For the sake of clarity, the forward / backward, up / down, and left / right directions will be defined and described based on the perspective of an occupant seated in the vehicle seat (hereinafter referred to as the "seatee"). In the following description, where necessary, the direction away from the seatee in the left / right direction will be referred to as the "outside of the seat," and the direction towards the seatee will be referred to as the "inside of the seat."

[0054] <<First Embodiment>> The vehicle seat 1 is a seat in which one occupant can sit. For example, as shown in Figure 1, the vehicle seat 1 may constitute a passenger seat. The vehicle seat 1 is placed in the passenger compartment (vehicle compartment 2) of an automobile, which has two rows of seats, front and rear. In Figure 1, the right side corresponds to the interior of the vehicle and the left side corresponds to the exterior of the vehicle.

[0055] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the vehicle seat 1 has a seat body 3 on which a person sits. The seat body 3 is placed on the floor 4 that defines the lower edge of the vehicle compartment 2. The seat body 3 has a seat cushion 6 and a seat back 7 that extends upward from the rear of the seat cushion 6.

[0056] The seat cushion 6 constitutes the seat surface 6S on which the sitter sits, and supports the sitter's buttocks. The front of the seat back 7 constitutes the backrest surface 7S on which the sitter leans, and supports the sitter's back. Hereafter, the seat surface 6S and the backrest surface 7S will be collectively referred to as the seat surface 3S, as necessary.

[0057] In this embodiment, a headrest 8 is provided on the upper part of the seat back 7. The headrest 8 supports the occupant's head from behind. The headrest 8 has two pillars 10 (also called headrest pillars) that protrude downward. The headrest 8 is connected to the seat back 7 by inserting each of its pillars 10 into a headrest guide 11 (see Figure 3) provided on the upper part of the seat back 7.

[0058] In addition, the seat body 3 may be provided with armrests (not shown) to support the occupant's arms. The armrests are preferably columnar in shape extending in the front-to-back direction and rotatably connected at their rear ends to the left and right sides of the seat back 7 about an axis extending in the left-to-right direction.

[0059] The seat cushion 6 is connected to the floor 4 via a pair of left and right slide rails 14. This allows the seat body 3 to be supported on the floor 4 so that it can slide.

[0060] <Seat Cushion Frame> As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the seat cushion 6 has a cushion frame 16 (see Figures 3 and 4) that forms the skeleton, a pad member 17 (see Figure 4) supported by the cushion frame 16, and a surface material 18 (see Figure 4) that covers the surface of the pad member 17. In cases where it is necessary to distinguish it from the members provided on the seat back 7, the pad member 17 may be called the cushion pad member, and the surface material 18 may be called the cushion surface material.

The pillar 10 is inserted into the opening at the upper end of the headrest guide 11, thereby supporting the headrest 8 on the upper part of the seat back 7.

[0083] As shown in Figure 7, an airbag module 54 may be fixed to the side of the backside member 46 that is on the outside of the seat. The airbag module 54 may be fixed to one side of the backside member 46 that is on the outside of the seat (for example, the side facing the outside of the vehicle), or it may be fixed to both sides.

[0084] The seat back 7 further includes a back pressure receiving member 55 positioned between the left and right back side members 46. The back pressure receiving member 55 spans the back upper member 47 and the back lower member 48. The back pressure receiving member 55 receives a portion of the load from the occupant leaning against the seat back 7 via a pad member 43, and supports the occupant's upper body, including their back.

[0085] The back pressure receiving member 55 includes a back wire 56 stretched across the back frame 45 and a pressure receiving plate 57 supported by the back frame 45 via the back wire 56.

[0086] The back wire 56 is made of a flexible metal wire (also called a rod-shaped member or wire spring) that has been bent. The back wire 56 has a pair of left and right vertical frame portions 56A and lower frame portions 56B that extend to the left and right and connect the lower ends of the vertical frame portions 56A, and has a substantially U-shape. The upper ends of the vertical frame portions 56A are each connected to the lower edge of the back cross member 53, and the lower frame portions 56B are connected to the back lower member 48. As a result, the back pressure receiving member 55 is connected to the back frame 45 while being spanned across it.

