Mobile Private Network Management via Core-Specific Command Translation
Find Innovative SolutionsGenerate Solutions
Solution Overview
Problem
Existing mobile private networks (MPNs) require separate management interfaces and configurations due to differences in core network types, leading to inefficiencies and increased complexity, especially when managing multiple MPNs across different sites.
Innovation Solution
A centralized management portal and microservices module translate generic user commands into core network type-specific commands, allowing management of multiple MPNs through a single interface, independent of the underlying core network type, and providing consolidated views and metrics.
Engineering Contradictions & Design Principles
Engineering Contradiction Analysis
1Adaptability or versatility
If separate management interfaces are used for each MPN to accommodate different core network types, then compatibility with specific core network types is improved, but management complexity and time consumption increase
Solution Approach 1:
The patent introduces a command translation service as an intermediary layer between the generic management interface and core network type-specific interfaces. This service receives generic commands, translates them into type-specific commands, and communicates with the appropriate core network interface, thereby resolving the contradiction between universal management and type-specific compatibility
Solution Approach 2:
The management interface is designed with universal functionality to handle multiple core network types through a single generic interface. The command translation service enables this universality by adapting generic commands to work across different core network types (LTE, 5G, etc.) without requiring separate interfaces for each type
2Adaptability or versatility
If separate management interfaces are used for each MPN, then core network type specificity is maintained, but management efficiency and productivity decrease
Solution Approach 1:
The command translation service acts as a mediator that enables efficient universal management while preserving core network type specificity. It automatically translates generic management commands into type-specific commands, eliminating the need for manual configuration and improving management efficiency across multiple MPNs
Solution Approach 2:
The system uses command templates and translation rules that can be copied and adapted across different core network types. Once a command translation rule is established for a particular core network type, it can be reused and copied for similar configurations, significantly improving management productivity
3Reliability
If multiple separate management interfaces are deployed, then each MPN can be managed independently, but system complexity and difficulty of operation increase
Solution Approach 1:
The management interface provides universal functionality to manage multiple MPNs through a single interface. Users can independently manage each MPN while benefiting from a unified, consistent interface that simplifies operations and reduces the learning curve
Solution Approach 2:
The command translation service mediates between user-friendly generic commands and complex type-specific operations, allowing users to manage MPNs independently through a simplified interface without needing to understand underlying core network type differences

AI summary
A system and method for management of one or more mobile private networks, MPNs, each MPN being implemented on a type of core network. The system comprises a management portal, at least one subscription data repository, and a microservices module. Each of the at least one subscription data repository is associated with a MPN of the one or more mobile private networks, MPNs, and the microservices module is in communication with the management portal and the at least one subscription data repository. The microservices module is configured to: receive from the management portal one or more generic command generated according to input from a user at the management portal, the input for management of a destination MPN of the one or more mobile private networks, MPNs; and translate the one or more generic command to one or more core network type-specific command, the one or more core network type-specific command being compatible with a type of core network on which the destination MPN is implemented. The microservices module is further configured to direct the one or more core network type-specific command to a subscription data repository of the at least one subscription data repository, the subscription data repository being a subscription data repository associated with the destination MPN.
