Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a passenger transport system designed as an escalator or moving walkway and comprising a disinfection device. Passenger transport systems are used to transport people within buildings or structures. Germs in the form of viruses, bacteria, spores, and / or microbes can accumulate on the surfaces of a passenger transport system. To prevent their transmission to users of the passenger transport system, a disinfection device can be provided in the system. The disinfection device can be configured to disinfect movable surfaces of the passenger transport system, for example, by killing and / or removing germs present there.
[0002] One possible design for a disinfection system utilizes light sources such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that emit germicidal electromagnetic radiation. For example, so-called UVC LEDs can be used for this purpose; these emit high-energy ultraviolet radiation, also known as UVC radiation, which typically has a wavelength range of 100–300 nm, most commonly 180–280 nm.
[0003] EP 4 126738 A1 describes a passenger transport system in the form of an escalator or moving walkway, which is equipped with a disinfection device. The disinfection device uses UVC light-emitting diodes to irradiate a handrail from different directions and thus disinfect it.
[0004] CN 106 608 587 A discloses a passenger transport system with a disinfection unit and sensors integrated into the handrail. A control unit of the passenger transport system is connected to the sensor and the disinfection unit via a communication module. As soon as the sensor detects that a user grasps one of the handrails, the passenger transport system and the disinfection unit are activated in a start / stop function. As soon as the user releases the handrail, the speed of the escalator is reduced, if necessary, to a standstill. A disadvantage of the proposed solution is that, in the event of a failure of the disinfection unit, the user must grasp a handrail contaminated with germs in order to start or keep the escalator running.
[0005] JP 2006 193319 A also discloses a disinfection device with UVC LEDs, in which hot air is additionally blown onto the handrail by means of a hot air blower. The hot air is intended to dry the surface of the handrail in order to further reduce the survival chances of germs.
[0006] The object of the present invention is therefore to ensure that the disinfection device reliably disinfects movable surfaces on the passenger transport system and features a design that results in low installation, maintenance and therefore low costs.
[0007] This problem is solved by a disinfection device for disinfecting a movable surface of a passenger transport system, comprising the features of claim 1. The disinfection device has a housing with an interior space and at least one radiation source arranged in the interior space, wherein the radiation source can emit germicidal electromagnetic radiation. To allow the germicidal electromagnetic radiation to penetrate from the interior space and disinfect a movable surface of a passenger transport system, a side wall of the housing facing the radiation source is designed to be radiation-transparent. The disinfection device also has a device arranged in the interior space of the housing and at least one radiation measuring sensor. The device is positioned between the at least one radiation source and the radiation-transparent side wall and enables the radiation sensor to adequately detect a portion of the radiation emitted by the at least one radiation source. By detecting a portion of the radiation emitted by the radiation source, the functionality of the disinfection system can be verified. Furthermore, the radiation intensity can be measured and adjusted as needed, since radiation sources such as UVC fluorescent tubes or UVC LEDs are subject to an aging process and their radiative power decreases over time with a constant energy input.
[0008] A further advantage of this arrangement is that the at least one radiation source, the device, and the at least one radiation measuring sensor are hermetically sealed inside the housing and therefore protected from environmental influences such as moisture and dirt. Furthermore, this proposed "all-in-one" solution results in minimal installation effort, since the radiation measuring sensor is already ideally positioned and aligned with the radiation sources inside the housing using the device. This eliminates the need to find a suitable mounting location for the radiation measuring sensor within the passenger transport system during installation of the disinfection unit. Replacing a damaged or otherwise malfunctioning assembly is also simplified in this way.
[0009] In one embodiment of the invention, a plurality of radiation sources can be arranged distributed across a circuit board. This circuit board can be arranged parallel to and opposite the radiation-transparent side wall, within the interior of the housing. Naturally, the circuit board can also form a side wall of the housing opposite the radiation-transparent side wall, with the radiation sources arranged on the circuit board being located within the interior.
[0010] As mentioned above, a device is also arranged inside the unit, which enables the radiation measuring sensor to adequately detect a portion of the radiation emitted by the at least one radiation source. This device can be designed in various ways.
[0011] In one of these embodiments, the device can have a projection arranged on the circuit board that extends towards the radiation-transparent side wall.
[0012] The at least one radiation measuring sensor is arranged on this projection such that it has an elevated position relative to the radiation sources, allowing a portion of the radiation emitted by these sources to be directly detected by the radiation measuring sensor. The device may also include other components such as cable connections, wireless transmitters, fasteners connecting the projection to the radiation measuring sensor, fasteners connecting the projection to the housing or the circuit board described above, and the like.