[0087] The pressure-receiving plate 57 is made of a flexible resin plate-like member. The pressure-receiving plate 57 is located inside the back frame 45, in the lower half thereof, and is connected to the back wire 56 from the front. In this way, the pressure-receiving plate 57 is supported by the back frame 45 via the back wire 56.

[0088] The pad member 43 that constitutes the seat back 7 is positioned in front of the back pressure receiving member 55. A portion of the rear surface of the pad member 43 abuts against the front surface of the pressure receiving plate 57, and the pad member 43 is supported by the back frame 45 and the back pressure receiving member 55.

[0089] When a occupant leans against the seatback 7 and a load is applied to the front of the seatback 7, a portion of that load is transmitted to the back pressure receiving member 55 via the pad member 43. The back pressure receiving member 55 receives the load applied by the occupant via the pad member 43 and supports the occupant's back.

[0090] Note that the back pressure receiving member 55 shown in Figures 4 and 8 is merely an example, and the back pressure receiving member 55 may be composed of, for example, metal wires that meander in the left-right direction and are fixed at both ends to the left and right back side members 46, respectively.

[0091] <Air Blower Unit> As shown in Figures 4 and 7, the vehicle seat 1 is equipped with an air blower unit 61. The air blower unit 61 is a device that provides both air to the ventilation passage 31 located inside the seat cushion 6 and air to the seated person located behind the seat body 3.

[0092] As shown in Figure 4, the air blowing unit 61 includes a blower 62, a first duct 63 and a second duct 64, and an air outlet forming section 65.

[0093] Blower 62 is an example of a blower, and is equipped with one intake port 66 and two discharge ports 67. Blower 62 can draw in air from intake port 66 and exhaust air simultaneously from the two discharge ports 67. However, blower 62 may be configured to be able to exhaust air simultaneously from both discharge ports 67, as well as selectively exhaust air from either one of the discharge ports 67. In that case, it is preferable that blower 62 be provided with a switch or the like for selecting the exhaust mode and / or discharge port 67. Hereinafter, one of the discharge ports 67 will be referred to as the first discharge port 67A, and the other discharge port 67 as the second discharge port 67B.

[0094] The blower 62 is positioned so that its intake port 66 faces downward, its first discharge port 67A faces forward, and its second discharge port 67B faces rearward, and is coupled to the lower surface of the cushion frame 16 behind the through hole 36. In this embodiment, the blower 62 is coupled to the lower surface of the bottom 26A of the cushion pressure receiving member 26. Alternatively, the blower 62 may be coupled to the cushion pressure receiving member 26 by fastening it to a boss or the like provided on the bottom 26A.

[0095] The first duct 63 is a cylindrical member, and is made of, for example, a resin member. As shown in Figure 8, the first duct 63 is connected to the first discharge port 67A at one end (also called the upstream end). As shown in Figure 4, the first duct 63 extends forward from the first discharge port 67A, then bends upward and passes through the through hole 36 of the forward inclined portion 26B (see also Figure 8), and the other end (also called the downstream end) is connected to the inlet 35A of the pad member 17. In this way, the first duct 63 connects the first discharge port 67A to the ventilation passage 31 formed inside the pad member 17 of the seat cushion 6. A flexible bellows section may be provided near the downstream end of the first duct 63 to accommodate deformation of the cushion pressure receiving member 26 due to the load when seated.

[0096] The second duct 64 is a cylindrical member, made of, for example, a resin member. The second duct 64 is connected to the second discharge port 67B at one end (also called the upstream end). The second duct 64 extends rearward from the second discharge port 67B, then bends upward behind the rear member 23, and is introduced into the interior of the seat back 7. Inside the seat back 7, the second duct 64 passes behind the back lower member 48, extends upward, and is connected to the air intake port forming section 65. By arranging the second duct 64 to pass behind the back lower member 48 in this way, the second duct 64 can be easily installed in the seat back 7 even after the pad member 43 of the seat back 7 is assembled to the back frame 42, compared to when it passes in front of the back lower member 48.

