Abstract

A cleaning device for an insulator disc on a power cable is provided. The device includes a housing configured to be securable to the power cable with a wind turbine and a sensing system associated with the housing. The wind turbine has a blade with an adjustable brush attached thereto, the adjustable brush being configured to abut against the insulator disc to clean the disc upon rotation of the wind turbine. The sensing system is configured to sense electric discharge events and is optionally powered by the wind turbine.
