AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing kraft paper production systems face challenges in maintaining consistent tension build-up and controlling extensibility properties during the drying process, particularly in the transition from contact to impact drying areas, leading to potential web wrinkling and uneven drying.

Method used

The implementation of a drying section with separate drying wires for each contact drying cylinder, adjustable tension rollers, and controlled rotation speeds across drying cylinders to manage tension build-up, ensuring a smooth transition from contact to impact drying.

Benefits of technology

This approach enhances tension control and extensibility properties, resulting in wrinkle-free and uniformly dried kraft paper with improved mechanical properties.

Abstract

The invention relates to a dryer section portion, in particular an after-dryer section (20), for drying a fibrous web, for a system for producing kraft paper, wherein the dryer section portion has a contact drying region (70) which is arranged upstream of an impingement drying region (71) in the machine flow direction (1), wherein in the contact drying region (70) at least two, in particular three, drying cylinders (72) arranged one after the other in the machine flow direction (1) are provided in the contact drying region, characterised in that a separate, continuously circulating drying wire (73) is provided for each drying cylinder (72), which, in a pressing region (74), follows the outer periphery of the respective drying cylinder (72). The invention further relates to a system, a method and use.