[0097] Furthermore, a flexible bellows section may be provided near the portion of the second duct 64 that bends upward behind the rear member 23. This allows the second duct 64 to more reliably follow the rotation (i.e., reclining) of the back frame 42 relative to the cushion frame 16.

[0098] The air vent forming portion 65 is a roughly rectangular tubular member, and is made of, for example, a resin member. As shown in Figure 2, an opening (not shown) is formed in the surface material 44 of the seat back 7 at a position corresponding to the air vent forming portion 65. The air vent forming portion 65 is fixed to the surface material 44 by stitching, adhesive, or locking at a position that overlaps with the opening formed in the surface material 44.

[0099] The air inlet forming portion 65 is provided with a locking portion 65A that protrudes upward from its outer circumferential surface. A clip is provided on the front surface of the locking portion 65A, and the back cross member 53 is provided with a locking hole (not shown) into which the locking portion 65A is locked. As shown in Figure 7, when the locking portion 65A is locked into the locking hole, the air inlet forming portion 65 is coupled to the lower part of the back cross member 53 at its upper part and supported by the back frame 42 at its upper part.

[0100] The air intake forming section 65 is equipped with an air intake 68 that penetrates in the front-to-back direction. The air intake 68 is substantially rectangular in shape when viewed from the front. The air intake forming section 65 defines the edge of the air intake 68. In this embodiment, a louver 69 for changing the direction of airflow is provided on the air intake 68.

[0101] As shown in Figure 4, the second duct 64 extends upward inside the seat back 7 and is connected to the air intake 68 at its downstream end. This creates an air intake 68 on the rear surface of the seat back 7 that opens towards the rear and supplies air to the rear seat occupants. The second duct 64 also connects the second discharge port 67B to the air intake 68 and is supported by the back frame 42 at its downstream end via the air intake forming section 65. In the example shown in Figure 7, the downstream end of the second duct 64 is configured to expand to match the shape of the air intake 68.

[0102] Next, the operation of the vehicle seat 1 configured in this way, and in particular the operation and effects of its air blower unit 61, will be described.

[0103] When the blower 62 is activated, air is drawn in through the intake port 66 and discharged from the first discharge port 67A and the second discharge port 67B, respectively. The air discharged from the first discharge port 67A passes through the first duct 63 and is introduced into the ventilation passage 31 provided inside the pad member 17 of the seat cushion 6. The air introduced into the ventilation passage 31 is discharged to the outside of the seat cushion 6 through the opening 40, allowing air to circulate between the occupant and the seat.

[0104] At the same time, the air discharged from the second outlet 67B passes through the second duct 64 and is discharged rearward from the air outlet 68 of the air outlet forming section 65. Therefore, a single air blowing unit 61 can achieve both air circulation between the seated person and the seating surface 3S, and air supply to the occupants seated in the rear seats.

[0105] <First Modified Example> In the above embodiment, the second duct 64 was configured to extend upward at its downstream end, but as shown in Figure 9, it may be bent in the sheet width direction near the downstream end and connected to the air inlet forming portion 65.

[0106] <Second to Fourth Modifications> In the above embodiment, the air blowing unit 61 was configured to blow air towards the buttocks of the seated person and towards the seated person in the rear seat. However, a unit can also be configured that is solely for the purpose of blowing air towards the seated person in the rear seat.

[0107] Figures 10(A) to (C) show three modified versions (hereinafter referred to as the second to fourth modified versions) in which the air blower unit 61 is built into the seat back 7 and is configured as a unit solely for the purpose of blowing air toward the rear seat occupants. In the second to fourth modified versions, the air blower unit 61 has a blower 62 with one intake port 66 and one discharge port 67, an intake duct 71 connected to the intake port 66, and an exhaust duct 72 connected to the discharge port 67.

