Description

Terminal, wireless communication method, and base station

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a terminal, a wireless communication method, and a base station in a next-generation mobile communication system.

[0002] In Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) networks, Long Term Evolution (LTE) has been specified for purposes including further higher data rates and lower latency (Non-Patent Document 1). In addition, LTE-Advanced (3GPP Rel. 10-14) has been specified for purposes including further increased capacity and advancement of LTE (Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP (registered trademark)) Release (Rel.) 8, 9).

[0003] Systems succeeding LTE (for example, also referred to as 5th generation mobile communication system (5G), 5G+ (plus), 6th generation mobile communication system (6G), New Radio (NR), 3GPP Rel. 15 and later, and the like) are also under consideration.

[0004] 3GPP TS 36.300 V8.12.0 "Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) and Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN); Overall description; Stage 2 (Release 8)", April 2010

[0005] In future wireless communication systems (e.g., NR), there is a need to rapidly enable carrier aggregation (CA) operation for terminals (user terminals, User Equipment (UE)) transitioning from a Radio Resource Control (RRC) idle state / RRC inactive state to an RRC connected state. In particular, there is a need to set / enable CA operation when transitioning from an RRC idle state / RRC inactive state to an RRC connected state (in other words, before the transition to the RRC connected state is complete).

[0006] However, such CA operation has not been adequately considered. If this consideration is insufficient, there is a risk that high-speed data transmission cannot be achieved.

[0007] Therefore, one of the objectives of this disclosure is to provide a terminal, a wireless communication method, and a base station that can perform CA operation appropriately.

[0008] A terminal according to one aspect of the present disclosure is characterized by comprising: a control unit that performs measurements for a secondary cell before the completion of the transition to a radio resource control (RRC) connection state; and a transmission unit that reports the results of the measurements using a specific signal in at least one of the random access procedures and after the random access procedure.

[0009] According to one aspect of this disclosure, CA operation can be performed appropriately.

[0010] Figure 1 shows an example of a suspend setting in an RRC release message. Figure 2 shows an example of a transition from an RRC idle state to an RRC connected state. Figure 3 shows an example of a transition from an RRC inactive state to an RRC connected state. Figure 4 shows an example of a transition from an RRC inactive state to an RRC connected state. Figures 5A and 5B show an example of RRC state transitions and CA operation. Figure 6 shows an example of a schematic configuration of a wireless communication system according to one embodiment of this disclosure. Figure 7 shows an example of a base station configuration according to one embodiment of this disclosure. Figure 8 shows an example of a terminal configuration according to one embodiment of this disclosure. Figure 9 shows an example of a hardware configuration of a base station and terminal according to one embodiment of this disclosure.

[0011] (RRC State) A UE in the [RRC] Connected state can remain in the [RRC] Inactive state without completely releasing the RRC by receiving an RRC Release message with a SuspendConfig (Figure 1) from the NW when there is no traffic, and can quickly return to the [RRC] Connected state if necessary via an RRC Restart Request message from the UE or paging from the NW. A UE in the [RRC] Inactive state can transition to the [RRC] Idle state by RRC Release. A UE in the [RRC] Idle state can transition to the [RRC] Connected state via a random access procedure (e.g., a 4-step contention-based random access (CBRA) procedure).

[0012] In this disclosure, state, mode, and UE [in that state / mode] may be interpreted as mutually exclusive.

[0013] (Transition from RRC idle state to RRC connected state) In NR, as shown in Figure 2, a transition from the RRC idle state to the RRC connected state is defined, which is triggered by the UE.

[0014] In step 1, the UE in the RRC idle state sends an RRC setup request message (RRCSetupRequest) to the gNB. The UE uses this RRC setup request message to request that a new connection be set up from the RRC idle state.

[0015] In step 2, the gNB sends an RRC setup message (RRCSetup) to the UE. Upon receiving the RRC setup message, the UE transitions to the RRC connection state.

[0016] In step 2a, the UE sends an RRC setup complete message (RRCSetupComplete) to the gNB.

[0017] By completing step 2 / 2a above, the base station completes the RRC setup procedure.

[0018] (Transition from RRC inactive state to RRC connected state) <Transition from RRC inactive state to RRC connected state triggered by UE (RRC state transition procedure 1)> In NR, as shown in Figure 3, a transition from RRC inactive state to RRC connected state, triggered by UE, is defined.

[0019] In step 1, the UE in the RRC inactive state sends an RRC restart request message (RRCResumeRequest) to the gNB.

[0020] In step 2, the gNB sends an RRC restart message (RRCResume) to the UE. Upon receiving the RRC restart message, the UE transitions to the RRC connection state.

[0021] In step 3, the UE sends an RRC restart completion message (RRCResumeComplete) to the gNB.

[0022] By completing steps 2 / 3 above, the base station completes the resumption of the RRC connection.

[0023] <Transition from RRC inactive state to RRC connected state triggered by the network (RRC state transition procedure 2)> In NR, as shown in Figure 4, a transition from the RRC inactive state to the RRC connected state, triggered by the network, is defined.

[0024] In step 1, an event occurs in the last serving gNB that triggers paging.

[0025] In step 2, paging is triggered.

[0026] In step 3, UEs in an RRC inactive state are paged with a specific radio network temporary identifier (Inactive-Radio Network Temporary Identifier: I-RNTI).

[0027] In step 4, if the UE successfully reaches the RRC inactive state described above, the UE attempts to resume the connection from the RRC inactive state according to the RRC state transition procedure 1 described above.

[0028] (Paging) LTE supports notification of system information changes using paging messages to user terminals in RRC_CONNECTED mode and RRC_IDLE mode. System information change notification using paging messages is also supported in NR. In NR, system information change notifications using paging messages can be sent to user terminals in RRC_CONNECTED mode, RRC_IDLE mode, and RRC_INACTIVE mode.

[0029] In NR, the UE in RRC idle mode or RRC inactive mode performs discontinuous reception (DRX) at predetermined intervals to reduce power consumption. The UE monitors one paging occasion (PO) for each DRX cycle.

[0030] Here, PO is a set of monitoring occasions (periods for monitoring, PDCCH monitoring opportunities) for a downlink control channel (e.g., PDCCH). PO may consist of one or more time-domain resource units (e.g., one or more slots, one or more subframes, one or more symbols).

