Cutting balloon catheter

Abstract

Provided is a cutting balloon catheter, which includes a catheter body including a proximal and a distal end; a balloon arranged on the catheter body between the proximal end and the distal end; cutters arranged on the outer surface of the balloon; and a delivery channel arranged in the catheter body to deliver media into the balloon, with one end of the delivery channel connected to the balloon and cutters. In balloon dilatation, a small force can cause a great pressure in the middle, so that the stress is concentrated on the blades in the middle of the balloon, to achieve the cutting effect with a smaller force, for less damage to blood vessels but higher effect and safety of dilatation, thereby forming more effective incisions. Moreover, the balloon can expand vascular plaques or inner walls of blood vessels along the incisions during inflation, avoiding irregular tearing during balloon inflation.
