Description

BEVERAGE CONTAINER WITH SELECTIVE DRINKING MODES FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] Aspects provided herein relate to portable drinkware, such as insulated travel mugs, tumblers, shaker cups, and the like.BACKGROUND OF TIIE INVENTION

[0002] Portable drinkware may include a variety of containers suitable for on-the-go consumption. Such drinkware may include insulated cups, non-insulated cups, double wall cups, or any other suitable beverage container that includes a fitted lid to prevent accidental spills. Many conventional lids for drinkware provide either a straw-based drinking system (i.e., for sipping) or a direct-drink spout (i.e., for chugging), but often lack flexibility in switching between the two modes. As a result, users seeking both drinking options may be required to use separate containers or interchangeable lids, which can be inconvenient and impractical for on-the-go use. Furthermore, existing dual-mode solutions may compromise seal integrity or leak resistance when attempting to accommodate multiple drinking configurations within a single lid structure. Additionally, conventional venting systems may not adequately regulate airflow across both straw-based and direct-drink configurations, potentially leading to inconsistent liquid flow, vacuum buildup, or spillage during use.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003] Aspects disclosed herein address the technical problem of providing a single lid structure that enables both straw-based and direct-drink configurations while maintaining seal integrity and proper airflow regulation. This technical problem is solved by a lid structure comprising a connection port and a secondary port arrangement that enables dual drinking configurations, combined with a vent structure and vent seal system that regulates airflow regardless of the selected drinking mode. The connection port is configured to retain a removable straw in a fixed position, while the secondary port is positioned within the connection port and configured to direct fluid through the spout when the removable straw is removed. The vent structure and vent seal cooperate to prevent leaks when the lid cover is closed and to permit controlled airflow when the lid cover is open, thereby ensuring consistent liquid flow across both drinking configurations.4937-0183-2864 vl

[0004] Al a high level, a beverage container may include a lid structure coupled to a base structure. The base structure may define an interior volume (e.g., liquid reservoir) for holding and / or dispensing a beverage held within the beverage container. The base stmcture may be a cup shaped container that may optionally be insulating to keep drinks cold / hot for extended periods of time (e.g., between 4 hours and 48 hours). The lid structure may have a spout portion and a removable straw mechanism, allowing the beverage to be dispensed in multiple drinking configurations when the lid structure is secured to the base structure.

[0005] The lid structure in accordance with aspects herein comprises versatile drinking options through a single spout with two configurations. In a first configuration, a removable straw is secured to the lid structure, forming a fluid pathway through which liquid is drawn from the beverage container via the removable straw (i.e., sipped). In a second configuration, the removable straw is removed from the lid stmcture, allowing liquid to be dispensed directly from the beverage container through the spout opening (i.e., chugged).

[0006] The lid stmcture may include a cover that encloses and seals the spout when not in use. The cover is pivotally attached to the lid stmcture, allowing it to transition between an open position where the spout is exposed for drinking, and a closed position where the spout is covered and sealed to prevent leaks.

[0007] The lid stmcture may also include a venting system to regulate airflow and ensure smooth liquid dispensing. The venting system comprises a vent stmcture on the lid, configured to allow air into the liquid reservoir to prevent vacuum formation. The venting system also comprises a vent seal positioned on the cover of the lid, the vent seal being sized and shaped to fit within the vent stmcture. When the cover is in a closed position, it is contemplated that the vent seal engages the vent stmcture, blocking airflow and preventing leaks. When the cover is in an open position, the vent stmcture remains unobstmeted, allowing air to enter and ensuring consistent liquid flow.

[0008] The base stmcture may include a multi-wall (e.g., double-wall) and vacuum-sealed insulated container, constructed from stainless steel, aluminum, copper, or any other material or combination of materials suitable for insulating the contents of the beverage container from external temperature fluctuations, preferably for extended periods of time. Alternatively, the base stmcture may include a single or double-wall plastic or polymer-based stmcture suitable for lesser-insulated applications.

