AI Technical Summary
Current cellular systems struggle with efficiently managing different types of traffic, particularly in scenarios requiring low latency and high reliability, such as motion control systems, due to separate handling of uplink and downlink traffic and lack of implicit HARQ feedback.
A resource optimization scheme is proposed where a configuration related to the association of service flows is received, allowing for dependent resource allocations, such as retransmission skipping, dependent DRX operations, and dependent CG operations, to be performed based on the association of service flows.
This approach enables better meeting of service QoS requirements, reducing signaling overhead and power consumption by allowing the UE to perform implicit HARQ acknowledgments and optimize resource usage based on associated service flows.

Description
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
[0001] FIELDS
[0002] Various example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of telecommunication and in particular, to apparatuses, methods, and computer readable storage medium for resource management.BACKGROUND
[0003] In the fifth generation (5G) and beyond mobile networks, different traffic types need to be handled by a system. Besides enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) traffic, which poses high requirements in terms of a data rate and is a main driver for mobile networks developed up to Long Term Evolution (LTE) , there are several use cases like factory automation or vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications characterized by traffic with more strict requirements in terms of latency and reliability. In these scenarios, the term ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) has been introduced for user equipment (UEs) that generate traffic strict to extreme requirements in terms of latency and reliability.
[0004] In the current and legacy cellular system, different types of traffic are normally handled separately. In Extended Reality (XR) and media (XRM) services, solutions are proposed to provide a radio access network (RAN) with associated information of different QoS flows belonging to the same multi-modal service, which aims to perform RAN optimization for e.g., admission control and / or QoS fulfillment.SUMMARY

In the following, unless explicitly stated, a resource in both frequency domain and time domain will be used as an example of a transmission resource for describing some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.
[0047] The 5G has been the first standard to introduce features to meet low latency and high reliability scenarios. The sixth generation (6G) is then expected to include both evolutionary and revolutionary aspects in this context. On the evolutionary path, it is expected that novel features will be introduced to meet the same latency and requirements, but with better efficiency, for example, with lower complexity, reduced cost in terms of energy. On the revolutionary path, more stringent latency and reliability requirements are expected, for example, in the context of short-range in-X sub-networks, which are installed in specific entities like vehicles, robots, production modules, to provide life-critical data service with extreme requirements in terms of latency (such as down to 100 us) and reliability (such as above 5 nines) .
[0048] 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 15 to Release 17 have specified several radio access network (RAN) features that allow very low latency and most communications service availability requirements, including: a flexible frame structure with a large sub-carrier space (SCS) , mini-slot, an uplink configured grant (CG) , downlink semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) , downlink pre-emptive scheduling, survival-time optimized scheduling, Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) packet duplication, Channel Quality Indication (CQI) / modulation coding scheme (MCS) tables for URLLC, and / or the like.
[0049] The cyber-physical applications identified by 3GPP requiring the most stringent latency and reliability requirements are motion control loops, and some service performance requirements for motion control are shown as below:
[0050] FIG. 1 illustrates an example wireless motion control system 100. As shown in FIG. 1, the system 100 may comprise a sensor 105 (which may be used to monitor status of the system 100) , a controller 110 (which may be used to receive report information from the sensor 105, analyze it and generate corresponding commands to finetune) , and an actuator 115 (which may be used to follow the commands from the controller 110 and operate the corresponding mechanism) .
[0051] In such a system as shown in FIG. 1, the communication traffic may include at least a sensor report (for example, from the sensor 105 to the controller 110) and execution commands (for example, from the controller 110 to the actuator 115) . These two types of communication traffic are “associated” . For example, the execution commands are generated based on sensor report (s) . After receiving reported information from the sensor, the controller needs to take time to process it and generate the corresponding control command to instruct the actuator on how to react. Hence, the generation of the second traffic (which comprises the execution commands) is based on the content of the first traffic (which comprises the sensor report (s) ) .