[0031] At the PO, downlink control information (DCI) (paging DCI, paging DCI, DCI format 1_0) is transmitted for scheduling a downlink shared channel (e.g., PDSCH) that transmits paging messages. The paging DCI may have cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits that are scrambled with a specific radio network temporary identifier (Paging-Radio Network Temporary Identifier: P-RNTI). When a user terminal detects downlink control information with a CRC scrambled with P-RNTI, it can determine that the downlink control information is a paging DCI for scheduling a PDSCH that transmits paging messages.

[0032] A single paging frame (PF) is a single wireless frame and may contain one or more pointing objects (POs). A PF may also be the starting point of a PO. Each wireless frame may be identified by a System Frame Number (SFN).

[0033] In RRC_CONNECTED mode, if a common search space (paging search space) for monitoring paging is provided, the UE will monitor the paging DCI at least once during the period of system information changes.

[0034] The UE receives instructions regarding at least one of system information changes and Public Warning System (PWS) notifications based on short messages transmitted by the paging DCI.

[0035] (UE Power Consumption Reduction) Several technologies are specified to reduce UE power consumption. - Hardware reduction: e.g., reduction of the number of antennas, reduction of bandwidth, introduction of half-duplex FDDs, etc. - Reduction of processing load: e.g., introduction of UEs with limited capabilities such as peak rate and bandwidth (low category in LTE, reduced capability (RedCap) in NR, etc.), dynamic optimization of some capabilities (dynamic reduction of the number of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) layers, etc.). - Optimization of PDCCH monitoring operation (e.g., transition to sleep state): e.g., discontinuous reception (DRX), wake-up signal (WUS), paging early indication (PEI), etc. - Optimization of existing operation for low power consumption: e.g., early data transmission (EDT) in LTE, small data transmission (SDT) in NR, etc.

[0036] WUS is a simple signal that notifies in advance whether a specific UE operation, such as PDCCH monitoring, is necessary. This allows the UE to detect in advance that a specific UE operation is unnecessary, and by omitting that operation, UE power consumption can be reduced. WUS is implemented in LTE and NR systems and supports multiple functions, including those for IDLE / INACTIVE mode and CONNECTED mode.

[0037] The PEI notifies the UE in advance whether there are any paging messages. If there are no paging messages addressed to the UE, the UE can reduce its power consumption by omitting the time / frequency synchronization, paging PDCCH reception, and paging message reception required for receiving paging messages.

[0038] EDT is a function that transmits small-sized data within the existing RACH operation.

[0039] (CSI Reporting) Rel. 15 In NR, a terminal (also called a user terminal, User Equipment (UE), etc.) generates (also called determining, calculating, estimating, measuring, etc.) Channel State Information (CSI) based on a Reference Signal (RS) (or a resource for said RS), and transmits (also called reporting, feedback, etc.) the generated CSI to the network (e.g., a base station). The CSI may be transmitted to the base station using, for example, an uplink control channel (e.g., a Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH)) or an uplink shared channel (e.g., a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH)).

[0040] The RS used to generate the CSI may be at least one of the following: Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS), Synchronization Signal / Physical Broadcast Channel (SS / PBCH) block, Synchronization Signal (SS), or Demodulation Reference Signal (DMRS).

[0041] The CSI-RS may include at least one of Non Zero Power (NZP) CSI-RS and CSI-Interference Management (CSI-Interference Measurement, CSI-IM). The SS / PBCH block is a block that includes SS and PBCH (and corresponding DMRS), and may be called an SS block (SSB), etc. The SS may also include at least one of a Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS) and a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS).

[0042] The CSI-RS for tracking may be referred to as a Tracking Reference Signal (TRS).

[0043] Note that CSI may include at least one of a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), a Precoding Matrix Indicator (PMI), a CSI-RS Resource Indicator (CRI), an SS / PBCH Block Resource Indicator (SSBRI, SSB index), a Layer Indicator (LI), a Rank Indicator (RI), L1-RSRP (Layer 1 Reference Signal Received Power), L1-RSRQ (Reference Signal Received Quality), L1-SINR (Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio), and L1-SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio).

[0044] The UE may receive information related to CSI reporting (report configuration information), and control the CSI reporting based on the report configuration information. The report configuration information may be, for example, "CSI-ReportConfig" of an Information Element (IE) of Radio Resource Control (RRC).

[0045] The report configuration information (for example, "CSI-ReportConfig" of RRC IE) may include, for example, at least one of the following: ◆ Information related to the type of CSI report (report type information, for example, "reportConfigType" of RRC IE) ◆ Information related to one or more quantities of CSI to be reported (one or more CSI parameters) (report quantity information, for example, "reportQuantity" of RRC IE) ◆ Information related to RS resources used for generating the quantities (the CSI parameters) (resource information, for example, "CSI-ResourceConfigId" of RRC IE) ◆ Information related to the frequency domain targeted for CSI reporting (frequency domain information, for example, "reportFreqConfiguration" of RRC IE)

[0046] For example, the report type information may indicate periodic CSI (Periodic CSI (P-CSI)) reporting, aperiodic CSI (Aperiodic CSI (A-CSI, AP-CSI)) reporting, or semi-persistent CSI (Semi-Persistent CSI (SP-CSI)) reporting.

[0047] Further, the report quantity information may specify at least one combination of the above CSI parameters (for example, CRI, RI, PMI, CQI, LI, L1-RSRP, etc.).

[0048] Further, the resource information may be an ID of an RS resource. The RS resource may include, for example, a non-zero power CSI-RS resource or SSB, and a CSI-IM resource (for example, a zero power CSI-RS resource).

[0049] Furthermore, frequency domain information may indicate the frequency granularity of the CSI report. This frequency granularity may include, for example, wideband and subband. The wideband is the entire CSI reporting band. The wideband may be, for example, the entire carrier (component carrier (CC), cell, serving cell) or the entire bandwidth part (BWP) within a carrier. The wideband may also be referred to as the CSI reporting band, the entire CSI reporting band, etc.

