The system achieves both high rigidity and flexibility, ensuring durability and edge protection, with the ability to absorb mechanical stresses and maintain structural integrity.
Description
Domaine technique
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of trunks, in particular those that can be moved by rolling using a set of wheels.
[0002] It's important to note that trunks are distinct from suitcases and other smaller luggage. Trunks are defined as large, rigid pieces of luggage. Specifically, trunks are generally larger (taller and longer) and more rigid than suitcases, and typically have a rectangular shape. ETAT DE LA TECHNIQUE
[0003] The state of the art includes the description of luggage and methods for manufacturing such luggage which include a step of assembling a frame, for example a frame composed of angle irons which define a substantially parallelepiped structure on which panels are then assembled to form a body, and a lid allowing the luggage to be opened and closed.
[0004] Document CN 2 190 894 Y describes such luggage.
[0005] Document EP3476241A1 describes such a method for assembling this type of luggage. However, this type of luggage is not a trunk and does not have a comparable structure.
[0006] However, there is a need for larger luggage, in other words, trunks. Trunks allow for the transport of greater volume and weight and are generally designed to be stronger and more durable. This implies that trunks must be very robust. The faces of this type of trunk are perfectly parallel in pairs, with adjacent faces forming right angles. The edges of such trunks must be protected by mortise and tenon joints that reinforce them.
[0007] However, it is difficult to ensure both the rigidity and flexibility required for such trunks.
[0008] The invention aims to provide trunks exhibiting both high rigidity and suitable flexibility. The trunks according to the invention are thus robust and durable. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing such trunks. PRESENTATION DE L'INVENTION
[0009] More specifically, the invention relates to a trunk system comprising a body and an opening lid, the body and the opening lid each having a parallelepiped frame composed of a set of rigid panels, including one rigid panel forming a base and four rigid panels forming side walls, each parallelepiped frame having an opening defined by the absence of a rigid panel opposite the base, the side walls being parallel in pairs and orthogonal when adjacent, the rigid panels being engaged in grooves formed in angle brackets, the angle brackets being assembled by means of assembly members, each assembly member having three feet, each foot comprising a fixing member cooperating with a complementary fixing member belonging to each end of the angle bracket,in order to fix three angle brackets to an assembly member to form a right-angled vertex of the corresponding parallelepiped frame, the angle brackets defining edges of the parallelepiped frame of the shaft or the hinged lid, the opening of the parallelepiped frame of the shaft being intended to be closed by the hinged lid pivotally mounted on the shaft, the openings of the shaft and the hinged lid being placed opposite each other, at least one edge of the parallelepiped frame of the shaft and / or the hinged lid being covered on the outside by at least one respective socket assembled by means of mechanical fixing to the rigid panels on either side of the angle bracket corresponding to the edge, the mechanical fixing means being configured to connect, by passing through them, at least one socket to the rigid panels on either side of the angle bracket, and the mechanical fastening means not passing through the angle brackets or the assembly members, at least one socket ensuring a joint between adjacent and orthogonal rigid panels on either side of the corresponding angle bracket, and said rigid panels being thus engaged in the angle brackets without being fixed to them.
[0010] The trunk systems according to the invention have the particular advantage of having both suitable flexibility and great robustness because the solid sockets ensure the protection of the edges, improving the rigidity of the trunk structure, while being stitched or nailed or riveted, for example, directly into the panels, on each side of the angle, but not into the angle itself nor into the assembly elements or "connectors" which ensure the link between the different angles at the level of each vertex of the parallelepiped structure of the trunk system.
[0011] Thus there is flexibility, in other words a degree of freedom, at each interface between an angle and a panel, ensuring the structure has the appropriate flexibility (flexibility is also ensured by the choice of the panels themselves).
[0012] Advantageously, the mechanical means of fixing include a spigot, the spigot being made through the rigid panels on either side of the angle bracket and the spigot not passing through the angle brackets or the assembly members.
[0013] According to one embodiment, the angle brackets have grooves having an L-shaped cross-section and the rigid panels have a fold on at least a portion of their edges, in particular at a right angle, towards the inside of the corresponding parallelepiped frame, so as to form a peripheral border having at least a portion having an L-shaped cross-section, the peripheral borders of the rigid panels being engaged in the corresponding grooves provided in the angle brackets, so as to ensure the engagement of the rigid panels on the angle brackets.
[0014] According to one embodiment, the angle brackets are fixed to the assembly members by means of fixing screws.
[0015] Advantageously, the trunk system includes a reinforcement frame fixed to the barrel at the opening of the parallelepiped frame of the barrel and / or the parallelepiped frame of the opening lid.
