Rotary compressor and vane manufacturing method
By coating the vane tip with a high-hardness layer and nitriding only the side surfaces, the design prevents protrusion formation, ensuring effective sealing and compression performance in rotary compressors.

Abstract
A rotary compressor (1) comprises vanes (127T, 127S) that partition a cylinder chamber surrounded by cylinders (121T, 121S), pistons (125T, 125S), and end plates (160T, 160S, 140) into suction chambers (131T, 131S) and compression chambers (133T, 133S). The vanes (127T, 127S) each have a base material layer (210), a high-hardness coating layer (220) that covers a distal end surface (129a) of the base material layer (210), the distal end surface (129a) facing the outer peripheral surface of the pistons (125T, 125S), and nitride layers (221, 222) covering side surfaces (129b, 129c) of the base material layer (210) that face the inner surface of vane grooves (128T, 128S) of the cylinders (121T, 121S). The vanes (127T, 127S) are formed such that end surfaces (129d, 129e) of the base material layer (210) that face the end plates (160T, 160S, 140) are not covered by the nitride layers.
