AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing active energy ray curable compositions struggle to achieve high transparency, high curability, and low curing shrinkage simultaneously, particularly when used in optical materials where transparency and durability are critical.

Method used

The use of a (meth)acrylate (A) with an amide group and a cyclic substituent, combined with a polymerizable compound (B) that includes a chain substituent or a cyclic substituent, to create an active energy ray curable composition that balances amphiphilicity and curability, thereby enhancing transparency and reducing curing shrinkage.

Benefits of technology

The proposed composition achieves high transparency, excellent heat resistance, durability, and impact resistance in the cured product, while maintaining high curability and low curing shrinkage, making it suitable for a wide range of applications including optical materials.

Abstract

To provide an active energy ray-curable composition having various characteristics required for an active energy ray-curable composition and capable of achieving high transparency, high curability to LED light beam and hardening shrinkage resistance, which were difficult to achieve together, and a cured product capable of achieving together transparency, heat resistance, impact resistance, wear resistance, resistance to heat and humidity yellowing, water resistance and endurance, which were difficult to achieve together.SOLUTION: An active energy ray-curable composition containing (A) a (meth)acrylate with an amide group and a cyclic substituent in the molecule, and (B) a polymerizable compound containing one or more ethylenically unsaturated groups in the molecule (excluding A), and at least a polymerizable compound (b1) with a chain substituent having 1 to 36 carbon atoms and / or a polymerizable compound (b2) with a cyclic substituent having 3 to 20 carbon atoms.SELECTED DRAWING: None