[0050] Furthermore, a subband may be part of the wideband and may consist of one or more resource blocks (Resource Blocks (RBs) or Physical Resource Blocks (PRBs)). The size of the subband may be determined according to the size of the BWP (number of PRBs).

[0051] Frequency domain information may indicate whether to report wideband or subband PMI (frequency domain information may include, for example, the RRC IE's "pmi-FormatIndicator" used to determine whether to report wideband PMI or subband PMI). Based on at least one of the above-mentioned reporting quantity information and frequency domain information, the UE may determine the frequency granularity of the CSI report (i.e., whether to report wideband PMI or subband PMI).

[0052] If wideband PMI reporting is established (decided), one wideband PMI may be reported for the entire CSI reporting band. On the other hand, if subband PMI reporting is established, a single wideband indication i1 may be reported for the entire CSI reporting band, and one subband indication i2 (e.g., subband indication for each subband) may be reported for one or more subbands within the entire CSI reporting band.

[0053] The UE performs channel estimation using the received RS and estimates the channel matrix H. The UE then feeds back the index (PMI) determined based on the estimated channel matrix.

[0054] PMI may represent a precoder matrix (also simply called a precoder) that a UE considers appropriate for use in downlink (DL) transmissions to the UE. Each value of PMI may correspond to a single precoder matrix. A set of PMI values may correspond to a different set of precoder matrices called a precoder codebook (also simply called a codebook).

[0055] In a spatial domain, a CSI report may include one or more types of CSIs. For example, the CSI may include at least one of a first type (Type 1 CSI) used for single-beam selection and a second type (Type 2 CSI) used for multi-beam selection. A single beam may be rephrased as a single layer, and a multi-beam as multiple beams. Furthermore, a Type 1 CSI may not assume multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO), while a Type 2 CSI may assume multi-user MIMO.

[0056] The above codebooks may include a codebook for Type 1 CSI (also referred to as a Type 1 codebook, etc.) and a codebook for Type 2 CSI (also referred to as a Type 2 codebook, etc.). Furthermore, Type 1 CSI may include Type 1 single-panel CSI and Type 1 multi-panel CSI, and different codebooks (Type 1 single-panel codebook and Type 1 multi-panel codebook) may be specified for each.

[0057] The Upbound Control Information (UCI) type may include at least one of Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest ACKnowledgement (HARQ-ACK), scheduling request (SR), or CSI. The UCI may be carried by PUCCH or by PUSCH.

[0058] In Rel. 15 NR, the UCI may include one CSI part for wideband PMI feedback. CSI report #n includes PMI wideband information, if reported.

[0059] In Rel. 15 NR, the UCI may include two CSI parts for subband PMI feedback. CSI part 1 contains wideband PMI information. CSI part 2 contains one wideband PMI piece and several subband PMI pieces. CSI parts 1 and 2 are encoded separately.

[0060] In Rel. 15 NR, the UE is configured by a higher layer with N (N≧1) CSI reporting settings and M (M≧1) CSI resource settings. For example, a CSI reporting setting (CSI-ReportConfig) includes a resource setting for channel measurement (resourcesForChannelMeasurement), a CSI-IM resource setting for interference (csi-IM-ResourceForInterference), an NZP-CSI-RS resource setting for interference (nzp-CSI-RS-ResourceForInterference), and a report quantity (reportQuantity). Each of the resource settings for channel measurement, the CSI-IM resource setting for interference, and the NZP-CSI-RS setting for interference is associated with a CSI resource setting (CSI-ResourceConfig, CSI-ResourceConfigId). The CSI resource configuration includes a list of CSI-RS resource sets (csi-RS-ResourceSetList, e.g., NZP-CSI-RS resource set or CSI-IM resource set).

[0061] To enable more dynamic channel / interference hypotheses for NCJT, targeting both FR1 and FR2, evaluation and specification of CSI reporting for at least one multi-TRP and multi-panel transmission of DL are being considered.

[0062] In this disclosure, Type 1 and Type I may be interpreted as interchangeable. In this disclosure, Type 2 and Type II may be interpreted as interchangeable.

[0063] In this disclosure, CSI-RS, periodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), semi-persistent CSI-RS (SP-CSI-RS), and aperiodic CSI-RS (AP-CSI-RS, A-CSI-RS) may be interpreted interchangeably. In this disclosure, CSI-RS, periodic CSI reporting (P-CSI reporting), semi-persistent CSI reporting (SP-CSI reporting), and aperiodic CSI reporting (AP-CSI reporting, A-CSI reporting) may be interpreted interchangeably.

[0064] (Initial Access Procedure) In the initial access procedure for 5G NR, the UE (RRC_IDLE mode) receives the SS / PBCH block (SSB), sends message (Msg.) 1 (PRACH / Random Access Preamble / Preamble), receives Msg. 2 (PDCCH, PDSCH including Random Access Response (RAR)), sends Msg. 3 (PUSCH scheduled by the RAR UL grant), and receives Msg. 4 (PDCCH, PDSCH including UE contention resolution identity). Subsequently, when the UE sends an ACK to Msg. 4 by the base station (network), the RRC connection is established (RRC_CONNECTED mode).

[0065] SSB reception includes PSS detection, SSS detection, PBCH-DMRS detection, and PBCH reception. PSS detection involves detecting a portion of the physical cell ID (PCI), detecting (synchronizing) OFDM symbol timing, and (coarse) frequency synchronization. SSS detection includes detecting the physical cell ID. PBCH-DMRS detection includes detecting a portion of the SSB index within a half-radio frame (5ms). PBCH reception includes detecting the system frame number (SFN) and radio frame timing (SSB index), receiving configuration information for receiving remaining minimum system information (RMSI, SIB1), and recognizing whether the UE can camp on to that cell (carrier).

[0066] SSB has a bandwidth of 20 RB and a duration of 4 symbols. The transmission period for SSB can be set from {5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160} ms. Within a half frame, multiple symbol positions for SSB are defined based on the frequency range (FR1, FR2).

[0067] A PBCH has a 56-bit payload. N repetitions of the PBCH are transmitted within an 80ms period. N depends on the SSB transmission period.