[0016] In particular, the reinforcement frame can be made of carbon fiber.
[0017] According to one embodiment, at least one accessory part among: one or more gripping handles, one or more locking locks, one or more hinges, an inner lining, one or more fasteners, one or more hasps, is fixed to the reinforcing frame.
[0018] According to one embodiment, the trunk system includes a band encircling the parallelepiped frame of the barrel at a peripheral edge on the side of the opening, the band protruding, the protrusion being configured to guide the opening lid when closing and to contribute to the rigidity between the barrel and the opening lid when using the trunk system.
[0019] Advantageously, the trunk system also includes removable corners to protect the apexes of each parallelepiped frame.
[0020] The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a trunk system as briefly described above, according to which, for each parallelepiped frame: Rigid panels are cut, and right-angled folds are made on portions of the peripheral edge of the rigid panels to form a peripheral edge of the rigid panels with at least one L-shaped section. The peripheral edge of each rigid panel is inserted into L-shaped grooves on angle brackets. The angle brackets in which the rigid panels are inserted are assembled onto connecting elements to form each parallelepiped frame. Then, a fabric is placed to sheath the rigid panels belonging to each parallelepiped frame from the outside. Sockets are placed on each edge of each parallelepiped frame. Mechanical fixing means are installed to attach each socket to two adjacent rigid panels, the mechanical fixing means being installed on each side of the corresponding angle bracket, the mechanical fixing means passing through.By drilling through them, the corresponding socket and rigid panel, and the mechanical fixing means not passing through the angle bracket or any of the corresponding assembly components, so as to form on the one hand the barrel and on the other hand the hinged lid, the barrel and the hinged lid are assembled, the hinged lid being pivotally mounted on the barrel.
[0021] According to the invention, the canvas can be made of leather or any other suitable facing material.
[0022] According to one embodiment, the mechanical means of fixing consist of a spigot.
[0023] According to an advantageous implementation method, the rigid panels are marked to facilitate the folding of at least a portion of their peripheral edge.
[0024] According to one method of implementation, a reinforcement frame is also fixed to the parallelepiped structure of the barrel and / or to the parallelepiped structure of the opening lid. PRESENTATION DES FIGURES

[0027] The invention relates to a trunk system and a corresponding manufacturing method. figures 1 à 3 show an example of trunk system 1 according to the invention, respectively in isometric view, top view and side view.
[0028] As can be seen on the [ Fig.2 ] or the [ Fig.3 Such a trunk system 1 can sometimes be referred to as a "trolley" type trunk, meaning it has wheels 4 and a telescopic handle 6 for rolling it on the ground. The trunk system comprises a body 110 and a hinged lid 120. The hinged lid 120 is, for example, pivotally mounted on the body 110 via hinges 9.
[0029] The 110mm barrel is formed from an assembly of 2 angle brackets visible on the [ Fig.4 The angle brackets 2 are assembled to form a parallelepiped frame. Five rigid panels 11, as shown in the [ Fig.5 ], are engaged in grooves 21 formed in the angle brackets 2 to create such a parallelepiped-shaped frame. Generally, the rigid panels 11 are preferably made of a material suited to the intended use, and therefore chosen for its strength, lightness, and compatibility with the method of attaching the sockets to the rigid panels, in particular the swaging, described in detail below. Specifically, the rigid panels 11 may be made of a material from the family of self-reinforced thermoplastics, such as srPET (for "self-reinforced polyethylene terephthalate"), srPLA (for "self-reinforced polylactic acid"), etc. The rigid panels may, for example, be made of srPP (for "self-reinforced polypropylene").The parallelepiped frame of the barrel 110 has a top opening intended to be closed by the hinged lid 120, itself configured to be mounted, for example in a pivoting manner, on the barrel 110.
[0030] With reference to the [ Fig.6 ], the angle brackets 2 of the parallelepiped frame of the shaft 110 are connected to each other by assembly members 3. The assembly members 3 are three-axis connecting elements, designated tripods.
[0031] Preferably, the grooves 21 formed in the angle brackets 2 have an L-shaped cross-section, and the rigid panels 11 have a fold 12 along all or part of their peripheral edge. To this end, for example, a weakness is created by cutting a groove in the material of the rigid panel 11, so as to reduce the thickness of the rigid panel 11 along an axis parallel to the edge, for example, at a distance of between 2 mm and 6 mm from the edge. This locally created weakness allows the rigid panel 11 to be folded more easily. This results in rigid panels 11 having at least a portion of their peripheral edge with a fold 12 and therefore an L-shaped cross-section.
