Existing casement handles with gear multipliers are bulky, aesthetically unappealing, and have an inconvenient user experience due to a decentralized operating pin position, leading to uncomfortable operation and ineffective closure mechanisms.
A compact handle design with a gear multiplier mechanism where the axis of rotation of the operating pin is aligned with the handle's axis, allowing for a reduced volume and comfortable user experience, utilizing a multiplier gear mechanism that transmits motion from a 15°-30° handle rotation to achieve a 90° pin movement, with a centralized pin position for standard operation.
The solution provides a comfortable and effective user experience by aligning the operating pin with the handle's axis, resulting in a compact and aesthetically pleasing handle that maintains the standard operation feel while ensuring efficient casement closure.
Description
Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a handle for casements, for example for sliding casements, as windows and door. More precisely, the invention relates to a handle with its own rotation between 15° and 30°, i.e. a handle equipped with a gear multiplier.State of the Art
[0002] In casements in general and in particular in sliding ones, the closure of the movable wing on the fixed frame is obtained by insertion into an abutment seat made on the frame of a movable clamping pin, mounted on the wing and operated by the handle. The latter is operatively interfaced to the movable stop through an operating pin. Such a handle is disclosed in e.g. FR2865493A1.
[0003] As mentioned, the movement of the pin from free position to insertion position within the abutment is controlled by the handle which rotates upon the user's manual action, by the angle necessary to bring the movement to completion.
[0004] Commonly this angle of rotation of the handle is 90°, where the position in horizontal arrangement (with reference to the walking surface) corresponds to the free position of the pin, therefore of open casement. However, there are applications in which it is required that the handle is free to perform a lower angle of rotation. In greater detail, in sliding casements, if the handle made a rotation of 90°, it would be in a horizontal arrangement with respect to the walking surface, i.e. directed according to the sliding direction of the casement itself. In this position, the user finds it difficult to grasp the handle and exert on it the dragging force necessary for sliding the casement.
[0005] For these reasons, preferably the handles for casements of this type are free to make a maximum rotation comprised between 15°- 30° so that the handle is positioned in an arrangement that is close to the vertical one, even with the pin in a free position and is more comfortable to grasp for dragging the casement until opening.Summary of the invention
[0006] To obtain this result, multiplier mechanisms are used, which make it possible to obtain a complete movement of the pin in case of a rotation of the handle by only 15° - 30°. The complete movement of the pin is obtained with a rotation of the operating pin by 90°, hence the need for the multiplier gear mechanism.
[0007] However, the mechanisms known in the art are bulky and therefore such known handles are aesthetically impactful.
[0008] Moreover, since according to the standard currently adopted in the field, the handles have fixing screws placed at a given distance to adapt to the holes already present on the wing, the operating pin is intermediate with respect to these fixing screws but consequently in a decentralized position with respect to the axis of rotation of the handle. This makes the user experience a use and operation that differ from standards he / she is used to, giving back the feeling of an uncomfortable and unsatisfactory operation.
[0009] Another drawback found in the currently known handles is that the multiplier mechanism, in transmitting the movement to the central operating pin, causes the rotation reversal with respect to the rotation of the handle rod knob, forcing the use of a closure mechanism of the movable wing with opposite movement of the pin, jeopardizing the effectiveness of the closure itself.
[0010] The object of the present invention is to provide a handle equipped with a gear multiplier which has a reduced volume.
[0011] A further object of the present invention is to provide a handle with a gear multiplier wherein the axis of rotation of the operating pin is aligned with that of rotation of the handle.Brief description of the figures
[0012] Features and advantages of the handle according to the present invention will become clearer from the following description of an embodiment thereof, made by way of a non-limiting example with reference to the appended figures, in which Figure 1 shows a sliding casement with a handle in the open position, i.e. in the position of open casement and, in dashed lines, the handle in the closed position, i.e. in the position of closed casement; Figure 2 is a cross section of the handle according to the invention mounted on the casement; Figure 3 is an exploded and isolated perspective view of the handle according to the invention; Figure 4a shows the handle with handle rod in the closed position; and Figure 4b shows the handle with handle rod in the open position. Detailed description of the invention
[0013] With reference to the aforementioned figures, the handle 1 according to the invention is adapted to be associated with a casement 2. The casement can be of any type; in the embodiment illustrated the casement is of the sliding type.
