Abstract

The present invention relates to a system and method for adsorption analysis of organic and chemical sorbents for oil spill management on land. The system comprises: a fluid characterization unit for analyzing physical characteristics of oil spill fluids including acid number, pour point, density, viscosity, and pH; a soil analysis unit for determining pH, organic carbon, potash, sulfur, phosphate, and nitrogen in contaminated and treated samples; a sorbent preparation unit for preparing chemical sorbents (sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and sodium lauryl sulfate) and rice husk biosorbent with alkaline treatment capability; a UV-visible spectrophotometry system for analyzing sorbent absorption behavior; and a contact angle measurement system for evaluating wettability characteristics. The system enables comprehensive evaluation and comparison of chemical versus organic biosorbents for remediating hydrocarbon-contaminated well sites, presenting cost-effective and environmentally safe alternatives.