[0009] The base stmcture in accordance with aspects herein includes an outer wall and an inner wall. The inner wall of the base stmcture can include a threaded portion proximal to the4937-0183-2864 vlopening edge of the base structure for secure attachment to the lid structure. A step edge can be provided in the inner wall of the base structure, which defines the end of the threaded portion and the start of a non-threaded portion of the inner wall. The non-threaded portion of the inner wall can extend inward toward a relative center of the container further than the internal threaded section of the base structure. The inner wall can optionally include volume markings to signal a volume quantity contained within the base structure as the base structure is fdled with a beverage. The volume of the base structure may be sized and shaped to hold between 14 oz. and 100 oz. of a beverage, by way of non-limiting example.

[0010] The outer wall of the beverage container can comprise a friction sleeve covering a portion of the outer wall of the base structure to enhance grip, insulation, and / or shock resistance. The friction sleeve can be constructed from rubberized silicone thermoplastic polyurethane rubber (TPU), polyurethane, or any other suitable materials. It is contemplated that the friction sleeve can increase the insulative properties of the beverage container by reducing external heat transfer. Additionally, the friction sleeve can provide impact protection, mitigating damage from drops, impacts, or abrasions. The thickness of the friction sleeve may be designated as “x,” with the outer wall of the base structure having an offset portion of distance “x” so that the covered and uncovered portions of the outer wall remain flush when the friction sleeve is installed on the beverage container.

[0011] This summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified form that are further described below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used as an aid in determining the scope of the claimed subject matter.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAE VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

[0036] The subject matter of embodiments of the present invention is described with specificity herein to meet statutory requirements. However, the description itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent. Rather, the inventor(s) have contemplated that the claimed subject matter might also be embodied in other ways, to include different features or combinations of features similar to the ones described in this document, in conjunction with other present or future technologies. Further, it should be appreciated that the figures do not necessarily represent an all-inclusive representation of the embodiments herein and may have various components hidden to aid in the written description thereof.

[0037] At a high level, a beverage system 100 as shown in FIG. 1 is disclosed. The beverage system 100 comprises a lid structure 102 and a base structure (hereinafter container 104) as the main components, wherein the lid structure 102 is configured to attach to the container 104. The lid structure 102 may be formed from a durable polymer material, such as polypropylene, polycarbonate, ABS, HD PE, and / or silicone. In a preferred embodiment, the durable polymer material includes a copolyester, such as Tritan™. The container 104 defines4937-0183-2864 vla liquid reservoir 1004 (depicted in FIG. 10B). In aspects, the container 104 can be dual-wall vacuum-insulated. The beverage system 100 may optionally further include a handle 106 to facilitate carrying of the beverage system 100. As further shown in FIG. 1, the lid stmcture 102 may have a pivoting lid cover 109. In a preferred embodiment, the pivoting lid cover 109 can be operably connected to the lid structure 102 via a hinge mechanism that allows the lid cover 109 to rotate between a closed position — covering and protecting the spout 126 — and an open position — where the spout 126 is exposed for use.

[0038] In aspects, the lid structure 102 may include an actuator 110 that is configured to facilitate opening the pivoting lid cover 109, thereby exposing a spout 126 that allows the user to access or otherwise drink fluids stored within the beverage system 100. In various embodiments, the actuator 110 may be pivotally, movably, or rotatably connected to the lid stmcture 102. In a preferred embodiment, the actuator includes a spring-activated lever. The actuator 110 may include engaging portions, such as outwardly extending portions, protrusions, projections, or other features that allow it to be manipulated with minimal force. In certain configurations, the actuator 110 may be positioned within a recessed cavity to prevent accidental activation. The actuator 110 may be engaged within a recess formed by the lid stmcture 102, where a first sidewall and a second sidewall of the recess include corresponding grooves or channels to receive pivot points of the actuator 110, enabling smooth and controlled movement when opening or closing the pivoting lid cover 109.

