To provide a signaling method and apparatus capable of reducing transmission overhead.SOLUTION: An image decoding method with an image decoding apparatus comprises: receiving image information, where the image information includes a skip flag, a merge flag, and prediction mode and partition type information; and checking the prediction mode and partition type information, where a prediction unit is derived from a current coding unit on the basis of a partition type, and inter prediction is applied to the current coding unit. For the inter prediction, the partition type indicates one of partition types having 2N×2N, 2N×N, and N×2N on the basis of one of binary codes.
