The disclosure relates to a software program product for controlling motor vehicles and their motor vehicle equipment, comprising an application layer comprising one or more software application programs, a basic software layer comprising software service modules, abstraction software modules and drivers for the one or more motor vehicle equipment, an adaptation layer with at least one runtime environment that connects the application layer and the basic software layer, wherein the basic software layer includes at least one complex driver configured to provide read access to the data of a motor vehicle equipment.