[0052] In the current and legacy cellular system, different types of traffic are normally handled separately. Each of the data packet goes through a specific Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session and a Quality of Service (QoS) flow and is then mapped to a specific Data Radio Bearer (DRB) . A Media Access Control (MAC) entity may schedule radio resources according to QoS of the data and radio environments. Furthermore, different traffic may be scheduled separately.
[0053] In addition, Discontinuous Reception (DRX) is used in LTE and NR on UE battery saving by reducing the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) monitoring time. When Connected DRX (C-DRX) is configured, the MAC entity may monitor the PDCCH discontinuously using the DRX operation as specified in the 3GPP standards such as TS 38.321. The UE will be active on the PDCCH monitoring based on a series of UE based timers and Hybrid Automatic Repeat request (HARQ) process-based timers such as drx-onDurationTimer, drx-InactivityTimer, drx-RetransmissionTimerDL and drx-RetransmissionTimerUL. The HARQ process-based timer in the uplink and the downlink (for example, drx-RetransmissionTimerUL, drx-RetransmissionTimerDL) are operated independently based on scheduling and data transmission in the uplink and the downlink separately.
[0054] An issue arises in the case that there is no downlink feedback channel for feedback of the HARQ Acknowledgement (ACK) / Negative Acknowledgement (NACK) information for uplink data in the current NR system. For uplink data transmission, the UE may only know whether the retransmission is required after receiving the scheduling grant with New Data Indication (NDI) information for the same HARQ process. For adaption to this feature, the drx-RetransmissionTimerUL is started after the uplink data transmission for potential scheduling grant of the retransmission, which is not power efficient due to the high probability of no retransmission needed.
[0055] Furthermore, the CG scheduling is a scheduling mechanism to reduce the signaling and achieve short latency. For a CG configuration, the network may optionally configure a configuredGrantTimer (CGT) . While the CGT is running, the corresponding HARQ process will not be used for a new CG transmission. This may facilitate network scheduling of retransmissions for that HARQ process. But when the uplink data is correctly received by the network and no HARQ retransmission will be scheduled, the behavior that corresponding HARQ process will not be used for a new CG transmission will cause the waste of the resources.
[0056] Power consumption and signaling overhead are two of the most concerned issues for IoT and URLLC services. It seems beneficial to have a way to take the property of associated traffic (for example, in motion control systems) jointly when performing the scheduling and PDCCH monitoring, in order to achieve, for example, signaling overhead reduction and power saving.
[0057] Scheduling and DRX are functions of a MAC layer. The logical channels are used in MAC scheduling for service differentiation. Different QoS flows may be mapped to DRBs at a Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAR) layer, then the different DRBs may be mapped to different logical channels with different priorities and QoS requirements. To achieve the coupled / dependent scheduling and DRX operation, the MAC layer needs to be aware of the linkage / association of the logical channels (for example, for the sensor report and execution commands) as well as the dependent scheduling / data transmission requirement for these logical channels.
[0058] As mentioned, in the XRM services, it is proposed that XR service flows from single UE and multiple UEs are associated, and this type of association information of QoS flows may be provided to the RAN, for example, provided by a Session Management Function (SMF) to the RAN via an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) over an N2 reference point. After deriving the association relationship of QoS flows, the network can configure the uplink QoS flow to the specific DRB and know the associated relationship between the uplink DRB and downlink DRB. However, how the UE gets the associated information of different QoS flows for further optimization is not considered. The association information is agnostic to the UE. There is no way for the UE to get such association information. In addition, there is no dependent DRX operation and CG operation for the associated services.
[0059] Example embodiments of the present disclosure propose a resource optimization scheme. With this scheme, a configuration related to association of at least a first service flow and a second service flow is received by a first apparatus from a second apparatus. Then, first information is transmitted from the first apparatus to the second apparatus. In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may perform resource optimization based on second information of the second service flow from the second apparatus and the configurated association of the first and second service flows.