[0039] As shown in FIG. 1, the container 104 comprises a first end 112 that defines a base, a second end 114 having a rim that defines an opening, and a sidewall 116 that extends between the first end 112 and the second end 114. The beverage system 100 may further include a friction sleeve 118 configured to cover a portion of an outer wall 120 of the container 104 to aid in keeping the beverage system 100 from sliding across a flat surface such as a counter, a table, and the like. One example of such a friction sleeve 118 can be found in U.S. Patent Application No. 18 / 793,520, filed on 08 / 02 / 2024, titled “Beverage Container with Removable Sleeve or Boot,” which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. This incorporated disclosure provides additional details regarding the friction sleeve 118, including its material composition, stmctural configuration, and functional advantages.

[0040] In particular, the friction sleeve 118 may provide an improved grippable surface of the container 104 that is non-slip to a user. The friction sleeve may have a thickness “x” and is configured to cover a portion of the outer wall 120 of the container 104. The outer wall 120 of the container 104 may include an offset region so that when the friction sleeve 118 is4937-0183-2864 vlinstalled, its outer surface aligns flush with the adjacent uncovered portion of the outer wall 120. In some embodiments, the container 104 may further include an annular ledge or retention feature formed along the outer wall 120 to engage with and retain the friction sleeve 118 in position once installed. This ledge helps prevent the sleeve from shifting or sliding during use, improving stability and user experience. The friction sleeve 118 may also serve to increase insulative properties of the container 104 based on the type of material forming the friction sleeve 118. For example, the friction sleeve may be formed of a rubberized silicone, thermoplastic polyurethane rubber, polyurethane, or any other suitable material. Further, the friction sleeve 118, in addition to providing an improved grippable surface, may also provide shock protection for the container 104, so that damage to the container 104 is mitigated or minimized in the event of a fall, strike, or drop of the container 104. As shown in FIG. 2, the rotatable pivoting lid cover 109 is in the open position. The pivoting lid cover 109 comprises an opening to allow for storage of a spout 126 and to allow the spout 126 to permanently extend outward from a lid top side 122 for use by a user.

[0041] As further shown in FIGs. 3A-3B, the lid structure 102 comprises a vent structure 306 positioned adjacent to the spout 126. The vent structure 306 defines an opening of a first size, which facilitates airflow into or out of the liquid reservoir 1004 (see FIG. 10B) to regulate liquid flow and prevent vacuum and / or pressure buildup inside of the container 104. In aspects, the vent structure 306 is configured to equalize the pressure differential between the interior and exterior of the container 104, which ensures a smoother and more consistent flow of liquid from the spout 126 during use.

[0042] The pivoting lid cover 109 further comprises a flexible vent seal 308 that is configured to engage and seal the hole of the vent structure 306 when the pivoting lid cover 109 is in a closed position. As shown in FIG. 3A, the vent seal 308 can compressively fit within the opening of the vent structure 306, forming a sealed engagement with the vent structure 306, thereby preventing leaks and maintaining the liquid reservoir 1004 in a closed, pressure-stable state. When the pivoting lid cover 109 is in an open position, as shown in FIG. 3B, the vent seal 308 disengages from the opening of the vent structure 306, permitting airflow into or out of the container 104. This controlled airflow regulation allows the beverage system 100 to maintain consistent liquid flow as the user drinks from the spout 126.

[0043] In aspects, the vent seal 308 functions as a plug that actively engages and seals the vent structure 306 when the pivoting lid cover 109 is closed. In various aspects, vent structure 306 defines an opening of a first size, while the vent seal 308 defines a plug of a second size4937-0183-2864 vlthat is greater than the first size, allowing the vent seal 308 to compressively fit within the opening of the vent structure 306 to create a secure, leak- resistant seal. The size differential between the vent structure 306 and the vent seal 308 ensures that when the vent seal 308 is engaged, it fully obstructs the opening of the vent structure 306. While FIGs. 3A-3B depict the vent seal 308 as being positioned adjacent to the spout, it is contemplated that the vent structure 306 can be positioned anywhere on the pivoting lid cover 109 so long as the vent seal 308 coupled to the pivoting lid cover 109 aligns with and effectively plugs the vent structure 306 when the pivoting lid cover 109 is closed.

