AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional dehumidifiers using refrigeration cycles do not efficiently control the evaporation temperature of the refrigerant in the evaporator, leading to suboptimal dehumidification performance and energy inefficiency, as they rely on controlling the expansion device's opening to set a fixed superheat degree without considering the air volume and humidity conditions.

Method used

A dehumidifier that controls the airflow by adjusting the rotation speed of the fan motor to set the evaporation temperature based on the air temperature and humidity, using a control unit to read blower control information from a memory unit, optimizing the evaporation temperature for efficient dehumidification.

Benefits of technology

The dehumidifier operates at an evaporation temperature that maximizes dehumidification efficiency and minimizes energy consumption, achieving efficient dehumidification by dynamically adjusting the airflow according to the air conditions.

Abstract

A dehumidifier (1) comprises: a refrigerant circuit in which a compressor (2) for compressing a refrigerant, a condenser (3) for condensing the refrigerant by exchanging heat with air, an expansion device (4) for expanding the refrigerant, and an evaporator (5) for evaporating the refrigerant by exchanging heat with air are connected in a ring shape using piping through which the refrigerant passes; a blower (6) which includes a fan and a motor, and which generates an air flow that flows in the order of an intake port (20) for drawing in air from a space to be dehumidified, the evaporator (5), the condenser (3), and a blowout port (21) for blowing out the air into the space to be dehumidified, the blower (6) having a flow rate that can be controlled by changing the rotational speed of the motor; and a control unit (7) which includes a storage unit (71) that stores blower control information for controlling the flow rate of the blower (6) such that an evaporation temperature, which is the temperature at which the refrigerant evaporates in the evaporator (5), becomes a target evaporation temperature set in advance for each air temperature and relative humidity, and that controls the flow rate of the blower (6) on the basis of the blower control information corresponding to the temperature and the relative humidity of the air in the space to be dehumidified.
