AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing shaft instruments for laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures are not ergonomically designed and lack precision in handling and alignment, making them difficult to use effectively.

Method used

The shaft instrument features a connecting joint allowing shaft sections to rotate relative to each other at an angle other than 90 degrees, with a mechanical transmission device that transmits axial forces and torques, enabling precise rotational adjustment of the applicator independent of the shaft section angles, and includes ergonomic design elements for easy handling.

🎯Benefits of technology

The solution allows for precise alignment and ergonomic handling of the applicator, facilitating easier and more effective surgical procedures by allowing the applicator to be oriented optimally regardless of the shaft section angles, reducing strain on the surgeon.

Abstract

The invention relates to a shaft instrument (10) for laparoscopic and / or endoscopic interventions, comprising a proximal shaft portion (28) having a proximal shaft portion longitudinal axis, a distal shaft portion (30) having a distal shaft portion longitudinal axis, and an applicator (20) located at the distal end of the distal shaft portion. The two shaft portions are connected to one another in the region of a connecting joint (32) and are rotatable relative to one another, and at least one of the end faces of the two shaft portions facing the connecting joint is oriented at an angle deviating from 90° relative to the respective shaft portion longitudinal axis, and an angle between the two shaft portion longitudinal axes is modifiable. The shaft instrument has at least one transfer means which can be displaced along or parallel to an actuating axis by one actuating stroke and is coupled to the applicator of the shaft instrument at a distal end. The transfer means transfers axial forces along the actuating axis and torques around the actuating axis. The applicator can be rotated around the distal shaft portion longitudinal axis and the transfer means is non-rotatably connected to the applicator.
