AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Existing driver monitoring devices do not effectively estimate the possibility of dry eye in drivers, which can impact safe driving and driver comfort.
Method used
A driver state estimation device that includes an acquisition unit to measure the degree of eye opening, a detection unit to identify blink patterns, and an estimation unit to assess the likelihood of dry eyes based on these patterns.
Benefits of technology
The device accurately estimates the possibility of dry eyes in drivers, enabling timely interventions such as encouraging drivers to take breaks, thereby promoting safe and comfortable driving.

Abstract
To provide a driver's condition estimation device capable of estimating the possibility of a dry eye of a driver.SOLUTION: A driver's condition estimation device 1 comprises: an acquisition unit 11 which acquires an opening degree of the eyes of a vehicle driver; a detection unit 12 which detects a winking pattern of the driver based on the progress of the opening degree of the eyes; and an estimation unit 13 which estimates the possibility of a dry eye of the driver based on the winking pattern. The detection unit 12 may determine which one of a plurality of patterns the driver's winking at each time is equivalent to, and the estimation unit 13 may estimate the possibility of the dry eye of the driver based on the appearance ratio of the patterns.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
