Credential management system and method

Abstract

A credential management system and method for securely retrieving, authenticating, and displaying official credentials on a user communication device. The system includes a remote server associated with an issuing authority and at least one communication device configured to receive user input, capture sample biometric data, and transmit a credential request. Authentication is performed by comparing the biometric data and an authorisation token with pre-stored data. Upon successful authentication, the server transmits a credential response containing current credential data, which is rendered on the device in a read-only form without permanent storage. Credential data is erased from volatile memory after a session or a predetermined time period. The invention ensures secure, real-time access to authoritative credentials such as identity documents, licences, and certificates, while mitigating risks associated with physical documents and tamper-prone digital replicas. A corresponding method and computer-readable medium for implementing the system are also disclosed.
