AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Existing electrical parking brakes in motor vehicles can cause deformation of centering screws during wheel changes due to excessive torque, preventing proper wheel assembly when the brake disc holes misalign with the wheel hub holes.
Method used
A motor vehicle system that includes a controller to detect when a wheel is lifted off the ground using sensors like wheel speed sensors, spring sensors, or environmental sensors, and automatically deactivate the electrical parking brake for that wheel to prevent torque-induced screw deformation.
Benefits of technology
Ensures secure and efficient wheel changes by preventing screw deformation and ensuring proper alignment of brake disc and wheel hub holes, enhancing vehicle maintenance convenience.

Abstract
A motor vehicle (1) comprises a body (2), a number of wheels (12), a chassis (4) with wheel carriers (10) assigned to the wheels (12), an electric parking brake (22), and a controller (8). This controller (8) is configured to determine, by means of a sensor unit (14), that the motor vehicle (1) is stationary; if stationary, to check, by means of the sensor unit (14) or another sensor unit (16, 18, 20), whether one of the wheels (12) is lifted off the ground; and, if at least one of the wheels (12) is lifted off the ground, to deactivate the electric parking brake (22) for that wheel (12).