[0068] System information consists of MIB (Minimum Information Box) carried by PBCH, RMSI (SIB1), and other system information (OSI). SIB1 contains information for RACH configuration and RACH procedures. The time / frequency resource relationship between the SSB and the PDCCH monitoring resource for SIB1 is set by PBCH.

[0069] The PDSCH carrying SIB1 (SIB1 PDSCH) is transmitted periodically. This PDSCH is scheduled by type 0-PDCCH. One SSB corresponds to one SIB1 PDSCH. One SIB1 PDSCH may be repeated twice or not. SIB1 sets the public land mobile network (PLMN) ID. The PLMN ID may also be called the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) identifier.

[0070] A PLMN ID is a global and unique identifier used to identify an MNO (Mobile Network Operator).

[0071] The UE identifies the MNO performing the network access operation based on specific parameters within the system information (e.g., SIB1) (e.g., the PLMN ID information list within the cell access relation information (e.g., CellAccessRelatedInfo) (e.g., PLMN-IdentityInfoList)).

[0072] A base station using beam correspondence transmits multiple SSBs using multiple beams (analog beams) for each SSB transmission cycle. These multiple SSBs may be called SSB bursts. Each of these multiple SSBs has multiple SSB indices. When a UE detects one SSB, it transmits a PRACH in the RACH occasion associated with that SSB index and receives a RAR in the RAR window.

[0073] (Random Access Procedures) NR supports random access procedures for establishing UL synchronization. Random access procedures include collision-based random access (also known as Contention-Based Random Access (CBRA), etc.) and non-collision-based random access (also known as Non-CBRA, Contention-Free Random Access (CFRA), etc.).

[0074] In Collision-Type Random Access (CBRA), the User Encoder (UE) transmits a preamble randomly selected from several preambles defined for each cell (also known as a random access preamble, random access channel (PRACH), RACH preamble, etc.). Collision-Type Random Access is a UE-led random access procedure and can be used, for example, during initial access, or when starting or resuming UL transmission.

[0075] On the other hand, in non-collision random access (Non-CBRA, CFRA), the radio base station assigns a preamble to the UE specifically via the downlink control channel (Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH)), and the UE transmits the preamble assigned by the radio base station. Non-collision random access is a network-driven random access procedure and can be used, for example, during handover, or when DL transmission is started or resumed (when transmission of DL retransmission instruction information in UL is started or resumed).

[0076] For example, in collision-type random access, the UE receives information indicating the configuration of the random access channel (PRACH) (PRACH configuration information) in advance through system information (e.g., MIB (Master Information Block) and / or SIB (System Information Block)) or higher-layer signaling (e.g., RRC (Radio Resource Control) signaling).

[0077] The PRACH configuration information can include, for example, multiple preambles defined for each cell (e.g., preamble format), time resources used for PRACH transmission (e.g., system frame number, subframe number), and frequency resources (e.g., an offset indicating the starting position of a 6-resource block (PRB: Physical Resource Block) (prach-FrequencyOffset)).

[0078] When the UE transitions from the idle (RRC_IDLE) state to the RRC connected (RRC_CONNECTED) state (for example, during initial access), or when the RRC connected state is in place but UL synchronization has not been established (for example, when UL transmission is started or resumed), it randomly selects one of several preambles indicated by the PRACH configuration information and transmits the selected preamble via PRACH (Message 1, Msg. 1).

[0079] When a wireless base station detects a preamble, it sends a Random Access Response (RAR) in response (Message 2, Msg. 2). If the UE fails to receive the RAR within a predetermined period (RAR window) after sending the preamble, it increases the PRACH's transmission power and retransmits the preamble. This increase in transmission power during retransmission is also known as power ramping.

[0080] Upon receiving the RAR, the UE adjusts the UL transmission timing based on the timing advance (TA) included in the RAR and establishes UL synchronization. The UE also sends a control message for the upper layer (L2 / L3: Layer 2 / Layer 3) using the UL resource specified by the UL grant included in the RAR (Message 3, Msg. 3). This control message includes the UE identifier (UE-ID). This UE identifier may be, for example, C-RNTI (Cell-Radio Network Temporary Identifier) if the RRC connection is active, or it may be a higher layer UE-ID such as S-TMSI (System Architecture Evolution-Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity) if the state is idle.

[0081] The radio base station transmits a collision resolution message (Message 4, Msg. 4) in response to a control message from a higher layer. This collision resolution message is sent based on the identifier of the UE included in the control message. A UE that successfully detects the collision resolution message transmits an acknowledgment (ACK) in HARQ (Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest) to the radio base station. As a result, the idle UE transitions to the RRC connection state.

[0082] On the other hand, a UE that fails to detect the collision resolution message determines that a collision has occurred, re-selects a preamble, and repeats the random access procedure of messages 1 through 4. When the radio base station detects that the collision has been resolved by an ACK from the UE, it sends a UL grant to that UE. The UE then sends UL data using the UL resources allocated by the UL grant.

[0083] In the collision-type random access described above, the UE can autonomously initiate the random access procedure when it wishes to send UL data. Furthermore, since UL data is sent using UL resources specifically allocated to the UE by UL grants after UL synchronization is established, highly reliable UL transmission becomes possible.

[0084] A random access procedure that utilizes sending Msg. 1, receiving Msg. 2, sending Msg. 3, and receiving Msg. 4 is also called a four-step random access procedure, a four-step random access procedure, four-step RACH, or four-step random access (RA).

[0085] Furthermore, NR supports a two-step random access procedure. This two-step random access procedure is also called a two-step random access procedure, two-step RACH, or two-step RA.

[0086] The two-step RA may consist of a first step of transmitting from the UE to the base station and a second step of transmitting from the base station to the UE.

[0087] For example, in the first step, at least one of a UL signal and a UL channel (hereinafter also referred to as UL signal / UL channel), which include a preamble and a message, may be transmitted from the UE to the base station. The preamble may be configured to perform a similar role to message 1 (PRACH) in existing random access procedures. The message may be configured to perform a similar role to message 3 (PUSCH) in existing random access procedures. The message transmitted in the first step may be referred to as message A (Msg. A).