[0108] As shown in Figure 10(A), in the second modified example, the blower 62 is connected to the rear surface of the back cross member 53, approximately in the center in the left-right direction. Intake port forming portions 74 are provided on the left and right sides of the upper end of the seat back 7. The intake port forming portion 74 is cylindrical and connected to the seat back 7 at one end. At the other end, the intake port forming portion 74 forms an intake port 74A that opens forward. The intake duct 71 connects the intake port forming portion 74 to the intake port 66 of the blower 62. An air supply port forming portion 65 similar to that in Figure 2 is provided on the back of the seat back 7, and the exhaust duct 72 connects the discharge port 67 of the blower 62 to the air supply port 68 of the air supply port forming portion 65. When the blower 62 is driven, air is drawn in from the intake port 74A of the intake port forming portion 74, and air is sent out towards the rear seat from the air supply port 68.

[0109] As shown in Figure 10(B), in the third modified example, similar to Figure 2, an air inlet forming portion 65 is provided on the back cross member 53. An extension portion 65B is provided on the air inlet forming portion 65. The extension portion 65B is connected to the right outer surface and the lower outer surface of the air inlet forming portion 65, has a plate-like shape with a surface facing in the front-rear direction, and is housed inside the seat back 7. The blower 62 is connected to the rear surface of its extension portion 65B. An intake port forming portion 74 is further connected to the rear surface of the extension portion 65B. The intake port forming portion 74 has a bottomed, roughly rectangular box shape and protrudes toward the rear. The rear end of the intake port forming portion 74 passes through an opening provided in the surface material 44 of the seat back 7 and reaches the outside of the seat back 7, forming an intake port 74A that opens toward the rear. Connection ports 74B to which the intake duct 71 is connected are provided on the left and right sides of the intake port forming portion 74.

[0110] One end of the intake duct 71 is connected to the intake port 66 of the blower 62, and the other end is connected to the suction port 74A via the connection port 74B. One end of the exhaust duct 72 is connected to the discharge port 67 of the blower 62, and the other end is connected to the air outlet 68 of the air outlet forming section 65.

[0111] In the case shown in Figure 10(B), when the blower 62 is driven, air is drawn in from the intake port 74A of the intake port forming section 74, and the air is sent out towards the rear seats from the air outlet 68. In the example shown in Figure 10(B), the intake port 74A is located below the air outlet 68. The intake port 74A may be provided with a mesh-like screen (not shown) to prevent the entry of foreign matter such as dust, and the air outlet 68 may be provided with a louver 69 for changing the direction of airflow, similar to the first embodiment.

[0112] As shown in Figure 10(C), in the fourth modified example, the air supply port 68 is provided on the upper rear surface of the seat back 7, and the air intake port 74A is provided on the lower rear surface of the seat back 7.

[0113] As shown in Figure 10(C), the blower 62 is connected to the rear surface of the extension 65B of the air inlet forming portion 65, similar to the third modified example. A lower plate 75 having a rearward-facing surface is provided at the lower part of the seat back 7. The lower plate 75 is provided with an intake port forming portion 74, similar to the third modified example. The intake port forming portion 74 forms an intake port 74A that opens towards the rear. The intake port forming portion 74 has a connection port 74B on its upper side to which the intake duct 71 is connected.

[0114] The lower plate 75 is connected to the back lower member 48 and supported by the back frame 42. The surface material 44 of the seat back 7 may be provided with an opening (not shown) for passing the rear end of the intake port forming portion 74.

[0115] One end of the intake duct 71 is connected to the intake port 66 of the blower 62 and extends downward, while the other end is connected to the suction port 74A via the connection port 74B. One end of the exhaust duct 72 is connected to the discharge port 67 of the blower 62, and the other end is connected to the air outlet 68 of the air outlet forming section 65.

[0116] In the case shown in Figure 10(C), when the blower 62 is driven, air is drawn in from the intake port 74A of the intake port forming section 74, and the air is sent out towards the rear seats from the air outlet 68. In the example shown in Figure 10(C), the intake port 74A is located below the air outlet 68. The intake port 74A may be provided with a mesh-like screen (not shown) to prevent the entry of foreign matter such as dust, and the air outlet 68 may be provided with a louver 69 for changing the direction of airflow, similar to the first embodiment.

