading into the housing forming a cosmetic product reservoir delimited between at least one organ 121 and the core 130.An application device 10 according to a fifth embodiment differs from a device according to the third embodiment in that the core 130 has a slightly elongated lateral section, the second longitudinal face 120 being substantially more flared than the first longitudinal face 110, the first longitudinal face 110 further comprising through openings 113 leading into the housing forming a cosmetic product reservoir delimited between at least one organ 121 and the core 130.

[0136] We can thus see on the, that the core according to the section A2- A2 (in reference to the cutting plane shown on the) presents, with the members 121, a substantially triangular section, the vertex of the first longitudinal face being one of the vertices of the triangle, and the pins 123 of the members 121 forming the other two vertices of the triangle.

[0137] It can also be seen that the ribs, and therefore the valleys, forming the surface structure 111 of the first surface 110 extend circumferentially over part of the circumference of the core 130. Furthermore, as shown in Figures 7B and 7C, opposite the second longitudinal face 120, the first longitudinal face 110 has the through openings 113 communicating with the cosmetic product reservoir delimited between the organs 121 and the core 130. In this way, when pressure is applied to the organs 121 (for example, to the keratin fibers), the decrease in the volume of the reservoir due to the deformation of the organs leads to a transfer of product towards the first longitudinal face 110.

[0138] A manufacturing process for an application device 10 according to this fifth embodiment differs from an application device 10 according to the fifth embodiment in that, during the implementation of the process, the core 130 has a slightly elongated lateral section, the second longitudinal face 120 being substantially more flared than the first longitudinal face 110, the first longitudinal face 110 further comprising through openings 113 leading to the housing forming a cosmetic product reservoir delimited between at least one component 121 and the core 130. As regards the method of using such an application device 10 according to this fifth embodiment, it is similar to that of the application device 10 according to the fifth embodiment.

[0139] Figures 8A to 8G illustrate an application device 10 according to a sixth embodiment in which the core 130 has a configuration similar to the application device with frustoconical pins 123. An application device 10 according to a sixth embodiment differs from an application device 10 according to the second embodiment in that it has frustoconical pins 123.

[0140] This application device 10 has an overall configuration similar to that of the application device 10 according to the second embodiment.

[0141] Thus, apart from the difference in the conformations of the pins 123, the manufacturing and use processes of the application device 10 according to this sixth embodiment are identical to those of the second embodiment.

[0142] Figures 9A to 9F illustrate an application device 10 according to a seventh embodiment in which the first longitudinal face 110 has a plurality of secondary protrusions 115 projecting from its surface and has, on at least a portion of the surface of the first longitudinal face 110, a protrusion density greater than 1 protrusion per square millimeter. Thus, an application device according to this seventh embodiment differs from an application device 10 according to the sixth embodiment in that the first longitudinal face has a plurality of secondary protrusions 115 projecting from its surface and has, on at least a portion of the surface of the first longitudinal face 110, a protrusion density greater than 1 protrusion per square millimeter instead of circumferential ribs.

[0143] We can thus observe that the first face has a substantially flattened upper portion, that is to say, with a radius of curvature of its cross-section substantially greater than the rest of the core 130, on which the second set of bumps is arranged. The second set of bumps, with such density, forms a kind of carpet of bumps which is capable of capturing the cosmetic product by capillary action.

[0144] In the present embodiment, the first longitudinal face 110 occupies an angular section of 180° of the web 130, as shown in figures 9E and 9F, the second longitudinal face 110 also occupying an angular section of 180° of the web 130.

[0145] It can be noted that, within the framework of the present embodiment, the density of the second set of pins 115 on at least part of the first longitudinal face 110 can be between 6 pins per square millimeter, or even 15 pins per square millimeter, and 36 pins per square millimeter, or even 20 pins per square millimeter. Similarly, according to yet another possibility, the density of pins on at least part of the first longitudinal face can be between 20 pins per square millimeter, or even 30 pins per square millimeter, and 50 pins per square millimeter, or even 36 pins per square millimeter.

[0146] With such second pins 115 arranged on the first longitudinal face 110, it is possible, by varying the density of the second pins 115 and / or their height, to perfectly adapt them to the viscosity of the cosmetic product with which the application device 10 is intended to be used. Similarly, it is possible to adapt the application properties of the cosmetic product via the first longitudinal face 110 by adjusting the arrangement of said second pins 115.

