AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In 5G networks, it is difficult for the prior art to effectively manage and optimize the streaming bit rate of uplink and downlink, resulting in lagging network auxiliary request responses and affecting user experience.

Method used

By executing application functions in the AF network computing device in the 5G system, establishing a service-based interface (SBI) or reference point, reporting the capacity and resource status of the radio access network (RAN) in real time, and responding to network assistance requests from the user equipment.

Benefits of technology

Real-time monitoring and reporting of instantaneous and dynamically changing RAN capacity is realized, and can quickly respond to network assistance requests from user equipment, improving the quality of streaming services and user experience.

Abstract

A method for providing streaming service assistance in a wireless network is disclosed, comprising, in response to receiving a network assistance request of a streaming application of a user equipment (UE) computing device, sending, by a processor of the AF network computing device, a radio access network (RAN) capacity request to a second network computing device, the network assistance request specifies an increased bit rate relative to a current bit rate for a flow session associated with the UE; and further in response to the network assistance request, sending, by the processor of the AF network computing device, a capacity demand message to a third computing device of the wireless network, where the capacity demand message identifies an amount of data to be transmitted during the flow session for the UE computing device or during one or more intervals of the flow session for the UE computing device, the third computing device is separate from the UE computing device, the amount of data corresponding to an increase in the bit rate of the streaming session for the UE.
