Description

[0001] When hunting wild animals or catching other animals with live traps, the traps must be manually inspected several times a day, in accordance with the relevant legislation, to check whether an animal is in the trap.

[0002] Alternatively, so-called trap monitors can be used, which electronically inform the person responsible for the trap (the setter) when the trap is triggered.

[0003] State-of-the-art trap monitoring devices use a mobile network to transmit information. The trap monitoring device sends its data via the mobile network to the manufacturer's IT infrastructure, which then informs the operator about a trap trigger or its status.

[0004] The inventions specified in claims 1 to 3 are based on the problem that the use of mobile communications incurs license-related (ongoing) costs and that, conversely, license-free, i.e. free-to-use, radio bands are subject to legal regulations which sometimes significantly restrict the achievable ranges.

[0005] The problem of the cost of using a frequency band is solved by the feature listed in claims 1 to 3 of using a license-free radio band (e.g. ISM or SRD band).

[0006] The problem of the comparatively short range compared to mobile communications is solved by placing the base station mentioned in protection claim 2 in relatively close proximity to the trap monitors. The base station then informs the operator about the status of the trap monitors via a local internet connection.

[0007] Should a greater distance between trap monitors and the base station be necessary than can be achieved through direct communication between the trap monitors and the base station, the repeaters listed in claim 3 can be used. A repeater receives the radio signals from the trap monitors and the base station and retransmits them to increase the achievable distances or to circumvent reception problems.
