A method for preparing surface-modified magnesium hydroxide whiskers and use thereof

Abstract

The present invention relates to the technical field of inorganic functional materials, and proposes a preparation method of surface-modified magnesium hydroxide whisker and its application. A preparation method of surface-modified magnesium hydroxide whisker includes the following steps: adding a modifier to a solvent, stirring, and obtaining a modifier solution; taking magnesium hydroxide whisker and adding it to the modifier solution, ultrasonication, stirring, centrifugation, washing, drying, and obtaining a surface-modified magnesium hydroxide whisker; the modifier includes a coupling agent, stearic acid, and stearyl amide. Through the above technical solutions, the problem of insufficient tensile strength of unmodified magnesium hydroxide whisker in the prior art when applied to polymer matrix while maintaining the flame retardant effect is solved.