[0044] In aspects, the vent seal 308 may be formed from flexible materials such as silicone, rubber, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), or similar compressible materials. The vent seal 308 is capable of deforming in response to pressure changes inside the liquid reservoir 1004, allowing air to enter or exit the liquid reservoir 1004 as relative pressure in the container changes from a first pressure to a second pressure. The deformation of the vent seal 308 ensures that the vent structure 306 effectively regulates fluid dispensing, mitigating the risk of suction lock or air gaps forming in the fluid passageway 310.

[0045] In aspects, the beverage system 100 may include a removable straw 302 that interfaces with and is in fluid communication with a fluid passageway 310. The fluid passageway 310 extends from the liquid reservoir 1004 through the lid structure 102, enabling controlled liquid flow based on the presence or absence of the removable straw 302.

[0046] Moving on to FIG. 4, an exploded upper perspective view of the container 104 and lid structure 102 is depicted. The lid structure 102 comprises a lid top side 122 and a bottom side 304. The spout 126 extends through the lid structure 102 from the bottom side 304 to the lid top side 122. The bottom side 304 of the lid structure 102 comprises a connection port 802 (shown in FIG. 8) that is configured to retain the removable straw 302 in a fixed position when locked or otherwise secured into place. It is contemplated that the fluid passageway 310 is structured to allow liquid to flow from the liquid reservoir 1004 through the spout 126, providing an adaptable drinking experience whether the removable straw 302 is inserted or removed.

[0047] The lid structure 102 is removably connected to the container 104. The lid structure 102 may be removably connected to the container 104 by threading, snapping, twisting, sliding, or screwing the lid structure 102 to the container 104. For example, as illustrated in FIG. 4, an upper, inner portion of the container 104 may include one or more threads 402 and an outer portion of the lid structure 102 may include one or more corresponding threads 404, or vice4937-0183-2864 vlversa. The mating threads 402, 404 may allow the lid structure 102 to be selectively attached to the container 104. In addition, the threaded connection of the lid structure 102 to the container 104 may create a secure, airtight, watertight and / or leak-proof seal. A gasket 406 may be disposed between the lid structure 102 and the container 104, if desired, and the gasket 406 may help create the seal between the lid structure 102 and the container 104. The threaded connection may require multiple turns of the lid structure 102 relative to the container 104 to securely connect the lid to the container, but it will be appreciated that the lid structure 102 may be connected to the container 104 by one or fewer turns. The lid structure 102 may also be connected to the container 104 using other suitable types of connections and structures depending, for example, upon the intended use of the beverage system 100. For example, although FIG. 4 illustrates a threaded engagement between the lid structure 102 and container 104, alternative engagement structures may be used. The lid structure 102 may be attached to the container 104 using a snap-fit connection, a sliding latch mechanism, or a bayonet-style locking system.

[0048] As shown in FIGs. 5-7, the lid structure 102 comprises a front side 502 and a back side 504. The front side 502 is the portion of the lid structure 102 nearest to the spout 126, where liquid exits the liquid reservoir 1004. The back side 504 of the lid structure 102 is positioned opposite the spout 126. FIG. 5 depicts a front perspective view of the lid structure 102 with the lid cover 109 removed, illustrating its overall shape and the location of the spout 126 opening. FIG. 6 depicts a rear perspective view of the lid structure 102 with the lid cover 109 removed. FIG. 7 depicts a top perspective view of the lid structure 102 with the lid cover 109 removed.

