Video Summary Creation Using Flexible Segments and Highlight Moments
Find Innovative SolutionsGenerate Solutions
Solution Overview
Problem
Manually editing videos for summaries is time-consuming, and automatic solutions lack flexibility in selecting video portions and maintaining continuity.
Innovation Solution
A system that identifies highlight moments within video content, determines flexible video segments based on these moments, and allocates duration to create a video summary, allowing for selection of segments based on minimum, target, and maximum segment durations.
Engineering Contradictions & Design Principles
Engineering Contradiction Analysis
1Adaptability or versatility
If manual editing is used to create video summaries, then flexibility in selecting video portions is improved, but time consumption increases
Solution Approach 1:
The video content is divided into multiple flexible video segments based on highlight moments, allowing the system to selectively assemble portions of the video into a summary without requiring manual frame-by-frame editing, thus reducing time consumption while maintaining selection flexibility
Solution Approach 2:
The system introduces flexible video segments as an intermediary between the original video content and the final summary, enabling automatic selection and assembly of relevant portions while preserving the ability to adjust which segments are included
2Loss of time
If automatic solutions are used to create video summaries, then time consumption is reduced, but flexibility in selecting video portions deteriorates
Solution Approach 1:
The system employs dynamic flexible video segments with adjustable duration parameters (minimum, target, and maximum durations) that can be adapted to different summary requirements, allowing automatic processing while maintaining flexibility in segment selection and assembly
3Productivity
If automatic solutions are used to create video summaries, then productivity is improved, but continuity of the summary deteriorates
Solution Approach 1:
The system performs preliminary analysis to identify highlight moments within the video content before assembling the summary, ensuring that segments are selected based on meaningful content boundaries that maintain narrative continuity while enabling efficient automatic processing

AI summary
Video information defining video content may be accessed. Highlight moments within the video content may be identified. Flexible video segments may be determined based on the highlight moments. Individual flexible video segments may include one or more of the highlight moments and a flexible portion of the video content. The flexible portion of the video content may be characterized by a minimum segment duration, a target segment duration, and a maximum segment duration. A duration allocated to the video content may be determined. One or more of the flexible video segments may be selected based on the duration and one or more of the minimum segment duration, the target segment duration, and/or the maximum segment duration of the selected flexible video segments. A video summary including the selected flexible video segments may be generated.
