A tensioning post and a tensioning system

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to fencing. In a particular form the present disclosure relates to constructing fences using wire mesh. In one aspect there is provided a tensioning post for use with a wire mesh, the tensioning post comprising an elongate body, at least a first aperture configured to receive a loose end of the wire, and at least a second aperture for receiving a locking element employed to prevent the tensioning post from rotating in a direction of unwinding. In a further aspect, there is provided a tensioning system comprising the tensioning post serving as a spool for the wire mesh, at least one support for rotationally supporting the tensioning post in a position adjacent to the post, an actuator cooperable with the tensioning post to wind the wire mesh onto the tensioning post, and a locking element operable to prevent the tensioning post from rotating in a direction of unwinding once the desired tension is reached.
