Content Summarization Range Determination via User Input Location
Find Innovative SolutionsGenerate Solutions
Solution Overview
Problem
Conventional methods for summarizing content are inefficient as they require summarizing entire content or manual designation of summarization ranges, and they do not consider the type of content, leading to decreased readability.
Innovation Solution
An electronic apparatus that determines a content summarization range based on user input and summarizes content within that range according to the type of content, allowing for more targeted and efficient summarization.
Engineering Contradictions & Design Principles
Engineering Contradiction Analysis
1Loss of information
If entire content is summarized using conventional methods, then complete content coverage is achieved, but user time and processing effort increase significantly
Solution Approach 1:
The patent divides content into multiple sections and allows users to select specific sections for summarization. The processor identifies section boundaries and enables targeted summarization of selected sections rather than processing the entire content, thus reducing time loss while maintaining information quality for relevant portions.
Solution Approach 2:
The patent applies different summarization strategies to different content sections based on user selection and content type. Important sections receive more detailed summarization while less critical sections receive condensed summaries, optimizing the balance between information retention and time efficiency.
2Measurement precision
If manual designation of summarization range is required, then summarization precision is improved, but ease of operation deteriorates
Solution Approach 1:
The processor automatically identifies section boundaries and generates section titles based on content analysis. When a user inputs a keyword, the system automatically locates relevant sections and performs summarization without requiring manual range designation, thus maintaining precision while improving ease of operation.
Solution Approach 2:
The patent replaces manual mechanical selection of summarization ranges with an automated keyword-based search system. The processor uses natural language processing to interpret user keywords, locate relevant content sections, and initiate summarization automatically, eliminating the need for manual range specification.
3Productivity
If content is summarized regardless of type, then processing speed is maintained, but readability and quality of summary deteriorate
Solution Approach 1:
The patent applies different summarization methods tailored to specific content types such as news articles, academic papers, and technical documentation. The processor identifies content type through analysis and selects appropriate summarization strategies, ensuring high-quality readable summaries while maintaining efficient processing speeds through optimized algorithms for each content category.

AI summary
An example electronic apparatus and an example method for summarizing content thereof are provided. The example method includes displaying content on a display; based on receiving user input for content summarization, determining, as a content summarization range, from among content areas which are not displayed on the display, a content area corresponding to a location on the display at which the user input is detected; summarizing content within the content summarization range according to a type of the content; and displaying the summarized content along with the displayed content. The example electronic apparatus and example method may summarize the content by using a rule-based algorithm or an Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm.