[0117] <Fifth Modification> Figure 11(A) shows a vehicle seat 1 according to the fifth modification. In the vehicle seat 1 according to the fifth modification, the air blower unit 61 is configured to blow air towards the buttocks of the seated person and towards the seated person in the rear seat, similar to the first embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 8. However, the fifth modification differs in that a back table 81 is provided on the rear surface of the seat back 7, and the other configurations are the same as in the above embodiment.

[0118] The back table 81 comprises a table body 83 that is roughly flat and a shaft portion 84 provided on the edge of the table body 83.

[0119] The table body 83 is roughly rectangular in shape. The shaft portions 84 are provided on each of the end faces in the shorter direction of the table body 83. Each shaft portion 84 is cylindrical in shape and protrudes outward along a predetermined axis.

[0120] The air intake vent forming section 65 is provided with a pair of left and right support sections 85. Each support section 85 is connected to the rear surface of the cross member and protrudes rearward. The support sections 85 pass through through holes provided in the upholstery material 44 of the seat back 7 and extend to the rear of the upholstery material 44 of the seat back 7.

[0121] The support portion 85 may be integrally molded with the air outlet forming portion 65, or it may be made of a separate resin member. If the support portion 85 is made of a separate resin member, it may be fixed by clipping it into a locking hole provided in the air outlet forming portion 65.

[0122] Each support portion 85, on its inner surface on the inside of the sheet, supports the left and right ends of the shaft portion 84 so that they can rotate around a rotation axis extending in the left-right direction.

[0123] As a result, the back table 81 is rotatably connected to the rear surface of the seat back 7 about an axis extending in the left-right direction. Rotation around this axis causes the back table 81 to be displaced between an open position where the table body 83 is horizontal and the air vent 68 is open, and a closed position where the table body 83 extends vertically and the air vent 68 is closed. When the back table 81 is in the open position, its upper surface forms a horizontal plane and functions as a table on which objects can be placed.

[0124] In the fifth modified example of the vehicle seat 1, as shown in Figure 11(A), the back table 81 is displaced from the open position to the closed position by rotating upward (see the arrow in Figure 11(A)).

[0125] In this way, the air vent 68 can be opened and closed by changing the position of the back table 81. Therefore, since the air vent 68 can be opened and closed by the back table 81 without the need to provide a separate member for closing the air vent 68, the number of parts in the vehicle seat 1 can be reduced, and the cost can be reduced while ensuring convenience.

[0126] The back table 81 is connected to the back cross member 53 (also called a bracket) via the support portion 85 and the air supply port forming portion 65, and is supported by the back frame 42. This allows the back table 81 to be properly supported by the seat body 3.

[0127] Furthermore, an upper pocket 86 for storing items may be provided at the top of the seat back 7.

[0128] <Sixth Modification> Figure 11(B) shows a vehicle seat 1 according to the sixth modification. The vehicle seat 1 according to the sixth modification differs from the vehicle seat 1 according to the fifth modification in that the support portion 85 is provided on the back cross member 53 (bracket), the air supply port 68 is provided below the shaft portion 84, and the back table 81 rotates downward (see the arrow in Figure 11(B)) to displace from the open position to the closed position. The other configurations are the same as those of the fifth modification, so their explanation is omitted.

[0129] In the sixth modified example, the support portion 85 may be integrally molded with the back cross member 53, or it may be made of a separate resin member. If the support portion 85 is made of a separate resin member, it may be fixed by clipping it into a locking hole provided in the back cross member 53.

[0130] In the sixth modified example, as in the fifth modified example, the air outlet 68 can be opened and closed by changing the position of the back table 81.

[0131] <<Second Embodiment>> In the first embodiment described above, the air blower unit 61 was built into the seat body 3, but it can also be configured as an external unit that can be attached to the seat body 3. However, in this case, the air blower unit 61 is configured solely for the purpose of blowing air towards the rear seat occupants.

[0132] Figures 12 and 13 show perspective views of a vehicle seat 1 in an embodiment (second embodiment) in which the air blower unit 101 is configured as an external unit intended solely for blowing air toward the rear seat occupants.