[0049] FIG. 8 provides a bottom perspective view of the lid structure 102 with the lid cover 109 removed, revealing key internal components that facilitate the two drinking configurations described further herein. The bottom side 304 of the lid structure 102 comprises a connection port 802 and a secondary port 804. The connection port 802 has a generally cylindrical shape that extends outward from the bottom side 304 of the lid structure 102. The connection port 802 is configured to retain the removable straw 302 in a fixed position (as further described in FIGs. 9A-9E). The secondary port 804, also generally cylindrical in shape, is positioned within the connection port 802 in a coaxial arrangement and extends outward from the bottom side 304 of the lid slruclure 102. It is contemplated that the connection port 802 can extend around a perimeter of the secondary port 804, providing structural support and ensuring proper fluid alignment when transitioning between drinking configurations.4937-0183-2864 vl

[0050] The connection port 802 and the secondary port 804 are structured to enable two distinct drinking configurations (as further described in FIGs. 9A-9E). In a first configuration, the removable straw 302 is secured to the fluid passageway 310 via the connection port 802, enabling liquid from the liquid reservoir 1004 to flow through the fluid passageway 310 and up through the removable straw 302 (e.g., when the beverage container is right-side up). In a second configuration, the removable straw 302 is removed from the fluid passageway 310, allowing liquid from the liquid reservoir to flow directly through the secondary port 804 and into the spout 126 (e.g., when the beverage container is tilted or inverted), facilitating direct consumption from the spout without the use of the removable straw 302.

[0051] The secondary port 804 is configured to direct fluid from the fluid passageway 310 through the spout 126, ensuring controlled liquid flow regardless of whether the removable straw 302 is in place. The secondary port 804 may be formed as a unitary molded piece with the lid structure 102, or it may be a separately formed component that is secured within the connection port 802. In some configurations, the secondary port 804 may be affixed using a gasket, adhesive bonding, or an interlocking snap-fit mechanism to ensure a secure and leakproof seal while allowing liquid to flow efficiently through the spout 126.

[0052] As further described in FIG. 9B, the secondary port 804 is angled in a planar field relative to the bottom side 304 of the lid structure 102. This angular configuration optimizes liquid flow when the removable straw 302 is removed. The angular orientation of the secondary port 804 ensures that when the removable straw 302 is absent, liquid is naturally guided toward the spout 126, optimizing fluid flow for the user when drinking in the second (i.e., chugging) configuration. This feature enhances user experience by minimizing residual liquid retention within the liquid reservoir 1004 and ensuring a smooth drinking experience.

[0053] FIGs. 9A-9E depict a keyed straw assembly 900 comprising the removable straw 302 equipped with a sleeve 901. One example of such a keyed straw assembly 900 can be found in U.S. Patent Application No. 18 / 529,703, filed on December 5, 2023, titled “Keyed Straw,” which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. The sleeve 901 is further equipped with a straw tab 902 configured to engage the connection port 802 of the lid structure 102 (as previously described in FIG. 8). The straw tab 902 is configured to slide through a guide 903 located within the connection port 802. The guide 903 comprises a vertical portion 904 and a horizontal portion 906, forming a structured path for securing the removable straw 302. During assembly, the vertical portion 904 of the guide 903 directs the straw tab 902 upward, guiding it toward the lid body 108. Once the straw tab 902 reaches the horizontal4937-0183-2864 vlportion 906, the straw tab 902 is locked into position, securing the removable straw 302 within the lid structure 102. In order to aid a user’s grip of the keyed straw assembly 900, the sleeve 901 may further be equipped with a straw handle 908.

[0054] The removable straw 302 may be made from any suitable material that is safe for use and food grade such as, for example, stainless steel, glass, silicone, bisphenol A (BPA) free plastics, and the like. The straw handle 908 may be molded onto the removable straw 302, or may be made as one piece with the removable straw 302, or may be fitted onto removable straw 302. The straw handle 908 may be made from the same material as the removable straw 302, or a different material as the removable straw 302. In some configurations, the straw handle 908 may be permanently affixed to the removable straw 302, while in other configurations, it may be removable.

