ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOGAS-POWERED HEATERBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONCROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0001] The present application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 63 / 790,636, filed April 17, 2025; which is incorporated herein in its entirety and referenced thereto.FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The present subject matter relates to gas-powered heaters, and in particular, relates to a gas-powered heater capable of providing safe, efficient, and odorless heating for residential and commercial spaces.DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
[0003] It is known that heaters are commonly used for warm rooms or outdoor areas. Typically, the heaters are powered by combustion (gas or diesel) or electric energy. Many people worldwide rely on combustion rather than electrical energy due to power shortages or limited access to electricity. While the combustion-based heaters are useful, they present significant drawbacks. For example, more than 50% of the heat generated during the combustion processes escapes into the surrounding air, requiring additional fuel to achieve desired temperature. This inefficiency leads to higher operating costs and increased environmental pollution.
[0004] Gas-powered heaters are widely used in place of diesel heaters due to limitations in infrastructure and unpleasant odors. Several gas-powered heaters have been disclosed in the past. One such example is disclosed in a U.S. Patent No.10,126,016, entitled “Heater for indoor warming using waste heat of exhaust gas” (“the ‘938 Patent”). The ‘016 Patent discloses a fan heater for heating using exhaust waste heat, including: a natural exhaust tube discharging some exhaust gas from a water heater; a forced exhaust tube connected to the natural exhaust tube in a parallel structure, the remaining exhaust gas, excluding naturally discharged exhaust gas,ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOflowing into the forced exhaust tube; a heat exchange device on the upper portion of the forced exhaust tube and supplied with high-temperature exhaust gas; a forced exhaust blower installed on the heat exchange device to draw exhaust gas from the forced exhaust tube and discharge it; a main unit having the heat exchange device embedded therein and having a circulation unit such that low-temperature indoor air circulates into the heat exchange device; a warm-air circulation blower supplying the indoor air towards the outer air circulation unit and circulating the low-temperature indoor air so the exhaust gas exchanges heat; and a control unit.
[0005] Another example is disclosed in a Chinese Publication No. 216953216, entitled “Gas heating device” (“the ‘216 Publication”). The ‘216 Publication discloses a gas heating device with a circulating pipe between a mixing piece and a smoke exhaust structure. The gas heating device allows smoke to be mixed with gas from a gas inlet pipe and then combusted. Flue gas replaces air for primary premixing, reducing the risk of deflagration due to its lower oxygen content. The diluted fuel gas mixture is similar to other fuel gases with lower combustion potential, facilitating development of high combustion speed fuel gas.
[0006] Although the above discussed disclosures are useful, they still have problems and present incomplete solutions. For instance, existing gas-powered heaters lack proper ventilation, which leads to accumulation of harmful gases within the home or enclosed spaces. This may pose a risk of suffocation to occupants. In order to mitigate the above problems, users may leave windows and doors partially open, resulting in inconsistent and inefficient heating.
[0007] Therefore, there is a need in the art to provide a gas-powered heater capable of providing safe, efficient, and odorless heating for residential and commercial spaces.ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOSUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] It is an object of the present subject matter to provide an improved gas-powered heater capable of providing safe, efficient, and odorless heating for residential and commercial spaces.
[0009] It is another object of the present subject matter to provide a gas-powered heater presenting a closed combustion chamber that prevents leakage of harmful and odor gases into the room.
[0010] It is another object of the present subject matter to provide a gas-powered heater having an ignition and safety valve system that facilitates quick ignition and automatic shut-off in case of flame failure.
[0011] It is another object of the present subject matter to provide a gas-powered heater incorporating heat extraction systems that can distribute the heat and extend the path of combustion gases to maximize heat extraction and minimize heat loss.
[0012] It is another object of the present subject matter to provide a gas-powered heater that is economical, cost-effective, touchable, and operational (non-combustible). The gas-powered heater should be safe for homes with young children.
