Abstract

The invention relates to psychology and psychotherapy and can be used for correcting a person's psychoemotional state. A preliminary assessment of a client's psychoemotional state is made to determine their stress level. A specialist invites the client to talk about a problem which is worrying the client and which they would like to work through. A symptom experienced by the client is "captured" on a sheet of paper. The client's "self" is then "captured" on a different sheet. The sheets are laid out in the space in which the session is being conducted. A process of harmonizing the specialist's emotional state is performed. Next, the client's tendencies are "extracted" and symbolically reprogrammed in that the specialist articulates new scenarios of interaction between personalities or figures involving positive emotions and constructive relationships. Each tendency is "captured" on a sheet and laid out in the session space. The session concludes with a process of acceptance of an outcome. The method makes it possible to effectively and quickly correct a person's psychoemotional state, reduce their level of negative emotional distress and autonomic arousal, and increase the strength of the client's positive emotions, leading to an appropriate change in their behaviour.

Description

[0001] A method for correcting a person's psycho-emotional state. The invention relates to psychology and psychotherapy and can be used to correct a person's psycho-emotional state in order to improve their social, professional and personal life, as well as for the psychological rehabilitation of individuals who have experienced military action in a military conflict zone and adjacent territories. It is also applicable to reducing stress levels and combating burnout in workers in security professions.

[0002] This method was developed as part of the GSR (Deep System of Development) methodology by its author, Dmitry Yuryevich Ustinov, based on 25 years of experience in various self-development practices and methods. It is a universal system of transformational tools that any modern person can use to solve their problems, achieve their goals, develop themselves, and change and improve their lives.

[0003] Currently, there are many known methods for correcting a person's psycho-emotional state, based on an oral survey of the patient and subsequent discussion and elaboration of his problems with a specialist.

[0004] For example, a method for correcting psychological states is known (RU 2285545, published April 10, 2006), which is implemented as follows. A therapist (a psychologist or psychotherapist) listens to the patient as they discuss their pressing issues. During the conversation, the patient openly demonstrates their conscious life goals, such as finding a spouse abroad and moving abroad, radically improving their appearance, losing weight, improving their skin, improving their sleep, overcoming fears, taking revenge on enemies, achieving wealth, etc. The patient typically demonstrates quite a few such goals; the therapist, in conversation with the patient, establishes a hierarchy of these conscious and openly demonstrated life goals and identifies from this hierarchy the 1-5 most significant, dominant life goals. In this case, the patient, as a rule, always states that attempts to achieve these goals were unsuccessful, resulting in the negative psychological state and associated health problems that prompted the patient to seek help. Then, tactfully, very carefully, and deliberately, during the subsequent conversation with the patient, the operator reveals the patient's hidden, subconscious life goals that were not openly demonstrated but are closely related to the openly demonstrated goals. The patient did not mention these hidden goals when answering the operator's questions at the beginning of the conversation; these hidden goals existed only in the patient's subconscious, and only during the conversation with the operator did the patient become aware of these goals and their connection to the openly demonstrated goals. If there are several of these hidden goals, the operator and the patient jointly determine the most fundamental, significant, and dominant hidden goal.It is precisely on achieving this goal that the patient is asked to focus.

[0005] The disadvantage of methods similar to the one described above can be considered the possibility of the emergence of unconscious subjectivity of the specialist in the process of decision-making on the patient's problem, as well as the identification of only one dominant motive per session, with which they then work, as well as poor consolidation of the material worked through by the patient, which leads to the need for multiple sessions depending on the number of motives of the patient and his ability to remember.

[0006] Currently, there are also many different techniques and methods for correcting a person’s psycho-emotional state using various technical devices or auxiliary physical objects.

