Radio-frequency energy harvesting

Abstract

A radio-frequency energy harvesting apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes an antenna and a set electrodes. The antenna includes a first conductive element spaced apart by a distance from and arranged parallel to a ground plane. The set of electrodes is arranged such that a first electrode of the set is spaced apart from a second electrode of the set and such that a first zone of each of the first and second electrodes extends from a plane in which the ground plane locates to a plane in which the first conductive element locates. The first and second electrodes are arranged such that the first conductive element extends between the first electrode and the second electrode. In use, a potential difference applied across the first zones of first electrode and the second electrode is adjustable in turn to adjust a resonant frequency of the antenna.
