AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing thrust reversers for aircraft propulsion systems face challenges with aerodynamic disturbances and limited acoustic panel establishment due to the presence of shutters and components in the secondary flow path.

Method used

The use of deployable membranes with strap extensions that form a transition zone, allowing for a reduced width connection to deployment elements, which minimizes aerodynamic impact and drag, while also providing flexibility to prevent damage to surrounding components.

Benefits of technology

This design enhances the performance of aircraft by reducing drag and specific consumption of the propulsive assembly, contributing to improved aerodynamics and reduced environmental impact.

Abstract

The invention relates to a deployable membrane (58) for sealing a secondary flow, for a thrust reverser of an aircraft propulsion system, the membrane extending in a circumferential direction (27) and comprising a membrane extension (70) configured to form a strap, a projecting portion of which has a first connecting part (70a) for the membrane, and a second connecting part (70b) for connection to a membrane deployment element (62) provided within the reverser. The strap includes a transition zone (70c) arranged between its first connecting part (70a) having a first width (L1) in the circumferential direction (27), and its second connecting part (70b) having a second width (L2) strictly less than the first width (L1).