[0013] In order to achieve one or more objects, the present subject matter provides a gas-powered heater. The gas-powered heater includes a base, walls defining an inner layer and an outer layer forming ducts, a burner positioned at the base, metal sheets positioned above the burner and within the inner layer, and exhausts. The inner layer forms a closed internal combustion chamber, isolating the combustion process. The metal sheets distribute the heat and extend the path of combustion gases within the inner layer, maximizing heat extraction and minimizing heat loss. The exhausts expel the combustion gases from the inner layer. The air within the ducts is heated by the combustion process within the inner layer, and hot air is released into the room. The gas-powered heater isolates combustion gases and warms the surrounding environment, providing a safe and odor-free heating solution. The gas-powered heater can be operated with closed doors or windows, or both.
[0014] In one aspect, the gas-operated heater employs a new heating method. The gas-operated heater is economical, healthy (can be used with closed doors and windows), safe from burning (can be touched), and operates with maximum efficiency.ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOThe gas-operated heater does not rely on direct thermal radiation but instead heats the room's air by using two layers: an outer layer that prevents thermal radiation and an inner layer that forms the side of the sealed combustion chamber. Cooling tubes or ducts are formed between these two layers, to prevent the mixing of combustion gases with the room's air and to maximize the heat produced by combustion, the combustion occurs inside a chamber that is 100% isolated from the room's air. A discharge channel directs the gases to external exhaust pipes after extending the path inside the heater to approximately two and a half meters. This is achieved by installing parallel plates equally spaced apart, which create a long discharge channel inside the gas-operated heater. The hot gases are stripped of their heat as they move toward the exhaust outlet, and the heat is transferred to the tubes located between the outer and inner layers. The room's air passes through these tubes, is stripped of heat, and then releases the heat into the room.
[0015] Alternatively, the hot combustion gases can be distributed over slightly inclined vertical tubes, forcing them to pass through these tubes. The gases lose their heat through friction with the inside of these tubes, while the room's air, in turn, strips the tubes of heat and releases it into the room through friction with the outside of the tubes.
[0016] A cooking stove can be added to these heaters, and the fixed burner can be replaced with a movable one. In this case, the remaining parts of the heater are mounted on the wall using arms. In one example, the gas-operated heater consists of three parts: the base, which is partially pyramid-shaped, the body of the heater, which is upright in shape, and the surface, which is partially pyramid shaped and composed of multiple layers.
[0017] In another aspect, the horizontal plates, which work to extend the path of the hot combustion gas and extract heat from the hot combustion gas, are replaced with tubes that perform this function internally. These tubes are arranged in inclined rows to ensure friction between the hot gas inside them and their sides, allowing the heat to be stripped away. The tubes, on their external side, function as cooling tubes located between the two layers. As they are exposed to friction with the cold room air, they heat it and distribute it in the room to provide warmth. The tubes are positioned vertically,ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOwith an inclination of approximately 75 degrees, between two horizontal plates above the stove / oven that receive the hot combustion gases. About 40 to 50 tubes are arranged in five rows with opposite inclinations to aid in cooling the hot gas inside them and heating the cold room air outside them. The two horizontal plates do not allow the hot gases to pass to the exhaust chimney except through the inclined tubes.
[0018] In one advantageous feature of the present subject matter, the gas-powered heater presents a dual-layer design, consisting of a closed internal combustion chamber (inner layer) and an outer heat distribution layer (ducts formed between the outer layer and the inner layer). The internal combustion chamber isolates combustion gases, while the heat distribution layer warms the surrounding environment, providing a safe and odor-free heating solution.
[0019] In one advantageous feature of the present subject matter, the gas-powered heater incorporates exhausts for removal of the combustion gases. This enables the users to keep doors or windows, or both closed while operating the gas-powered heater. The distinguishing feature of the gas-powered heater is its ability to operate with closed doors and windows, as all existing heaters can operate with open doors and windows.
[0020] In one advantageous feature of the present subject matter, the gas-powered heater encompasses dual metal sheets i.e. , a first metal sheet with perforations, and a plurality of second sheets placed at distance from one another within the inner layer. The first metal sheet distributes the heat the flow of heat inside the inner layer. Further, the second sheets absorb heat as the combustion gases pass through, effectively stripping heat of the combustion gas before it is discharged through the exhausts.