[0133] As shown in Figures 12 and 13, the blower unit 101 according to the second embodiment includes an intake port 102 (see Figure 12) that opens forward and an exhaust port 103 (see Figure 13) that opens rearward. Air drawn in through the intake port 102 passes through the inside of the blower unit 101 and is discharged rearward through the exhaust port 103. This allows air to be blown towards the rear seat occupants.

[0134] As shown in Figure 13, the air blower unit 101 may be equipped with a pair of fastening parts 104 that can be fastened to each of the pillars 10 of the headrest 8. In addition, as shown in Figure 14, the air blower unit 101 may be equipped with a pair of hooks 105 that can be fastened to the upper end of the seat back 7. The number of hooks 105 provided on the air blower unit 101 is not limited to two; the air blower unit 101 may be equipped with one hook 105, or it may be equipped with three or more hooks 105.

[0135] Figure 15 shows an exploded perspective view illustrating an example of a blower unit 101 configured in this way.

[0136] In the example shown in Figure 15, the blower unit 101 includes a blower 107, a duct 108, an air outlet forming member 109, a control device 110, a switch 111, and a cover member 112.

[0137] The blower 107 according to this embodiment is composed of a centrifugal fan (a so-called Sirocco fan). The blower 107 comprises an impeller (not shown) that rotates around a rotation axis and a casing that houses the impeller.

[0138] The casing comprises a side wall portion 116 facing the impeller in the direction of the rotation axis and equipped with an air intake port 115, and a scroll-shaped portion 117 formed circumferentially along the outer circumference of the impeller.

[0139] The scroll-shaped section 117 is configured to collect air sent from the impeller to the outer circumference. The scroll-shaped section 117 is provided with a discharge port 118 that opens tangentially to the outer circumference of the impeller. The air sent from the impeller flows along the tangential direction to the outer circumference of the impeller and is discharged from the discharge port 118.

[0140] The duct 108 is connected to the discharge port 118. The duct 108 has a first extended portion 121 that extends tangentially from the discharge port 118 to the outer circumference of the impeller and is bent horizontally, and a second extended portion 122 that is continuous with the first extended portion 121 and extends horizontally.

[0141] The first extended portion 121 is shaped like a rectangular tube. Preferably, the bent portion of the first extended portion 121 is smoothly bent to guide the airflow.

[0142] As shown in Figure 16, the second extension 122 has a front wall 122A, a rear wall 122B, an upper wall 122C, a lower wall 122D, and a side wall 122E, and is in the shape of a roughly rectangular parallelepiped extending horizontally. The second extension 122 opens toward the first extension 121 and is connected to the first extension 121 at the opening.

[0143] The rear wall 122B of the second extension 122 is provided with a roughly rectangular outlet 124 for guiding the air that has flowed into the second extension 122 to the outside. An air outlet forming member 109 is connected to this outlet 124.

[0144] The inner bore of the second extension 122 is provided with a curved rib 126 that protrudes from the front wall 122A toward the outlet 124. The curved rib 126 extends vertically along the front wall 122A to alter the airflow from the discharge port 118. In this embodiment, the curved rib 126 curves away from the blower 107 at its base end and then protrudes toward the rear. As a result, the air sent from the blower 107 is well guided toward the rear (i.e., toward the outlet 124) by the side surface of the curved rib 126. Therefore, an airflow can be created within the duct 108 from the outlet of the blower 107 to the air outlet forming member 109, and the flow velocity distribution of the air introduced into the air outlet forming member 109 within the cross-section of the outlet 124 can be made more uniform. In this embodiment, two curved ribs 126 are arranged horizontally side by side in the second extension 122, and the upper edge of each curved rib 126 is connected to the front wall 122A.

[0145] The air outlet forming member 109 comprises a rectangular cylindrical portion 131 extending in the front-rear direction and a plurality of louvers 132 provided in the inner bore of the cylindrical portion 131 (see the enlarged view of Figure 13). The air outlet forming member 109 is connected to the outlet 124 to define the air outlet of the air blowing unit 101. It is preferable that the louvers 132 are rotatably supported relative to the cylindrical portion 131 in order to change the direction of air discharge from the air outlet forming member 109.

