Description

Electronic device for changing transmission power and method of operation thereof

[0001] Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an electronic device for changing antenna settings and a method of operating the same.

[0002] User equipment (UE) can transmit electromagnetic waves to transmit and receive data with a base station. The electromagnetic waves emitted by UE can have harmful effects on the human body, and various domestic and international organizations are attempting to limit the electromagnetic waves that have harmful effects on the human body. For example, the specific absorption rate (SAR) is a numerical value that indicates how much electromagnetic waves emitted from a mobile communication terminal are absorbed by the human body. SAR uses the unit of kW / g (or mW / g), which can mean the amount of power (kW, watt, or milliwatt) absorbed per 1 gram of body mass. As concerns about the harmful effects of electromagnetic waves on the human body have emerged, SAR limits for mobile communication terminals have been established.

[0003] According to one embodiment, a storage medium storing computer-readable instructions may cause the instructions, when executed by at least one processor of an electronic device, to cause the electronic device to perform operations. The operations may include: setting a SAR distribution amount associated with short-range wireless communication to a first value among SAR distribution amounts corresponding to a first antenna group of the electronic device, and setting a SAR distribution amount associated with cellular network communication to a second value different from the first value. The operations may include: confirming a first event associated with cellular network communication while performing short-range wireless communication via at least one antenna included in the first antenna group. The operations may include confirming whether a parameter associated with a received signal corresponding to the first event satisfies a first condition. The operations may include confirming, based on the fact that the parameter associated with the received signal satisfies the first condition, whether a configuration of a transmission antenna of a signal associated with a first band corresponding to the first event satisfies a second condition. The above operations may include an operation of setting the SAR distribution associated with the short-range wireless communication to a third value smaller than the first value, and an operation of setting the SAR distribution associated with the cellular network communication to a fourth value larger than the second value, based on the configuration of the transmitting antenna of the signal associated with the first band satisfying the second condition.

[0004] According to one embodiment, an electronic device may include a memory storing instructions, and a processor connected to the memory. The instructions, when executed by the processor, may cause the electronic device to perform operations. The operations may include confirming whether a configuration of a transmission antenna of a signal associated with a first band corresponding to the first event satisfies a second condition based on the parameter associated with the received signal satisfying the first condition.

[0005] According to one embodiment, a method of operating an electronic device may include an operation of setting a SAR distribution amount associated with short-range wireless communication to a first value among SAR distribution amounts corresponding to a first antenna group of the electronic device, and setting a SAR distribution amount associated with cellular network communication to a second value different from the first value. The method of operating the electronic device may include an operation of identifying a first event associated with cellular network communication while performing short-range wireless communication through at least one antenna included in the first antenna group. The method of operating the electronic device may include an operation of identifying whether a parameter associated with a received signal corresponding to the first event satisfies a first condition. The method of operating the electronic device may include an operation of identifying whether a configuration of a transmission antenna of a signal associated with a first band corresponding to the first event satisfies a second condition based on whether the parameter associated with the received signal satisfies the first condition. The method of operating the electronic device may include setting the SAR distribution associated with the short-range wireless communication to a third value smaller than the first value, and setting the SAR distribution associated with the cellular network communication to a fourth value larger than the second value, based on the configuration of the transmitting antenna of the signal associated with the first band satisfying the second condition.

[0054] The first RFIC (222) may, upon transmission, convert a baseband signal generated by the first communication processor (212) into a radio frequency (RF) signal of about 700 MHz to about 3 GHz used in a first cellular network (292) (e.g., a legacy network). Upon reception, the RF signal may be acquired from the first network (292) (e.g., a legacy network) via an antenna (e.g., the first antenna module (242)) and preprocessed via an RFFE (e.g., the first RFFE (232)). The first RFIC (222) may convert the preprocessed RF signal into a baseband signal so that it may be processed by the first communication processor (212).

[0055] The second RFIC (224) may, upon transmission, convert a baseband signal generated by the first communication processor (212) or the second communication processor (214) into an RF signal (hereinafter, a 5G Sub6 RF signal) of a Sub6 band (e.g., about 6 GHz or less) used in the second cellular network (294) (e.g., a 5G network). Upon reception, the 5G Sub6 RF signal may be acquired from the second cellular network (294) (e.g., a 5G network) via an antenna (e.g., the second antenna module (244)) and preprocessed via an RFFE (e.g., the second RFFE (234)). The second RFIC (224) may convert the preprocessed 5G Sub6 RF signal into a baseband signal so that the preprocessed 5G Sub6 RF signal may be processed by a corresponding communication processor among the first communication processor (212) or the second communication processor (214).

[0056] The third RFIC (226) can convert the baseband signal generated by the second communication processor (214) into an RF signal (hereinafter, 5G Above6 RF signal) of a 5G Above6 band (e.g., about 6 GHz to about 60 GHz) to be used in the second cellular network (294) (e.g., 5G network). Upon reception, the 5G Above6 RF signal can be acquired from the second cellular network (294) (e.g., 5G network) through an antenna (e.g., antenna (248)) and preprocessed through the third RFFE (236). The third RFIC (226) can convert the preprocessed 5G Above6 RF signal into a baseband signal so that it can be processed by the second communication processor (214). According to one embodiment, the third RFFE (236) can be formed as a part of the third RFIC (226).

[0057] The electronic device (101) may, according to one embodiment, include a fourth RFIC (228) separately from or at least as a part of the third RFIC (226). In this case, the fourth RFIC (228) may convert a baseband signal generated by the second communication processor (214) into an RF signal (hereinafter, referred to as an IF signal) of an intermediate frequency band (e.g., about 9 GHz to about 11 GHz) and then transmit the IF signal to the third RFIC (226). The third RFIC (226) may convert the IF signal into a 5G Above6 RF signal. Upon reception, the 5G Above6 RF signal may be received from the second cellular network (294) (e.g., a 5G network) via an antenna (e.g., antenna (248)) and converted into an IF signal by the third RFIC (226). The fourth RFIC (228) can convert the IF signal into a baseband signal so that the second communication processor (214) can process it.

[0058] According to one embodiment, the first RFIC (222) and the second RFIC (224) may be implemented as a single chip or at least a portion of a single package. According to various embodiments, when the first RFIC (222) and the second RFIC (224) in FIG. 2A or FIG. 2B are implemented as a single chip or a single package, they may be implemented as an integrated RFIC. In this case, the integrated RFIC may be connected to the first RFFE (232) and the second RFFE (234) to convert a baseband signal into a signal in a band supported by the first RFFE (232) and / or the second RFFE (234), and transmit the converted signal to one of the first RFFE (232) and the second RFFE (234). According to one embodiment, the first RFFE (232) and the second RFFE (234) may be implemented as at least a portion of a single chip or a single package. According to an example, at least one antenna module among the first antenna module (242) or the second antenna module (244) can be omitted or combined with another antenna module to process RF signals of a plurality of corresponding bands.

[0059] In one embodiment, the third RFIC (226) and the antenna (248) may be disposed on the same substrate to form a third antenna module (246). For example, the wireless communication module (192) or the processor (120) may be disposed on the first substrate (e.g., the main PCB). In this case, the third RFIC (226) may be disposed on a portion (e.g., the bottom surface) of a second substrate (e.g., the sub PCB) separate from the first substrate, and the antenna (248) may be disposed on another portion (e.g., the top surface) to form the third antenna module (246). By disposing the third RFIC (226) and the antenna (248) on the same substrate, it is possible to reduce the length of the transmission line therebetween. This can reduce, for example, the loss (e.g., attenuation) of signals in a high-frequency band (e.g., about 6 GHz to about 60 GHz) used in 5G network communications by the transmission line. Due to this, the electronic device (101) can improve the quality or speed of communication with the second network (294) (e.g., 5G network).