[0021] In another advantageous feature of the present subject matter, the gas-powered heater includes an ignition and safety valve that provides quick ignition and also automatically shuts off gas supply to the burner in case of flame failure.
[0022] These and other objects of the present subject matter will be apparent from review of the following specification and the accompanying drawings.ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOBRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0036] Various features and embodiments of a gas-powered heater are explained in conjunction with the description of FIGURES (FIGs) 1-10.
[0037] FIG. 1 shows a schematic diagram of a gas-powered heater 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present subject matter. The presently disclosed gas-powered heater 10 can be placed in a residential and commercial space.Optionally, gas-powered heater 10 may also be placed in an outdoor setting. Gas-powered heater 10 includes a base 12 that rests on a surface such as ground. Base 12 is made of a metal, or any other suitable material capable of withstanding heat. Base 12 comes in various shapes and sizes to suit different needs. Base 12 includes inlets 13 that are configured to draw fresh cold air 50 into gas-powered heater 10. Gas-powered heater 10 includes walls 14 extending perpendicularly from base 12. In one example, walls 14 are made of metal. In some implementations, walls 14 include a plurality of vertical metal sheets mounted side-by-side (vertical to the ground and vertical to the inner and outer casings, connecting them and forming the cooling pipes). Walls 14 define an outer layer (outer wall) 15 and an inner layer (inner wall) 17, forming ducts 53 (FIG. 2) between them. Here, inner layer 17 forms a complete enclosed structure, containing combustion gas 52 within inner layer 17 of walls 14. In other words, inner layer 17 acts as an internal combustion chamber that prevents the gases generated from the combustion process from mixing with the rest of the room's air, spreading within inner layer 17, and being discharged outside after stripping them of heat. Outer layer 15, together with inner layer 17, forms ducts 53 that allow clean air 50 to pass through them, warming up and broadcasting fresh hot air 54 into the room.
[0038] Gas-powered heater 10 includes a burner 16 positioned at the bottom i.e. , just above base 12. Burner 16 includes a natural gas burner, for example. Burner 16 produces heat 18. In accordance with the present embodiment, burner 16 connects to an ignition and safety valve 20 having a lighter. Here, ignition and safety valve 20 is used to light burner 16 and also used as an automatic or manual shut-off valve for cutting off ignition to light up burner 16. In other words, ignition and safety valve 20 actsATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOas an electric ignition system for igniting burner 16, and as a safety valve that automatically or manually shuts off gas flow to burner 16 in case of flame failure.
[0039] Gas-powered heater 10 includes a first sheet 22 positioned above burner 16. First sheet 22 is made of metal. In one example, first sheet 22 connects to opposing inner layers 14 and includes perforations / holes (not shown). Since first sheet 22 connects horizontally to walls 14 and includes the perforations, first sheet 22 may also be referred to as a “perforated horizontal metal sheet”.
[0040] Further, gas-powered heater 10 includes a furnace or oven 24. Oven 24 is presented as a closed structure. Oven 24 is used for cooking food, heating food, and heating liquids. The heat from oven 24heats up combustion gas 52. Further, gas-powered heater 10 includes a plurality of second sheets 26. Second sheets 26 extend from inner layer 17. Here, second sheets 26 are positioned at a distance from one another. Further, gas-powered heater 10 includes an exhaust opening 28 and a exhaust outlet 30. Exhaust opening 28 extends perpendicularly from walls 14, and exhaust outlet 30 extends from exhaust opening 28. Top plates 32 are positioned above walls 14 forming openings 34 that allow heated air 54 to exit into the room.
[0041] In the present embodiment, gas-powered heater 10 can be categorized into three sections, i.e. , a first section 40, a second section 42 and a third section 44. First section 40 includes base 12, burner 16 and ignition and safety valve 20. Second section 42 includes first sheet 22, oven 24, second sheets 26, and exhaust opening 28. Third section 44 includes exhaust outlet 30 and top plates 32. Each of first section 40, second section 42 and third section 44 can come as separate parts that can be removably connected to form gas-powered heater 10. In some implementations, second sheets 26 may be provided as separate, removably connected parts without deviating from the scope of the present subject matter.