[0032] With reference to the [ Fig.7 [ ], which shows a cross-sectional view of the apex of a parallelepiped frame of the trunk system 1, a canvas 90 can be placed on the outside around the perimeter of the frame thus created by assembling angle brackets 2 fixed together by means of fasteners 3, and rigid panels 11. The canvas 90 serves to cover the panels 11. The canvas 90 can be made of leather or another facing material. For example, the canvas 90 can be metal strapping, a film, or any other material suitable for this use as facing and covering a trunk.
[0033] Still referring to the [ Fig.7 ], sockets 50 are placed on the edges of the parallelepiped frame, from the outside of the volume defined by said frame, to protect the edges of the trunk system 1.
[0034] Also in reference to the [ Fig.7 According to the invention, the sockets 50 are assembled to the rigid panels 11 by the insertion of mechanical fastening means capable of passing through, in other words, perforating, the sockets 50 and the rigid panels 11 in order to secure the sockets 50 to the rigid panels 11. The mechanical fastening means may consist of nails or rivets, a combination of both, or any other similar means, for example. In the embodiment described in more detail below, the mechanical fastening means consist of stitching, in other words, a seam.
[0035] As can be seen on the [ Fig.12 ], the 51 connection is thus made through each socket 50 and each rigid panel 11 of the shaft 110. The 51 connection does not pass through the angle brackets 2, nor the assembly members 3 of the shaft 110. In the case where the means of fixing are nails or rivets, or any other similar means, the same applies: the means of fixing pass through the socket 50 and the respective rigid panel 11, on either side of the angle bracket 2, without passing through either the angle bracket 2 or the assembly members 3.
[0036] The hinged cover 120 is also formed from an assembly of angle brackets 2 into which rigid panels 11 are engaged by translation, the angle brackets 2 being fixed to each other via assembly members 3 visible on the [ Fig.9 [] Slots 50 are arranged on the edges of the hinged cover 120 and mechanically fixed, for example stitched, i.e., sewn, to the rigid panels 11, the stitching 51 not passing through either the angle brackets 2 or the assembly members 3 of the cover 120. The stitching 51 is made through each slot 50 and each rigid panel 11 of the hinged cover 120
[0037] The manufacturing process for a trunk system 1 is described below, according to one embodiment. Procédé de fabrication
[0038] Rigid panels 11 are, for example, panels made of self-reinforced thermoplastic material, such as srPLA, srPET, or srPP, cut from semi-processed or consolidated sheets of the chosen self-reinforced thermoplastic material, for example, comprising a plurality of plies, in particular, by way of illustration, seven plies. These rigid panels 11 are shown in particular on the [ Fig.8 ] can be obtained by laser cutting or by any other suitable process.
[0039] Creating a weakness to facilitate folding can also be achieved, for example, by partially cutting through the thickness, particularly using laser cutting or another suitable technique. Rigid panels 11 are preferably scored in this way a few millimeters from the edge, for example 3 mm from the edge, over a portion of their thickness, for example half their thickness, to facilitate folding.
[0040] The rigid panels 11 made of self-reinforcing thermoplastic material are cut to the dimensions of each face of the trunk system 1 shell, the shell corresponding to the parallelepiped structure of the trunk system 1 and having two parts, one for the barrel 110 and the other for the lid 120.
[0041] Thanks to the incision, for example made by laser cutting, a groove is created, in other words a "weakness", for example about 3 mm from the edge at mid-thickness of the rigid panel 11.
[0042] With reference to the [ Fig.10 ], as well as the diagram of the [ Fig.7 ], then the fold(s) 12 of the rigid panel 11 are engaged in one or more grooves 21 provided in each angle bracket 2.
[0043] According to one embodiment of the proposed manufacturing process, the rigid panels are first dressed, in other words covered and sheathed, with fabric 90 (in leather or any other facing material suitable for this purpose, as indicated previously) sheathing the rigid panels 11 from the outside.
[0044] The angle brackets 2 are assembled onto the joining members 3 to which they are fixed, for example by screwing. The joining members 3 allow angle brackets 2 to be joined and fixed together in three directions forming a three-dimensional right angle.
[0045] As depicted on the [ Fig.8 To construct a parallelepiped frame for the trunk 120 of the trunk system 1, the sets of angle brackets 2 and rigid panels 11 are assembled to form a rectangular parallelepiped with one rigid panel 11 forming the bottom of the trunk 110 and four rigid panels 11 forming the side walls of the trunk 110, the trunk 110 being open along its last face. The opening of the trunk 110 is configured to be closed via the hinged lid 120 manufactured in a similar manner to the trunk 110.
