AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing solutions require separate installations for CBRN filtration and split-type air-conditioning systems in protected spaces, compromising air tightness and increasing potential leakage paths, while also necessitating multiple wall penetrations for communication and utility services.

Method used

A dual-purpose wall sleeve embedded in the concrete wall integrates both CBRN filtration and split-type air-conditioning systems, along with auxiliary services, maintaining blast protection and air tightness through a single installation element.

🎯Benefits of technology

Simplifies and expedites the installation process, reduces costs, and enhances the integrity of the protected space by minimizing leakage paths and maintaining air tightness and blast resistance.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a dual or multi purpose wall sleeve 10 (Fig. 2) configured to be embedded in a concrete wall of a CBRN protected space and a method thereof enabling simple installation of both an air filtration system and a split type air conditioning system in shelters and safe rooms. The device comprises an open cabinet (20) facing the protected space, at least partially embedded in the concrete wall. A venting passage (37) formed at a rear wall of the cabinet airflow coupling the cabinet and an external environment at the outer side of the concrete wall. The venting passage (37) and at least a first portion (32) of the cabinet are configured to contain at least a portion of a CBRN filtration system. And at least one sealable passage (46) made to a rear (22) or a side wall of the cabinet in conjunction with a second portion (42) of the cabinet, being configured for sealed passage of conduits of a split type air conditioning system, between an external environment and the protected space, while maintaining blast protection and air tightness. The method relates to implementation of a wall passage for a split type air conditioning system and a wall passage for a CBRN filtration system, in a dual purpose wall sleeve 10, configured to be embedded in a concrete wall of a CBRN protected space. in additional embodiments, the multi purpose wall sleeve further provides sealed passages for additional utility services including electrical power cables, communication cables, water pipes and a supplemental ventilation duct, thereby consolidating multiple services through a single blast-resistant cabinet while maintaining gas-tight sealing.