[0014] The casement comprises a wing 20 and a fixed frame 21, on which the wing is engaged, in this case in a sliding manner. For this purpose, the wing further provides for sliding means 200 (such as for example but not limited to at least one carriage or similar) associated with a lower crosspiece 201 of the wing and resting on a lower crosspiece 210 of the fixed frame, and such as to slide on it according to a sliding axis X for opening or closing the wing with respect to the frame. The X axis is generally a horizontal axis defined on the plane of the wing.
[0015] The wing further comprises a vertical upright 202 perpendicular to the lower crosspiece 201 to which the handle 1 is associated according to the invention. In the closed position of the casement, the vertical upright 202 of the wing abuts against a vertical upright 211 of the fixed frame. The vertical upright 202 defines a vertical axis Y, lying on the plane of the wing and perpendicular to the sliding axis X.
[0016] A lock mechanism of a known type is provided for the engagement or the disengagement of the wing with respect to the frame. In particular, the lock mechanism, indicated generically with the reference 212, comprises an abutment mechanism within which a pin is engaged. The pin is directly and integrally operated by an operating pin of the handle.
[0017] It should be noted that in the present description the wording of closed casement means the position of the casement with vertical upright 202 of the wing in abutment with the vertical upright 211 of the fixed frame. Vice versa in the open position of the casement, this abutment does not occur. The casement is clamped when the pin is snapfitted in the abutment mechanism. Therefore the pin can be moved between a free position in which it is not engaged in the abutment mechanism and the wing is free and can be opened, that is, moved along the axis X away from the vertical upright of the fixed frame, and a clamped position, in which the pin is engaged in the abutment mechanism and the wing is hindered by the sliding movement according to the X axis.
[0018] Going into detail of the invention, the handle 1 comprises a handle rod knob or more simply a handle rod 10. The handle rod 10 is fixed to the vertical upright 202, rotatably with respect to a first axis of rotation Z, perpendicular to the plane defined by the wing and defining a Cartesian triad with the X and Y axes described above. In the handle according to the invention the handle rod is rotatable between a closed or closing position corresponding to a zero rotation with respect to the vertical axis Y and an open or opening position corresponding to a rotation with angle α of inclination with respect to the vertical axis Y. In a preferred embodiment, this angle α is between 15° and 30°.
[0019] The handle rod 10 is operatively connected to the operating pin 11, in the sense that the rotation of the handle rod 10 activates the rotation of the operating pin 11. The operating pin 11 is therefore rotatable about its own axis of rotation Z' by an angle β, where β is greater than a. Still preferably β has a value of about 90°. The position of the pin free from the abutment mechanism 212 corresponds to this angle of rotation.
[0020] According to an aspect of the invention, as will be clearer below, the axis of rotation Z of the handle rod and the axis of rotation Z' of the operating pin are aligned.
[0021] The handle according to the invention also fits multiplier gear means 12 mechanically interposed between handle rod 10 and operating pin 11 in order to obtain, in case of a maximum rotation of the handle rod a, an angle rotation β greater than the operating pin.
[0022] The handle rod 10 is fixed on a fixing and rotation pin 13 arranged according to the first axis of rotation Z.
[0023] The fixing and rotation pin 13 has a proximal portion 130 shaped for the connection with a head 10a of the handle rod 10. The head 10a is also shaped in a complementary manner so as to interface with the proximal portion 130 of the pin. A dowel 100a stabilizes the connection between head 10a and the proximal portion 130.
[0024] The fixing and rotation pin 13 then comprises a distal opposite end 131 shaped for fixing with the aforesaid multiplier gear means 12. Between the two distal 131 and proximal 130 ends the pin has a stem 132 rotatably keyed to a first base 14, through two bushing 140', 140". The first base 14 connects directly to the upright 202 of the wing, through threaded connections 141', 141" aligned according to axes parallel to the axis Z and arranged spaced apart along the vertical axis Y.
