AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing image processing systems face challenges in performing special playback modes like high-speed or rewind playback due to differences in decoding and reading speeds, leading to display of temporally separated images and increased processing complexity, which complicates the circuit configuration and increases manufacturing costs.

Method used

An image processing apparatus and method that utilizes a buffer to store video streams, assigns reproduction control numbers to media addresses, and manages playback mode changes by using reproduction control numbers to synchronize decoding and reading, simplifying the process and reducing circuit complexity.

Benefits of technology

Enables seamless transition between playback modes without complicating the reading side processing, maintaining a natural video connection and reducing circuit size and manufacturing costs.

Abstract

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing an image are provided to display a natural image to a user in a switch of a reproduction mode by reading a decoded picture again and decoding the read picture if the reproduction mode is changed.CONSTITUTION: The first storing part(120) stores a media address indicating a location in a recording medium(131) where a read picture is recorded, and a reproduction control number corresponding to the media address one by one. A change reporting part receives a change of a reproduction mode and generates a reproduction mode change signal. A buffer(127) stores a video stream read from the recording medium and deletes a stored video stream if there is the change of the reproduction mode. A decoder part(128) decodes a picture forming a corresponding video stream and obtains a reproduction control number corresponding to a picture decoded at timing when the reproduction mode change signal is received or at timing around the reception timing. A reading part obtains a media address corresponding a received reproduction control number and stores a read picture corresponding to the media address in the buffer.© KIPO 2007