[0060] By way of example, traffic of the second service flow may indicate implicit HARQ feedback. Upon reception of this traffic, the first apparatus may determine that the first information is received correctly by the second apparatus. In this case, the first apparatus may perform dependent resource allocations such as retransmission skipping, dependent DRX operations and dependent CG operations which will be detailed in the following paragraphs. Thus, the required service QoS may be met, and the signaling overhead and power consumption may be reduced.
[0061] FIG. 2 illustrates an example communication environment 200 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented.
[0062] The communication environment 200 comprises a first apparatus 210 which may operate as a terminal device such as a UE. In a motion control scenario (for example, as shown in FIG. 1) , the first apparatus 210 may operate as a sensor and / or an actuator. The first apparatus 210 may communicate with a second apparatus 220 which may operate as a network device such as an access network device (e.g., gNB) . Specially, the network device can be an access point (e.g., AP) in sub-network.
[0063] The communication environment 200 further comprises a third apparatus 230 which may operate as another terminal device. The first apparatus 210 and the third apparatus 230 may communicate with each other directly or via the second apparatus 220. In the motion control scenario (for example, as shown in FIG. 1) , the third apparatus 230 may operate as an actuator and / or a sensor. In some example embodiments, the first and third apparatuses 210 and 230 may cooperate with each other. For example, the first apparatus 210 may operates as a sensor and the third apparatus 230 may operate as an actuator, or vice versa.
[0064] As shown in FIG. 2, the communication environment 200 comprises a fourth apparatus 240 which may operate as another network device such as a core network (CN) device (e.g., an SMF or an AMF) . The second apparatus 220 and the fourth apparatus 240 may communicate with each other in a wired or wireless way.
[0065] It is to be understood that the number and types of apparatuses are shown in FIG. 2 for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. For example, the communication environment 200 may comprise any number and type of apparatuses.
[0066] In some example embodiments, a link from the second apparatus 220 to the first apparatus 210 or the third apparatus 230 may be referred to as a downlink, and a link from the first apparatus 210 or the third apparatus 230 to the second apparatus 220 is referred to as an uplink. In DL, the second apparatus 220 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the first apparatus 210 or the third apparatus 230 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the first apparatus 210 or the third apparatus 230 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the second apparatus 220 is a RX device (or a receiver) . A link between the first apparatus 210 and the third apparatus 230 may be referred to as a sidelink (SL) . In SL, one of the first apparatus 210 and the third apparatus 230 is a TX device (or a transmitter) , and the other of the first apparatus 210 and the third apparatus 230 is a RX device (or a receiver) .
[0067] In the following, for the purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the first apparatus 210 and / or the third apparatus 230 operating as terminal devices, the second apparatus 220 operating as an access network device and the third apparatus 230 operating as a core network device. However, in some example embodiments, operations described with respect to a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other devices, and operations described with respect to a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other devices.
[0068] Communications in the communication environment 200 may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , the fifth generation (5G) , the sixth generation (6G) , and the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.
[0069] In the communication environment 200, different service flows among the first, second and third apparatuses 210, 220 and 230 may be dependent from or associated with each other. In various example embodiments, the second apparatus 220 provides a configuration related to association of a plurality of service flows (including at least a first service flow and a second service flow) to the first apparatus 210. Based on this association of the service flows, the first apparatus 210 may perform resource optimization. Some example implementations will be described below with reference to FIG. 3.
[0070] FIG. 3 illustrates a signaling diagram for an example communication process 300 in the communication environment 200 according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0071] As shown in FIG. 3, the fourth apparatus 240 may transmit (310) , to the second apparatus 220, association of a plurality of service flows including at least a first service flow and a second service flow. The service flow may comprise a quality of service (QoS) flow. After the second apparatus 220 may receive the configuration of such an association, the second apparatus 220 may transmit (320) this configuration to the first apparatus 110. In some example embodiments, the association of at least the first and second service flows may be determined and configured by the second apparatus 220 to the first apparatus 210.