[0146] The control device 110 is composed of an electronic control unit (ECU) and controls the drive of the blower 107 in response to the input to the switch 111.

[0147] The cover member 112 has an opening facing forward and includes a housing member 141 that houses the blower 107, the duct 108, the air outlet forming member 109, the control device 110, and the switch 111, and a cap member 142 that seals the opening of the housing member 141.

[0148] As shown in Figure 13, the housing member 141 is provided with an opening 145 into which the rear end portion of the air outlet forming member 109 is fitted, and a switch hole 146 for enabling the operation of the switch 111. Also, as shown in Figure 15, the cap member 142 is provided with a hole 147 for enabling air to flow into the intake port 102.

[0149] The cover member 112 may be directly connected to the upper rear surface of the seat back 7, thereby attaching and fixing the air blower unit 101 to the vehicle seat 1. Alternatively, the cover member 112 may be provided with a latching portion 104 or a hooking portion 105, and the air blower unit 101 may be attached to the vehicle seat 1 by connecting the latching portion 104 or the hooking portion 105 to the upper part of the seat back 7.

[0150] The air blower unit 101 may be installed in the front seats, such as the driver's seat or passenger seat, located behind the dashboard (not shown). In this case, the air blower unit 101 can effectively deliver air from the air vents of the air conditioning unit installed in the dashboard (not shown) to the rear seats. Furthermore, by attaching the air blower unit 101 to the top of the seat back 7, it is possible to effectively deliver air to the upper bodies of rear seat occupants.

[0151] The seat body 3 may also be provided with a storage compartment 151 for housing the blower unit 101. Figures 17(A) and 17(B) show one example configuration in which the seat body 3 is provided with a storage compartment 151. Figure 17(A) shows the blower unit 101 in the storage position where it is housed in the storage compartment 151, and Figure 17(B) shows the blower unit 101 in the deployed position where it is used.

[0152] As shown in Figures 17(A) and 17(B), the storage compartment 151 is composed of recesses that are recessed inward from the left and right sides of the seat back 7 and open outward from the seat. The blower unit 101 is housed in the recesses that make up the storage compartment 151 such that the blower 107 is located on the opening side of the storage compartment 151.

[0153] In some cases, airbag modules 54 are provided on the left and right sides of the seatback 7. In such cases, the storage compartment 151 may be positioned above the airbag module 54, as shown in Figures 17(A) and 17(B).

[0154] As shown in Figure 17(A), when the blower unit 101 is in the storage position, the entire blower unit 101 is housed in a recess that constitutes the storage section 151, and it is preferable that the outer end face of the blower unit 101 on the seat is flush with the left and right outer surfaces of the seat back 7. As shown in Figures 17(A) and 17(B), the blower unit 101 is displaced from the storage position to the deployed position by being pulled out to the outside of the seat.

[0155] When the air blower unit 101 is in the deployed position, the holes 147 of the cap member 142 are located on the left and right outer sides of the seat back 7. In addition, on the rear surface of the seat back 7, when the air blower unit 101 is in the deployed position, there are air holes 152 that extend through to the inside of the storage section 151, overlapping with the opening 145 of the cover member 112. As a result, when the air blower unit 101 is driven, air is drawn in through the holes 147 and blown out towards the rear seats through the opening 145 and the air holes 152.

[0156] Furthermore, in order to facilitate the movement of the blower unit 101, a movable member (not shown) for displacing the blower unit 101 between the deployed position and the stored position may be provided inside the storage section 151. The movable member can be configured, for example, as a slider that slides the blower unit 101 in the seat width direction. In addition, in order to allow the blower unit 101 to be used even when it is in the stored position, the rear surface of the seat back 7 may be provided with a suction hole (not shown) that penetrates in the front-to-back direction in front of the hole 147 of the blower unit 101 in the stored position and reaches the inner hole of the storage section 151, and a discharge hole that penetrates in the front-to-back direction in rear of the opening 145 of the cover member 112 and reaches the inside of the storage section 151.

[0157] This concludes the description of specific embodiments, but the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments and can be broadly modified and implemented.