[0025] The first base 14 further defines a seat 142 within which the aforesaid multiplier gear means 12 are housed. It comprises an input motion element 120 fixed rigidly to the distal end 131 of the fixing pin 13. An outlet motion element 121 is connected to the input motion element 120 rotatably with respect to the axis of rotation Z of the pin 13 through a fixing screw 123. The outlet motion element 121 is rigidly connected to the clamping operating pin 11, also located in axis with the fixing pin 130, according to the axis of rotation Z=Z'.
[0026] A multiplier element 122 is interposed between the input element 120 and the output element 121. The multiplier element 122 is rotatably supported by one of the threaded elements 141" for fixing the first base. This rotatable threaded support element defines a second or derivative axis of rotation Z", parallel to the axis of rotation of the handle rod Z and spaced from it along the vertical axis Y. In the embodiment illustrated in the figures the rotatable threaded support element is the lower one, therefore the axis of rotation Z" is lower than the axis of rotation Z. That being said, the opposite solution can be provided, i.e. where the rotatable threaded support element is the upper one, the derivative axis Z" therefore being arranged above the axis of rotation Z.
[0027] Yet, the multiplier element is rotatable about the derivative axis of rotation Z" so as to sweep an angle equal to 2α where a zero rotation corresponds to the closed position of said handle rod, a rotation of 2α corresponds to the open position of said handle rod.
[0028] Going further into detail, the input element 120 supports a first geared sector 120a which engages with a second geared sector 122a of the multiplier element 122. The latter supports a third geared sector 122b with greater radius, which engages with a fourth geared sector 121a defined on the profile of the outlet motion element 121. This engagement sequence allows the transmission of motion from the handle rod 10, through the pin 130 to the operating pin11, with the desired transmission ratio. The output motion element 121 then provides a suitably shaped head 121b for integrally housing the pin 11.
[0029] Yet, the multiplier element 122 provides abutment sides 122c which delimit the third geared sector 122b laterally. At the end of the stroke of the rotation of the handle rod 10 (i.e. in the closed and open positions) the abutment sides 122c will abut on respective side walls 142a, 142b of the seat 142. The side walls 142a, 142b are arranged symmetrically inclined with respect to the vertical axis Y, to define a V shape. Preferably each wall is inclined with respect to the axis Y by the angle a, therefore the V shape defines a vertex angle of 2α.
[0030] The input motion element 120 supports, in opposite position with respect to the first geared sector 120a an engagement protuberance 120b. In the embodiment illustrated in the figures, this engagement protuberance 120b which can be materialised by a further geared sector or more simply by recesses.
[0031] The first base 14 is closed at the rear by a second base 15 fixed to the upright by means of the same threaded connection 141', 141". The second base 15 supports an elastic profile 150 shaped in such a way as to achieve the snap-fit of the engagement protuberance 120b in the end-of-stroke positions of the handle rod. In particular, the elastic profile in a preferred embodiment has the shape of a circular sector opposite to the geared sector 120b which materialises the engagement protuberance. Again with reference to Figures 4a and 4b, in the positions of closed and open handle rod, the engagement protuberance 120b snaps onto the elastic profile, forcing the handle rod into the position reached. This solution stabilises the handle rod in the position reached at the end of the stroke. It also forces the user to exert a slight force on the handle rod to return to the opposite position, a desired and indeed desirable effect because it gives to the user a feeling of stable use and prevents accidental rotation of the handle rod.
[0032] In conclusion, a cover 16 is provided to enclose the first and second base, engaging by snap-fit on the latter, protecting the gear from moisture or dust infiltration.
[0033] The handle according to the invention achieves numerous advantages. Firstly, the operating pin 11 is arranged in axis with the axis of rotation Y' of the handle, therefore it gives the user a feeling of particularly comfortable use.
[0034] Furthermore, thanks to the relative arrangement of the elements of the multiplier gear mechanism, the handle is generally compact, despite a particularly simple constructive solution with respect to those known.
[0035] Yet, the handle can be used on any type of casement, even not sliding one, therefore it is particularly versatile.
