Abstract

Technical problem: Hair washing for bedridden individuals has until now been painful for them due to the hard material of the basins, or, if inflatable basins are used, impractical for caregivers, since the result often is wet bed mattresses. Solution to the problem: This new basin provides a soft and pain-free support for bedridden individuals, while at the same time offering a firm and stable tub which, owing to an outer channel, provides additional protection in the event of water leakage. Field of application: Hair washing for care-dependent individuals in a lying position. Particularly helpful in hospitals and in residential and home care settings, since it ensures not only that the patient is cared for without pain, but also that the bed mattress is kept dry.

[0003] Washing the hair of people in need of care who cannot leave their beds independently is a well-known problem in nursing care. Two different devices are currently available on the market as a solution:

[0004] Inflatable structures (filled with air), while soft for the person in need of care, often leave wet mattresses after use due to their unstable air construction. Users also complain of high wear and tear, as a defect often renders the inflatable pools unusable after just a few uses or due to careless storage.

[0005] Plastic wash basins offered on the market for washing bed hair are solid and durable, but the solid (hard) material makes them very uncomfortable in the neck area and usually painful for the person in need of care to use.

[0008] The invention specified in the patent claim is thus a plastic washbasin that, instead of a plastic neckrest, has a recess into which a soft neckrest can be placed, such as a neck roll, a rolled-up bath towel, or two towels rolled together. By using two basin frames instead of one, the channel between them can collect water that would otherwise leak over the first frame in conventional models during use, thus keeping the bed drier.