[0046] Thus, three panels are assembled by inserting them into respective grooves in angle brackets 2, and the three respective ends of said angle brackets 2 are fixed to a joining element 3, which may be a connector made of plastic or another suitable material, in particular a "tripod" as shown in the [ Fig.9 The assembly member 3 allows three angle brackets 2 to be joined together. Three rigid panels 11 with folded edges 12 are engaged in each angle bracket 2, thus creating the parallelepiped frame of the shaft 110. The parallelepiped frame of the hinged lid 120 is created in a similar way.
[0047] The assembly member 3, also referred to as the tripod, engages with the three angle brackets 2, which form a three-dimensional right angle, to connect them together. The angle brackets 2 are then fixed to the tripods by screwing or any other suitable assembly method, for example, using screws and inserts.
[0048] It is noted that an advantage of the invention is that, by this assembly of rigid 11-plane panels - apart from their folded peripheral edge (folds 12) at right angles, via the angle brackets 2 and the assembly members 3 (or tripods), a rectangular parallelepiped with right angles is produced, without a draft angle as is necessary when using thermoforming and / or plastic injection or thermocompression technology.
[0049] The faces of the frame of the barrel 110, like those of the opening lid 120, are here flat and regular, without concave or convex portion, unlike luggage shells manufactured by thermoforming and / or thermocompression and / or any other method of obtaining by molding, including in self-reinforcing thermoplastic material.
[0050] As a manufacturing process, it is also noted that this technique, according to the invention, of assembling rigid panels 11 assembled by means of angle brackets 2 and tripod-type assembly members 3 (or other equivalent assembly members) also allows easy variation of the respective volumes of the barrel 110 and the opening lid 120 of a trunk system 1.
[0051] A canvas 90 (in leather or any other facing material suitable for this purpose, as previously indicated) is arranged to provide an external covering for the rigid panels 11 of the frame of the barrel 110. The same applies to the opening lid 120.
[0052] Next, we have the sockets 50, as seen on the [ Fig.11 ], to protect the edges of the frame of the barrel 110. The same applies to the hinged lid 120. As is known in the technical field of trunk systems, the sockets 50 constitute reinforcements in the form of right-angled brackets fixed to the outside of the barrel 110 or the hinged lid 120. A socket is thus a long, V-shaped piece made of flexible and resistant material and configured to cover an edge of a trunk system 1 at the junction between two rigid panels 11. The sockets 50 thus protect the edges of the trunk system 1. The sockets 50 are, for example, made of leather or lozine (which is a flexible and resistant material made from vulcanized paper) or any other material having similar characteristics of flexibility and resistance.
[0053] A socket 50 is placed on each edge at the junction of two rigid panels 11 and is mechanically fixed. For example, the socket 50 is stitched and sewn through the rigid panel 11, on each side of the angle bracket 2, without stitching the angle bracket 2 or the fastener 3, to consolidate, reinforce, and stiffen the frame of the shaft 110, composed of angle brackets 2, rigid panels 11 assembled by engaging the L-shaped edges of each rigid panel 11 in a groove 21 of an angle bracket 2, and by fixing the angle brackets 2 together via the fasteners 3. The same applies to the hinged lid 120.
[0054] This increases the robustness of trunk system 1.
[0055] As depicted on the [ Fig.12 In one embodiment, the sockets 50 are therefore stitched onto the rigid panels 11. To this end, stitching is carried out through the sockets 50 and through the rigid panels 11. The stitching 51 through the rigid panels 11, particularly those made of self-reinforcing thermoplastic material, and through the sockets 50, to sew the sockets 50 to the rigid panels 11, makes it possible to consolidate the frame of the shaft 110. The same applies to the hinged lid 120. This protects the edges of the frame of the shaft 110 and conceals the joints of the angle brackets 2 and rigid panels 11. The same applies to the hinged lid 120.
[0056] In parallel, the trunk system 1 according to the invention retains sufficient flexibility to absorb mechanical stresses experienced by the trunk system 1, thereby increasing its strength and durability. Indeed, in the embodiment involving stitching, the stitching threads do not pass through the angle brackets 2 or the assembly elements 3. Consequently, the rigid panels 11 remain able to slide within the grooves 21 of the angle brackets 2, and pivoting around the angle brackets 2 is very limited. This effect is also achieved with other mechanical means of attaching the sockets 50 to the rigid panels 11, such as nails or rivets.
