Application of rilpivirine in preparation of drugs for treating schistosomiasis

Abstract

The present invention discloses an application of Rilpivirine (RPV) in preparation of drugs for treating schistosome infection. The present invention belongs to the technical field of biological medicine, and establishes a schistosomiasis mouse model through the percutaneous infection with schistosome cercariae. After oral administration of RPV, pathological changes such as egg granuloma and fibrosis in liver tissues of schistosome-infected mice in the model are observed. The results show that RPV (as shown in Formula I) significantly alleviates a degree of liver fibrosis caused by schistosome infection. Therefore, the present invention provides a new technical means for treating schistosomiasis, and suggests broad application prospects for RPV in treating fibrosis-related diseases caused by parasitic infection.
