Description

[0001] The invention relates to an insert for insertion into a design frame of an electrical / electronic installation device that can be installed on a wall.

[0002] In building installation technology, it is common to encounter situations where electrical / electronic installation devices need to be protected from moisture, for example, in outdoor or damp areas. For this purpose, the design frame of an installation device is fitted with a sealing rib on its wall-facing side, which makes contact with the wall. The problem here is that functional geometries, such as a sealing rib located directly beneath the design surface, can lead to undesirable sink marks and distortion of the component due to rheological processes in molded plastic parts.

[0003] DE 196 36 500 A1 and DE 30 14 343 A1 show an insert for insertion into a design frame according to the preamble of claim 1.

[0004] Based on this discussed state of the art, the invention aims to propose a cost-effective solution that, on the one hand, enables protection of an electrical / electronic installation device from moisture, on the other hand, prevents undesirable points of entry on the design surface through rheological processes, and furthermore enables the retrofitting of existing design frames with regard to improved moisture protection.

[0005] This problem is solved by an insert for insertion into a design frame of an electrical / electronic installation device that can be installed on a wall, having the features of claim 1.

[0006] The core idea of the invention is, on the one hand, to offer a cost-effective solution by allowing the design frame to remain unchanged thanks to the inventive insert, thus preserving the existing tooling. The disadvantage of a two-part design is deliberately accepted in order to achieve the aforementioned cost advantage, although this disadvantage is mitigated by enabling pre-assembly through the insertion of the insert into the design frame under tension. On the other hand, the provision of two sealing ribs – one on the wall and one within the design frame – achieves an exceptionally effective moisture seal for electrical / electronic installation devices.

[0007] In a particularly preferred embodiment of the insert according to the invention, the first and second sealing ribs are made of thermoplastic. This allows for slight adaptation of the material to the contact surfaces (wall and design frame), thereby further optimizing the force-fit of the insert with the design frame and wall, and thus the sealing effect.

[0008] In one embodiment of the insert according to the invention, the first and second sealing ribs are made of a two-component material with a hard component and a soft component. This allows the sealing effect to be further increased in certain areas.

[0009] According to a preferred embodiment of the inlay according to the invention, the inlay has cutouts to allow the insertion of projections of the design frame.

[0010] According to a preferred embodiment of the inventive insert, the design frame has a perforated condensation outlet opening that can be broken out.

[0011] In one embodiment of the insert according to the invention, the contour of the insert has at least eight corners in a top view. This further improves its ability to channel away any liquid.

[0012] According to a preferred embodiment of the insert according to the invention, the insert has, in addition to the first and second sealing ribs, a base part that is supported by the design frame. Preferably, an angle of 90° to 175° is formed between the base part and the first and second sealing ribs. This ensures a particularly secure fit of the insert in the design frame and, at the same time, good sealing functionality against the wall and the design frame, since this geometry creates a resilient geometry. Preferably, the first sealing rib engages in a corner of the design frame. This allows for particularly precise insertion of the insert, as the two sides of the design frame that form the corner define the insert.

[0013] Furthermore, the invention relates to an electrical / electronic installation device for building installation technology, in particular a switch or push button, which comprises a design frame and is installed in a junction box on a wall, wherein such an insert is placed under preload in the design frame, wherein the first sealing rib makes sealing contact with the design frame and the second sealing rib makes sealing contact with the wall.

[0014] The invention is described below with reference to the accompanying figures and various exemplary embodiments. The figures show: Fig. 1: A schematic perspective rear view of a previously known design frame with a sealing rib, Fig. 2: a schematic perspective rear view of an insert according to the invention for insertion into a design frame, Fig. 3: a schematic side cross-sectional view of an insert according to the invention for insertion into a design frame, and Fig. 4: A schematic top view of an insert according to the invention.

[0015] In the various figures, identical parts are always marked with the same reference symbols and are therefore usually only named or mentioned once.

[0016] Fig. Figure 1 shows a schematic perspective rear view of a previously known design frame D with sealing rib DR. A disadvantage of this design is that functional geometries, such as a sealing rib, located directly beneath the design surface, can lead to undesirable sink marks and distortion of the component due to rheological processes in molded plastic parts.

[0017] Fig. Figure 2 shows a schematic perspective rear view of an insert E according to the invention for insertion into a design frame D. The insert E comprises a first and a second sealing rib D1, D2, wherein the first sealing rib D1 makes sealing contact with the design frame D and the second sealing rib D2 makes sealing contact with the wall W. This provides a particularly effective seal against moisture. The insert E can be inserted into the design frame D under preload to achieve pre-assembly.

[0018] Fig. Figure 3 shows a schematic side cross-sectional view of an insert E according to the invention for insertion into a design frame D. It can be seen that the insert E comprises, in addition to the first and second sealing ribs D1, D2, a base part B which is supported by the design frame D. An angle of approximately 100° is formed between the base part B and the first sealing rib D1, an angle of approximately 160° between the two sealing ribs D1, D2, and an angle of approximately 100° between the second sealing rib D2 and the base part B. This resilient geometry achieves a particularly good sealing effect with respect to the wall W and the design frame D. Precise insertion is achieved by the first sealing rib D1 engaging in a corner K of the design frame D.

[0019] Fig. Figure 4 shows a schematic top view of an insert E according to the invention, wherein the insert E has an octagonal contour that drains any liquid.

[0020] The invention is described with reference to exemplary embodiments. Without departing from the scope of the applicable claims, numerous further possibilities for implementation would arise for a person skilled in the art, without the need to explain these in detail within the scope of these explanations.