[0088] Furthermore, in the second step, at least one of the DL signal and DL channel (hereinafter also referred to as DL signal / DL channel), which includes a response and contention-resolution, may be transmitted from the base station to the UE. The response may be configured to perform a similar role to message 2 (random access response (RAR) transmitted via PDSCH) in existing random access procedures. The contention-resolution may be configured to perform a similar role to message 4 (PDSCH) in existing random access procedures. The message transmitted in the second step may be referred to as message B (Msg. B).

[0089] Furthermore, UE may send ACK / NACK in response to Msg. B. This ACK / NACK may be called ACK / NACK(A / N) for Msg. B, Msg. B ACK / NACK(A / N), HARQ-ACK for Msg. B, Msg. B HARQ-ACK, etc.

[0090] (SCell Activation Delay Requirements) The NR defines SCell activation delay requirements for deactivated secondary cells (SCell).

[0091] The UE receives an SCell activation command in slot n. After receiving the command, the UE sends a valid CSI report to slot n+(T HARQ Actions related to the activation command for SCells to be activated within (+Tactivation_time_withCCA+TCSI_reporting_withCCA) / NR_slot_length must be applicable.

[0092] T HARQ (ms) is the time between DL data transmission and delivery confirmation (acknowledgement (ACK)).

[0093] Tactivation_time_withCCA(ms) is the SCell activation delay and is related to known / unknown SCells in FR1 / FR2.

[0094] TCSI_reporting_withCCA is T CSI_reporting (Time required for CSI reporting) and T CSI_reportingDelay This is the sum of (the delay period related to CSI reporting) and relates to the delay in CSI reporting.

[0095] (Analysis) In future wireless communication systems, early SRS / CSI / CSI-RS (SRS / CSI / CSI-RS that can transmit / receive before transitioning to the RRC connected state) is being considered to enable fast and appropriate scheduling of primary cells (PCell) based on accurate CSI rather than conservative CSI, and to provide high-speed data transmission for UEs transitioning from RRC idle state / RRC inactive state to RRC connected state.

[0096] To enable high-speed data transmission rates for UEs transitioning from RRC idle / inactive states to RRC connected states, one area that should be enhanced is the rapid activation of carrier aggregation (CA) operations and appropriate MCS scheduling for activated SCells. MCS stands for Modulation and Coding Scheme.

[0097] In the existing system, the UE initially connects to one cell as a PCell. Subsequently, based on the measurement report from the UE, the NW sets up / activates the SCell for CA operation by RRC reconfiguration. Also, based on the CSI measurement / report for the SCell, the NW can use an appropriate MCS for scheduling the activated SCell. High-speed data transmission is not achieved during this period (for example, the period from the transition of the RRC state to the RRC reconfiguration for CA operation, or the period from the transition of the RRC state to the CSI report for the SCell).

[0098] For example, in an existing system, as shown in Figure 5A, during the transition from the RRC idle state / RRC inactive state to the RRC connected state, the UE connects to PCell after the RRC connection is established. Subsequently, in the RRC connected state, the CA is reset to RRC by the NW based on the measurement report from the UE, and the CSI is reported to the NW for appropriate MCS for SCell scheduling.

[0099] In future wireless communication systems, it will be necessary to consider high-speed CA operation during the transition from the RRC idle state / RRC inactive state to the RRC connected state. For example, in the example in Figure 5B, at least two of the following may occur in parallel (or simultaneously): the transition from the RRC idle state / RRC inactive state to the RRC connected state, the addition / activation of SCell, and the determination of an appropriate MCS for SCell scheduling. In this way, by setting the CA operation for the UE before the transition to the RRC connected state is completed, it is conceivable to shorten the time required for the RRC state transition and CA operation.

[0100] However, such CA operation has not been adequately considered. If this consideration is insufficient, there is a risk that high-speed data transmission cannot be achieved.

[0101] Therefore, the inventors have conceived of the following embodiments. According to one aspect of this disclosure, CA operation can be performed appropriately.

[0102] The embodiments relating to this disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. [0128] (Wireless communication method) <First embodiment> The first embodiment relates to UE operation for early measurement / reporting of SCell before / during transition of RRC state.

[0129] <<Problem 1>> In order for the network to be able to set CA operation when the user interface (UE) undergoes an RRC state transition (for example, after (or immediately after) the transition from the RRC idle state / RRC inactive state to the RRC connected state), the network needs to obtain early measurement reports about candidate SCells from the UE before / during the RRC state transition. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the trigger signal / reporting signal / UE capability for such early measurement reports.

[0130] In other words, at least one of the following needs to be considered: ◆ Issue 1-1: Triggering early measurement / reporting for SCell. ◆ Issue 1-2: Signaling to provide measurement reports from UE to NW before / during RRC state transitions. ◆ Issue 1-3: Signaling UE capability for early measurement / reporting for SCell.

[0131] <<Embodiment 1-1>> Embodiment 1-1 relates to problem 1-1.

[0132] Triggering early measurement / reporting for SCell may follow at least one of the following methods 1-1-1 to 1-1-4.

[0133] <<<Method 1-1-1>>> The UE may trigger an early measurement / report for SCell by at least one of the following: ◆ Message 2 [in a 4-step RA procedure] (e.g., at least one of RAR MAC CE, PDCCH for scheduling RAR, and PDSCH for transmitting RAR). ◆ Message 4 [in a 4-step RA procedure] (e.g., at least one of Message 4 PDCCH for scheduling PDSCH, and Message 4 PDSCH). ◆ Message B [in a 2-step RA procedure].

[0134] <<<Method 1-1-2>>> For early measurement / reporting for SCell, the DCI may be extended for paging PDCCH (e.g., DCI format 1_0 with CRC scrambled by P-RNTI) / paging early indication (PEI) PDCCH (e.g., DCI format 2_7 with CRC scrambled by PEI-RNTI). That is, the UE may trigger early measurement / reporting for SCell by the [extended] paging PDCCH / PDCCH [for PEI] [DCI [format]].

[0135] <<<Method 1-1-3>>> A signal to trigger early measurement / reporting for SCell is not required. That is, a UE capable of early measurement / reporting for SCell may decide to perform early measurement / reporting on its own (without receiving a signal to trigger early measurement / reporting for SCell).