[0072] In an example, the association may include dependent relationship of the first service flow and the second service flow. Based on this dependent relationship, the first apparatus 110 may know that one of the first and second service flows are dependent from the other of the first and second service flows. Alternatively, or in addition, the association may include an indication that the first service flow is a trigger service flow (such as a trigger QoS flow, for example, for a sensor report) , and the second service flow is a response service flow (such as as a response QoS flow, for example, for execution commands) . In an example, the first service flow may be an uplink dependent service flow, for example a trigger QoS flow (such as a trigger QoS flow for sensor report) , and the second service flow may be a downlink dependent service flow, for example a response QoS flow (for example, for execution commands) .
[0073] The configuration related to the association of the service flows may be transmitted by the second apparatus 220 to the first apparatus 210 through radio resource control (RRC) signaling or media access control (MAC) control element (CE) . In an example, in the example embodiments where the configuration is transmitted through RRC signaling, the configuration may be carried in a radio link control (RLC) bearer configuration.
[0074] The configuration related to the association of the service flows may indicate any type of association between the first and second service flows. The first and second service flows may be both related to the first apparatus 210. Alternatively, or in addition, one of the first and second service flows may be related to the first apparatus 210 while the other of the first and second service flows may be related to another apparatus such as the third apparatus 230.
[0075] In some example embodiments, the configuration related to the association may indicate association between a first radio bearer associated with the first service flow and a second radio bearer associated with the second service flow. In an example, the first radio bearer may be an uplink data radio bearer (DRB) , and the second radio bearer may be a downlink DRB. In some example embodiments, the configuration related to the association may indicate association between a first logical channel for the first radio bearer associated with the first service flow and a second logical channel for the second radio bearer associated with the second service flow. The first logical channel may be an uplink logical channel of the associated service (for example, a motion control service) and the second logical channel may be a downlink logical channel of the associated service. The first and second logical channels may be both directed to the first apparatus 210.
[0076] In some example embodiments, the configuration related to the association may indicate association between a first configured grant (CG) for the first radio bearer associated with the first service flow and a second CG for the second radio bearer associated with the second service flow. In some example embodiments, the configuration related to the association may indicate association between a first search space for the first radio bearer associated with the first service flow and a second search space for the second radio bearer associated with the second service flow. The first and second CGs and / or the first and second search spaces may be related to the first apparatus 210 and another apparatus such as the third apparatus 230, respectively.
[0077] As shown in FIG. 3, the first apparatus may transmit (330) first information of the first service flow to the second apparatus 220. The first information of the first service flow may comprise a transport block (TB) or other forms of data.
[0078] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus 210 may detect (340) the second information from the second apparatus 220. In an example, in a motion control scenario (for example, as shown in FIG. 1) , the first information may comprise a senser report, and the second information may comprise an execution command. The second information may be transmitted by the second apparatus 220 towards the first apparatus 210 or another apparatus such as the third apparatus 230. Based on the detected second information and the association of the first and second service flows, the first apparatus 210 may perform (350) resource optimization.
[0079] In some example embodiments, the association of the first and second service flows may be used for implicit HARQ feedback. In an example, if the first apparatus 210 detects second information of the second service flow from the second apparatus 220, the first apparatus 210 may determine that the first information is received correctly by the second apparatus 220.
[0080] In an example, in the example embodiments where the association comprises association between the first logical channel for the first service and the second logical channel for the second service flow, the first apparatus 210 may transmit the first information including the data from the first logical channel. If the second apparatus 220 decodes the first information correctly, the second apparatus 220 may transmit the second information including the data from the second logical channel. In response to detecting the second information including the data from the second logical channel for the second service flow, the first apparatus 210 may determine that the first information is received correctly by the second apparatus 220.
[0081] In some example embodiments, the second information of the second service flow may comprise data such as a TB. In the embodiments where the first apparatus 210 operates as a terminal device and the second apparatus 220 operates as a network device, the first apparatus 210 may treat the second information as an implicit HARQ acknowledgement of the first information (e.g., the uplink data) based on the reception of the second information (e.g., the downlink data) including the data from the associated logical channel.
