A wireless digital prepaid electricity metering system and method

Abstract

A wireless prepaid electricity metering system and method is disclosed. The system comprises a microcontroller, a touchscreen interface, electrical sensors for monitoring consumption, a wireless communication module, and a plurality of tamper detection sensors. The system authenticates prepaid electricity tokens by communicating with a remote server to validate the token against a blockchain ledger, ensuring token authenticity and preventing fraudulent use. The meter can facilitate on-device payments by generating and displaying a QR code on the touchscreen for a user to scan. The system features advanced tamper detection using sensors for casing intrusion, magnetic interference, and GPS-based geo-fencing. Upon detecting a tamper event, the system transmits an alert to a utility and can remotely disconnect the power supply.