[0136] <<<Method 1-1-4>>> The UE may trigger early measurement / reporting for SCell by the same signal that triggers early measurement / reporting for PCell, or it may trigger early measurement / reporting for SCell by a different signal than the signal that triggers early measurement / reporting for PCell.

[0137] For example, a single signal (e.g., the signal from method 1-1-1 / 1-1-2 above) may trigger early measurement / reporting for PCell and early measurement / reporting for SCell.

[0138] For example, a first signal (e.g., the signal in method 1-1-1 / 1-1-2 above) may trigger early measurement / reporting for PCell, and a second signal (e.g., the signal in method 1-1-1 / 1-1-2 above) may trigger early measurement / reporting for SCell. In this case, the types of the first signal and the second signal may be the same or different.

[0139] Furthermore, the above methods 1-1-1 / 1-1-2 / 1-1-3 / 1-1-4 may also be applied to triggering early measurement / reporting for PCell.

[0140] According to Embodiment 1-1, early measurement / reporting for SCell before / during the transition to the RRC state can be appropriately triggered.

[0141] <<Embodiment 1-2>> Embodiment 1-2 relates to problem 1-2.

[0142] The UE may report the results of an early measurement for SCell (early report) using at least one of the following: ◆ PUSCH for message 3 [in a 4-step RA procedure]. ◆ PUSCH for message A [in a 2-step RA procedure]. ◆ PUCCH for sending HARQ-ACK for message 4 [in a 4-step RA procedure]. ◆ PUCCH for sending HARQ-ACK for message B [in a 2-step RA procedure]. ◆ PUSCH scheduled in a specific DCI format (e.g., DCI format 0_0 / 1_0) during / after a [4-step / 2-step] RA procedure. ◆ UCI. ◆ MAC CE. ◆ RRC information element.

[0143] The UE may report the results of early measurements for SCell using the same signal as the signal that includes the report of the results of early measurements for PCell, or it may report the results of early measurements for SCell using a different signal than the signal that includes the report of the results of early measurements for PCell.

[0144] For example, the UE may use one signal (e.g., one of the signals mentioned above) to report the results of the early measurement for PCell and the results of the early measurement for SCell.

[0145] For example, the UE may use a first signal (e.g., any of the signals described above) to report the results of the early measurement for PCell, and a second signal (e.g., any of the signals described above) to report the results of the early measurement for SCell. In this case, the types of the first signal and the second signal may be the same or different.

[0146] Furthermore, the reporting of early measurement results for SCell described above may also be applied to the reporting of early measurement results for PCell.

[0147] According to Embodiment 1-2, early reporting for SCell before / during the transition to the RRC state can be appropriately performed.

[0148] <<Embodiment 1-3>> Embodiment 1-3 relates to problem 1-3.

[0149] A UE may report a specific UE capability using at least one of the following: ◆ RA preamble; ◆ RACH occasion; ◆ Message 3 [in a 4-step RA procedure]; ◆ Message A [in a 2-step RA procedure]; ◆ UL signal after completion of the RA procedure (e.g., PUCCH / PUSCH / UCI / MAC CE / RRC information element).

[0150] The above specific UE capabilities may include at least one of the following: ◆ Whether or not it supports CA. ◆ The maximum number of component carriers (CCs) for CA. ◆ Whether or not it supports early measurement / reporting for SCell in the RRC idle state / RRC inactive state (before the transition to the RRC connected state is complete). ◆ The maximum number of CCs for early measurement / reporting [for SCell] [in the RRC idle state / RRC inactive state].

[0151] According to Embodiments 1-3, it is possible to appropriately report capability information regarding early measurement / reporting for SCell before / during the transition to the RRC state.

[0152] According to the first embodiment described above, it is possible to appropriately perform operations for early measurement / reporting of SCell before / during the transition to the RRC state.

[0153] <Second Embodiment> The second embodiment relates to the measured / reported quantity for early measurement / reporting for SCell.

[0154] <<Challenge 2>> It is necessary to consider the measurement volume / reporting volume for early measurement / reporting for SCell.

[0155] For determining / judging whether to add / activate an SCell [by NW], the measurement results of L3 / L1-RSRP / RSRQ / SINR for each cell / beam / RS are sufficient.

[0156] On the other hand, if the network needs to be able to schedule SCell quickly and appropriately based on an accurate CSI rather than a conservative CSI for CA operation, then L1-CSI reporting of SCell is required.

[0157] Therefore, it is necessary to consider the measured quantities and reported content that will be reported from the UE to the NW for early measurement / reporting for SCell.

[0158] <<Embodiment 2-1>> At least one of the following options 1 to 4 may be set as the measured / reported quantity for early measurement / reporting for SCell. ◆ Option 1: L3-RSRP / RSRQ / SINR [for measurement results] at the beam / RS / cell level (per beam / RS / cell). ◆ Option 2: L1-RSRP / RSRQ / SINR [for measurement results] at the beam / RS / cell level (per beam / RS / cell). ◆ Option 3: [L1-]CSI (e.g., RI / PMI / CQI) per SCell. ◆ Option 4: A combination of options 1 to 3.

[0159] The UE may perform early measurement / reporting for SCell based on the set measurement / reporting quantity (e.g., at least one of options 1 to 4 above).

[0160] <<Embodiment 2-2>> For early measurement / reporting of SCells, at least one of the following may be set: ◆ Maximum number of reported SCells per frequency. ◆ Maximum number of reported SCells spanning multiple frequencies. ◆ Maximum number of RSs per reported SCell. ◆ Maximum number of RSs spanning multiple reported SCells (e.g., all SCells). ◆ Thresholds for [L3 / L1-]RSRP / RSRQ / SINR for UE selection for reporting.

[0161] According to the second embodiment described above, early measurement / reporting for SCell can be performed appropriately.

[0162] <Supplement> <<Notification of Information to UE / BS>> In the embodiments described above, notification of any information from the Network (NW) (e.g., Base Station (BS)) / NW node) to the UE / BS (in other words, reception of any information from the BS / NW node at the UE / BS) may be performed using physical layer signaling (e.g., DCI), higher layer signaling (e.g., RRC signaling, MAC CE, NAS signaling, LPP messages, NRPPa messages), specific signals / channels (e.g., PDCCH, PDSCH, reference signals), or a combination thereof.