[0082] In some example embodiments, the first and second information may be data related to different apparatuses. For example, the first information may comprise data from the first apparatus 210, and the second information may comprise data towards to the third apparatus 230. The first and second information may be dependent data. For example, the first information may comprise a senser report, and the second information may comprise an execution command in a motion control system. In this way, in the embodiments where the first and third apparatuses 210 and 230 operate as terminal devices, the first apparatus 210 can implicitly understand the HARQ acknowledgement of the uplink data transmission based on detecting the downlink data transmission of the third apparatus 230.
[0083] In some example embodiments, in the example embodiments where the association comprises association between the first CG for the first service and the second CG for the second service flow, the first apparatus 210 may transmit, to the second apparatus, the first information on the first configured grant. In response to detecting the second information on the second configured grant for the second service flow, the first apparatus 210 may determine that the first information is received correctly by the second apparatus 220. The first CG and the second CGs may be related to different apparatuses. For example, the first CG may be related to the first apparatus 210, and the second CG may be related to another apparatus such as the third apparatus 230.
[0084] In some example embodiments, in the case that the association comprises association between the first search space for the first service and the second search space for the second service flow, the first search space is used for detecting the scheduling grant for the first information transmission and the second search space is used for detecting the scheduling assignment for the second information transmission. The first apparatus 210 may detect a schedule grant associated with the first information on the first search space and transmit the first information based on the scheduling grant. If the second apparatus 220 decodes the first information correctly, the second apparatus 220 may transmit the second information using the second search space for the second service flow. In response to detecting the second information based on the second search space for the second service flow, the first apparatus 210 may determine that the first information is received correctly by the second apparatus 220.
[0085] The second information of the second service flow may comprise scheduling assignment which may be related to another apparatus such as the third apparatus 230. Thus, in the case that the first and third apparatus 210 and 230 both operate as terminal devices, the first apparatus 210 can implicitly understand the HARQ acknowledgement of the uplink data transmission based on detecting the downlink scheduling assignment of the third apparatus 230 may be used as an implicit HARQ acknowledgement of the uplink data transmission of the first apparatus 210.
[0086] In some example embodiments, to perform (350) the resource optimization, if the first apparatus 210 determines that the first information is received by the second apparatus 220 correctly after detecting (340) the second information of the second service flow from the second apparatus 220, the first apparatus 210 may stop a retransmission timer for a HARQ process of the first information.
[0087] In the case that the first apparatus 210 operates in a DRX mode, the retransmission timer may comprise a DRX retransmission timer, for example drx-RetransmissionTimerUL. The drx-RetransmissionTimerUL may be started when the HARQ-RTT-TimerUL is expired. If the uplink transmission is correctly decoded in the network, the network may not schedule the new transmission (e.g., due to no new data to be transmitted) . In this case, the UE may be still in active until the drx-RetransmissionTimerUL expiration, which may not be power efficient. According to some example embodiments of the present disclosure, the first apparatus 210 may stop the drx-RetransmissionTimerUL after it determines that the first information is received correctly based on the association of the service flows since there may be no PDCCH grant scheduled for the retransmission. Thus, the power consumption may be reduced.
[0088] In some example embodiments, a CG timer may be used for a HARQ process of the first information in CG scheduling. For example, an identification (ID) of the HARQ process may not be used for a new transmission until expiration of the CG timer. In some example embodiments, to perform (350) the resource optimization, the first apparatus 210 may stop the CG timer for the HARQ process of the first information. In an example, if CG is configured and configuredGrantTimer is running, the first apparatus 210 may stop the configuredGrantTimer to allow a new CG transmission on the corresponding HARQ process which will be efficient on resource usage and reduce the latency.
[0089] Example resource management processes will be described in detail below with reference to FIGS. 4 to 6.
