Description

[0001] The invention relates to an arrangement with an airbag module and a firing channel housing according to claim 1.

[0002] Airbags are used to protect people in motor vehicles. The airbag module contains a folded airbag that deploys toward the driver in the event of an accident through the firing channel surrounded by the firing channel housing, protecting them from injury.

[0003] The prior art provides various options for connecting the firing channel housing and the airbag module. DE 102 03 286 A1 discloses a positive connection on one side and a screw connection on the opposite side. DE 10 2009 031 120 B4 discloses a firing channel housing with two guide grooves into which guide projections of an airbag module are inserted to secure the airbag module to the firing channel housing.

[0004] DE 10 2012 011 525 A1 discloses an airbag assembly with a firing channel and a body-mounted airbag module with a housing and an airbag. The airbag module has a mechanical interface, and the firing channel has a mechanical counter-interface, through which the firing channel can be coupled to the housing during the assembly movement of the instrument panel in the assembly direction.

[0005] DE 10 2006 055 909 A1 discloses an airbag module which is attached to a vehicle interior trim part.

[0006] In contrast, the invention is based on the object of achieving a simple and secure attachment of the airbag module to the firing channel housing.

[0007] This object is achieved by an arrangement according to claim 1 and by a method according to claim 5. Embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.

[0008] According to the invention, the assembly comprises an airbag module and a firing channel housing. The airbag module comprises an airbag housing and an airbag arranged in the airbag housing. The firing channel housing comprises a guide groove and a fastening groove. The airbag housing comprises a guide projection and a second fastening projection. The guide projection can be inserted into the guide groove, and the second fastening projection can be inserted into the fastening groove.

[0009] The guide groove is arranged on a first side of the firing channel housing, and the fastening groove is arranged on a second side of the firing channel housing. This arrangement of the grooves is particularly advantageous for quick and secure fastening. The fastening groove differs from the guide groove in that the airbag housing can be fastened in the fastening groove using the second fastening projection. This can be understood, for example, as a form-fitting fastening. The fastening may merely be sufficient for further assembly. In this case, additional fastening means can be used to attach the airbag housing to the firing channel housing.

[0010] According to the invention, the first side is arranged adjacent to the second side. Because the two grooves are arranged on two adjacent sides, an alignment of the airbag housing relative to the firing channel housing in a first direction can be achieved by inserting the guide projection into the guide groove. Subsequently, the guide projection can be guided through the groove, so that the second fastening projection is inserted into the fastening groove.

[0011] According to the invention, the second fastening projection and the fastening groove are designed for a positive connection with one another. It is particularly possible for the second fastening projection to be clipped into the fastening groove, for example, by guiding the guide projection through the guide groove.

[0012] Furthermore, according to the invention, the guide groove is approximately L-shaped. The two approximately perpendicular legs of the L-shape can be arranged perpendicular to the fastening groove.

[0013] Furthermore, according to the invention, the arrangement comprises at least one screw. The airbag housing can be connected to the firing channel housing using the screw. Such a screw connection increases the stability of the connection between the firing channel housing and the airbag housing.

[0014] Furthermore, according to the invention, the airbag housing can be connected to the firing channel housing by fastening the screw to a third side of the firing channel housing, which is arranged opposite the second side. In particular, the screw can be screwed into the firing channel housing.

[0015] Preferably, the first side runs approximately parallel to a longitudinal axis of the motor vehicle, while the second side runs approximately parallel to a transverse axis of the motor vehicle. The longitudinal axis is understood to be the axis that extends in the direction in which the motor vehicle can be moved as intended without steering. The transverse axis extends in a horizontal direction and is aligned perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

[0016] Preferably, the second fastening projection can extend over more than half of the second side when inserted into the fastening groove. It is particularly preferred if the second fastening projection extends over the entire second side in this state. This allows a particularly good connection between the second fastening projection and the fastening groove to be achieved.

[0017] According to one embodiment of the invention, the guide groove can have a first section and a second section, wherein the second section can directly adjoin the first section. The first section and the second section are arranged at an angle to one another. This angle is preferably less than or greater than 180°. The airbag housing can be inserted into the firing channel housing by inserting the guide projection into the first section. The airbag housing can be connected to the firing channel housing by inserting the guide projection through the second section. The second section is preferably designed as a bag section.

[0018] The arrangement of the two sections is advantageous because the airbag housing is initially positioned using the first section. The detachable connection of the airbag housing to the firing channel housing is then achieved by movement through the second section. This enables particularly simple and secure installation.