[0013] InIn a further embodiment, at least one radiation measuring sensor is arranged on the circuit board. The device comprises a reflective zone arranged in the area of the radiation-transparent side wall. The reflective zone is arranged in relation to the radiation measuring sensor and the radiation sources such that a portion of the radiation emitted by the at least one radiation source can be deflected onto the radiation measuring sensor.
[0014] In a further embodiment, the circuit board has at least one opening. Inside the circuit board, a radiation measuring sensor is arranged in a plane spaced further away from the board and at a greater distance from the radiation-transmitting side wall than the board itself. As part of the device, a reflective zone is also arranged in the region of the radiation-transmitting side wall such that a portion of the radiation emitted by the at least one radiation source can be deflected through the opening onto the radiation measuring sensor. This altered beam path allows the radiation measuring sensor to detect a larger reflective zone.
[0015] The previously described embodiments of the device can be implemented individually within the interior, meaning that only one of these embodiments is present. However, it is also possible for two of these embodiments to be implemented within the same interior. For example, if one radiation measuring sensor is arranged on a projection and is directly irradiated, and another radiation measuring sensor is arranged on the circuit board and is indirectly irradiated by radiation deflected in the reflecting zone, the sensor signals of these two radiation measuring sensors can be compared and evaluated. A similar decrease in both sensor signals would, for example, indicate weaker emitting radiation sources. For example, if the radiation sensor mounted on the protrusion continuously detects the same amount of radiation, but the radiation sensor mounted on the circuit board detects an increasing amount, this could indicate that the radiation-transparent side wall is becoming increasingly covered with reflective dirt. Further analyses are possible, such as the complete failure of a radiation sensor, and so on.
[0016] The reflective zone can also be designed in different ways. In one variant, the device has a sticker that adheres to the surface of the radiation-transmitting side wall facing the interior and has a radiation-reflecting coating as its reflective zone.
[0017] In a second variant, the device can comprise a coating or treatment applied to the surface of the radiation-transparent side wall facing the interior, which has a radiation-reflecting property.
[0018] Furthermore, the reflecting zone can be designed to be partially reflective, so that a portion of the emitted radiation is reflected and the remainder of the emitted radiation passes through the device in the reflecting zone.
[0019] Depending on the specific characteristics of the reflective properties, the reflective zone may only partially span the radiation-transmitting side wall. The areas not spanned by the reflective zone allow the germicidal electromagnetic radiation emitted by the radiation sources to pass through the radiation-transmitting side wall almost unimpeded.
[0020] In a further embodiment, the device can have a converging lens which is arranged on the circuit board and protrudes from the radiation-transparent side wall. Here, the radiation from the radiation source reflected from the inner walls of the housing is focused at a focal point or focal line of the converging lens and directed onto a radiation measuring sensor.
[0021] To simplify maintenance of the disinfection unit, the radiation-permeable side panel can be designed as a removable cover section. This allows free access to the interior of the housing when the cover section is removed.
[0022] To ensure uniform irradiation of a movable surface, such as a curved surface like a handrail, the disinfection device can have two mirror-symmetrical apertures attached to opposite sides of the housing such that the radiation-transmitting side wall is positioned between the apertures projecting laterally towards it. Each aperture comprises a sheet metal section formed by bends, with one end of the formed section fixed to the housing and the other end extending towards the sheet metal section opposite it. To minimize scattering losses, the inner surfaces of the two formed sheet metal sections facing each other and the radiation-transmitting side wall are designed as mirror surfaces. Thus, the two panels together with the housing form a tunnel through which the movable surface to be disinfected, for example that of the handrail described above, is passed.
[0023] The disinfection device described above is specifically designed for use in passenger transport systems, such as escalators or moving walkways. Such a passenger transport system has at least one balustrade, which includes at least one continuous handrail. This handrail has the movable surface to be disinfected, as it moves with the conveyor belt and is gripped by users of the passenger transport system during travel. Accordingly, the passenger transport system has at least one disinfection device for each continuous handrail.
[0024] Since in most cases the balustrade includes a base in which a return section of the handrail is concealed from users of the pedestrian walkway, it is advantageous to install the disinfection unit in the balustrade base. This preserves the aesthetic appeal of the balustrade and protects the user from the germicidal electromagnetic radiation, which cannot penetrate the typically opaque cladding panels of the balustrade base.
[0025] To transport users, the passenger transport system includes a continuous conveyor belt. The forward section of this belt is accessible to users, while the return section is concealed within the system, hidden from them. Naturally, the conveyor belt also represents a movable surface that can be disinfected as needed. Therefore, the passenger transport system can also include at least one disinfection device for the conveyor belt. In this case, however, covers may not be necessary.