[0055] As shown in FIG. 9C, the keyed straw assembly 900 is inserted into the lid structure 102 by first gliding the removable straw 302 in an upward vertical direction 910 through the vertical portion 904 of the connection port 802. To align the engagement mechanism, the straw handle 908 may be positioned to correspond with the orientation of the straw tab 902. Once the keyed straw assembly 900 is positioned within the connection port 802, it may then be rotated (e.g., in a clockwise direction 912), causing the straw tab 902 to glide through the horizontal portion 906 of the guide 903, thereby locking the removable straw 302 securely within the lid structure 102. The straw handle 908 further facilitates this rotational engagement by providing a stable gripping point. FIG. 9E shows a perspective view of the removable straw 302 locked or otherwise secured within the lid structure 102.

[0056] As further illustrated in FIGs. 9B and 10 A, the secondary port 804 is angled in a planar field relative to the bottom side 304 of the lid structure 102. The secondary port 804 comprises a first portion 914 having a first length and a second portion 916 having a second length greater than the first length. The second portion 916 is positioned further from the front side 502 of the lid structure 102 than the first portion 914. This angled configuration allows the secondary port 804 to efficiently direct liquid toward the spout 126 when the removable straw 302 is not in use (i.e., when the beverage system 100 is tilted or inverted), facilitating smooth and controlled fluid flow when the beverage system 100 is in the second configuration (e.g., chugging) (as depicted by FIG. 10B). The difference in length between the first portion 914 and the second portion 916 accounts for the tilt needed to optimize liquid flow based on the natural drinking motion of the user. In one embodiment, the secondary port 804 is angled at approximately 30 degrees relative to the bottom side 304 of the lid structure 102. In other4937-0183-2864 vlembodiments, the angled orientation may range from approximately 15 degrees to approximately 45 degrees, depending on the desired fluid dynamics and ergonomics of the container. FIG. 10A provides another perspective on how the secondary port 804 is angled relative to the bottom side 304 of the lid structure 102.

[0057] FIG. 10B illustrates the effect of the secondary port’s 804 angular configuration on fluid movement within the container 104. In FIG. 10B, the container 104 is shown in a tilted orientation, with liquid 1002 visibly flowing through the secondary port 804 and the fluid passageway 310. As the container 104 is tipped, the angled nature of the secondary port 804 ensures that liquid 1002 is smoothly directed toward the spout 126. The angular piece within the secondary port 804, as seen in FIG. 10A, provides a guided path for the liquid 1002.

[0058] FIG. 11 shows a deconstructed rear perspective view of the lid structure 102, illustrating its pivoting cover assembly and magnetic biasing elements that facilitate controlled movement between an open position and a closed position. One example of such a pivoting cover assembly can be found in U.S. Patent Application No. 17 / 848,217 filed on June 23, 2022, titled “Beverage System and Lid with Magnetic Spring Mechanism,” which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. As shown, the lid structure 102 comprises several components including a first magnet 1102 housed within a cavity 1104 positioned within a recess 1106 of the lid body 108. The first magnet 1102 may be positioned within the cavity 1104 of the lid body 108 of the lid structure 102 so that the poles of the first magnet 1102 are stacked horizontally. In aspects, a cover 1108 may fully enclose and secure the first magnet 1102 within the cavity 1104 of the lid body 108 of the lid structure 102.

