Description

Water-in-oil type cosmetic composition for UV protection and method for manufacturing the same

[0001] This invention relates to an in-water type cosmetic composition for UV protection and a method for manufacturing the same.

[0002] While the importance of using waterproof formulations that do not easily wash off with sweat or water is increasing, existing products have several drawbacks. For example, sunscreens, a representative type of waterproof product, are generally water-in-oil type, which contain oil as an external component to enhance skin adhesion.

[0003] However, this has the drawback of causing an unpleasant and heavy sensation, such as feeling stuffy and sticky on the skin, and it is difficult to remove during cleansing, which can clog pores and cause skin trouble. Additionally, oil-in-water sunscreens have the issue that their waterproof effectiveness may be reduced.

[0004] Therefore, there is a need to develop a new cosmetic composition that provides a refreshing sensation to the skin while also offering excellent waterproof performance.

[0005] Accordingly, the inventors developed an in-water type cosmetic composition and confirmed that the composition has excellent sustained water resistance, thereby completing the present invention.

[0061] [Example]

[0062] Examples 1–11. Preparation of cosmetic compositions

[0063] According to the ingredients and content of Table 1 below, the aqueous phase solution was mixed and stirred at 5,000 rpm for about 5 to 10 minutes, and heated to 80°C. Similarly, according to the ingredients and content of Table 1 below, the oil phase solution was mixed and stirred, and heated to 80°C. After confirming that the oil phase solution was completely dissolved, the oil phase solution was slowly added to the heated aqueous phase solution while stirring at 3,000 rpm. After the addition was completed, the stirring speed was increased to 8,000 rpm and stirred for an additional 10 minutes to finally prepare an oil-in-water type cosmetic composition for UV protection (Examples 1 to 11).

[0064] [Table 1]

[0065]

[0066] In Table 1 above, the water-soluble UV blocking solution may comprise one or more selected from the group consisting of methylenebis-benzotriazolyltetramethylbutylphenol and tris-biphenyltriazine, and the organic UV blocking solution may comprise one or more selected from the group consisting of ethylhexyl triazone, diethylhexylbutamidotriazone, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenolmethoxyphenyltriazine, diethylaminohydroxybenzoylhexylbenzoate, drometrizole trisiloxane, octocrylene, ethylhexyl salicylate, homosalate, and butylmethoxydibenzoylmethane.

[0067] [Comparative Example]

[0068] Comparative Example 1. Preparation of a composition not comprising a combination of hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer and a polyglyceryl-based emulsifier

[0069] Comparative Example 1 was prepared in the same manner as Examples 1 to 11, except that the oil phase did not contain hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer and polyglyceryl-based emulsifier as in Examples 1 to 11, and the aqueous phase did not contain polyether-1, polyester-5, and cetylhydroxyethylcellulose. The specific components and their contents are as shown in Table 2 below.

[0070] [Table 2]

[0071]

[0072] [Experimental Example]

[0073] Experimental Example 1. Evaluation of Sustained Water Resistance

[0074] To evaluate the sustained water resistance of Examples 1 to 11, SPF values were measured before and after the water resistance evaluation, and high-resolution images were taken as follows.

[0075] 1-1. Evaluation through SPF value measurement

[0076] To evaluate the sustained water resistance of Examples 1 to 11 and Comparative Examples, experiments were conducted as follows.

[0077] Specifically, the UV transmittance SPF value was measured by applying a sample to a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA HELIO PLATE HD6) plate and using a UV-2000S (Labsphere, Inc. USA), referring to the test specifications described in the COLIPA (European Cosmetics Association) "method for the in-vitro determination of UVA protection provided by sunscreen products." The sample application amount was 1.3 mg / cm² as specified in COLIPA. 2 Refer to [the reference] and apply an amount of 1.3 mg × 22 cm to the polymethyl methacrylate plate 2 = 28.6 mg, dried in a dark room for about 15 minutes, and then measured.

[0078] The transmittance was measured in the wavelength range of 290 nm to 400 nm using UV-200S, and the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) value was calculated using LABSPHERE. A higher SPF index (ultraviolet protection index) indicates that UV is blocked more effectively, and the SPF index was calculated according to the following Equation 1.

[0079] [Mathematical Formula 1]

[0080]

[0081] In addition, for the evaluation of water resistance, the sample was applied to an HD-6 plate for UV blocking transmittance, left for 20 minutes, and attached to the bottom of a 2L beaker. Afterward, 1000ml of 40℃ tap water was added, stirred using an Aji mixer at a rotation speed of 250rpm for 40 minutes, and dried for 30 minutes to measure the SPF value by comparing it before and after the continuous water resistance test.

[0082] As a result, as shown in Table 3 below, unlike Comparative Example 1, which does not contain hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer and polyglyceryl-based emulsifier in the oil phase and does not contain polyether-1, polyester-5, and cetylhydroxyethylcellulose in the aqueous phase, Examples 1 to 11, which contain at least one of the above five types, were found to maintain a high SPF value even after the sustained water resistance test, and in particular, Examples 1 to 3, which contain all of the above five types, were confirmed to show the highest SPF value after the sustained water resistance test.

[0083] This means that although water-in-oil type cosmetic compositions generally have poor water resistance, if at least one of the five types is included, sufficiently excellent water resistance can be maintained even in water-in-oil type formulations.

[0084] [Table 3]

[0085]

[0086] 1-2. Evaluation through high-resolution image capture

[0087] To evaluate the sustained water resistance of the examples, high-resolution image capture experiments were conducted on the compositions of Examples 2 and 8 as follows.

[0088] The subject's test site (inner forearm) was washed with IVORY soap and kept in a constant temperature and humidity room (22±2℃, 40–60% RH) for approximately 10 minutes, after which the test site was photographed using VISIA-CR (Canfield scientific, Inc, USA). Specifically, high-resolution images were captured before application, immediately after application, after washing under running water for 30 seconds, and after washing under running water for 30 seconds and rolling 50 times, thereby recording the results of the continuous water resistance test. A darker color in the photographed area indicates superior UV protection.

[0089] As a result, as shown in Figure 1, it was confirmed that the sustained water resistance was excellent in the case of Examples 2 and 8, as there was no significant reduction in UV blocking during 30 seconds of washing with running water, and in particular, it was confirmed that the sustained water resistance was significantly excellent in Example 2.

[0090] Experimental Example 2. Evaluation of Usability and Moisture Sense

[0091] To evaluate the feel of use and moisture of the examples and comparative examples, a sensory evaluation was conducted as follows.

[0092] Specifically, the evaluation of usability and moisture was performed by evaluating the degree of usability and moisture of the cosmetic composition through a skin panel test. Each sample was dispensed onto the skin and rolled, and the usability and moisture at the point where the phase changed were tested by 10 panel testers on a scale of 1 to 5 points. The average value of the scores evaluated by the 10 panel testers was calculated to determine the usability and moisture scores.

[0093] The evaluation scale was marked as 5 points - very good, 4 points - good, 3 points - average, 2 points - bad, and 1 point - very bad.

[0094] As a result, as shown in Table 4 below, unlike Comparative Example 1, which had poor water resistance, usability, and moisture content, Examples 1 to 11 were confirmed to have excellent water resistance, as well as excellent usability and moisture content. In particular, it can be seen that Examples 1 to 3 have significantly excellent usability and moisture content.

[0095] [Table 4]

[0096]

[0097] In summary, it was confirmed that the composition according to one aspect possesses a moist sensation, a refreshing feel, and excellent water resistance, while simultaneously having an excellent UV blocking effect, and thus can be used as an in-water type waterproof cosmetic composition for UV protection.