[0163] When the above notification is made by a MAC CE, the MAC CE may be identified by the inclusion of a new Logical Channel ID (LCID) not defined in existing standards in the MAC subheader. [0171] If the above notice is made by the UCI, the notice may be transmitted using PUCCH or PUSCH.

[0172] Furthermore, notifications of arbitrary information from the UE / BS in the above-described embodiments may be periodic, semi-persistent, or aperiodic. Semi-persistent or aperiodic notifications of information may be triggered by instructions from the UE / BS / NW.

[0173] <<Regarding the application of each embodiment>> In a UE / BS, specific (e.g., one or more, or some) processing / operation / control / assumption / information for at least one of the embodiments described above may be applied (or used) if any or more of the following conditions are met: - A higher-layer parameter indicating the specific processing / operation / control / assumption / information is set in the UE / BS; - The specific processing / operation / control / assumption / information is determined in the UE / BS based on the relevant higher-layer parameter; - The specific processing / operation / control / assumption / information is designated / activated / triggered for the UE / BS by MAC CE / DCI / UCI / Resource / Channel / RS; - The UE / BS reports or supports a specific capability (e.g., UE capability) indicating (or related to) the specific processing / operation / control / assumption / information; - The application of the specific processing / operation / control / assumption / information is determined in the UE / BS based on specific conditions.

[0183] (Wireless Communication System) The configuration of a wireless communication system according to one embodiment of this disclosure will be described below. In this wireless communication system, communication is performed using any of the wireless communication methods according to the above embodiments of this disclosure, or a combination thereof.

[0184] Figure 6 shows an example of a schematic configuration of a wireless communication system according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. The wireless communication system 1 (which may also be simply called system 1) may be a system that realizes communication using Long Term Evolution (LTE), 5th generation mobile communication system New Radio (5G NR), etc., as specified by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).

[0185] Furthermore, the wireless communication system 1 may support dual connectivity between multiple Radio Access Technologies (RATs) (Multi-RAT Dual Connectivity (MR-DC)). MR-DC may include dual connectivity between LTE (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA)) and NR (E-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity (EN-DC)), dual connectivity between NR and LTE (NR-E-UTRA Dual Connectivity (NE-DC)), and the like.

[0186] In EN-DC, the LTE (E-UTRA) base station (eNB) is the Master Node (MN), and the NR base station (gNB) is the Secondary Node (SN). In NE-DC, the NR base station (gNB) is the MN, and the LTE (E-UTRA) base station (eNB) is the SN.

[0187] The wireless communication system 1 may support dual connectivity between multiple base stations within the same RAT (for example, dual connectivity where both MN and SN are NR base stations (gNB) (NR-NR Dual Connectivity (NN-DC))).

[0188] The wireless communication system 1 may include a base station 11 that forms a macrocell C1 with relatively wide coverage, and base stations 12 (12a-12c) located within the macrocell C1 that form a small cell C2 that is narrower than the macrocell C1. Terminals 20 may be located within at least one cell. The arrangement, number, shape, size, etc., of each cell and terminal 20 are not limited to the configuration shown in the figure. Hereinafter, when base stations 11 and 12 are not distinguished, they will be collectively referred to as base station 10.

[0189] The wireless communication system 1 may utilize Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO). For example, one cell may be formed by one antenna / base station 10, or by multiple antennas / base stations 10. One [virtual] cell (which may be called a supercell, for example) may be composed of multiple [virtual] cells (which may be called subcells, for example). A supercell may correspond to a cell with a fixed physical range, and a subcell may correspond to a cell whose physical range fluctuates quasi-statically / dynamically. In this case, the wireless communication system 1 may be called a cell-free system.

[0190] Terminal 20 may be connected to at least one of the multiple base stations 10. Terminal 20 may utilize at least one of Carrier Aggregation (CA) using multiple Component Carriers (CC) and Dual Connectivity (DC).

[0191] Each CC may be included in at least one of the first frequency band (Frequency Range 1 (FR1)) and the second frequency band (Frequency Range 2 (FR2)). A macrocell C1 may be included in FR1, and a small cell C2 may be included in FR2. For example, FR1 may be a frequency band of 6 GHz or less (sub-6 GHz), and FR2 may be a frequency band above 24 GHz. Note that the frequency bands and definitions of FR1 and FR2 are not limited to these, and for example, FR1 may be in a frequency band higher than FR2.

[0192] Furthermore, terminal 20 may communicate in each CC using at least one of time division duplex (TDD) and frequency division duplex (FDD).

[0193] Multiple base stations 10 may be connected by wire (e.g., optical fiber compliant with Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI), X2 / Xn interface, etc.) or wireless (e.g., NR communication). For example, when NR communication is used as a backhaul between base stations 11 and 12, base station 11, which is the upstream station, may be called an Integrated Access Backhaul (IAB) donor, and base station 12, which is the relay station, may be called an IAB node.

[0194] Base station 10 may be connected to the core network 30 via other base stations 10 or directly. The core network 30 may include at least one of the following: Evolved Packet Core (EPC), 5G Core Network (5GCN, 5GC), Next Generation Core (NGC), etc.

[0195] The core network 30 may include, for example, network functions (Network Functions (NFs)) such as User Plane Function (UPF), Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF), Session Management Function (SMF), Unified Data Management (UDM), Application Function (AF), Data Network (DN), Location Management Function (LMF), and Operation, Administration and Maintenance (Management) (OAM)). Multiple functions may be provided by a single network node (which may simply be called a node). Furthermore, communication with an external network (e.g., the Internet) may occur via the DN.

[0196] Terminal 20 may be a terminal that supports at least one of the following communication methods: LTE, LTE-A, 5G, etc.

[0197] In the wireless communication system 1, an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based wireless access scheme may be used. For example, Cyclic Prefix OFDM (CP-OFDM), Discrete Fourier Transform Spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-OFDM), etc., may be used in at least one of the downlink (DL) and uplink (UL).