[0042] Now referring to FIG. 2, the operation of gas-powered heater 10 is described, in accordance with one embodiment of the present subject matter. As specified above, gas-powered heater 10 can be placed in a residential, commercial space or outdoor setting. Surrounding fresh air 50 containing oxygen is drawn into base 12 of gas-powered heater 10 through inlets 13. The drawn-in air 50 enters inner layer 17, which acts as the internal combustion chamber, via an air channel 11 provided atATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOthe bottom. Simultaneously, air 50 enters ducts 52 formed between inner layer 17 and outer layer 15. Ignition and safety valve 20 is activated to ignite burner 16. In some instances, ignition and safety valve 20 can be configured to ignite burner 16 in less than a second and can also be extinguished as needed. Here, ignition and safety valve 20 ignites burner 16, producing flames 18. As specified above, first sheet 22 having perforations is positioned above burner 16. The heat rising from flame 18 is distributed as it passes through perforations / ducts (not shown) extending for a length of approximately two and a half meters inside inner layer or internal combustion chamber 17. The hot combustion gas 52 passes through perforations in first sheet 22, and bypasses second sheets 26. Second sheets 26 absorb a portion of the heat from combustion gas 52 before combustion gas 52 flows through exhaust opening 28 and exhaust outlet 30. Multiple second sheets 26 present within internal combustion chamber 17 extend the path of combustion gas 52 inside internal combustion chamber 17 and strip the heat of combustion gas 52 before it is discharged via exhaust opening 28 and exhaust outlet 30. This helps to distribute heat across the surface of oven 24 within gas-powered heater 400, preventing heat concentration in the center and thus preventing food from burning. It should be understood that second sheets 26 act as heat absorption devices and gas path extenders. In some implementations, more second sheets 26 may be provided further extending the path of combustion gas 52 to a point that the temperature of exhaust opening 28 and exhaust outlet 30 does not exceed a few degrees, so that exhaust opening 28 and exhaust outlet 30 can be touched and hugged as well by the users or occupants of the room. This allows occupants in the room to sit near gas-powered heater 10 without concern for odor or exposure to polluted gases and without burning or feeling discomfort from the heat.
[0043] In the present embodiment, combustion process takes place inside a closed room i.e., inner layer / internal combustion chamber 17, which has no contact with the atmosphere of the room in which gas-powered heater 10 is located except from below, where air channel 11 is provided to receive the air 50 and oxygen necessary for the combustion process. The combustion gas 52 is contained within inner layer or internal combustion chamber 17 that is closed such that combustion gas 52 does not leak anything that pollutes the room. The combustion gas 52 is made to flow out such that noATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOsmell leaking from it is felt in the room. In some implementations, exhausts 28, 30 are extended sufficiently to expel all of combustion gas 52, maintaining a clean environment within the room where gas-powered heater 10 is located.
[0044] Concurrently, as the combustion process occurs inside inner layer / internal combustion chamber 17, the heat generated by burner 16 inside inner layer 17 is transferred to ducts 53 formed between inner layer / internal combustion chamber 17 and outer layer 15, heating air 50 within ducts 53. The heated air (fresh hot air) 54 then flows upward and exits gas-powered heater 10 through openings 34, entering the room where gas-powered heater 10 is placed. The heated air 54 warms up the room. As heated air 54 is drawn from air 50, it is safe for the occupants to come into contact with it.
[0045] It should be understood that gas-powered heater 10 presents a dual-layer structure i.e., an internal combustion chamber (inner layer 17) and an outer heat distribution layer (ducts 53 formed between inner layer 17 and outer layer 15). The internal combustion chamber forms a sealed environment that prevents combustion gas into the room atmosphere. Inner layer 17 (internal combustion chamber) isolates combustion processes, while the external layer (outer heat distribution layer) enables efficient heat transfer and room warming.
[0046] Gas-powered heater 10 can be operated effectively even with closed doors or windows, or both by drawing in air 50, while simultaneously isolating combustion gas 52 from heated air 54. Isolation and containment of combustion gas 52 within inner layer 17 allows for reduced fuel or gas consumption, in comparison with prior art heaters.