[0060] In one embodiment, the antenna (248) may be formed as an antenna array including a plurality of antenna elements that may be used for beamforming. In this case, the third RFIC (226) may include a plurality of phase shifters (238) corresponding to the plurality of antenna elements, for example, as part of the third RFFE (236). Upon transmission, each of the plurality of phase shifters (238) may shift the phase of a 5G Above6 RF signal to be transmitted to an external source (e.g., a base station of a 5G network) of the electronic device (101) via its corresponding antenna element. Upon reception, each of the plurality of phase shifters (238) may shift the phase of a 5G Above6 RF signal received from the external source via its corresponding antenna element to the same or substantially the same phase. This enables transmission or reception via beamforming between the electronic device (101) and the external source.

[0061] The second cellular network (294) (e.g., a 5G network) may operate independently (e.g., Stand-Alone (SA)) or in connection with (e.g., Non-Stand Alone (NSA)) the first cellular network (292) (e.g., a legacy network). For example, the 5G network may only have an access network (e.g., a 5G radio access network (RAN) or next generation RAN (NG RAN)) and no core network (e.g., next generation core (NGC)). In this case, the electronic device (101) may access an external network (e.g., the Internet) under the control of the core network (e.g., evolved packed core (EPC)) of the legacy network after accessing the access network of the 5G network. Protocol information for communication with a legacy network (e.g., LTE protocol information) or protocol information for communication with a 5G network (e.g., New Radio (NR) protocol information) may be stored in the memory (230) and accessed by other components (e.g., the processor (120), the first communication processor (212), or the second communication processor (214)).

[0062] FIG. 3A illustrates a flowchart for explaining an operation method of an electronic device according to various embodiments. The embodiment of FIG. 3A will be described with reference to FIG. 3B and FIGS. 4A to 4E. FIG. 3B is a diagram for explaining transmission power and SAR over time according to various embodiments. FIGS. 4A to 4C illustrate graphs of transmission power over time according to various embodiments. FIGS. 4D to 4E illustrate tables of transmission power over time according to various embodiments.

[0063] According to one embodiment, the user device may back off the transmit power, for example, the maximum transmit power level (MTPL), if the expected SAR based on the transmit power is expected to exceed a threshold. For example, when the user device determines that a particular event (e.g., a grip, a hot-spot, or a proxy) has occurred, the user device may transmit an RF signal at the back off power corresponding to the event, or transmit an RF signal at a transmit power set based on the backed off maximum transmit power level.

[0064] In addition, a technology for backing off the transmission power (or maximum transmission power level) based on the total amount of SAR values accumulated over a certain period of time (or the average value of SAR generated over a certain period of time) is also being utilized. SAR that affects the human body instantaneously and / or SAR that affects the human body on average must also be considered, and accordingly, backing off the transmission power (or maximum transmission power level) can be performed when the total amount of accumulated SAR values (or the average value of SAR generated over a certain period of time) satisfies a specified condition.

[0065] The total accumulated SAR for each of the plurality of antennas can be managed, and accordingly, a maximum transmission power level can be set for each of the plurality of antennas. The user device can change the power of a transmission signal based on the SAR distribution associated with short-range wireless communication or cellular network communication. For example, the user device can change the transmission power of a signal associated with short-range wireless communication if the SAR distribution associated with short-range wireless communication is greater than the SAR distribution associated with cellular network communication.

[0066] According to various embodiments, the electronic device (101) (e.g., at least one of the processor (120), the first communication processor (212), the second communication processor (214), or the integrated communication processor (260)) may call (or read) multiple tables for transmission power corresponding to multiple points in time in operation 301. Before describing the embodiment associated with FIG. 3A, terms such as those in Table 1 are defined.

[0068] First, for an explanation of the table, reference will be made to FIGS. 4A to 4C. Referring first to FIG. 4A, a graph including transmission power for a plurality of time points (401 to 449) is illustrated. The cumulative SAR (cumulative SAR in Table 1) during a measurement time (Measurement time in Table 1), for example, a measurement time including 50 time points, may need to be maintained at a value less than or equal to a maximum cumulative SAR (Max cumulative SAR in Table 1). The electronic device (101) may determine the transmission power of an RF signal to be transmitted at the current time point (449) such that, in addition to the cumulative SAR at the current time point (449) and any past time points (409 to 448) (e.g., Average Time in Table 1), the cumulative SAR of additional nine future time points (not shown) (e.g., Remain Time in Table 1) remains less than or equal to the maximum cumulative SAR. In addition, the electronic device (101) can check the transmission powers (452) shifted by 1 from the transmission powers (451) at the current point in time (449) and any past points in time (409 to 448) of FIG. 4A, as in FIG. 4B. The fact that the point in time is shifted by 1 may mean that data at the most recent point in time (e.g., point 409 in FIG. 4A) is not reflected. The number of transmission powers (452) at the current point in time (449) and any past points in time (410 to 448) may be 40, which may be 1 less than the number of transmission powers (451) of FIG. 4A, which is 41. The electronic device (101) can determine the transmission power at the current point in time (449) so that the sum of the SAR by the transmission powers (452) and the predicted SAR at an additional 10 future points in time remains less than the maximum cumulative SAR. As in FIG. 4c, the electronic device (101) can check the transmission powers (453) at the current point in time (449) shifted by 25 from the transmission powers (451) and at any point in time (434 to 448) in the past. The number of transmission powers (453) may be 16, which may be 25 less than the number of transmission powers (451) of FIG. 4A, which is 41. The electronic device (101) may determine the transmission power at the current time point (449) so that the sum of the SAR by the transmission powers (453) and the predicted SAR at additional 34 future time points remains less than or equal to the maximum cumulative SAR. Although not shown, the electronic device (101) may manage a plurality of graphs shifted by one time point. The period for calculating the SAR may be, for example, the interval between the transmission powers in FIGS. 4A to 4C, which is the measurement period (P) of Table 1. The electronic device (101) can calculate and / or manage T / P - 1 tables for a specific point in time. Hereinafter, a configuration for checking a SAR prediction value will be described with reference to FIGS. 4D and 4E. Referring to FIG. 4D, the electronic device (101) can check a k-th SAR table (460). The k-th SAR table (460) can include D1, which is a SAR accumulation value (461) at at least one past point in time, a maximum SAR value (462) (D2) at the current point in time, and a SAR prediction value (463) (D3) at at least one future point in time. Referring to the graph, the accumulation value of SAR corresponding to at least one past point in time (461) can be D1. D1, which is a SAR accumulation value (461) at at least one past point in time, can be checked based on an antenna setting. The number of at least one past time point may be one less than the total number of time points (e.g., 100) corresponding to the measurement time (e.g., 50 seconds) in the first table. The total number of time points (e.g., 100), N, may be the result of dividing the measurement time by the sampling interval (or shift interval). Accordingly, in the k-th table, the number of at least one past time point may be k less than the total number of time points. The electronic device (101) can check the SAR cumulative value D1 of Nk past points in time (471). The electronic device (101) can use the maximum value S1 of the SAR for the current point in time (472). The maximum value S1 (e.g., normal max SAR in Table 1) of the SAR can be a SAR value corresponding to the maximum transmission power specified in the electronic device (101) (e.g., normal max power in Table 1). In one embodiment, the SAR value immediately before the current point in time (472) can be used for the current point in time (472). In one embodiment, the SAR average value of past points in time (471) of the current point in time (472) can be used for the current point in time (472). The electronic device (101) can calculate the sum of the SAR values (S2) (e.g., backoff max SAR in Table 1) for the backed-off transmission power (e.g., backoff max power in Table 1) for at least one future time point (473). The electronic device (101) can check D3 as the cumulative SAR for at least one future time point (473). In the k-th table, the number of at least one future time point may be k-1. Accordingly, the electronic device (101) can check whether the sum of the SARs for N time points, which are composed of Nk past time points, 1 current time point, and k-1 future time points, (D1+D2+D3) exceeds the maximum cumulative SAR. If it is confirmed to exceed, the electronic device (101) can backoff the transmission power of the current time point. Referring to FIG. 4e, the electronic device (101) can also check the k+1th table (480) as in FIG. 4e. The electronic device (101) can check, in the k+1th table (480), that the SAR cumulative value (481) of at least one past point in time is D4, that the SAR maximum value (482) of the current point in time is D2, and that the SAR predicted value (483) of at least one future point in time is D5.The electronic device (101) can check whether the SAR accumulation value of D4 + D2 + D5 exceeds the maximum accumulated SAR. In the k+1-th table, the number of at least one past time point (491) may be 1 less than the number of at least one past time point (471) in the k-th table. In the k+1-th table, the number of at least one future time point (493) may be 1 (494) greater than the number of at least one future time point (473) in the k-th table.

