AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
The responsiveness of the driving force in an internal combustion engine is low during catalyst warm-up, leading to delayed attainment of the required driving force.
Method used
A control device that includes a rotational speed control unit and an ignition timing control unit, which adjust the rotational speed and ignition timing of the internal combustion engine to match the required driving force, with the rotational speed increased and ignition timing retarded as needed.
Benefits of technology
Improves the responsiveness of the driving force by allowing the internal combustion engine to quickly adjust its rotational speed and ignition timing to meet changing driving force requirements during catalyst warm-up.

Abstract
To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of improving responsiveness of driving force.SOLUTION: A control device for an internal combustion engine includes: a speed control section that controls speed of the internal combustion engine; and an ignition timing control section that controls ignition timing of the internal combustion engine. During warming-up of a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine and when a request value of driving force of the internal combustion engine is a first value, the speed control section sets the speed to first speed, and the ignition timing control section sets the ignition timing to first timing. During the warming-up and when the request value of the driving force of the internal combustion engine is a second value lower than the first value, the ignition timing control section sets the ignition timing to second timing that is on timing delay side of the first timing, and the speed control section sets the speed to second speed lower than the first speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