[0047] Now referring to FIG. 3, a schematic diagram of a gas-powered heater 100 is shown, in accordance with another embodiment of the present subject matter. Gas-powered heater 100 is identical to gas-powered heater 10 without the presence of oven 24. Gas-powered heater 100 includes a base 102. Base 102 includes inlets 103 configured to draw air 130 into gas-powered heater 100. Gas-powered heater 100 includes walls 106 extending perpendicularly from base 102. Walls 106 present an outer layer (outer wall) 105 and an inner layer (inner wall) 107 forming ducts 133 with vertical metal sheets present between outer layer (outer wall) 105 and an inner layer (inner wall)ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WO107. Here, inner layer 107 forms a complete close structure for containing and expelling combustion gas 132.
[0048] Gas-powered heater 100 includes a burner 108 positioned at base 102. Burner 108 is capable of generating heat 110. In accordance with the present embodiment, burner 108 connects to an ignition and safety valve 112 having a lighter. Here, ignition and safety valve 112 ignites burner 108 and also acts as an automatic shut-off valve, cutting gas flow to burner 108. Gas-powered heater 100 includes a first sheet or perforated horizontal metal sheet 114 (similar to first sheet 22) positioned above burner 108. First sheet 22 is made of metal, and includes perforations 115.Further, gas-powered heater 100 includes a plurality of second sheets 116. Second sheets 116 extend from inner layer 107 and position at a distance from one another. Further, gas-powered heater 100 includes an exhaust opening 118 (similar to exhaust opening 28) and an exhaust outlet 122 (similar to exhaust outlet 30). Exhaust outlet 122 extends from the top of top plates 120. Top plates 120 position above walls 106 and form openings 124 allowing hot air 134 to exit into the room. It should be understood that the present embodiment is shown to illustrate gas-powered heater 100 without an oven (similar to oven 24), as explained above.
[0049] Gas-powered heater 100 operates similarly to gas-powered heater 10. Here, fresh air 130, containing oxygen, is drawn into base 102. The drawn-in air 130 enters inner layer 107, acting as the internal combustion chamber, via air channel 103 at the bottom. Simultaneously, air 130 flows into ducts 133 formed between inner layer 107 and outer layer 105. Ignition and safety valve 112 activates burner 108, igniting flames 110. First sheet 114 having perforations 115 distributes the heat and extends for a length of approximately two and a half meters inside inner layer or internal combustion chamber 107. Multiple second sheets 116 present within inner layer or internal combustion chamber 107 extend the path of combustion gas 132 inside inner layer or internal combustion chamber 107 while also stripping the heat of combustion gas 132 before it is discharged via exhaust opening 118 and exhaust outlet 122.
[0050] Concurrently, as combustion takes place inside inner layer / internal combustion chamber 107, the heat generated by burner 110 transfers to ducts 133 formed between inner layer / internal combustion chamber 107 and outer layer 105. ThisATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOwarms air 130 within ducts 133. Subsequently, the heated air (fresh hot air) 134 travels upwards and exits via openings 124, warming the room where gas-powered heater 100 is positioned. As heated air 134 originates from air 130 and oxygen, it is safe for the occupants to come in contact with.
[0051] Now referring to FIG. 4, a schematic diagram of a gas-powered heater 200 is shown, in accordance with one embodiment of the present subject matter. Gas-powered heater 200 includes a combustion housing 202 having a base 204. Gas-powered heater 200 includes walls 205 extending perpendicularly from base 204. Walls 205 present an outer layer (outer wall) 206 and an inner layer (inner wall) 207 forming ducts 233 with vertical metal sheets present between outer layer (outer wall) 205 and inner layer (inner wall) 207. Here, inner layer 207 forms a complete close structure for containing combustion gas 232 .
[0052] Gas-powered heater 200 includes a first sheet or perforated horizontal metal sheet 208 (similar to first sheet 22). Further, gas-powered heater 200 includes an oven 210 above first sheet 208. Further, gas-powered heater 200 includes a plurality of second sheets 212. Second sheets 212 extend from inner layer 207 at a distance from one another. Further, gas-powered heater 200 includes an exhaust opening 214 (similar to exhaust opening 28) and an exhaust outlet 218 (similar to exhaust outlet 30). Exhaust outlet 218 extends from the top of top plates 216. Top plates 216 position above walls 106 and form openings 219 allowing hot air 234 to exit into the room.