[0026] Embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, whereby neither the drawings nor the description are to be interpreted as limiting the invention. Furthermore, the same reference numerals are used for identical or similarly functioning elements. The drawings show: Figure 1: a simplified view of a passenger transport system designed as an escalator with a disinfection device; Figure 2: a cross-section along line AA through the passenger transport system of the Figure 1 Figure 3: a three-dimensional view of the [unclear] in the Figure 1 and 2 The disinfection device shown, with a section of the handrail of the passenger transport system symbolically represented by a double arrow; Figure 4: a cross-section of the disinfection device shown in Figure 4: a cross-section of the handrail of the passenger transport system ... Figure 3 The depicted disinfection device with possible design variants of a device that enables the measurement of emitted radiation; Figure 5: a cross-section of the device shown in Figure 3 The depicted disinfection device with further possible design variants of a device that enables the measurement of emitted radiation.
[0027] Figure 1Figure 1 shows a simplified view of a passenger transport system 1 with a truss-shaped supporting structure 11. The passenger transport system 1, designed as an escalator, connects a lower level E1 with an upper level E2 of a building 5. The passenger transport system 1 can be entered and exited via access areas 3. A continuous conveyor belt 9 is arranged in the supporting structure 11, which is deflected at the upper level E2 and at the lower level E1, thus having a leading section and a returning section. For the sake of clarity, the detailed representation of the returning section has been omitted, as have detailed representations of the ribs, guide rails, and rail blocks.
[0028] The passenger transport system 1 further comprises two balustrades 15 extending along each longitudinal side of the conveyor belt 9, wherein in Figure 1Only the balustrade 15, located in the foreground of the viewing plane, is visible. A handrail 17 is arranged around each balustrade 15, with its return section guided in a balustrade base 13. This balustrade base 13 connects the balustrade 15 to the conveyor belt 11. In other words, the return section of the handrail 17 is concealed from users of the passenger transport system 1, being guided back within the balustrade base 13. The conveyor belt 9 and the handrails 17 are driven by a motor 21, which is operatively connected to them via a reduction gear 7. The motor 21 is controlled by a control unit 19.
[0029] Furthermore, the passenger transport system 1 has at least one disinfection device 41 for each surrounding handrail 17. This is also installed in the balustrade base 13 of the balustrade 15 and is therefore concealed from the users of the passenger transport system 1. A disinfection device 42 can also be provided for the conveyor belt 9, which can be of the same basic design as a disinfection device 41 for a handrail. Logically, this must be larger, since the conveyor belt 9 is significantly wider than a handrail 17.
[0030] In the Figure 2 is a cross-section through the passenger transport system 1 according to Figure 1The cross-section is shown along line AA. Both the forward and return sections of the conveyor belt 9 are visible in this section. The conveyor belt 9 is guided on guide rails 23 within the supporting structure 11. To the left and right of the forward section of the conveyor belt 9, which is located at the top when the passenger transport system 1 is installed as intended, a balustrade 15 and a balustrade base 13 are arranged. Within the balustrade base 13, clamping devices 29 are provided, concealed by cladding plates 25, 27. These clamping devices serve as clamping receptacles for the individual balustrade panels 33. The lower end of each balustrade panel 33 is fixedly clamped in at least one of the clamping devices 29. The clamping devices 29 are arranged along the longitudinal extent of the passenger transport system 1 within the balustrade base 13 on the supporting structure 11.Below the clamping devices 29, a disinfection device 41 is provided for each handrail 17 arranged around the balustrade 15, which is equipped with radiation sources 43 that can emit germicidal electromagnetic radiation in the area of their light cone.
[0031] Since the return section of the handrail 17 is also guided in the balustrade base 13, it is advantageous to arrange the disinfection device 41 in the balustrade base 13 and to guide the return section through or over this disinfection device 41. This ensures that under no circumstances can harmful electromagnetic radiation reach the users of the passenger transport system 1. The same considerations apply to a disinfection device 42, which is intended to disinfect the conveyor belt 9. Its arrangement is preferably provided below the return section of the conveyor belt 9, so that the surfaces that come into contact with users can be adequately irradiated. Furthermore, a baffle 44 can be arranged between the forward and return sections, so that the germicidal radiation cannot penetrate through gaps and cracks in the conveyor belt 9 and reach the users.