[0069] According to various embodiments, in operation 303, the electronic device (101) may check the past SAR cumulative value, the current time point, and the SAR predicted value at the future time point for a plurality of tables corresponding to at least one future time point. The electronic device (101) may check the SAR cumulative value for the first table and a total of N-1 tables that are shifted by time point i (i is 1 or more and less than N-2) from the first table. In operation 305, the electronic device (101) may check whether there is a table in which the sum of the SAR cumulative value and the SAR predicted value exceeds a threshold. If there is a table exceeding the threshold (305-Yes), in operation 307, the electronic device (101) may back off any one of the transmission powers of at least a portion of the RF signal (or at least a portion of the maximum transmission power limit (MTPL)). Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the back-off of the transmission power in this document may be replaced with a back-off of the maximum transmission power level. If there is no table exceeding the threshold (305-No), the electronic device (101) may transmit an RF signal at the set transmission power in operation 309. In various embodiments of the present disclosure, the backoff of the maximum value of the transmission power may mean the backoff of the maximum value of the transmission power.

[0070] As described above, the electronic device (101) can determine the maximum value of the transmission power so that the average value of the SAR used during the measurement time does not exceed the Average SAR limit. Alternatively, the electronic device (101) can determine the maximum value of the transmission power so that the accumulated SAR during the measurement time does not exceed the Max accumulated SAR. The electronic device (101) can determine the maximum value of the maximum power for the next time interval every P hours. For example, the conditions for operating at the normal max power during the next P hours can be as follows.

[0071] Condition: Tx Room > Occurrence SAR when operating at normal max power for the next P (normal max SAR in Table 1) + Occurrence SAR when operating at backoff max power for (Remain Time - P) (backoff max SAR in Table 1) = PX normal max SAR + (Remain Time - P) X backoff max SAR

[0072] The Tx Room in the condition may be a value obtained by subtracting the accumulated SAR up to the present from the Max accumulated SAR. The (Remain Time - P) in the condition may be T - average time - P, and may be, for example, a future time as described in FIGS. 4a to 4e. P may represent a present time. Average time may represent a past time. Satisfaction of the condition may mean that even if the electronic device (101) sets the maximum transmission power of the normal max power for the P time, there is no table in which the accumulated SAR exceeds the Max accumulated SAR. Non-satisfaction of the condition may mean that if the electronic device (101) sets the maximum transmission power of the normal max power for the P time, there is a possibility that there is a table in which the accumulated SAR exceeds the Max accumulated SAR, in which case, the electronic device (101) may set the backoff max power to the maximum transmission power for the P time.

[0073] Table 2 shows examples of variables and conditions.

[0074] [Example of variable settings]i. Normal MAX Power: 23dBmii. Backoff MAX Power: 20dBmiii. Measurement Time(T): 100 secondsiv. Measurement Period(P): 0.5 secondsv. Number of SAR Calculator tables: 199vi. Average SAR LIMIT: 1.5mW / gvii. Max cumulative SAR: 150mW / gviii. When Normal Max SAR => 23dBm, SAR: 2mW / gix. Backoff Max SAR => SAR when 20dBm: 1mW / g [the point at which the maximum power switches from normal max power to backoff max power] Average time X normal max power + (100 - average time) X backoff max power <= the point at which the accumulated max SAR is satisfied = Average time X 2 mW / g + (100 - average time) X 1mW / g <= 150 mW / g<=> Average time <=50

[0075] In the example in Table 2, it is explained that continuous use of normal max power with maximum transmit power is possible for 50 seconds, and backoff to backoff max power is required after 50 seconds. For example, let's assume that an RF signal is transmitted at normal max power of 23 dBm for 50 seconds, then an RF signal is transmitted at normal max power of 23 dBm for the next P (0.5 seconds), and then an RF signal is transmitted at backoff max power of 20 dBm for (Remain time - P) 49.5 seconds. In this case, Tx Room can be 50 mW / g, which is 150 mW / g - 50 X 2 mW / g. The SAR occurrence during P time can be 1 mW / g, which is 2 mW / g X 0.5 seconds. The SAR occurrence of (Remain time - P) can be 49.5 mW / g, which is 49.5 seconds X 1 mW / g. At this time, it can be confirmed that the accumulated SAR during P and (Remain time - P) exceeds the Tx room by 50.5 mW / g, which ultimately requires a backoff of the maximum value of the transmission power at the time point P. The above-described example will be described with reference to FIG. 3b, which illustrates the transmission power associated with one RAT. For example, referring to FIG. 3b, it can be confirmed that the maximum transmission power can be set to the normal max power (351) until A seconds (e.g., 50 seconds), but is backed off to the backoff max power (352) after A seconds. Depending on the backoff of the maximum value of the maximum transmission power, the slope of the second part (362) of the accumulated SAR can be formed smaller than the slope of the first part (361) of the accumulated SAR. The average SAR (331) before A second exceeds the average SAR limit (340), but at 100 seconds according to the backoff, it can be confirmed that the average SAR (332) is equal to the value of the average SAR limit (340).FIG. 5A illustrates a block diagram for explaining an exemplary electronic device according to various embodiments. The embodiment of FIG. 5A will be described with reference to FIG. 5B. FIG. 5B is a diagram for explaining an exemplary electronic device according to various embodiments. According to various embodiments, a communication processor (501) (e.g., at least one of the first communication processor (212), the second communication processor (214), or the integrated communication processor (260)) may transmit a baseband signal to an RFIC (503) (e.g., at least one of the first RFIC (222), the second RFIC (224), the third RFIC (226), or the fourth RFIC (228)) and / or receive a baseband signal. The RFIC (503) may process at least one RF signal associated with at least one RF path. Here, the RF path may include, for example, at least one hardware for transmitting an RF signal (e.g., at least one of an RFIC, an RFFE, or an antenna). For example, RFIC (503) can receive at least one baseband signal from communication processor (501) and can generate at least one RF signal. Although RFIC (503) is illustrated as one module in the example of FIG. 5A, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that this is exemplary and that there is no limitation on the number of modules in which RFIC (503) is implemented.