[0007] A known method for harmonizing a person's psychoemotional state (RU 2373965, published November 27, 2009) involves recording the galvanic skin response (GSR) in a continuous, real-time session while interviewing the client using informational testing templates that reflect post-traumatic events in their life. A sharp drop in the amplitude-frequency parameters of the phasic component of the GSR, against the background of the recorded absolute values of the tonic component, is used to diagnose the dominant post-traumatic factor influencing the client's psychoemotional maladjustment in their life. The identified dominant post-traumatic factor is then corrected using passive interviewing templates that identify images, sounds, sensations, emotions, and thoughts in the client in response to the identified dominant factor, or using templates that identify the client's physiological characteristics in response to the identified factor.Based on the appearance of smooth amplitude-frequency indicators of the phasic component of the GSR against the background of a decreasing value of the absolute value of the tonic component, the client's psycho-emotional adaptation to the identified dominant post-traumatic factor is determined.

[0008] Methods such as this require the use of complex technical equipment, which can be quite expensive and requires the specialist to have knowledge and experience with such equipment. Furthermore, its use can cause discomfort for the patient. Another disadvantage of this method is that it identifies and addresses only one dominant post-traumatic factor, which significantly increases treatment time.

[0009] A method for integrative psychological correction of a patient's psychoemotional state is known (RU 2812845, published 02.02.2024), accepted as the closest analogue. This known method involves a medical professional conducting an informal conversation at the beginning of the first session, during which they become acquainted with the patient, their life history and current manifestations of their psychoemotional state, the patient's attitude towards their condition, and their plans and hopes for the future. They explain the rules and conditions for psychological correction to the patient. Then, taking into account their age and the specific characteristics of their psychoemotional state, the patient is presented with a set of similar, semantically relevant and genre-specific illustrative cards for review, selection, and paired comparison, along with explanations of the similarities / differences between each identified feature and the expected sequence of events. The patient's statements are then recorded in writing. The healthcare professional identifies the patient's personality traits through morphological and qualitative analysis of recorded statements and then formulates recommendations for the patient to address the problem independently. The healthcare professional asks the patient to name each picture card. The healthcare professional then asks the patient to complete homework assignments to transform and / or use the selected picture cards. When discussing the homework assignments at the follow-up appointment, the actions performed and accompanying thoughts are noted, identifying those that lead to neutralization and / or improvement of the patient's psychoemotional state. Recommendations are then formulated for the patient to address the problem independently.

[0010] The disadvantages of the above-described method are the need to use special didactic materials for various age categories and levels of complexity, which requires extensive preliminary preparation from the specialist, as well as the significant duration of treatment, which includes several sessions.

[0011] The technical result of the proposed method is the creation of an effective, relatively inexpensive and fast method for correcting the psycho-emotional state of a person, in which, due to a differentiated approach and in-depth analysis of the client's statements, it is possible to reduce the level of his negative emotional experience and autonomous excitation of the nervous system, while increasing the intensity of the client's positive emotions, leading to an adequate change in his behavior.

[0012] The said technical result is achieved due to the fact that when using the method of correcting the psycho-emotional state of a person, which includes a specialist conducting a preliminary assessment of the psycho-emotional state of the client to determine the level of stress, holding a session that begins with the specialist asking the client to talk about the emotional situation that is bothering the client and which the client would like to work through, according to the invention, at the moment of the maximum manifestation of the client's emotion, his symptom is "removed" onto a piece of paper, for which the specialist shows the client a blank sheet of paper, which he then signs as a symptom with its short name, thus fixing the emotion on the sheet of paper and associating it in the client's consciousness with this sheet of paper, after which the "I" of the client is "removed" onto another sheet of paper, for which the specialist asks the client to move his body, to feel his arms, legs, shoulders, head, the whole body as a whole, and then shows the client a blank sheet of paper, who signs with the letter "I", symbolically transferring the client's "I" to this sheet, they lay out the sheets in the field of the session, then they perform harmonization of the emotional state of the specialist, which consists of performing exercises that allow you to achieve a state of bodily awareness, in which your own feelings, emotions and problems do not interfere with the specialist to most effectively engage in a session for his client, then they "bring out" the client's tendencies, for which the specialist steps with his foot on the sheet with the symptom and, looking at the client, voices scenarios of interaction between personalities or figures from the client's consciousness, describes their interaction with the client's "I" and the emotions of the client that arise in connection with this, after which they perform a symbolic switch of tendencies, in which the specialist voices to the client new scenarios of interaction between personalities or figures containing positive emotions and constructive relationships, each tendency is "removed" on a sheet,By associating the scenario with this sheet in the client's mind, and placing it in the session field, the specialist "brings out" and switches the tendencies until they end. At the end of the session, the acceptance of the result is performed, during which the specialist asks the client to stand in the session field on the sheet with the letter "I" and examine all the "brought out" tendencies, as well as the symptom sheet, and to recognize and accept the changes in his emotional state, discussing with the specialist the accepted changes and the result of the session, while the specialist asks the client about his feelings and helps him to recognize them.