[0053] Gas-powered heater 200 includes a burner 220 positioned above base 204. Burner 220 encompasses wheels 222 allowing burner 220 to be transported from one place to another. In the present embodiment, burner 220 is provided as a separate component from combustion housing 202.
[0054] In the present embodiment, fresh air 230, containing oxygen, is drawn into base 204. Flames 236 from burner 220 heat air 230. Air 230 also enters ducts 233 formed between inner layer 207 and outer layer 206. First sheet 208 having perforations (not shown) distributes the heat. Multiple second sheets 212 present within inner layer or internal combustion chamber 207 extend the path of combustion gas 232 and strip the heat of combustion gas 232 before it is discharged via exhaust opening 214 and exhaust outlet 218.ATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WO
[0055] Concurrently, as combustion takes place inside inner layer / internal combustion chamber 207, the heat from inner layer 207 transfers to ducts 233, formed between inner layer / internal combustion chamber 207 and outer layer 206, warming up air 230 within ducts 233. The heated air (fresh hot air) 234 travels up and exits via openings 219, warming the room where gas-powered heater 200 is positioned. As heated air 234 comes from air 230 and oxygen, it is safe for the occupants to come in contact with.
[0056] It should be noted that gas-powered heater 200 differs from gas-powered heater 10 in the three ways. First, the upper section of gas-powered heater 200, i.e. , from the perforated plate to the top, is the same as in gas-powered heater 10, except that it lacks base 12 because it is attached with metal arms to the wall or in a corner of the room at the height of the movable burner. Second, base 12 is replaced with a metal hood to capture the hot gas produced by combustion and introduce it into the sealed chamber (inner layer / internal combustion chamber 17). Third, the stationary burner or gas-powered heater 10 integrated with the heater's body is replaced with a mobile burner (on wheels, carrying the gas cylinder) which is detachable in gas-powered heater 200
[0057] Now referring to FIG. 5A, FIG. 5B, and FIG. 5C, a front perspective view, a rear perspective view, and a side perspective view, respectively of a gas-powered heater 300 is shown, in accordance with one exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. Gas-powered heater 300 includes a base 302 (similar to base 12). Base 302 has inlets 304 for drawing fresh air. Gas-powered heater 300 includes walls 306 (similar to walls 14) and top plates 310. Further, gas-powered heater 300 includes an exhaust 308 (similar to exhaust 28). FIG. 6 shows an exemplary ignition and safety valve 350 having a spring 352 that enables shutting off supply of gas to gas-powered heater 300 in case of excess heat within gas-powered heater 300. It should be understood that gas-powered heater 300 operates similarly to gas-powered heater 10, 100, 200 explained above and the current embodiment is shown for mere illustrative purposes.
[0058] FIG. 7 shows a schematic diagram of a gas-powered heater 400, in accordance with yet another embodiment of the present subject matter. Gas-powered heater 400 is identical to gas-powered heater 10. Gas-powered heater 400 includes aATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WObase 402. Base 402 includes inlets 412 configured to draw air 440 into gas-powered heater 400. Gas-powered heater 400 includes walls 404 extending perpendicularly from base 402. Walls 404 present an inner layer (inner wall) 406 and an outer layer (outer wall) 408. In this embodiment, outer layer 408 presents side openings 409 allowing cool air 440 to be drawn into walls 404 from the side. Here, inner layer 406 forms a complete close structure i.e. , internal combustion chamber 405 for containing and expelling combustion gas 442. Gas-powered heater 400 includes a top cover 410 at the top of walls 404.