[0076] According to various embodiments, the RFIC (503) may provide at least one RF signal to the first RFFE (505) and / or the second RFFE (507). The first RFFE (505) and / or the second RFFE (507) may process (e.g., amplify) the received RF signal and provide the processed RF signal. The communication processor (501) may determine the amplification degree of the RFFEs (505, 507) based on the maximum transmit power level and / or transmit power determined as described above. Although not shown, the amplification degree of the RFFEs (505, 507) may be controlled based on an average power tracking (APT) module and / or an envelope tracking (ET) module. According to various embodiments, one RFFE may process a plurality of RF signals.

[0077] According to various embodiments, the first RFFE (505) may be connected to a single pole double throw (SPDT) switch (509), and an output terminal of the SPDT switch (509) may be connected to a switch (511). The switch (511) may be configured to selectively connect the output terminal of the SPDT switch (509) to either the first antenna (521) or the second antenna (522). The second RFFE (507) may be connected to a switch (513). The switch (513) may be configured to selectively connect the output terminal of the second RFFE (507) to either the SPDT switch (509), the third antenna (523), or the fourth antenna (524). In one embodiment, each of the antennas (521, 522, 531, 532) may be disposed within the housing and / or may be disposed on a portion of the housing. For example, they may be disposed on an outer surface of the housing of the electronic device (101), but are not limited thereto. In one example, as shown in FIG. 5B, the antennas (521, 522, 523, 524) may be disposed on one side (e.g., the top) of the housing of the electronic device (101), and the antennas (531, 532) may be disposed on the other side (e.g., the bottom) of the housing of the electronic device (101), but this is exemplary.

[0078] For example, whether a violation of a restriction (e.g., a SAR restriction) should be determined based on the sum of the RF radiation (e.g., SAR and / or PD) generated by multiple antennas, or whether each RF radiation generated by multiple antennas should independently be determined to violate the restriction, can be determined by the following mathematical expression 1.

[0079] [Mathematical Formula 1]

[0080]

[0081] In Equation 1, SAR1 is the SAR generated by one antenna, and SAR2 is the SAR generated by another antenna, and the unit may be, for example, W / kg. R for the sum of various SARs may be, for example, as shown in Table 3. Meanwhile, the numbers 1.5 and 0.04 in Equation 1 are merely exemplary and are not limiting.

[0082] Sum of SAR (SAR1+SAR2) (W / Kg)Minimum separation distance (minimum value of R) (mm)3.21432.81172.4932711.6511.4411.2331.0250.818

[0083] For example, let's assume that the sum of SAR generated from two antennas is 3.2 W / Kg. Meanwhile, since both antennas are arranged on the top of the electronic device (101), the separation distance may be less than 143 mm. In this case, in order to determine whether the electronic device (101) violates the instantaneous SAR regulation or the cumulative SAR regulation, it may be necessary to determine whether the sum of SARs generated from the two antennas violates the SAR regulation. To comply with the SAR regulation, for example, the electronic device (101) may perform a backoff associated with the transmission power of an RF signal based on one of the two antennas. Those skilled in the art will understand that the RF radiation in the present disclosure may mean, for example, SAR, PD, TRP (total radiated power), and / or EIRP (effective isotropic radiated power). For example, there is no limitation on the reference point of each antenna for defining the distance between the antennas. The distance between the antennas may be, for example, the minimum physical distance between the antennas. For example, the reference point may be set in various ways, such as the point where the largest RF is generated among the antennas, the center of mass of the antenna, or a point at one end of the antenna, and there is no limitation on the setting method. For example, the separation distance may be 143 mm or more when each of the two antennas is positioned at the bottom and top of the electronic device (101), for example. In this case, in order to determine whether the electronic device (101) violates the cumulative SAR regulations, it may be necessary to determine whether the sum of the SARs generated from either of the two antennas violates the SAR regulations and / or whether the sum of the SARs generated from the other of the two antennas violates the SAR regulations. In one embodiment, the antenna (521) located at the top of the electronic device (101) and the antenna (531) located at the bottom may be included in different antenna groups, respectively. For example, the antennas (521, 522, 523, 524) included in one side of the electronic device (101) may be referred to as antennas included in the first antenna group (520). The antennas (531, 532) included in the other side of the electronic device (101) may be referred to as antennas included in the second antenna group (530). Accordingly, the electronic device (101) may independently manage whether to back off based on the RF radiation amount based on the antenna (521) and whether to back off based on the RF radiation amount based on the antenna (531). For example, the electronic device (101) may set the transmitting antenna to the antenna (521) at the first time point. The electronic device (101) can determine whether to back off based on the RF radiation amount of the antenna (521) (e.g., accumulated RF radiation amount at a past point in time). If the condition for changing the transmission antenna is satisfied at a second point in time, the electronic device (101) can change the transmission antenna from the antenna (521) to the antenna (531). After the second point in time, the electronic device (101) can determine whether to back off based on the RF radiation amount of the antenna (531) (e.g., accumulated RF radiation amount at a past point in time). Meanwhile, the change of the transmission antenna may also be referred to as transmission antenna switching or transmission antenna hopping. For example, the change of the transmission antenna may be performed based on the control of a switch (e.g., 509, 511, and / or 513) and / or a change of an RF element (e.g., a power amplifier (PA), and there is no limitation on the method thereof). For example, when the communication processor (501) determines that the transmitting antenna is to be changed, the communication processor (501) may control at least some of the RF circuits (e.g., RFIC (503), RFFEs (505, 507), and / or switches (e.g., 509, 511, and / or 513)). In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 5B, the antennas (521, 522, 523, 524, 531, 532) may be configured to transmit and receive signals of a configured communication standard and / or frequency band. For example, the first sub-antenna (521) may be configured to transmit and receive a signal of a low-band (LB) associated with cellular network communication and / or a signal associated with Wi-Fi communication. The second sub-antenna (522) may be configured to support at least one of a mid-band (MB) signal associated with cellular network communication, a high-band (HB) signal, a signal corresponding to the N77 band, or a signal corresponding to the N78 band. The third sub-antenna (523) may be configured to transmit and receive a signal associated with short-range wireless communication. The third sub-antenna (523) and / or the fourth sub-antenna (524) may be configured to transmit and receive, for example, a signal associated with Wi-Fi communication and / or a signal associated with Bluetooth communication. The first main antenna (531) and / or the second main antenna (532) may be configured to transmit and receive a signal associated with cellular network communication. In one embodiment, the frequency bands and / or communication methods supported by the antennas (521, 522, 523, 524, 531, and 532) are not limited to the examples described above. In one embodiment, when the electronic device (101) transmits a signal associated with 5G network communication, antenna transmission hopping may be supported by the electronic device (101) depending on the frequency band. Those skilled in the art will readily understand that the frequency band associated with 5G network communication for which antenna transmission hopping is supported may be changed depending on the settings.FIG. 5c illustrates a block diagram illustrating an exemplary electronic device according to various embodiments.

[0084] In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 5c, an electronic device (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) may include an application processor (AP) (541), a communication processor (e.g., the communication processor (501) of FIG. 5a), and a Wi-Fi processor ("Wi-Fi processor") (561).

[0085] In one embodiment, the application processor (541) may manage time-average SAR distributions (or allocations) corresponding to the plurality of processors (561, 501) based on executing the TAS manager (543). For example, the application processor (541) may control, based on executing the TAS manager (543), the sum of SARs generated by the plurality of antennas (521, 522, 523, 524) included in the first antenna group (e.g., the first antenna group (520) of FIG. 5B) due to the execution of the plurality of processors (561, 501) to be maintained below a set value. In one embodiment, the application processor (541) may also control, so that the sum of the average power values for a predetermined time period output by the plurality of processors (561, 501) does not exceed a threshold value.

