Abstract
A vehicle (10) comprises an engine (ENG), a second motor generator (MG2) mechanically connected to the engine (ENG), a first motor generator (MG1) mechanically connected to drive wheels (DWs), a battery (BAT), and a control device (20). The control device (20) operates the engine (ENG) to supply power generated by the second motor generator (MG2) and power from the battery (BAT) to the first motor generator (MG1), and outputs motive power from the first motor generator (MG1) to the drive wheels (DWs). In virtual stepped shift mode, the control device (20) acquires a realized acceleration that can be realized by the power generated by the second motor generator (MG2) and the current power of the battery (BAT), and prohibits, when an upshift request is made, an upshift from the current shift stage if the realized acceleration is an upshift restriction acceleration (L1) or less.