[0147] A manufacturing process according to this seventh embodiment differs from the manufacturing process of an application device 10 according to the sixth embodiment in that, during the step of defining the first longitudinal face 110, this face has a plurality of secondary protrusions 115 projecting from its surface and exhibits, on at least a portion of the surface of the first longitudinal face 110, a protrusion density greater than 1 protrusion per square millimeter instead of circumferential ribs. With regard to use, the method of using an application device according to this seventh embodiment is similar to that of the application device 10 according to the sixth embodiment.

[0148] Figures 10A to 10C illustrate an application device 10 according to an eighth embodiment in which each component 121 comprises a first and a second sub-component 121A, 121B, each extending longitudinally from one end of the core 130 at a distance from the latter. An application device 10 according to this eighth embodiment differs from an application device 10 according to the second embodiment in that each component 121 comprises a first and a second sub-component 121A, 121B.

[0149] We can thus see that each of the longitudinal organs 121 has a lateral cut, separating it into a first and a second sub-organ 121A, 121B. This cut is located approximately one-quarter of the way along the length of said organ, near one end of the core opposite to the end to which the cut of the other organ is proximal. Such a cut and separation of each organ 121 into a first and a second sub-organ 121A, 121B allows for greater freedom of movement of the sub-organs, as they are fixed at only one end of the core.

[0150] A manufacturing process according to this eighth embodiment differs from the manufacturing process of an application device 10 according to the second embodiment in that, during the step of defining the first longitudinal face 110, the components thereof have a cutout such that each is separated into a first and a second sub-component 121A, 121B. With regard to use, the method of using an application device according to this eighth embodiment is similar to that of the application device 10 according to the second embodiment.

[0151] Figures 11A and 11B illustrate an application device 10 according to a variant of the eighth embodiment in which each component 121 has a central cutout such that each is separated into a first and a second sub-component 121A, 121B. An application device 10 according to this variant of the eighth embodiment differs from an application device 10 according to the eighth embodiment only by the arrangement of the cutout separating the first and second sub-components 121A, 121B.

[0152] A manufacturing process according to this variant of the eighth embodiment differs from the manufacturing process of an application device 10 according to the eighth embodiment in that, during the step of defining the first longitudinal face 110, the components thereof have the cut at the level of a central portion of said components 121. With regard to use, the method of using an application device according to this variant of the eighth embodiment is similar to that of the application device 10 according to the eighth embodiment.

[0153] According to one possibility of the invention, if in all the embodiments described above, each of the longitudinal components 121 extends from both ends of the core away from it, it is conceivable, without departing from the scope of the invention and in a manner similar to the first and second sub-components 121A, 12B described in the eighth embodiment, that one or at least one of the components 121 extends from only one end of the core 130, said component 121 having a free end opposite said end of the core. In this way, the component 121 is able to move and, in particular, to move closer to the core in order to release the cosmetic product stored in the reservoir formed between said component 121 and the core 130.

[0154] It should be noted that while in all the described embodiments the second longitudinal face 120 comprises one or two longitudinal elements 121 (or arches), it is of course conceivable, without departing from the scope of the invention, that it may comprise more than two. Thus, according to one possibility of the invention, the second longitudinal face 120 may comprise three, or even four, elements, each comprising at least one row of pins 123. It should also be noted that, according to a common configuration of the invention found in all the embodiments and variants described above, each element 121 comprises a single row of pins 123, it is of course conceivable, without departing from the scope of the invention, that one or more elements 121 may comprise more than one row of pins.

[0155] In all the embodiments and variants described above, the first longitudinal face 110 comprises a surface structure selected from: - ribs 111 defining cavities for capturing cosmetic product, - a plurality of second spikes 115 protruding from its surface and having on at least part of the surface of the first longitudinal face 110 a spike density greater than 1 spike per square millimeter.

[0156] It is certainly conceivable, without departing from the scope of the invention, that the surface structure of the first longitudinal face 110 could comprise both ribs 111 and secondary protrusions 115, again without departing from the scope of the present invention. According to this possibility, the secondary protrusions 115 could be arranged on the surface of the ribs 111 themselves, in the capture cavities defined by the ribs, or even on a portion of the surface of the first longitudinal face 110 devoid of ribs. Similarly, the invention is compatible with other types of surface structures, such as a network of cavities formed on the surface of the first longitudinal face, combined or not with secondary protrusions 115.