[0086] In one embodiment, modules (e.g., TAS manager (543)) implemented (or stored) in the electronic device (101) may be implemented in the form of applications, programs, computer codes, instructions, routines, processes, software, firmware, or a combination of at least two or more of these executable by the application processor (541). For example, when the modules are executed, the application processor (541) may perform operations corresponding to each. Therefore, in the present disclosure, the description that “a specific module (or, service) performs an operation” may be understood as “as the specific module is executed, the application processor (541) performs an operation corresponding to the specific module.” In one embodiment, at least some of the modules may include multiple programs, but are not limited to what is described. Meanwhile, at least some of the modules may be implemented in hardware form (e.g., processing circuits (not shown)). In one embodiment, the modules, when implemented on an Android operating system, may be implemented as services or applications.

[0087] In one embodiment, the application processor (541) may transmit and / or receive information to and from the Wi-Fi processor (561) via the signal line (563). The application processor (541) may, for example, request information related to average SAR consumption from the Wi-Fi processor (561). The Wi-Fi processor (561) may, in response to the request of the application processor (541), transmit the information related to average SAR consumption to the application processor (541). The Wi-Fi processor (561) may, for example, transmit to the application processor (541) one of a flag corresponding to under-high, a flag corresponding to under-normal, or a flag corresponding to under-low. Based on receiving the flag from the Wi-Fi processor (561), the application processor (541) may determine the range of the average SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor (561).

[0088] In one embodiment, the application processor (541) may transmit and / or receive information to and from the communication processor (501) via the signal line (553). The application processor (541) may, for example, request information related to average SAR consumption from the communication processor (501). The communication processor (501) may, in response to the request of the application processor (541), transmit the information related to average SAR consumption to the application processor (541). The communication processor (501) may, for example, transmit to the application processor (541) one of a flag corresponding to under-high, a flag corresponding to under-normal, or a flag corresponding to under-low. Based on receiving the flag from the communication processor (501), the application processor (541) may determine the range of the average SAR consumption consumed by the communication processor (501).

[0089] In one embodiment, for convenience of explanation, a Wi-Fi processor (561) is illustrated as an example of a short-range wireless communication module in FIG. 5C, but the electronic device (101) may further include other wireless communication modules that support short-range wireless communication. The electronic device (101) may further include, for example, a Bluetooth processor (not shown) that supports Bluetooth communication. The application processor (541) may, for example, determine the average SAR consumption consumed by the Bluetooth processor based on communication with the Bluetooth processor.

[0090] FIG. 5d illustrates a block diagram illustrating an exemplary electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0091] The TAS manager (e.g., the TAS manager (543) of FIG. 5c) is not limited to the embodiment executed by the AP (541) and may be executed by another processor (e.g., the communication processor (501)). According to one embodiment, when the function of the TAS manager is implemented as at least a part of the communication processor (501), the host (545) may manage SAR distribution amounts corresponding to a plurality of processors. When the host (545) is executed by the communication processor (501), a direct signal line (555) for electrical connection may be required between the communication processor (501) and the Wi-Fi processor (561). Based on the SAR-related parameters received from the Wi-Fi processor (561), control commands or control operations for performing operations related to TAS management may be performed through the communication processor (501).

[0092] FIG. 6 illustrates a flowchart for explaining a method of operating an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0093] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (101) (e.g., the communication processor (501), the application processor (541), and / or the Wi-Fi processor (561) of FIG. 5C ) may, in operation 601, set the SAR distribution amount associated with cellular network communication to a first value and the SAR distribution amount associated with short-range wireless communication to a second value among the SAR distribution amounts (or allocation amounts) corresponding to the first antenna group (e.g., the first antenna group (520) of FIG. 5B ). In one embodiment, depending on the operation mode of the electronic device (101), the first value may be equal to the second value. Depending on the operation mode of the electronic device (101), the first value may be lower than the second value, but is not limited thereto. The electronic device (101) may perform Wi-Fi communication, for example, based on establishing a connection with an access point that provides Wi-Fi communication. The electronic device (101), in a Wi-Fi connected state, may set the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to be higher than the SAR distribution associated with cellular network communication. For example, the electronic device (101), in a Wi-Fi connected state, may set the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to a second value corresponding to a high power mode. The electronic device (101), in a no Tx state in which no transmission operation associated with cellular communication is performed, or in a discontinuous Tx state in which transmission operation associated with cellular communication is discontinuously performed, may set the SAR distribution associated with cellular communication to a first value corresponding to a low power mode.

[0094] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may determine, in operation 603, that a voice call is not performed. The electronic device (101) may determine that a voice call associated with cellular network communication is not connected while performing short-range wireless communication via at least one antenna included in the first antenna group (for example, at least one of the first sub-antenna (521), the second sub-antenna (522), the third sub-antenna (523), or the fourth sub-antenna (524) of FIG. 5B ). Performing the voice call may include, for example, receiving a paging message associated with the voice call based on a first band. The first band may be, for example, a frequency band configured to perform a voice call via any one of a plurality of antennas included in the first antenna group. For example, the first band may be, but is not limited to, the N77 band or the N78 band. The electronic device (101) can check conditions for determining whether to change settings associated with the SAR distribution amount when receiving a paging message corresponding to the discontinuous operation of the communication processor. The electronic device (101) can check conditions for determining whether to change settings associated with the SAR distribution amount, for example, to ensure the quality of service (QoS) of a voice call.

[0095] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in operation 605, determine whether a parameter associated with a received signal corresponding to cellular network communication satisfies a first condition. The electronic device (101) may determine whether the electronic device (101) is located in a relatively strong electric field or a relatively weak electric field, for example, based on determining whether the parameter associated with the received signal satisfies the first condition. In one embodiment, the parameter associated with the received signal may include a parameter associated with the strength of a received signal associated with a first band corresponding to cellular network communication. The parameter associated with the received signal may include, for example, a reference signal received power (RSRP), a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), a signal to noise ratio (SNR), or a received signal strength indicator (RSSI), and the parameter associated with the received signal is not limited to the examples described above. In one embodiment, the first condition may include that the parameter associated with the received signal is less than a first threshold received strength. The first threshold received power may be, for example, a value of about -95 dBm when the parameter associated with the received signal is RSRP, but it will be readily understood by those skilled in the art that examples of the first threshold received power may vary according to embodiments of the present disclosure. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may determine that the electronic device (101) is located in a relatively weak electric field based on determining that the parameter associated with the received signal corresponding to the cellular network communication satisfies the first condition (Operation 605 - Yes). The electronic device (101) may determine that the electronic device (101) is located in a relatively strong electric field based on determining that the parameter associated with the received signal corresponding to the first event does not satisfy the first condition (Operation 605 - No).The electronic device (101) may, based on determining that the first condition is not satisfied (operation 605 - No), maintain a setting associated with a SAR distribution amount (e.g., a target SAR limit) in operation 607. The electronic device (101) may, for example, maintain a SAR distribution amount associated with short-range wireless communication at a second value and maintain a SAR distribution amount associated with cellular network communication at a first value.