[0019] According to one embodiment of the invention, the second fastening projection can be connected to the fastening groove when the guide projection is guided through the second section. This can be done, in particular, with a positive fit. This creates a particularly easy-to-establish connection between the firing channel housing and the airbag housing.

[0020] According to one embodiment of the invention, the second fastening projection and the guide projection can be arranged simultaneously in the fastening groove and the guide groove. This can mean, in particular, that the second fastening projection can be arranged in the fastening groove, while the guide projection is arranged simultaneously in the guide groove.

[0021] The method according to claim 5 comprises inserting a guide projection into a guide groove. These are preferably the guide projection and the guide groove of an arrangement according to an embodiment of the invention. Subsequently, the airbag housing is connected to the firing channel housing by inserting a second fastening projection into a fastening groove. These are preferably the second fastening projection and the fastening groove of an arrangement according to an embodiment of the invention. During the insertion of the second fastening projection, the guide projection is guided through the guide groove. Subsequently, the airbag housing is connected to the firing channel housing by means of at least one screw.

[0022] Further features and advantages of the present invention will become clear from the following description of preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings. The same reference numerals are used for identical or similar components and for components with identical or similar functions. Fig. 1 a schematic perspective view of an airbag housing and a firing channel housing; Fig. 2 schematic sectional views of an arrangement according to AD of an embodiment of the invention; Fig. 3 is a schematic sectional view of an arrangement according to an embodiment of the invention; and Fig. 4 a schematic sectional view of an arrangement according to an embodiment of the invention.

[0023] The arrangement comprises a firing channel housing 100 and an airbag housing 101. An airbag can be arranged in the airbag housing 101, which can be deployed through the firing channel housing 100 into the vehicle interior in the event of an accident. Fig. 1, the firing channel housing 100 is only partially shown for reasons of clarity.

[0024] The firing channel housing 100 has a fastening groove 102 and a guide groove 103. The airbag housing 101 has a first fastening projection 104 and a second fastening projection 105. The second fastening projection 105 can be inserted into the fastening groove 102 and connected thereto in a form-fitting manner.

[0025] In the Fig. 2A to 2D show the connection of the airbag housing 101 to the firing channel housing 100. First, the airbag housing 101 is connected along the Fig. 2A and Fig. 2B in the direction of the arrow toward the firing channel housing 100. The guide projection 200 of the airbag housing 101 is inserted into the guide groove 103 of the firing channel housing 100. In this way, the airbag housing 101 is guided.

[0026] The guide groove 103 is L-shaped. The guide projection 200 is inserted into a first vertically extending section of the guide groove 103. A second horizontally extending section of the guide groove 103 adjoins the first section. Once the guide projection 200 has traversed the first section, the airbag housing 101 can be moved horizontally so that the guide projection 200 slides through the second section. The second section is designed as a blind section. When the guide projection 200 has reached the end of the second section, the second fastening projection 105 is connected to the fastening groove 102.

[0027] By guiding the guide projection 200 in the guide groove 103, a positioning of the airbag housing 101 relative to the firing channel housing 100 is achieved. Furthermore, the guide enables a simple connection of the two housings to one another via the fastening projection 105 and the fastening groove 102.

[0028] In Fig. Figure 3 shows the connection between the fastening projection 105 and the fastening groove 102 in more detail. This connection is a positive-locking connection. Furthermore, the connection is designed such that the airbag housing 101 can pivot relative to the firing channel housing 100 about a pivot axis running along the fastening groove 102. This is represented by a double arrow.

[0029] In Fig.4 shows two states of the arrangement at different times of the connection of the firing channel housing 100 to the airbag housing 101. In the first state, the guide projection 200 is inserted into the guide groove 103. In the second state, the guide projection 200 is located at the end of the second bag section, and the fastening projection 105 is connected to the fastening groove 102. Furthermore, the airbag housing 101 is connected to the firing channel housing 100 by means of a screw 201, thus achieving a secure and stable connection. The screw 201 is arranged on the side of the airbag housing 101 opposite the side with the second fastening projection 105. The screw penetrates the first fastening projection 104. In this state, the airbag housing 101 can no longer pivot.

[0030] Since no screw is used for fastening in the area of the second fastening projection 105, the area below the second fastening projection 105 can be used for other components. No space is required in this area to screw a screw into or out of the assembly.