[0032] The Figures 3 to 5 They all show the same thing already in the Figure 1 and 2 The disinfection device 41, or at least parts thereof, shown and intended for handrail 17, is therefore... Figures 3 to 5 The following is described together. So that in the Figure 3 To show more details, handrail 17 of the passenger transport system 1 is symbolically represented by a double arrow. Figure 4 shows a cross-section of the in Figure 3 The depicted disinfection device 41 shows possible design variants of a device that enables the measurement of emitted radiation. Also the Figure 5 shows a cross-section of the in Figure 3 The depicted disinfection device 45 with further embodiment variants of a device that enables the measurement of emitted radiation. In the Figures 4 and 5For the purpose of simplifying the present document and illustrating possible combinations, two possible design variants of the device are shown, whereby only one of these design variants can be implemented in a disinfection device 41.
[0033] The Figures 3 to 5The disinfection device 41 shown comprises a housing 51, the side walls 53, 55, 57, 59 of which enclose an interior space 61. In the present embodiment, the side walls 53, 55, 57, 59 are designed as flat side walls 53, 55, 57, 59, so that the housing 51 has the shape of a flat, rectangular box. At least one of these side walls 53, 55, 57, 59 is designed as a radiation-transmitting side wall 57. A plurality of radiation sources 43 are arranged in the interior space 61. In the present embodiments, the radiation sources 43 are shown as UVC light-emitting diodes that can emit electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 100 to 300 nm, preferably 220 to 280 nm. The UVC light-emitting diodes or radiation sources 43 are arranged in a flat distribution on a circuit board 63, on which further electronic components 65 required for the operation and control of the radiation sources 43 may also be installed. The radiation sources 43 have a luminous cone 45 due to their design, and they emit germicidal electromagnetic radiation within the area of their luminous cone 45. The luminous cones 45 are directed towards the radiation-transparent side wall 57. In other words, the radiation-transparent side wall 57 faces the radiation sources 43, or the circuit board 63 equipped with the radiation sources 43 is arranged opposite the radiation-transparent side wall 57.
[0034] In order to make the interior 61 accessible and to facilitate the assembly and maintenance of the disinfection device 41, the radiation-permeable side wall 57 can be designed as a cover that can be detached from the rest of the housing 51.
[0035] The disinfection device 41 also includes a device 71 arranged in the interior 61 of the housing 51 and a radiation measuring sensor 81. In the present embodiment, only one radiation measuring sensor 81 is provided in the interior 61 of the housing 51. Of course, several radiation measuring sensors can also be provided if required. The device 71 is arranged between the at least one radiation source 43 and the radiation-transparent side wall 57 and enables the radiation measuring sensor 81 to detect a sufficient proportion of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the at least one radiation source 43. By detecting a portion of the radiation emitted by the radiation source 43, the functionality of the disinfection device 41 can be checked. On the other hand, the radiation intensity can also be measured and adjusted if necessary, since radiation sources such as UVC fluorescent tubes or UVC LEDs are subject to an aging process and their radiative power decreases over time with a constant energy input. An additional advantage of this arrangement is that the at least one radiation source 43, the device 71, and the radiation measuring sensor 81 are hermetically sealed within the interior 61 of the housing 51 and are therefore protected from environmental influences such as moisture and dirt.
[0036] In order to enable the detection of a proportion of the radiation emitted by the radiation sources 43 by the radiation measuring sensor 81 arranged in the interior 61, various design variants of the device 71 are proposed below.
[0037] In a first design variant, which is particularly evident in the Figure 4As shown, the device 71 has a projection 73 arranged on the circuit board 63, which extends towards the radiation-transparent side wall 57. At least one radiation measuring sensor 81 is arranged on this projection 73 such that the radiation measuring sensor 81 has an elevated position relative to the radiation sources 43. In other words, the projection 73 is a base arranged on the circuit board 63 that rises above the UVC LEDs or radiation sources 43 and holds the radiation measuring sensor 81 in at least one of the light cones 45 emanating from them. Due to the elevated position of the radiation measuring sensor 81, a portion of the radiation emitted by the radiation sources 43 can thus be directly detected by the radiation measuring sensor 81.
[0038] In another embodiment of the device, which is also in the Figure 4As shown, the circuit board 63 has at least one opening 75. A radiation measuring sensor 81 is arranged in a plane of the interior 61 spaced apart from the circuit board 63 and at a greater distance from the radiation-transparent side wall 57 than the circuit board 63. In addition, a reflective zone 77 belonging to the device 71 is arranged in the region of the radiation-transparent side wall 57 such that a portion of the radiation emitted by the at least one radiation source 43 can be deflected through the opening 75 onto the radiation measuring sensor 81.