[0013] Additionally, an audio recording of the session is carried out; for this purpose, the specialist turns on the audio recording before the start of the session, which is then sent to the client.

[0014] During the session, the specialist uses the GSR method in working with the client.

[0015] In addition, this method can be used by a specialist for psycho-emotional correction of one’s own state.

[0016] The following terms are used in this description and formula:

[0017] "Symptom" is a feeling associated with a particular event, person, memory, and the like.

[0018] “I” is the client’s sensation of his body, symbolically “removed” onto a piece of paper associated with it.

[0019] "Tendency" is a scenario of interaction between figures (subpersonalities) from the client's consciousness; a tendency is an element of a symptom, thus a symptom consists of Tendencies.

[0020] “Removing” a symptom, tendency, or “I” means that the specialist associates the client’s emotion, problem, symptom, tendency, or “I” with a piece of paper, which he then signs with the name of the object, that is, a symbolic transfer of the object to the piece of paper is carried out.

[0021] “To deduce” means that the specialist mentally thinks through and works through a tendency or symptom, pronounces it out loud, explaining it to the client, and voices scenarios of interaction between personalities or figures of the client’s subconscious.

[0022] “State Zero” is a state of neutral, adequate attitude towards a particular problem or person, which is the goal and result of the session.

[0023] "Harmonization" is an exercise that allows one to achieve a state of bodily awareness, accompanied by deep, slow, conscious breathing. It is performed as follows: one sits comfortably, relaxes one's muscles, clears one's thoughts, and begins to imagine and sense each part of one's body (feet, shins, thighs, knees, pelvis, abdomen, chest, arms, shoulders, neck—from the bottom up). Then, one's entire body, breathing evenly and deeply until one achieves a harmonious, balanced, and adequate state.

[0024] "Session Field" - any suitable flat surface, most often the floor area of the room where the session is held, and where the Symptom, Self and Tendency sheets are laid out, usually 1 m is enough for a session 2 .

[0025] A "Specialist" is an individual who has been trained in the GSR method by the author, D. Yu. Ustinov, or his authorized representatives, and who conducts a GSR session for a client. A specialist is typically an individual with a background in psychology.

[0026] To stand up, to step on means to cover with your foot, while the sheets of paper lie on the floor.

[0027] To clearly demonstrate the session field, images are provided, in which:

[0028] Fig. 1 - photo of sheets of paper with the "removed" symptom and the client's "I"; Fig. 2 - photo of sheets of paper in the session field with the tendencies "deduced" by the specialist, worked through together with the client.

[0029] The session, according to the stated method, proceeds as follows.

[0030] An important condition for conducting a session is the execution of the sequence of actions without omissions or violations. The therapist must verbally communicate to the client all their actions, as well as the client's feelings before and after switching the Trend. Before the session begins, ensure that the client is seated comfortably in front of the therapist and the session area, and that the client can see the session area and the therapist.

[0031] 1. The specialist conducts a preliminary assessment of the client's psycho-emotional state to determine their stress level, which is accomplished through a conversation. Before the session begins, the specialist plays an audio recording so the client can listen to it later and review specific moments.

