Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for constructing a critical moisture model of corn and an application thereof, and belongs to the field of agricultural technology. The method of present invention includes the following steps of: establishing corn planting zones with differential irrigation water gradients and cultivating corn therein; measuring a whole-plant fresh weight of corn and a whole-plant dry weight of corn at different growth stages in different planting zones, and calculating a moisture content of corn plants; comparing statistically significant differences in whole-plant dry weight of corn cultivated under different irrigation water gradients during the same growth stage; determining a water threshold for each growth stage by an intersection point between the relationship curve of whole-plant dry weight versus moisture content of corn plants and a vertical line of the maximum whole-plant dry weight of corn; and fitting critical moisture thresholds calculated for respective growth stages with an allometric growth curve to establish a critical moisture model of corn, wherein the critical moisture model of corn is SW=7.31 DW0.87. The model is configured to diagnose crop water status effectively.