[0039] In a further embodiment of the device 71, which is described in the Figure 5As shown, a radiation measuring sensor 81 is arranged on the circuit board 63. The device 71 further comprises a reflective zone 77 arranged in the region of the radiation-transparent side wall 57, which is positioned relative to the radiation measuring sensor 81 and the radiation sources 43 such that a portion of the radiation emitted by at least one of the radiation sources 43 is deflected onto the radiation measuring sensor 81. Preferably, however, the reflective zone 77 is arranged such that a portion of the radiation from each of the radiation sources 43 arranged in the interior is reflected onto the radiation measuring sensor 81. Optionally, the spatial conditions of the interior 61 are so limited that more than one radiation measuring sensor 81 is required, thereby allowing the radiation sources 43 to be monitored in groups.
[0040] To provide a reflective zone 77, the device 71 can include a sticker that adheres to the surface 79 of the radiation-transmitting side wall 57 facing the interior 61 and has a radiation-reflecting coating as the reflective zone 77. In other words, such a sticker is a surface element whose front side reflects radiation and whose back side is designed to be self-adhesive for adhesion to the surface 79. Another possibility is that the device 71 includes a coating or treatment applied to the surface 79 of the radiation-transmitting side wall 57 facing the interior 61, which has a radiation-reflecting property. It is also possible that the reflective zone 77 is partially reflective, so that a portion of the emitted radiation is reflected and the remainder of the emitted radiation passes through the device 71 in the reflective zone 77. As in the . Figure 3 As indicated, the reflective zone 77 preferably only partially spans the radiation-transmitting side wall 57, so that the radiation emitted by the radiation sources 43 can largely penetrate the radiation-transmitting side wall 57 unhindered.
[0041] In a further embodiment of the device 71, which is also in the Figure 5As shown, the device 71 has a converging lens 83. The converging lens 83 is arranged on the circuit board 63 and extends towards the radiation-transmitting side wall 57, whereby electromagnetic radiation from the radiation sources 43, reflected from the inner walls of the housing 51, is focused at a focal point 85 or along a focal line of the converging lens 83 and directed onto a radiation measuring sensor 81. Naturally, this embodiment can also include a reflective zone 77, which is arranged or formed in the area of the radiation-transmitting side wall 57 and reflects a portion of the radiation onto the converging lens 83.
[0042] In order for a handrail 17 to be adequately disinfected, all surfaces that can be touched by a user must be irradiated with electromagnetic radiation. To achieve this, the disinfection device 41 can be used as described in the Figures 3 to 5The figure shows two mirror-symmetrical apertures 91, 93. The two apertures 91, 93 are attached to two opposite sides of the housing 51 such that the radiation-transmitting side wall 57 is arranged between the laterally projecting apertures 91, 93. Each aperture 91, 93 comprises a sheet metal part 94 formed by bends, with one end 97 of the formed sheet metal part 94 fixed to the housing 51 and the other end 95 of the formed sheet metal part 94 extending towards the sheet metal part 94 arranged opposite the housing 51. In order to deflect the electromagnetic radiation penetrating through the radiation-permeable side wall 57 and striking the apertures 91, 93 onto the surface of the handrail 17 to be disinfected with as little scattering loss as possible, the inner surfaces 99 of the two shaped sheet metal parts 94 facing each other and the radiation-permeable side wall 57 are designed as mirror surfaces.Since conveyor belt 9 only has surfaces to be disinfected that can be sufficiently irradiated or disinfected from one direction of radiation, the following applies to the . Figure 1 and 2 Disinfection device 42 shown in outline, no apertures 91, 93 required.
[0043] Although the Figures 1 to 5Different aspects of the present invention are illustrated using a passenger transport system 1 designed as an escalator, which is intended to connect vertically spaced floors E1 and E2. It is obvious that the described disinfection devices 41 and 42 can be used equally well with inclined or horizontally arranged moving walkways. As described, the reflective zone is preferably located on the inside of the radiation-transmitting side wall and thus between the radiation source and the radiation-transmitting side wall. This protects the reflective zone from damage caused by environmental influences. However, it goes without saying that a reflective zone located directly on the outside of the radiation-transmitting side wall is a functionally equivalent solution and is therefore included in the scope of protection.
[0044] Finally, it should be noted that terms such as "comprising," "encompassing," etc., do not exclude other elements or steps, and terms such as "a" or "an" do not exclude a plurality. Furthermore, it should be noted that features or steps described with reference to one of the above embodiments may also be used in combination with other features or steps from other embodiments described above. Reference numerals in the claims are not to be considered as limitations.
