AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing technologies for underwater ship hull inspections are limited in their ability to perform 100% cleaning and inspection of ship hulls in wet dock conditions, often resulting in incomplete inspections and increased costs due to the need for manual divers or robotic systems that cannot maintain contact with the hull surface.

Method used

A system comprising one or more frames with integrated sensor systems, jetting systems, and camera systems, capable of moving along wire ropes attached to the ship deck, utilizing magnetic wheels for horizontal and vertical movement, and equipped with ultrasonic, electromagnetic sensors, and camera systems for comprehensive inspection and cleaning.

Benefits of technology

The system enables 100% cleaning and inspection of ship hulls in wet dock conditions with high accuracy, enhancing inspection capabilities and reducing costs by providing a comprehensive and efficient underwater survey solution.

Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system (100) for performing an underwater survey of a ship hull. The system (100) can include one or more frames (9) that can move along a set of wire ropes (11) attached to a ship deck or a flat platform on the ship deck. The one or more frames (9) can further comprise a plurality of sensor systems (5, 6), one or more jetting systems (7) and one or more camera system (8). The plurality of sensor systems (5, 6) and the one or more camera systems (8) can be adapted to survey the ship hull for a plurality of inspection parameters. The one or more jetting systems (7) enable cleaning of the surface of the ship hull for an accurate inspection.