[0096] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, based on confirming that a parameter associated with a received signal corresponding to cellular network communication satisfies a first condition (operation 605 - Yes), determine in operation 609 whether a configuration of a transmission antenna of a signal associated with a first band satisfies a second condition. Based on confirming that the configuration of the transmission antenna of the signal associated with the first band satisfies the second condition, the electronic device (101) may determine whether a transmission antenna of the signal associated with the first band is included in the same group as an antenna associated with short-range wireless communication. In one embodiment, the second condition may include that any one of a plurality of antennas included in the first antenna group is set as a transmission antenna of the signal associated with the first band. For example, when an antenna associated with short-range wireless communication is included in the first antenna group, the electronic device (101) may determine that the second condition is satisfied based on confirming that a transmission antenna configured to transmit and receive a signal associated with the first band is included in the first antenna group. The electronic device (101) can control the sum of the SAR generated by the transmitting antenna of the signal associated with the first band and the SAR generated by the antenna associated with the short-range wireless communication to be maintained below a set value. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can determine that the second condition is not satisfied based on confirming that the transmitting antenna configured to transmit and receive the signal associated with the first band is included in the second antenna group. Based on confirming that the second condition is not satisfied (operation 609 - No), the electronic device (101) can maintain the setting associated with the SAR distribution amount in operation 607.

[0097] In one embodiment, based on determining that the second condition is satisfied (operation 609 - Yes), the electronic device (101) may, in operation 611, set the SAR distribution associated with the short-range wireless communication to a fourth value and the SAR distribution associated with the cellular network communication to a third value. In one embodiment, the fourth value may be a value smaller than the second value. The third value may be a value larger than the first value. Although the third value may be a different value from the fourth value, those skilled in the art will readily understand that the third value may correspond to the fourth value depending on the setting. The electronic device (101) may change the setting of the SAR distribution based on determining that the first condition and the second condition are satisfied. For example, the electronic device (101) may change the setting of the SAR distribution based on determining that the electronic device (101) is located in a relatively weak electric field and that the cellular antenna associated with the first band and the antenna associated with the short-range wireless communication are included in the same antenna group. The electronic device (101) can reduce the SAR distribution associated with short-range wireless communication and increase the SAR distribution associated with cellular network communication corresponding to the first band. By changing the SAR distribution setting before confirming an event associated with the initiation of a voice call, the electronic device (101) can provide a relatively fast and good quality voice call service.

[0098] FIG. 7A is a diagram for explaining a transmission state of a processor of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0099] FIG. 7b is a diagram illustrating a SAR distribution amount for a processor of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0100] In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 7A, a processor (e.g., the communication processor (501) and / or the Wi-Fi processor (561) of FIG. 5C) of an electronic device (e.g., the electronic device (101)) may correspond to one of a plurality of states (721, 723, 725) depending on a transmission operation. For example, the processor may maintain a no Tx state (721) during a first time interval (711). The no Tx state (721) may correspond to a TX not possible state, for example, a state in which the processor is turned off or a state in which an antenna that is not associated with a transmission antenna used by other processors. In one embodiment, the no Tx state (721) may be a state in which there is no actual data transmission. The no Tx state (721) may be a state in which there is no transmission of an additional signal (e.g., a reference signal) other than data transmission. The processor may transition to a discontinuous TX available state (723) at a first time point (712). The processor may maintain the discontinuous TX available state (723) during a second time interval (713). The discontinuous TX available state (723) may be, for example, a state in which the processor performs non-periodic Tx operations based on a relatively low duty cycle. The discontinuous TX available state (723) may correspond to at least one of an RRC idle state, a RACH procedure, or a TAU update procedure in the case of a communication processor. The discontinuous TX available state (723) may correspond to at least one of a STA active search procedure, a P2P communication, or a NAN discovery procedure in the case of a Wi-Fi processor. The processor may transition to a continuous TX available state (725) at a second time point (714).The processor may maintain a continuous Tx state (725) during a third time interval (715). The continuous Tx state (725) may correspond to, for example, a state in which a Tx operation is relatively likely to be performed continuously. The continuous Tx state (725) may correspond to an RRC connected state in the case of a communication processor. The discontinuous Tx state (723) may correspond to an STA / P2P connected state, a soft access point state, and / or a NAN communication activated state in the case of a Wi-Fi processor. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may improve the transmission performance of another processor by changing the SAR distribution amount (or target SAR limit) during a time interval in which a transmission operation is not performed by at least one processor or a discontinuous transmission operation is performed.

[0101] In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 7B, the electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the processor to a low level during a time interval (731) corresponding to a no Tx state or a discontinuous Tx state. For example, the electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution amount associated with cellular communication to a value corresponding to the low level. The electronic device (101) may also set the SAR distribution amount associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to the low level. The electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the processor to a normal level during a time interval (733) corresponding to a continuous Tx state. For example, the electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution amount associated with cellular communication to a value corresponding to the normal level. The electronic device (101) may also set the SAR distribution amount associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to the normal level. When the electronic device (101) performs a service requiring QoS guarantee in a continuous Tx state, the electronic device (101) can set the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the processor to a high level while confirming that the SAR distribution amount of another processor can be reduced (735). For example, the electronic device (101) can set the SAR distribution amount associated with cellular communication to a value corresponding to the high level. The electronic device (101) can also set the SAR distribution amount associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to the high level. When the QoS guarantee of a service executed by a specific processor among a plurality of processors is required, the electronic device (101) can change the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the specific processor to a high level by reducing the SAR distribution amount corresponding to another processor.

[0102] FIG. 7c is a diagram illustrating SAR distribution amounts for multiple processors of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0103] FIG. 7d is a diagram illustrating changes in SAR distribution amounts for multiple processors of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0104] In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 7C, the electronic device (101) can maintain SAR distribution amounts (740) corresponding to a plurality of processors. The electronic device (101) can manage the SAR distribution amounts corresponding to the plurality of processors based on executing a TAS manager (e.g., the TAS manager (543) of FIG. 5C).

[0105] In one embodiment, with reference to reference numeral 741, the electronic device (101) can evenly distribute the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the first processor, the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the second processor, and the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the third processor. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the SAR distribution amount (742) based on determining that the first processor is not performing a transmission operation or can perform a discontinuous transmission operation.

[0106] In one embodiment, referring to reference numeral 743, the electronic device (101) can secure an unused SAR margin (746) by reducing the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the first processor and transitioning to a transition state. While the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the first processor is reduced, the electronic device (101) can equally distribute the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the second processor and the SAR distribution amount corresponding to the third processor. The electronic device (101) can change the SAR distribution amount (744) based on confirming that the average SAR consumption amount consumed by the first processor is less than a value corresponding to a low level.

[0107] In one embodiment, referring to reference numeral 745, the electronic device (101) can distribute an SAR allocation amount corresponding to an SAR margin to the second processor. The electronic device (101) can guarantee a QoS corresponding to a service performed by the second processor by increasing the SAR allocation amount corresponding to the second processor to a value greater than the SAR allocation amount corresponding to the first processor.

[0108] In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 7d, the electronic device (101) may change the setting of the SAR distribution amount to one of a plurality of SAR distribution modes based on the SAR distribution amount management method of FIG. 7c. The electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution amount associated with the Wi-Fi communication to a value greater than the SAR distribution amount associated with the cellular communication in the Wi-Fi high power mode (760). The electronic device (101) may transition to a transition state (763) by setting the SAR distribution amount associated with the Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a low level based on determining that a high transmission power of a signal associated with the cellular communication is required. When transitioning to the transition state (763), the SAR distribution amount associated with the Wi-Fi communication is set to a value corresponding to a low level, and a SAR margin (transition SAR margin) (766) may be secured. The electronic device (101) may transition to a cellular high power mode (780) based on determining that the SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor is less than a value corresponding to a low level.

