Media Entity Description Pages From Transcript Chapterization
Find Innovative SolutionsGenerate Solutions
Solution Overview
Problem
Existing media entity pages, such as those for podcasts, often lack timely updates and relevant information, leading to missed opportunities for creators and reduced listener engagement and advertising revenue.
Innovation Solution
Transcribe media entities into text, chapterize the text into logical segments, determine summary sentences and key phrases, and identify participants, generating descriptive pages that include interactive features for playback and downloading.
Engineering Contradictions & Design Principles
Engineering Contradiction Analysis
1Measurement precision
If pages for media entities are not updated frequently, then device complexity and processing requirements are reduced, but the accuracy and relevance of information displayed deteriorates
Solution Approach 1:
The system performs preliminary actions by generating comprehensive media entity pages in advance that include multiple sections (summary, chapters, participants, key phrases, timestamps) which can be stored and displayed without requiring frequent updates. This preliminary generation ensures high information accuracy while reducing subsequent update complexity.
Solution Approach 2:
The media entity page is segmented into multiple independent sections including summary information, chapter breakdowns, participant profiles, key phrases, and timestamp references. Each segment can be independently processed and updated, allowing the system to maintain high information accuracy without requiring complete page regeneration, thus reducing overall complexity.
2Productivity
If detailed information and interactive features are added to media entity pages, then listener engagement increases, but device complexity and processing requirements increase
Solution Approach 1:
The page is divided into distinct functional segments including summary content, chapter listings with timestamps, participant information, key phrases, and interactive playback controls. This segmentation allows each feature to be processed independently, enabling rich interactivity without overwhelming system complexity.
Solution Approach 2:
The patent introduces an intermediary processing layer that generates structured data representations of media entities, which then serve as templates for rendering various interactive features. This intermediary structure mediates between the raw media content and the diverse interactive elements, reducing overall system complexity while maintaining high engagement capabilities.
3Loss of information
If pages are updated timely with accurate information, then advertising revenue and listenership opportunities increase, but processing time and computational resources increase
Solution Approach 1:
The system performs preliminary processing to generate complete media entity pages including all information sections (summary, chapters, participants, key phrases) in advance. This preliminary action ensures information accuracy is achieved without requiring time-consuming updates, as the comprehensive data is prepared beforehand and can be displayed immediately.
Solution Approach 2:
The system implements self-service mechanisms where the media entity page automatically generates and updates its own content sections including summary information, chapter breakdowns, participant details, and key phrases without requiring manual intervention. This automation maintains high information accuracy while reducing the time cost of manual processing.

AI summary
Pages describing episodes of podcasts or other media entities are constructed by interpreting content of the media entities. A transcript of an episode is determined by one or more natural language understanding techniques and divided into chapters. For each of the chapters, a summary sentence of the chapter and one or more key phrases are determined from the transcript, and participants in the chapter are identified. A summary of the episode is determined from the summary sentences of each of the chapters. A page that describes the episode of the podcast including the summary of the episode, as well as one or more of the key phrases and identities of the participants is generated and provided to prospective listeners to the episode.