[0059] The pivoting lid cover 109 includes a pivoting member 1110, which aligns with the cavity 1104 and integrates a pivoting magnet housing member 1112. The pivoting magnet housing member 1112 has a magnet housing cavity 1114 configured to house a second magnet 1116 that may have the same size and pole orientation as the first magnet 1102. However, the magnet housing cavity 1114 is configured to house the second magnet 1116 in a rotated configuration with respect to the first magnet 1102 when the pivoting lid cover 109 is in the closed position (shown in FIG. 2). In other words, as further described in FIG. 12 A, the second magnet 1116 is rotated 135° with respect to the first magnet 1102 such that an edge 1118 of the second magnet 1116 is configured to be aligned with and face a top surface 1120 of the first magnet 1102. The second magnet 1116 may be secured within the magnet housing cavity 1114 by cover 1122. Then, the pivoting magnet housing member 1112 may be secured to slot 1124 to the pivoting member 1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109. Then the pivoting member4937-0183-2864 vl1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109 may be pivotably secured to the lid body 108 of the lid structure 102 by fitting protruding members 1126 of the pivoting member 1110 to recessed portions 1128 formed in the lid body 108 proximate the recess 1106 where the first magnet 1102 is housed.

[0060] Additionally, as shown in FIG. 11, the spout 126 comprises a removable cover 1130. The removable cover 1130 may be made from a flexible, food-grade material such as silicone, rubber, thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), or other similar materials that provide a comfortable drinking surface. Alternative materials may include medical-grade plastics, coated polymer blends, or even antimicrobial-treated elastomers to enhance hygiene and durability. The removable cover 1130 offers several benefits, including enhancing user comfort while drinking, reducing the risk of spills by forming a soft, flexible seal around the spout, and protecting the spout opening from dust and debris when not in use. The removable nature of the removable cover 1130 allows for easy cleaning and replacement. The flexible material of the removable cover 1130 also provides a soft bite zone for users who prefer a cushioned drinking surface, particularly during active use or travel.

[0061] Moving on to FIGS. 12A to 12D, where cross-sectional views of the lid structure 102 are shown. Both the first magnet 1102 and the second magnet 1116, are comprised of adjoining magnetic pole segments having opposite polarities, respectively. For case of description, the first magnet 1102 will be described by designating the positive and negative magnetic poles as being negative magnetic pole segment 1202 stacked over positive magnetic pole segment 1204, however, it is contemplated that the positioning of the magnetic poles may be reversed without departing from aspects herein. Thus, as shown, the first magnet 1102 and the second magnet 1116 are aligned and located in close proximity to each other such that the magnetic force field of the first magnet 1102 influences the magnetic force field of the second magnet 1116, as is discussed in greater detail in U.S. Patent Application No. 17 / 848,217, referenced above. Further, the configuration of the first magnet 1102 will be designated as a starting position in accordance with aspects herein.

[0062] Continuing with FIG. 12A, a cross-sectional view 1200 of the lid structure 102 with the pivoting lid cover 109 being in the closed position. As further shown in FIG. 12A, in the closed position, the second magnet 1116 located within the pivoting member 1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109, is rotated 135° from the starting position based on axis 1206 representing 0° of rotation (configuration of the first magnet 1102) such that the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102 is partially facing the positive magnetic4937-0183-2864 vlpole segment 1210 of the second magnet 1116 to a greater extent than the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102 is facing the negative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116. Thus, the repelling forces created by the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 and positive magnetic pole segment 1210, and the partial attractive forces created by the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 and the negative magnetic pole segment 1208, force the pivoting member 1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109 to rotate when the pivoting lid cover 109 is unlocked to move towards the open position (FIG. 12D). The unlocking may be achieved by the user exerting a certain amount of force on the actuator 110 on the pivoting lid cover 109. In other words, the first magnet 1102 and the second magnet 1116 create a magnetic spring mechanism that automatically (without user intervention) rotates the pivoting member 1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109. Although 135° rotation from the starting position is depicted and described, it is contemplated that the rotation may be anywhere between 100° and 180° from the starting position, without departing from aspects herein.

[0063] FIG. 12B shows a cross-sectional view 1220 of the lid structure 102 with the pivoting lid cover 109 being in an intermediate position as the pivoting member 1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109 begins to rotate. Particularly, FIG. 12B shows a position of the second magnet 1116 where the second magnet 1116 is rotated 90° from the initial position (configuration of the first magnet 1102). At this point, the positive magnetic pole segment 1210 and the negative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116 equally face the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102, and thus, the attraction forces between the negative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116 and the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102 are increased with respect to FIG. 12 A.