[0090] FIG. 4 illustrates a flowchart of an example process 400 of resource management in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In this example, a UE 410 operates as an example implementation of the first apparatus 210 in FIG. 2, and an RAN 420 operates as an example implementation of the second apparatus 220 in FIG. 2. A CN 430 operates as an example implementation of the fourth apparatus 240.
[0091] In the process 400, the generation of the uplink traffic (as an example implementation of the first information) and the reception of the downlink traffic (as an example implementation of the second information) may be both occurred at the UE 410. The process 300 may be implemented in a motion control scenario. In this scenario, the uplink traffic may comprise a sensor report, and the downlink traffic may comprise execution commands.
[0092] As shown in FIG. 4, in the process 400, at 432, an uplink dependent service flow (as an example implementation of the first service flow) and a downlink dependent service flow (as an example implementation of the second service flow) may be linked in the CN 430. The uplink and downlink service flow may be QoS flows. Association (or association information) of the QoS flows (also referred to as QoS flows association information) may be derived in the CN 430 and be provided to the RAN 420. In an example, an association treatment requirement for the QoS flows may be provided by the CN 430 to the RAN 420 to indicate the association of the QoS flows. The association treatment requirement may include the dependent communication (for example, one service is generated based on another service) , and / or the indication of a trigger QoS flow (for example, for a sensor report) and a response QoS flow (for example, for execution commands) .
[0093] At 434, the RAN 420 may determine the association of DRBs and logical channels in uplink and downlink for the associated service based on the association information of QoS flows.
[0094] At 436, After obtaining the association information of QoS flows, the RAN 420 may indicate the association information to the UE 420. In an example, the RAN 420 may determine a mapping between QoS flows and DRB / logical channel for both downlink and uplink. Then the RAN 420 may indicate the association information to the UE 410 through an RRC configuration signaling. For example, an RLC bearer configuration is used to configure the associated relationship between the uplink logical channel and downlink logical channel. An RLC-BearerConfig information element (IE) may be used to configure an RLC entity, a corresponding logical channel in MAC and the linking to a PDCP entity (for example, a served radio bearer) , and the associated downlink logical channel ID. In this way, the uplink logical channel and downlink logical channel can be linked together. An example RLC-BearerConfig IE is shown as below:
[0095] When the UE 410 receives the configuration on the association information of the uplink logical channel and the downlink logical channel, some dependent resource allocation can be supported.
[0096] At 438, the UE 410 may transmit uplink data (for example, a sensor report) to the RAN 420. At 440, the RAN 420 may transmit downlink data (for example, execution commands) to the UE 410. In the current NR system, there is no downlink HARQ feedback information for uplink data transmission. The UE can only know the scheduling grant is for new transmission and re-transmission through NDI fields in the DCI scheduling the same HARQ process. In this scenario, based on the associated information of the downlink logical channel and the uplink logical channel, the UE 410 can interpret an implicit HARQ acknowledgement for the uplink data transmission based on the reception of downlink data of the associated logical channel. Therefore, when the downlink MAC PDU is correctly received, the UE 410 may demultiplex the downlink MAC PDU and find the data of the associated downlink logical channel is included in the downlink MAC PDU (for example, the execution commands) , the UE 410 will know the uplink data of the associated uplink logical channel (for example, the sensor report) is correctly received by the network.
[0097] At 442, the UE 410 may perform dependent resource management including a dependent DRX operation and / or a dependent CG operation. Based on the implicit HARQ acknowledgement for the uplink data transmission, the DRX operation can be enhanced to reduce the power consumption which is important for the UE 410.
[0098] In some example embodiments, if an uplink transmission for the associated LCH is scheduled and a downlink transmission for the associated LCH of an uplink transmission is received by the UE 410, a DRX retransmission timer such as the drx-RetransmissionTimerUL for the corresponding HARQ process of the uplink transmission may be stopped.
