AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Existing arterial catheters and associated hemodynamic monitoring and ABG sampling systems are complex, expensive, and have the risk of blood exposure and complications such as infections and CRBSI.
Method used
A vascular access system is designed, including a catheter assembly and a sensor probe delivery device, which can measure blood-related parameters within the catheter through the sensing probe assembly and propulsion member and transmit data via wireless or wired means.
Benefits of technology
Real-time, continuous or intermittent measurement and analysis of hemodynamic and blood parameters is achieved, reducing system complexity and complication risks, and improving patient safety and monitoring accuracy.

Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a vascular access system and a sensor probe delivery device. A vascular access system includes a catheter assembly having a catheter and a near-patient access port. A sensor probe delivery device is coupled to a proximal patient access port, where the delivery device includes a sensing probe assembly having a probe member including one or more sensors and an electrical connector positioned proximal to the probe member. A housing of the delivery device movably receives the sensing probe assembly and includes a detachable portion separable from a remainder of the housing. The lock couples the housing to the proximal patient access port, and the advancement member is movable relative to the housing to move the sensing probe assembly between a first position and a second position, where the distal end of the probe member is disposed into or out of the catheter when in the second position to enable measurement of one or more blood-related parameters.