[0064] Moving on to FIG. 12C, a cross-sectional view 1230 of the lid structure 102 with the pivoting lid cover 109 being in a second intemrediate position as the pivoting member 1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109 begins to rotate, is shown. Particularly, FIG. 12C shows a position of the second magnet 1116 where the second magnet 1116 is rotated 45° from the initial position (configuration of the first magnet 1102). At this point, the attraction forces between negative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116 and the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102 are further increased from the position shown in FIG. 12B, such that the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102 is facing the negative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116 to a greater extent than the partial position shown in FIG. 12B, further increasing the attraction forces between the4937-0183-2864 vlnegative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116 and the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102.

[0065] Finally, as shown in the cross-sectional view 1240 in FIG. 12D of the lid structure 102 with the pivoting lid cover 109 being in the final open position, the second magnet 1116 located within the pivoting member 1110 of the pivoting lid cover 109, is not rotated, or rotated 0° from the starting position (configuration of the first magnet 1102) such that the positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102 is fully facing the negative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116. Thus, the attracting forces created by the negative magnetic pole segment 1208 of the second magnet 1116 and positive magnetic pole segment 1204 of the first magnet 1102 attract each other to a maximum extent. (Although 0° rotation from the starting position is depicted and described, it is contemplated that the rotation may be anywhere between and including 0° and 44° from the starting position, without departing from aspects herein.) This configuration forces the pivoting lid cover 109 to stay in the open position regardless of the angle in which the lid structure 102 is turned. In other words, pivoting lid cover 109 stays in the open configuration regardless of whether the lid structure is right-side-up, up-side-down, or any position in between, which makes dispensing the beverage from the beverage system 100 easier and more convenient because the user does not have to worry about having to hold the pivoting lid cover 109 open by other means, such as, for example, using other fingers, or the other hand, while gripping the container 104 at the same time. Furthermore, in accordance with aspects herein, the attractive magnetic forces in the open position between the first magnet 1102 and the second magnet 1116 are strong enough to maintain the pivoting lid cover 109 open, but are also weak enough that a user may easily push the pivoting lid cover 109 to transition the pivoting lid cover 109 to the closed position with minimal effort.

[0066] FIG. 13 provides a side view perspective of the lid structure 102 and a partial side view of the container 104 in a combined configuration, illustrating the angular configuration of the removable cover 1130. The removable cover 1130 comprises a top side 1302 and a bottom side 1304 positioned opposite the top side 1302. The bottom side 1304 of the removable cover 1130 sits on top of the lid top side 122. Additionally, the removable cover 1130 includes a first side 1306 and a second side 1308, each connecting the top and bottom sides 1302, 1304. The first side 1306 is positioned further away from the front side 502 of the lid structure 102, while the second side 1308 is positioned closer to the front side 502 of the lid structure 102.4937-0183-2864 vl

[0067] The first side 1306 and the second side 1308 have different lengths, as depicted in FIG. 13, forming a first angle 1310 that defines the sloped nature of the removable cover 1130. The spout 126, in contrast, has a top surface 1311 that is flat across its width, forming a second angle 1312 of approximately 180 degrees. The difference between the first angle 1310 and the second angle 1312, indicated as angle 1314, is approximately 5 degrees. In other embodiments, the angular difference 1314 may range from approximately 2 degrees to approximately 10 degrees. This angular offset provides a functional benefit to the user. Specifically, the angled configuration of the removable cover 1130 helps direct liquid flow efficiently during use, improving drinking comfort by optimizing the positioning of the spout relative to the user's mouth. The differing angles also enhance ease of use by aligning with natural drinking motions, ensuring a more ergonomic and controlled flow of liquid.