[0057] The faces of the resulting parallelepiped structure of the barrel 110 are thus perfectly parallel. The same is true for the hinged lid 120.
[0058] The hinged lid 120 is thus assembled in a similar manner to the barrel 110. A lid frame is made from angle brackets 2 and rigid panels 41 like those shown on the [ Fig.13 The angle brackets 2 have a groove 21 into which an edge 42 of a rigid panel 41, for example made of self-reinforcing thermoplastic material, is engaged. The angle brackets 2 are fixed to each other via a fastener 3. The fastener 3 comprises, for example, three feet 31, each foot 31 comprising a fastening element cooperating with a complementary fastening element belonging to each end of an angle bracket 2, so as to fix angle brackets 2 to a fastener 3 to form a right angle corresponding to the vertices of the parallelepiped frame of the hinged lid 120.
[0059] Next, according to one embodiment, reinforcement means (reinforcing frame, strapping) and accessories (wheels, telescopic pole, handles, locks) can be assembled, as shown in the [ Fig.14 ].
[0060] To this end, one or more reinforcing frames 81 are provided. Preferably there is one in the barrel 110 and another identical one in the opening lid 120 fixed on the vertical angles 2, that is to say the angles 2 extending orthogonally to the rigid panel 11 forming the bottom of the parallelepiped frame of the barrel 110 and / or the opening lid 120.
[0061] The reinforcing frame(s) 81 can be covered with canvas or any other suitable facing material, such as leather, decorative sheet metal, etc. A thermoformed or non-thermoformed lining can then be installed inside at least one of the parallelepiped frames, in particular inside the shaft 110.
[0062] According to one embodiment, a sheathed 82 strap is placed against the thermoformed lining of the barrel 110. As is known, a 82 strap is a band, in particular metallic or of any other suitable rigid material, used for strapping and reinforcing the trunk system 1.
[0063] In the opening lid 120, similarly, a lining can be installed on the inside of the opening lid 120. A divider can also be installed in the volume of the opening lid 120 or any other functional accessory such as elastic or rigid straps, etc.
[0064] The reinforcing frame(s) 81 are locked onto the frame of the shaft 110 and / or onto the frame of the hinged lid 120, specifically onto the angle brackets 2 of the corresponding parallelepiped frame. The reinforcing frames 81 are then placed against the parallelepiped frame of the shaft 110 and secured to the frame. The same procedure is applied to the hinged lid 120, if applicable.
[0065] The presence of reinforcing frames 81 increases the strength of the trunk system 1. Optionally, functional accessories such as locks 7, hasps (a term referring to the movable metal piece fixed to the opening lid of luggage such as a trunk to allow it to be closed), hinges 9, and straps (a term referring to leather, metal, or textile bands used to keep luggage open) are attached. Screws are used to lock the trunk system structure and to secure these accessories.
[0066] The 81 reinforcement frames are preferably made of rigid, lightweight and strong material, for example aluminium, carbon fibre, ABS, srPP or other self-reinforcing thermoplastic material.
[0067] The metal strip 82 can be part of a reinforcing frame 81 or be a separate component. The metal strip 82 protrudes from the edge of the rigid panels 11, encircling the opening of the parallelepiped frame of the drum 110. The protrusion created by the metal strip 82 is thus orthogonal to the peripheral edge encircling the opening of the drum 110, forming a small wall, for example, 2 to 8 mm high, suitable for guiding the hinged lid 120 of the trunk system 1, particularly when closing it. The metal strip 82 also contributes to the rigidity between the drum 110 and the hinged lid 120 during product use (rolling, carrying, etc.).
[0068] A reinforcing frame 81 is thus fixed for example in the volume of the barrel 110 and another reinforcing frame is fixed in the volume of the opening lid 120.
[0069] According to one embodiment, the vertices of the trunk system 1 are protected by rigid, removable corner pieces 15. The removable nature of the rigid corner pieces 15 protecting the vertices of the parallelepiped-shaped trunk system 1 improves the repairability of the trunk system 1 according to the invention.
[0070] According to one embodiment, the staking 51 can stop before the summit, in particular at a distance of between 10 mm and 15 mm upstream of each summit.
[0071] For example, the stitching is done approximately 2 mm from the edge of the socket 50.
[0072] The thickness of the stitching complex, for leather or lozine sockets 50 stitched into suitable srPP panels, is for example 0.9 mm, with leather or lozine sockets 50, a 90 canvas of thickness between 0.5 mm and 1 mm, rigid 11 multi-ply srPP panels of approximately 1.2 mm thickness, i.e. a total thickness between 2.6 mm and 3.1 mm.