[0032] 2. During the session, the therapist invites the client to discuss an emotional situation that is troubling them and that they would like to work through. At the moment of peak emotional expression, the therapist shows the client a blank sheet of paper and then labels it with the name of the problem, thereby associating the problem and emotion in the client's mind with the sheet. In this way, the symptom is "transferred" to the sheet. The label on the sheet might look something like this: "C - conflict with wife over work." The therapist places the sheet of paper with the symptom in the session area. The session area is most often the floor of the room where the session is held, as it is the most accessible, flat, and easily visible surface in most spaces.

[0033] 3. Then the client's "I" is "transferred" to another piece of paper. This is done as follows. The therapist asks the client to move their body slightly, to feel their arms, legs, shoulders, head, and their entire body. Then, the therapist shows the client a blank sheet of paper, associating their "I" with this piece of paper in the client's mind. The therapist signs the sheet with the letter "I," and places it in the session area near the "Symptom."

[0034] 4. The therapist conducts self-harmonization so that their own feelings, emotions, and problems do not interfere with the most effective session for their client. Harmonization is performed as follows: the client sits comfortably, relaxes their muscles, clears their thoughts, and begins to imagine and sense their body parts one by one (feet, shins, thighs, knees, pelvis, abdomen, chest, arms, shoulders, neck—from the bottom up). Then, their entire body, breathing evenly and deeply until they achieve a harmonious, balanced, and adequate state.

[0035] 5. Next, the therapist begins to "derive" the client's tendencies, which are scenarios of interaction between figures (subpersonalities) from the client's consciousness. To do this, the therapist steps on the symptom sheet with their foot. Looking at the client, the therapist names human figures (children, men, women, living and dead) and describes the figures and their interaction with the client's "I" (resentment, sadness, despair, alienation, rejection, conflict, lack of choice, etc.). The therapist's focus on a specific symptom signifies to the client that this is the symptom being worked on.

[0036] 6. Then, a symbolic switching of tendencies is performed, during which the specialist presents to the client new scenarios of interactions between individuals or figures containing positive emotions and constructive relationships. The specialist describes their interactions with the "I" after the switch, specifically acceptance, adequacy, constructiveness, the ability to choose further actions, the ability to control one's behavior, joy, support, respect, love, etc. The specialist "records" each tendency on a piece of paper (associates it with this paper in the client's mind) and places it in the session area. The specialist identifies the tendencies, "records" them on the paper, voices them, and symbolically switches them until the tendencies cease. This means the Client's Symptom has been fully addressed.

[0037] 7. The end of a session is considered to be the client’s acceptance of the result, which is accomplished as follows:

[0038] 1) The therapist invites the client to accept the result. To do this, the client stands on the "I" sheet and looks at all the "identified" trends in the session field and the symptom sheet. The client, standing over all the processed sheets, examines them, analyzes their new emotional state, and accepts its changes.

[0039] 2) The specialist asks the client about their current feelings and thoughts, helps them refine their current state, thereby helping the client transition to a new space of relationships that allows them to realize their core personal and value-based goals, based on a holistic self-image.

[0040] 8. The specialist turns off the audio recording of the session and hands over the recording media or sends the recording electronically to the client.

[0041] The use of the harmonization technique allows the specialist to use this method for psycho-emotional correction of his own state.

[0042] The proposed method provides the possibility of reducing the level of negative emotional experience and autonomic excitation of the nervous system, increasing the intensity of positive emotions of the patient and adequately changing his behavior.

[0043] The implementation of the claimed method is illustrated by the examples below.

[0044] Client Example #1:

[0045] Before and after the session, the client was assessed using the Spielberger-Khanin State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The client, Anna, 29, lives in Donetsk, Donetsk People's Republic. Twenty years ago, Anna's mother died of cancer. Throughout her life, Anna had carried the emotional burden of not having done enough to save her mother and of being without her. Anna now has her own child, and she struggles with him, worrying about both her relationship with the child and her late mother. Remembering her mother, Anna cries.