[0059] Gas-powered heater 400 includes a burner 416 positioned at base 402. In accordance with the present embodiment, burner 416 connects to an ignition and safety valve 419 having a lighter. Here, ignition and safety valve 419 ignites burner 416 and also acts as an automatic and / or manual shut-off valve, cutting gas flow to burner 416.Gas-powered heater 400 includes a first sheet or perforated horizontal metal sheet 420 (similar to first sheet 22) positioned above burner 416. Gas-powered heater 100 includes an oven 422 above first sheet (horizontal plate) 420. Further, gas-powered heater 400 includes a tube housing (horizontal plate) 424 encompassing a plurality of tubes 428. Here, tubes 428 replace the horizontal plates, which work to extend the path of the hot combustion gas and extract heat from them, as presented above. Tubes 428 perform same function i.e., extend the path of the hot combustion gas 442 internally. Tubes 428 are arranged in inclined rows to ensure friction between the hot gas inside them and their sides, allowing heat to be stripped away from hot combustion gases 442, as illustrated in FIG. 7. FIG. 8 shows the arrangement of tubes 228, in accordance with one embodiment. Here, tubes 228, on their external side, function as cooling tubes located between the two layers in the previous models. Because they are exposed to friction with the cold room air, tubes 228 heat the cold air and distribute it in the room to provide warmth. Further, FIG. 9 and FIG. 10 show the side view of gas-powered heater 400 having tubes 428. Although the FIG. 9 and FIG. 10 show the two-layer system, a heater can also be made with a single layer without departing from the scope of the present invention. As can be seen from FIG. 7, tubes 428 are positioned vertically, with an inclination of approximately 75 degrees, between two horizontal plates (first sheet 420 and tube housing 424) that receive the hot combustion gases 442. In someATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOimplementations, 40 to 50 tubes 428, each 25 centimeters or more in length are provided. Tubes 428 are arranged in five rows with opposite inclinations to aid in cooling the hot gas 442 inside them and heating the cold room air 440 outside them.
[0060] Further, gas-powered heater 400 includes an exhaust opening 432 (similar to exhaust opening 28) and an exhaust outlet 434 (similar to exhaust outlet 30). Top plate 410 positions above walls 404 and forms openings 436 allowing hot air 446 to exit into the room. It should be understood that the present embodiment is shown to illustrate gas-powered heater 400 having oven 422, however it is possible to use it without an oven (similar to oven 24), as explained above.
[0061] Gas-powered heater 400 operates similarly to gas-powered heater 10. Here, fresh air 440, containing oxygen, is drawn into base 402. The drawn-in air 440 enters internal combustion chamber 405 via air channel 414 at the bottom.Simultaneously, air 440 flows into side openings 409. Ignition and safety valve 419 activates burner 416, igniting flames 418. Tubes 428 distribute the heat before it is discharged via exhaust opening 432 and exhaust outlet 434, as explained above. Here, two horizontal plates i.e. , first sheet 420 and tube housing 424 do not allow the hot combustion gases 442 to pass to exhaust opening 432 except through the inclined tubes 428. Concurrently, as combustion takes place inside inner layer / internal combustion chamber 105, the heat generated by burner 416 transfers to openings 436 allowing hot air 446 to exit into the room.
[0062] The presently disclosed gas-powered heater provides several advantages over prior art. The gas-powered heater incorporates walls that form an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer presents a closed-combustion chamber that isolates the combustion process, preventing the release of harmful gases like carbon monoxide into the room, and at the same time releasing fresh hot air into the room, which is safe for humans. This eliminates the risk of suffocation and improves indoor air quality. Further, the gas-powered heater incorporates the first metal sheet and a plurality of second sheets positioned within the closed-combustion chamber. The first metal sheet having perforations distribute the heat , while the plurality of second sheets placed at a distance from one another extend the path of the combustion gas inside while also stripping the heat of the combustion gas before it is discharged via the exhausts. TheATTORNEY DOCKET PATENT APPLICATION AJIB001WOprolonging of the heat dissipation minimizes heat loss to the surrounding environment and maximizes heat extraction from the combustion process. This helps to reduce fuel consumption and operating costs.
[0063] A person skilled in the art appreciates that the gas-powered heater can come in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on the need and comfort of the user. Further, many changes in the design and placement of components may take place without deviating from the scope of the presently disclosed gas-powered heater.