[0281] In this disclosure, operations performed by a base station may, in some cases, be performed by its upper node, or by a part of it (e.g., CU, RU, DU, etc.). It is clear that various operations performed for communication with terminals in a RAN or core network may be performed by at least a part of the base station and other network nodes other than the base station. The other network nodes may be a single node or a combination of multiple nodes. A network node is, for example, a node provided in various core networks such as an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) or a 5G Core Network (5GCN, 5GC), and provides one or more Network Functions (NFs).

[0282] Furthermore, in this disclosure, the action of "a terminal receiving information from a base station" is accompanied by the actions of "a base station transmitting the information to the terminal," "a base station generating the information," or both. Similarly, the action of "a terminal transmitting information to a base station" is accompanied by the action of "a base station receiving the information from the terminal." In addition, actions such as "a terminal is configured to..." or "a terminal is configured to..." may include the actions of "a base station transmitting configuration information regarding the terminal's settings" or "the terminal configuring a predetermined action based on the configuration information."

[0283] Information notification is not limited to the embodiments described herein and may be carried out by other means. For example, information notification in this disclosure may be carried out by physical layer signaling (e.g., Downlink Control Information (DCI), Uplink Control Information (UCI)), higher layer signaling (e.g., Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling, broadcast information (Master Information Block (MIB), System Information Block (SIB)), Medium Access Control (MAC) signaling), other signals, or at least two combinations thereof.

[0284] Physical layer signaling may also be called Layer 1 (L1) control information. MAC signaling may be called, for example, a MAC control element (CE), a MAC protocol data unit (PDU), etc. RRC signaling may also be called an RRC message or an information element (IE) within such an RRC message. Such RRC signaling may be a message used for, for example, controlling an RRC connection (e.g., setup, reconfiguration, establishment, reestablishment, release, or resume), mobility, measurement report, terminal capability notification, etc., or it may be an information element within such a message.

[0285] Furthermore, notification of information may be explicit or implicit. Explicit notification of information means notifying the information itself, while implicit notification of information may be notification of other information or the fulfillment of certain conditions which constitutes notification of the information.

[0286] Furthermore, information notification may include not only notifications between the same layer of different devices (for example, between lower layers or upper layers of base station 10 and terminal 20), but also notifications between different layers within the same or different devices (for example, between lower layers and upper layers within base station 10 or terminal 20). Also, information notification from one device to another may be carried out via one or more devices.

[0287] Any information described in this disclosure (e.g., variables, constants, parameters, settings) may be communicated from any first device (e.g., terminal / base station) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any first device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / terminal) to any second device (e.g., base station / base station

[0288] Each aspect / embodiment described in this disclosure may be used individually, in combination, or switched between during execution. Furthermore, the processing procedures, sequences, flowcharts, etc., of each aspect / embodiment described in this disclosure may be rearranged in order, provided they are consistent. For example, the methods described in this disclosure present various step elements using exemplary order and are not limited to the specific order presented. Also, at least one step may be omitted in the processing procedures, sequences, flowcharts, etc., of each aspect / embodiment described in this disclosure.

[0289] Any reference to elements using the designations “first,” “second,” etc., as used in this disclosure does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. These designations may be used in this disclosure as a convenient way to distinguish between two or more elements. Accordingly, the references to the first and second elements do not imply that only two elements may be employed or that the first element must precede the second element in any way.

[0290] In this disclosure, a radio resource may be defined as a combination of units of resources in one or more domains, such as the time domain, frequency domain, spatial domain, code domain, and power domain.

[0291] For example, a resource in the time domain (which may also be called a time resource) may be defined by one or more time units. These one or more time units may include, for example, a radio frame, a subframe, a slot, a symbol, and a transmission time interval (TTI), or at least two of these, but the names of the time units are not limited to these. Furthermore, these time units may be fixed-length time units that do not depend on numerology, variable-length time units that depend on numerology, or both.

[0292] Examples of fixed-length time units include, but are not limited to, subframes consisting of one or more slots, and wireless frames containing multiple subframes. Examples of variable-length time units include, but are not limited to, symbols and slots containing a fixed number of symbols. A certain time unit may be divided into shorter time units. Examples of shorter time units include, but are not limited to, mini-slots consisting of fewer symbols than the number of symbols that make up a slot. Such time units may include, for example, time units used as units for scheduling, link adaptation, etc. Furthermore, any time unit in this disclosure may be interpreted as a substitute for another time unit.

[0293] Numerology refers to parameters that define the physical layer structure, and may be parameters based on at least one of the following: subcarrier spacing (SCS), symbol length, cyclic prefix length, and sampling time.

[0294] Resources in the frequency domain (which may also be called frequency resources) may be defined, for example, by one or more frequency units. Such one or more frequency units may include, for example, subcarriers, resource blocks (RBs), bandwidth parts (BWPs), carrier bandwidths, or at least two combinations thereof, but the names of frequency units are not limited to these. Furthermore, the number of subcarriers included in a frequency unit may be a fixed number regardless of the neurology, or it may be a variable number that changes depending on the neurology.

[0295] For example, an RB consists of a predetermined number of consecutive subcarriers in the frequency domain, and the number of subcarriers included in the RB may be the same regardless of the neurology, and may be, for example, 12, but is not limited thereto. Also, a BWP may consist of, for example, one or more consecutive RBs within a certain carrier bandwidth, but is not limited thereto. One or more BWPs may be set up for a terminal 20 within a single carrier, and at least one of the BWPs may be activated. Furthermore, any frequency unit in this disclosure may be interpreted as any other frequency unit.

[0296] Furthermore, resources in both the time domain and the frequency domain may be defined in one or more time / frequency units, for example, consisting of time units and frequency units. Such time / frequency units are, but are not limited to, a Resource Element (RE) consisting of one symbol and one subcarrier, a Resource Element Group (REG) consisting of a predetermined number of REs, or a Control Resource Set (CORESET) consisting of a predetermined number of symbols and a predetermined number of RBs.

[0297] Resources in a spatial domain (which may also be called spatial resources) may be defined, for example, by one or more spatial units. Such one or more spatial units include, but are not limited to, beams, Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) layers, antenna ports, or at least two combinations thereof.

[0298] Resources in the code domain (which may also be called code resources) may be defined, for example, by one or more code units. These one or more code units include, but are not limited to, cyclic shifts (CS), orthogonal cover codes (OCC), or combinations thereof.