[0099] FIG. 5 illustrates an example process 500 of a dependent DRX operation in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. Based on the operation as shown in FIG. 5, the UE 410 may stop the drx-RetransmissionTimerUL when it receives the downlink data of the associated logical channel to reduce the power consumption since there will be no PDCCH grant scheduled for the retransmission.
[0100] In addition, by using the CG, signaling and latency may be reduced compared with dynamic grant. For a CG configuration, the RAN 420 may optionally configure a configuredGrantTimer (CGT) . While the CGT is running, the corresponding HARQ process will not be used for a new CG transmission. This may facilitate network scheduling of retransmissions for that HARQ process ID. If the UE 410 knows the implicit HARQ acknowledgement for the uplink data transmission, which means the retransmission is not needed, the CGT can be stopped and the corresponding HARQ process can be used for the new transmission, which will be efficient on resource usage and reduce the latency.
[0101] FIG. 6 illustrates a flowchart of an example process 600 of resource management in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0102] In this example, a UE 610 operates as an example implementation of the first apparatus 210 in FIG. 2. A UE 620 operates as another example implementation of the first apparatus 210 in FIG. 2. An RAN 420 operates as an example implementation of the second apparatus 220 in FIG. 2. A CN 430 operates as an example implementation of the fourth apparatus 240.
[0103] In this process 600, the generation of the uplink traffic (for example, a sensor report) may be performed at the UE 610 and the reception of the downlink traffic (for example, execution commands) may be performed at the UE 620. As shown in FIG. 6, in the process 600, at 621, an uplink dependent service flow and a downlink dependent service flow may be linked in the CN 430, which is similar to the operations at 432 in FIG. 4.
[0104] At 622, in one embodiment, the RAN 420 may determine the association of DRBs / logical channels in uplink and downlink based on the association info of QoS flows. In another embodiments, the RAN 420 may determine the associated configured grant for the UE 610 in uplink and the UE 620 in DL. In the other embodiments, the RAN 420 may determine the search space of dynamic scheduling for the UE 610 in uplink and the UE 620 in DL.
[0105] At 624, in one embodiment, the RAN 420 may transmit a configuration on an association of logical channels to the UE 620. In another embodiment, the RAN 420 may transmit a configuration on the associated CG or associated search space for the UE 620 to the UE 620.
[0106] At 626, the RAN 420 may transmit the configuration on the association of logical channels, the configuration on the associated CG, or the configuration on the associated search space to the UE 610.
[0107] At 628, the UE 610 may transmit uplink data transmission (for example, a sensor report) to the RAN 420. At 630, the RAN 420 may transmit downlink data transmission (for example, execution commands) to the UE 620.
[0108] In one embodiment, the UE 610 may implicitly understand the HARQ acknowledgement of the uplink data transmission based on detecting the downlink scheduling assignment or downlink data transmission of the UE 620.
[0109] As another embodiment, both the UE 610 and the UE 620 are configured with the associated configured grants for the coupling scheduling. After the UE 610 transmitting the uplink data on the associated grant, the uplink data transmission is considered to be correctly received if the downlink data transmission on the associated grant configured for the UE 620 is detected.
[0110] As the other embodiment, both the UE 610 and the UE 620 are configured with the associated search space for dynamic scheduling. After the UE 610 transmitting the uplink data, the uplink data transmission is considered to be correctly received if the downlink scheduling assignment based on the associated search space configured for the UE 620 is detected.
[0111] At 632, the UE 410 may perform dependent resource management including a dependent DRX operation and / or a dependent CG operation. Based on the implicit HARQ acknowledgement for the uplink data transmission, the DRX operation can be enhanced to reduce the power consumption which is important for the UE 410.
[0112] With the proposed scheme, the property of association between services can be known by the UE, therefore the dependent resource allocation (for example, implicit HARQ feedback, dependent DRX operation and CG operation) can be supported by the UE.In this way, the QoS requirement may be well achieved, the signaling overhead and power consumption may be reduced.