[0109] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may secure a SAR margin (767) by transitioning to a transition state (761) when it determines that there is a relatively high possibility that a continuous transmission operation will be performed by the communication processor. The electronic device (101) may transition to a normal mode (770) based on determining that the SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor is less than a value corresponding to a normal level. The electronic device (101) may perform Wi-Fi communication and / or cellular communication in the normal mode (770). The electronic device (101) may secure a SAR margin (776) by transitioning to a transition state (771) when it determines that guarantee of QoS of a service executed by the communication processor is required (e.g., the electronic device is located in a weak electric field, and the antenna for cellular network communication and the antenna for Wi-Fi communication are included in the same antenna group). The electronic device (101) can transition to the cellular high power mode (780) based on determining that the SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor is less than a value corresponding to a low level. The electronic device (101) can improve the quality of a service corresponding to cellular communication (e.g., a voice call service) by setting the SAR distribution associated with cellular communication to a relatively high level in the cellular high power mode (780).

[0110] FIG. 8A is a diagram illustrating changes in SAR distribution amounts for multiple processors of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0111] FIG. 8b is a diagram illustrating changes in SAR distribution amounts for multiple processors of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0112] In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 8A, the electronic device (101) may operate in a Wi-Fi high power state (760) in a Wi-Fi connected state. The electronic device (101) may change the SAR distribution amount (801) based on verifying that conditions associated with changing the SAR distribution amount are satisfied. The conditions associated with changing the SAR distribution amount may include, for example, that while a voice call is not being performed, the received signal strength is below a threshold value, and that a transmitting antenna corresponding to cellular network communication belongs to the same antenna group as a transmitting antenna corresponding to Wi-Fi communication. The electronic device (101) may transition to a transition state (761) by, for example, setting the SAR distribution amount associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a normal level. At this time, by transitioning to the transition state (761), a SAR margin (Transition SAR margin) may be secured. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may enter a CP QoS ready state when the electric field corresponding to the position of the electronic device (101) is a weak electric field condition in order to secure the QoS of the CP (e.g., the communication processor (501) of FIG. 5c). For example, in the case of n78 or n41 that uses the upper antenna as the default RF path, if it is confirmed that the electric field is weak under the VoNR paging condition, it may enter a CP QoS ready state in order to secure the QOS. In one embodiment, the operation for securing the QoS of the CP may be set to a separate mode or may be included in an existing operation. The electronic device (101) may change the SAR distribution amount (803) based on confirming that the SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor is less than a value corresponding to a normal level. The electronic device (101) can transition to a normal state (770) (or “QoS ready state”) by changing the SAR distribution associated with cellular communication to a value corresponding to a normal level. The electronic device (101) may increase the SAR distribution associated with the cellular communication based on the secured SAR margin upon transitioning to the transition state (761). By increasing the SAR distribution associated with the cellular communication to a value corresponding to a normal level before confirming an event associated with the initiation of a voice call service based on the first band, the electronic device (101) may relatively reduce the delay time that may occur while waiting for a decrease in the average SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor during the transition state (e.g., transition state (763) of FIG. 7D). In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 8B, the electronic device (101) may change (811) the setting of the SAR distribution based on confirming an event associated with the initiation of a voice call service. The electronic device (101) may transition to the transition state (771), for example, by setting the SAR distribution associated with the Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a low level. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution amount (or target SAR limit) corresponding to the Wi-Fi processor to a value corresponding to the low level upon transitioning to the transition state (771). The electronic device (101) may secure a SAR margin corresponding to a value corresponding to the difference between the mid-level and the low level. The Wi-Fi processor may gradually reduce the average SAR value during a time window (for example, but not limited to, 30 seconds) corresponding to the Wi-Fi processor based on the TAS algorithm in order to comply with the SAR distribution amount changed from the mid-level to the low level. The electronic device (101) may determine whether the average SAR consumption amount corresponding to the Wi-Fi processor is less than the value corresponding to the low level. The electronic device (101) may increase the SAR distribution amount associated with the cellular communication based on the secured SAR margin upon transitioning to the transition state (771).The electronic device (101) can increase (813) the SAR distribution associated with the cellular communication even before the time corresponding to the time window of the Wi-Fi processor elapses based on determining that the average SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor is less than a value corresponding to the low level. The electronic device (101) can transition to the cellular high power state (780), for example, by setting the SAR distribution associated with the cellular communication to a value corresponding to the high level. The electronic device (101) can transition to the cellular high power state (780) relatively quickly by setting the SAR distribution associated with the cellular communication to a value corresponding to the normal level before determining an event associated with the initiation of a voice call service.

[0113] FIG. 8c is a diagram for explaining a change point in SAR distribution amounts for a plurality of processors of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0114] In one embodiment, referring to FIG. 8C, the electronic device (101) may operate in a Wi-Fi high power state (760) in a Wi-Fi connected state. For example, the electronic device (101) may set, among the SAR distributions corresponding to the first antenna group of the electronic device (101), the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a high level, and may set the SAR distribution associated with cellular network communication to a value corresponding to a low level. The electronic device (101) may change the SAR distribution based on whether a condition associated with the change in the SAR distribution is satisfied. The electronic device (101) may change the SAR distribution based on whether a condition associated with the change in the SAR distribution is satisfied while a voice call is not being performed, for example. When a first condition associated with an electric field and a second condition associated with the configuration of a transmitting antenna are satisfied, the electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a normal level that is smaller than a value corresponding to a high level. For example, the first condition may include that the electric field corresponding to the location of the electronic device (101) is a weak electric field. The second condition may include that the transmitting antenna corresponding to the band associated with cellular network communication belongs to the same group as the transmitting antenna associated with Wi-Fi communication. The electronic device (101) may transition to the transition state (761) by setting the SAR distribution associated with the Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to the normal level. The electronic device (101) may change the SAR distribution based on a confirmation (822) that the SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor is less than the value corresponding to the normal level. The electronic device (101) may transition to the normal state (770) (or, "QoS ready state") by changing the SAR distribution associated with the cellular communication to a value corresponding to the normal level. The electronic device (101) can relatively reduce the delay time that may occur while waiting for a decrease in the average SAR consumption consumed by the Wi-Fi processor during a transition state (e.g., transition state (763) of FIG. 7d) by increasing the SAR distribution associated with the cellular communication to a value corresponding to the normal level before confirming an event associated with the initiation of a voice call service based on the first band.

[0115] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, based on determining (823) an event associated with the initiation of a voice call, set the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a low level that is less than a value corresponding to a normal level. The electronic device (101) may transition to a transition state (771) by setting the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a low level. The electronic device (101) may determine whether the average SAR consumption associated with Wi-Fi communication is less than the value corresponding to the low level. The electronic device (101) may, based on determining (824) that the average SAR consumption associated with Wi-Fi communication is less than the value corresponding to the low level, set the SAR distribution associated with cellular network communication to a value corresponding to a high level that is greater than the value corresponding to the normal level. The electronic device (101) may, for example, transition to a cellular high power state (780) by setting the SAR distribution associated with cellular communication to a value corresponding to a high level. The electronic device (101) can transition to a cellular high power state (780) relatively quickly by setting the SAR distribution associated with cellular communication to a value corresponding to a normal level before confirming an event associated with the initiation of a voice call service.

[0116] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution associated with the cellular network communication to a value corresponding to the normal level based on determining (825) an event associated with the termination of a voice call. The electronic device (101) may transition to a transition state (771) by setting the SAR distribution associated with the cellular network communication to a value corresponding to the normal level. The electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution associated with the Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to the normal level based on determining (826) that the average SAR consumption consumed by the communication processor is less than the value corresponding to the normal level. The electronic device (101) may transition to a transition state (770) by setting the SAR distribution associated with the Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to the normal level.