[0046] Client's assessment on the Spielberger-Khanin stress scale before the session: 58 points out of 80 - high situational anxiety, 63 points out of 80 - high personal anxiety.

[0047] After the session, Anna remembers her mother brightly, does not cry, realizes that she could not help her mother in any way, feels that she now treats her own child better, feels calmer and more confident, and wants to spend more time with the child.

[0048] The client's assessment on the Spielberger-Khanin stress scale after the session: 40 points out of 80 - average situational anxiety, 42 points out of 80 - average personal anxiety.

[0049] Client Example #2:

[0050] Before and after the session, the client was assessed using the Spielberger-Khanin State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Sergey P., 45, Moscow. For over 15 years, Sergey held a management position in a private company, building and organizing the entire department from the ground up, and the team under his leadership demonstrated high results. After a change in senior management, he was laid off. After his dismissal, Sergey was depressed, confused, and lacking energy. He didn't know where to go or what to do. He stopped looking for work and began abusing alcohol.

[0051] The client's score on the Spielberger-Khanin stress scale before the session was: 71 points out of 80 - high situational anxiety, 49 points out of 80 - high personal anxiety.

[0052] After one session, Sergei found himself in a calm, businesslike, and active state. That same day, he compiled and posted his resume online. Two days later, he received several responses from potential employers. A week later, he received a job offer and joined a new company in a similar position, which was higher-paying than his previous one.

[0053] The client's assessment on the Spielberger-Khanin stress scale after the session: 41 points out of 80 - average situational anxiety, 40 points out of 80 - average personal anxiety.

[0054] Client Example #3:

[0055] Before the session, the client's score on the Spielberger-Khanin stress scale was: 50 points out of 80 - high situational anxiety, 42 points out of 80 - average personal anxiety.

[0056] Svetlana S., 48, from Voronezh. Svetlana had smoked cigarettes for many years. She came to the session with a request to quit.

[0057] During the session, Svetlana felt and realized that she had smoked all these years solely to suppress her vibrant individuality and fit in with everyone else, blending in with her work team and hometown. After the session, Svetlana embraced her individuality, the need to smoke disappeared, and she kicked the habit. She began painting seriously and selling her paintings online. Before the session, Svetlana had been embarrassed by this passion.

[0058] The client's assessment on the Spielberger-Khanin stress scale after the session: 38 points out of 80 - average situational anxiety, 40 points out of 80 - average personal anxiety.

[0059] Client Example #4:

[0060] Olesya E., 39 years old, Moscow.

[0061] Olesya has a negative opinion of her husband, saying she's very tired of their relationship. He doesn't do anything around the house, often stays late at work, as he puts it, and gives her cause for jealousy. Olesya has been with her husband for about 20 years, "I haven't seen anything there, and I'm just too lazy to get a divorce," she says.

[0062] Client's assessment on the Spielberger-Khanin stress scale before the session: 60 points out of 80 - high situational anxiety, 52 points out of 80 - high personal anxiety.

[0063] After the session, Olesya rediscovered the value of her relationship with her husband and decided to "reboot" it. She wanted to do new things with him, cook for him, go to the movies, and go on dates. A few weeks later, Olesya went on another "honeymoon" with her husband. The client's post-session score on the Spielberger-Khanin Stress Scale was: 38 points out of 80—moderate state anxiety; 45 points out of 80—moderate personal anxiety.

[0064] The advantages of the stated correction method include: - the client’s request to solve the problem and improve his internal state in one session (several hours), which does not require repeat sessions;

[0065] - no other session participants, technical equipment or auxiliary special materials are required;

[0066] - the client can return to the audio recording of the session in the future if necessary.

[0067] The invention will be used, among other things, for:

[0068] 1. Psychological rehabilitation of persons who have experienced military action in combat zones and adjacent territories.

[0069] 2. To reduce stress levels and combat burnout in workers in security professions.
