AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The lithium metal batteries assembled with solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are repeatedly broken and reconstructed during the electrochemical cycle. The growth problem of lithium dendrites is serious, especially under large currents, which makes it difficult to achieve high-throughput operation.

Method used

A solid electrolyte is provided whose raw material components include polymers, soluble silver salts and alkali metal salts, forming a gradient SEI layer rich in inorganic components by physical contact with the alkali metal and in situ reactions during electrochemical cycles.

Benefits of technology

The lithium metal battery has been stable cycling under large currents. The lithium lithium symmetrical battery can be stable cycling for more than 1700 hours at 10mA/cm2 and 10mA h/cm2, and the entire battery has excellent magnification and low-temperature performance at room temperature.

Abstract

A solid electrolyte, a solid electrolyte interface layer and a battery. The solid electrolyte comprises the following raw material components: a polymer, a soluble silver salt and an alkali metal salt. When the solid electrolyte is used in cooperation with a metal, such as lithium, a gradient solid electrolyte interface (SEI) layer rich in inorganic components can be generated in situ in an electrochemical cycle. The SEI layer comprises an outer layer rich in a silver-containing inorganic component and an inner layer rich in a lithium-containing inorganic component, such that the solid electrolyte has a relatively high ionic conductivity and lithium metal negative electrode stability; and lithium ions can be uniformly deposited on the SEI constructed in situ, thereby inhibiting the growth of lithium dendrites, such that large-current stable cycle is achieved, and the low-temperature electrochemical performance is good.