[0117] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may determine the reception strength of a signal received through at least one antenna associated with a first band among a plurality of antennas included in a first antenna group. Based on determining (827) that the reception strength of the signal received through at least one antenna associated with the first band is greater than or equal to a second threshold reception strength that is different from the first threshold reception strength, the electronic device (101) may set the SAR distribution associated with cellular network communication to a value corresponding to a low level and set the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a high level. By setting the SAR distribution associated with cellular network communication to a value corresponding to a low level and setting the SAR distribution associated with Wi-Fi communication to a value corresponding to a high level, the electronic device (101) may transition to a Wi-Fi high power mode (760).

[0118] FIG. 9 illustrates a flowchart for explaining a method of operating an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0119] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (101) (e.g., the communication processor (501), the application processor (541), and / or the Wi-Fi processor (561) of FIG. 5C ) may, in operation 901, set a SAR distribution amount associated with cellular network communication to a first value among the SAR distribution amounts corresponding to the first antenna group (e.g., the first antenna group (520) of FIG. 5B ), and may set a SAR distribution amount associated with short-range wireless communication to a second value. In one embodiment, when the electronic device (101) operates in a normal mode, the first value may be the same as the second value. When the electronic device (101) operates in a Wi-Fi high mode, the first value may be lower than the second value, but is not limited thereto.

[0120] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may determine whether a voice call is being performed in operation 903. The electronic device (101) may determine whether a voice call associated with cellular network communication is connected while performing short-range wireless communication through at least one antenna included in the first antenna group (for example, at least one of the first sub-antenna (521), the second sub-antenna (522), the third sub-antenna (523), or the fourth sub-antenna (524) of FIG. 5B ). Performing the voice call may include, for example, receiving a paging message associated with the voice call based on a first band. The first band may be, for example, a frequency band configured to perform a voice call through any one of a plurality of antennas included in the first antenna group. For example, the first band may be, but is not limited to, the N77 band or the N78 band. The electronic device (101) may, based on confirmation that a voice call is not performed (Action 903 - No), check the conditions for determining whether to change the settings associated with the SAR distribution amount. The electronic device (101) may, for example, check the conditions for determining whether to change the settings associated with the SAR distribution amount to ensure QoS of the voice call. The electronic device (101) may, based on confirmation that a voice call is performed (Action 903 - Yes), set the SAR distribution amount associated with the short-range wireless communication to a sixth value and set the SAR distribution amount associated with the cellular network communication to a fifth value. The electronic device (101) may, for example, reduce the risk of failure of the voice call by changing the settings associated with the SAR distribution amount to CP high power mode.

[0121] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in operation 905, determine whether a parameter associated with a received signal corresponding to cellular network communication satisfies a first condition. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can determine that the electronic device (101) is located in a relatively weak electric field based on determining that the parameter associated with the received signal corresponding to the cellular network communication satisfies the first condition (Operation 905 - Yes). The electronic device (101) can determine that the electronic device (101) is located in a relatively strong electric field based on determining that the parameter associated with the received signal corresponding to the first event does not satisfy the first condition (Operation 905 - No).The electronic device (101) may maintain the settings associated with the SAR distribution amount in operation 907 based on determining that the first condition is not satisfied (operation 905 - No). The electronic device (101) may, for example, maintain the SAR distribution amount associated with cellular network communication at a first value and maintain the SAR distribution amount associated with short-range wireless communication at a second value.

[0122] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, based on confirming that a parameter associated with a received signal corresponding to cellular network communication satisfies a first condition (Operation 905 - Yes), determine in operation 909 whether a configuration of a transmission antenna of a signal associated with a first band satisfies a second condition. For example, if the antenna associated with short-range wireless communication is included in the first antenna group, the electronic device (101) may determine that the second condition is satisfied based on confirming that a transmission antenna configured to transmit and receive a signal associated with the first band is included in the first antenna group. The electronic device (101) may control such that the sum of the SAR generated by the transmitting antenna of the signal associated with the first band and the SAR generated by the antenna associated with the short-range wireless communication is maintained below a set value. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may determine that the second condition is not satisfied based on confirming that the transmitting antenna configured to transmit and receive the signal associated with the first band is included in the second antenna group. Based on confirming that the second condition is not satisfied (operation 909 - No), the electronic device (101) may maintain the setting associated with the SAR distribution amount in operation 907.

[0123] In one embodiment, based on determining that the second condition is satisfied (Yes in operation 909), the electronic device (101) may determine, in operation 911, whether a third condition is satisfied. The third condition may include whether the electronic device (101) supports changing the transmission path of a signal associated with the first band to a transmission path associated with any one of a plurality of antennas included in a second antenna group different from the first antenna group. The electronic device (101) may determine, for example, that the third condition is satisfied (Yes in operation 915) based on determining that the transmission path of the signal corresponding to the first band can be changed from a transmission path associated with an antenna included in the first antenna group to a transmission path associated with an antenna included in the second antenna group. If the third condition is satisfied (Yes in operation 915), the electronic device (101) may perform antenna switching in operation 915. The electronic device (101) may change the transmission path of the signal associated with the first band to a transmission path associated with any one of a plurality of antennas included in the second antenna group when the setting of the transmission antenna of the signal associated with the first band corresponding to the first event satisfies the third condition (Operation 915 - Yes). The electronic device (101) may, for example, determine that the third condition is not satisfied (Operation 913 - No) based on determining that the transmission path of the signal corresponding to the first band cannot be changed from a transmission path associated with an antenna included in the first antenna group to a transmission path associated with an antenna included in the second antenna group.

[0124] In one embodiment, based on the third condition not being satisfied (action 913 - No), the electronic device (101) may, in operation 913, set the SAR distribution associated with the short-range wireless communication to a fourth value less than the second value, and set the SAR distribution associated with the cellular network communication to a third value greater than the first value.

[0130] In one embodiment, the third condition may include that a change in the transmission path of the signal associated with the first band is supported by the electronic device to a transmission path associated with any one of a plurality of antennas included in a second antenna group different from the first antenna group (e.g., the first main antenna (531) and / or the second main antenna (532) of FIG. 5b or 5c).

[0131] In one embodiment, the operations may further include changing the transmission path of the signal associated with the first band to a transmission path associated with one of a plurality of antennas included in the second antenna group (e.g., the first main antenna (531) and / or the second main antenna (532) of FIG. 5b or 5c) based on the configuration of the transmission antenna of the signal associated with the first band satisfying the third condition.

[0132] In one embodiment, the operations may further include setting the SAR distribution associated with the short-range wireless communication to a sixth value less than the fourth value based on determining that an event associated with the initiation of a voice call is present. [0135] According to one embodiment, an electronic device (e.g., electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) may include a memory (e.g., memory (130) of FIG. 1, FIG. 2A, or FIG. 2B) that stores instructions and a processor (e.g., at least one of processor (120) of FIG. 1, first communication processor (212) of FIG. 2A, second communication processor (214) of FIG. 2B, integrated communication processor (260) of FIG. 2B, communication processor (501) of FIG. 5A or 5C, AP (541) of FIG. 5C, or Wi-Fi processor (561) of FIG. 5C) connected to the memory (e.g., memory (130) of FIG. 1, FIG. 2A, or FIG. 2B). The above instructions, when executed by the processor (e.g., the processor (120) of FIG. 1, the first communication processor (212) of FIG. 2A, the second communication processor (214), the integrated communication processor (260) of FIG. 2B, or the communication processor (501) of FIG. 5A or 5C), may cause the electronic device (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) to perform operations.
