Abstract
The present invention is related to an IoT-based people counter for religious places. Counting visitors in religious places is challenging, as manual methods are slow and cameras can feel intrusive. This IoT-based people counter use a piezoelectric sensor mat to detect footsteps at the entrance, generating electrical pulses. The ESP8266 microcontroller processes these pulses and sends daily visitor counts to a ThingSpeak dashboard or mobile app. It’s low-cost, privacy-friendly (no cameras), and runs on battery or solar power. This system helps temple staff monitor footfall easily, making crowd management smoother during busy times.
